What sort of prices are you thinking the final product will fetch? The design looks really simple, which isn't a bad thing, but it's not going to really take anyone's breath away.
The one that is being worked on right now which will be 60x60 -hand stitched quilting- would on average go for about $1000. Most quilts are rather expensive due to the beforementioned time and effort that goes into creating them.
Note: The pictures to date are only the centre section, there will be a blue/green outer area and boarder from my understanding.
Here is an example from the internet of what hand stitches.
This goes without saying, but these would be one in a kind and are not mass produced. I should be getting updated pictures soon and can show the detail that goes into them.
I would be extremely interested in purchasing a quilt, but after reading through the thread it sounds like it might be absurdly expensive. I'm not sure if you're saying that your quilts would be somewhere around $500+, but that is quite a bit for a Bitcoin blanket. Not trying to take anything away from it, because I'm sure there would be someone willing to buy it at auction, especially if it is a limited edition collectible that has a lot of time and work put into it.
If anyone is interested in something unique and custom the price can be negotiated for a custom project. It would just either decrease size, amount of material or amount of hours spent on the product. To give some insight the material for this project alone costs around $240-340 ($8-20/yd). I know the group did a baby quilt recently that was around $400 and was 40x40. Just depends what people want and these things last forever if taken care of.
Note: I started this thread in hopes to support local community of quilters that raise money for their quilt guild, breast cancer and other charities.
It might not work but was worth a shot. Worst case I end up with a 60x60 quilt for myself
