If it was a Bitcoin chart instead of Pokemon this would be more accurate for me! Wink

How do you wipe out your paper money? Did he not keep enough to maintain his lifestyle stashed away in secure assets and went on a reckless spending spree?

There are tons of ways to lose BTC over time, scams like Trendon Shavers, Friedcat, Butterfly Labs; getting Zhou Tonged, Goxxed or Bitfinexed; more often than not, lost it in some ALT pump-and-dump or daytrading.  But quite often, simply because people can't afford to hodl and had to sell to paid expenses/debt or emergencies.  So it is actually quite difficult not to make wrong calls along the way that sees one's own BTC holding reduced substantially.  Fortunately, due to exponential rise in fiat terms, people normally end up with more, in fiat terms, than years ago.  But that still leaves a bitter taste for some as they know that they would have substantially more BTC had this and that not happened along the way.

Yep, there are a variety of scenarios that could cause bitterness, and let's say if you were in BTC for 3-4 years and you end up buying around 100 BTC and it cost you around $600 per BTC (average) (which would have been about a $60k investment), but then you make some pretty severe mistakes including some of the ones that you mentioned and even hackings or something, and you end up losing 80% of your built up stash.

At today's BTC prices you still have 20BTC x $19,000 = $380,000, and you are 6x in the profits, but you might still feel a bit bitter about the whole ordeal.

Overall, any of us can assess our current situation and continue to make plans that involve continuing to dollar cost average buy into bitcoin, unless we happen to be at the liquidation stage of our life - which, depending on health, might be someone in his/her 60s or 70s?.. and then in those circumstances, we might project how long we think that we have to live, and then schedule a draw down schedule based on such a projected timeline.. and sure the bigger of the two tragedies would be to draw to much and run out of money early rather than to have a considerable amount remaining upon death.

I think all of us who have been involved with BTC for a long period of time have some sort of regrets.  We could certainly lose some sleep over the "Would have, should have, and could have" thoughts that race through our minds.  Hey, even after hodling for several years and avoiding having our coins lost on Gox (got them off just a few weeks earlier) my husband and I still had some coins swiped a few weeks ago just trying to move them onto Coinbase to sell using Bitcoin QT.  We double and triple checked the address we were sending them to as well (never had a single problem) but the address was totally changed behind the scenes somehow.  We decided to do everything we could to protect what coins we have remaining.  We purchased an entirely new computer and didn't even connect it to our network and used our backup disk to load the coins onto it and bought a Trezor.  I guess there is a feature on the Trezor where we can check the address being sent to on the Trezor itself for security.  That is necessary we now can see.  We had several people ask why we didn't send a very small amount of coin first.  Well, since we never had any problems and this computer that my husband uses is checked repeatedly for viruses and I don't even allow myself on it (I don't trust myself to go to sites that might access a virus of some sort) we just trusted it was fine as it always had been.  But the hacks are becoming more sophisticated.

But they will "wisely" advise everyone to buy when the price is $100K+.

I don't know Why but i Just want to make same ATH guess like last time
Rules ....: the one  with the right date of ATH gets .25 btc paid directly  (UTC time)    (closest to ATH.....)
I look to Every page in here from now When a date is picked first iT cannot been taken again ( 1st =1st)
Another .25 btc is rewarded for ho makes best of technical analyse of the time When we strike ATH.... and Why iT happens at that time.....
So This .25 also only to been payed 1 time .... and not 2 times te same explanation.... (1st =1st)

Both answers to win must been inside before 20-09-2017
Goodluck to the ones that like This

UPDATE listmaking                 notice a * is when the person put good enough explanation for other .25 BTC  (person with no * only play ATH or have to put little better )

I would like to pick 27/9
We just had two weekly red candles (historically significant), confidence has returned to the market after the China news, we're less than 10% away from resistance at 4400 (USD) I give 5 business days to recharge fiat in trading accounts and then new ATH.

I will take 2/10.  No real reason except I think we are just leaving a bear trap now and should resume mass buying and a general FOMO especially by new investors.  Should be a fun few weeks coming up.

Although I'm in the profit zone with my current trade (bought some at ~2550€) these price movements are just ridiculous. Nothing healthy...

