I really like Box Mining YouTube channel. Disclaimer he is a supporter and advertiser of Cloud Mining, which is the only thing I really dislike about his channel.
942  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So Far ... How Has the Merit System Fared? on: April 02, 2018, 01:49:12 PM
I've been a long time lurker and I have only majorly contributed after the release of the merit system.

The merit system got me involved as it brought increased validation to some users. Allows the ability to pull out authentic posts and comments and it helps validate some of the Good and Services sellers. It works really well with the Trust system, but I think the Trust system needs some work, but that is for another conversation.

Yes, the system is working really well and is one of the reason I started contributing.
943  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple co-founder: Cryptocurrency needs a decentralized network to be successful on: April 02, 2018, 01:41:17 PM
Links between centralized and decentralized are potentially to be one of the most game-changing. Ripple (XRP) for example designed to facilitate cross-party exchange. Most people hate the idea of XRP because it's goes against the core values of blockchain, but I strongly believe you need to start somewhere. This makes it a far more efficient transaction method than traditional centralized banking and it’s why Ripple has served as the basis of a large number of experiments with banks and various other financial institutions in the cryptocurrency sector.

As for Jed McCaleb comment; 'cryptocurrency and the underlying blockchain technology need a decentralized network in order to be successful in the long term' I agree to the extend there needs to be a decentralized network, but Ripple is not that.
944  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [Question] Bitcoin Quilts would you buy one? on: April 01, 2018, 08:25:52 AM
Spazzer, why dont you open a shop in OpenBazaar? Its a decentrlaized market place for BTC users. You would have more exposure for your products and help with OpenBazaar's adoption at the same time.

I appreciate the suggestion and I will look into it.

I have to assume that the pictures/updates and the price of Bitcoin are independent from one another, or am I mistaken? I stayed up all night refreshing your thread, titillated with anticipation and now I feel betrayed.  Embarrassed I've been taken for a fool, please do not play with my heart again. I would like to see your word be kept and the auction up before the moon is high!  Kiss It has been nearly another 24-hours and now I am feint with exhaustion from this emotional roller coaster.

FeelsBadMan ;(

A little behind schedule, but here is the Auction for the quilt: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3230961

Here are some pictures of the finished project.

948  Economy / Collectibles / [Auction] Bitcoin Quilt 58"x58" Hand Made Supports Local Guild. Till 4/20/2018 on: March 31, 2018, 09:24:54 PM
Hello all,

Information: This Bitcoin quilt was a project started from a discussion here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3092512
This quilt will be auctioned off today to April 20th, 2018. Note: If the auction is unsuccessful I will be listing it as a [WTS] in Goods > Collectibles until sold.

The quilt was designed and quilted by my local quilt guild. This entire project was to test interest in Bitcoin or Cryptocurrency quilts while supporting the local quilters community. All proceeds will be going to the quilters guild. I pitched them the idea in March of creating some quilts related to cryptocurrency. The guild loved the idea and in a period of 20 days created an amazing warm feeling quilt. I hope this quilt brings everyone who sees it some joy and inspiration.

The suggested use case for the quilt is either as a throw quilt (on your lap while watching movies), bed or hanging display. The quilt is the first and one of a kind. No two quilts will ever be alike.

Description: Bitcoin surrounded in a sea of blue. 100% Cotton all three layers, Top, Batting, Backing and Thread. Custom stitching on blue boarder, yellow middle and white centre.
Size: 58"x58" inches  - 148x148 centimetres
Starting bid: 0.125 BTC
Bid Increments: 0.001 BTC
Any bids within the final 15 minutes will extend the Auction by an additional 15 minutes.
Excluded from Bidding: I may exclude bidders at my sole discretion.
End date and time: 4/20/2018 - 00:00 hrs UTC
Payment methods accepted: Bitcoin
Additional information: Payment will be escrowed until proof of delivery of the quilt through mail signature. After escrow receives proof of signature from buyer/seller funds will be released. I will never ask for direct payment through Private Message.

Note: If you are interested in a custom quilt feel free to send me a private message on the forums and I can relay any requested information. The guild or individual quilters are open to custom orders and doing any size of quilt and design. Example: See my Pokemon quilt.

Getting pictures and updates from the quilters has been delayed. I hope to have the auction up and running in 24 hours. Might delay it until there is no blood in the streets and the market recovers a little.
950  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: WHALES DIDN'T SELL THEIR BTC. (ANALISYS TABLE) on: March 30, 2018, 04:27:32 AM
where did you get this table from, i dont see a source for any of this data and it just looks like some made up numbers written in an excel sheet.  Please stop spreading fud like this because it doesnt help the price at all because no one is dumb enough to believe this.  But if you do have information to back up this data, by all means, please share it.  We'd love to see how you came up with these numbers.

Only list I am familiar with is the following: https://bitinfocharts.com/top-100-richest-bitcoin-addresses.html

The wallets are always continuing to increase their bags.

This list always makes me sad as some of these wallets are probably lost forever. https://bitinfocharts.com/top-100-dormant_5y-bitcoin-addresses.html

952  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [Question] Bitcoin Quilts would you buy one? on: March 29, 2018, 12:13:06 AM
Just received an email the quilt is finished! Will have pictures to post here tomorrow and will start the auction in goods and collectables.
953  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Vote and Help on: March 27, 2018, 10:16:34 PM
I am waiting for the 4th generation coin. WAN might be it.

Right now NEO is my favourite as it's an improved ETH which is ultimately an improved BTC. I want the even improved NEO and its unclear when we might see that.
954  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: How can I tell if a cloud mining business is not a scam? on: March 27, 2018, 10:03:10 PM
My recommendation is if you have money and want to invest; buy cryptocurrency directly.

Cloud mining is probably the worst investment at this time. This is because we are in a bear market. The Bitcoin price is lower now than in November/December and the difficulty has increased so the returns are low. The returns are smaller at the moment due to the lower price of BTC so keep that in mind.

It's simple if you believe Bitcoin surpass the $20,000 of November/December 2017 invest.
955  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: It is NOT secure to use hardware wallets (and it never was) on: March 27, 2018, 05:57:40 AM
Nothing is perfect. With the recent Ledger vulnerability the devs response and transparency was good. The security might not be perfect, but it will improve overtime.
956  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: The Lightning Network's penalty system in action on: March 27, 2018, 05:40:49 AM
Not going to lie I got really excited when this happened. It shows that integrated trusted security can be scaled. The only problem though is as mentioned above what if it was unintentionally broadcast the old channel state.
957  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Hardware Wallets on: March 27, 2018, 05:38:19 AM
I am really surprised that the other Hardware Wallets are not active on this forum.
958  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocruncy on: March 27, 2018, 05:17:56 AM
You really should diversify your portfolio. All listed coins I would suggest buying and holding a equal amount of each.

I personally really love NEO followed by ETH then BTC.
959  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase to add ERC-20 Support on: March 27, 2018, 02:24:19 AM
This is not very surprising news, but I am glad they are taking this approach instead of pulling a BCH incident again.

The question though on everyones minds is what will they add... that is the million dollar question.
960  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Crypto Trust - Cryptocurrency Affiliate and Referral Programs on: March 27, 2018, 12:48:48 AM
I've added casinos to the list. I am open to suggestions incase I missed some big ones: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3169437.