Nothing healthy?  I was thinking that it was finally starting to feel "normal."  I hadn't seen the bounces we had in 2013!  Unlike then though, hubby and I had a plan and we are sticking to it and it actually working!  So weird.

Now if only we could get our $1700 from Kraken that is lost in limbo.  They said that they sent it to our bank but we haven't received it and they are not communicating well about it.

And, my husband set up a stop loss order for some ETH (tried purchasing some for the first time to diversify).  On Coinbase we sold at $360 and then the dollar amount was $0.  It appears to be a glitch of some sort but it has been over 2 weeks and Coinbase hasn't responded at all.  Over $6000 is missing.  So we pulled quite a bit of cash off of there as it is so frustrating that we can't trust any exchange still.  I thought we were beyond that now.  But, alas, things are still not too different I suppose.

But we did sell a bit at $4800 and bought some back at $3200.  That felt good.  Smiley

I feel that we are about to go up quickly.....

I hope so.  Hubby and I have been supporting a new camp in California for the kids of incarcerated parents (Camp Agape) and would love it if the price increased soon because they need some funds for the camp on Memorial Day weekend.  We already gave a couple grand, but we have price points for selling and it would be so great to help fund this in a substantial way.  They have some big donors already (YMCA for one) but they need a bit more.

Of course, I am excited to see the price increase for more personal reasons too.  We have one daughter in college and another in high school and soon to be in college too!  Seriously, with the price of higher education today we all need investments that can double, triple or quadruple to pay for it!  LOL

Nice to have you around occasionally, we're not all bigots around here, you know Smiley

I ended up going on a mission trip to India two years ago and all my priorities really shifted after that.  Bitcoin has taken a "back seat" to my newly invigorated love for Jesus.  Wink  I guess I was always "spiritual" but some might say I have gone way extreme.  But there are worse things to be passionate about!

But that is the real reason I am not on here much anymore.

Hey Bitchick is here!  Cheesy

How are you and your hubby doing?  Still holding for the long term?  What's your take on how Bitcoin is doing?

I am still hodling.  Husband is less of a hodler than me and has been selling systematically.  Our strategy is to follow the "SSS" plan.  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=345065.msg3697405#msg3697405

Compared to 2013 I feel much less emotional and more level headed though.  I understand how getting too emotional during rises is dangerous and it is better to just have a logical plan in place and stick with it.

I think we are on a brink of a bubble.  Of course depending on what happens with the ETF this coming week will determine how quickly we see the bubble take off.   I fully expect to see prices in the $5000 range but I have always been the optimist in regards to BTC, hence why I was willing to hold since 2013. is there any way we can user activate women out of cryptocurrency?  that would be nice lol

I have found if you just talk computers or bitcoin in general to women they run away. So I don't think we have to worry about that
in our geek/lame world here on bitcointalk. (or in real life for that manner)

hmmm..that may have been a bit too harsh for this group....

on the other hand I have heard that if BTC gets to be around 10k a BTC and you have 100 BTC you suddenly without rime nor reason

become very attractive...its a mystery?

go figure?

Some women are more devoted to BTC than the men around here. Wink

They would have to be to stick around in the face of the infantile ignorance shown towards their gender.

Notice I don't spend too much time on here!  LOL

Numerology is interesting, but using it to verify the bible is like signing a crypto transaction.

I find uncanny similarities between the "hash" of Genesis 1:1 and Gospel of John 1:1, and the hash used in cryptocurrencies.

Perhaps it is time to confess that these similarities got me interested in crypto Wink

 Grin

I see the same similarities.  Smiley

Since the thread is after all also a publication to keep 'em honest and point out who is behind my problems, let there be a crosslink to my Facebook, as there was a day when I felt really bad. I lamented the blindness of my wife to join in the persecution, to the point that I prayed to Jesus about the matter in public.

That helped. None of the persecution went away, no. I got some extension to the tax case, and they also advised me to avoid any voluntary split-the-finances deal with the wife as that might cause problems when my tax liability is sorted out. This seems to negatively affect my ability to see my children, though, as in the spirit of complete lawlessness, wife has kidnapped them and only lets me to see them if I come to Finland.

What is the ironic part is that when I asked,
ME: "I'd like to have the answer to an important question: "Why can I not see my kids?" Before I open it up in public."

AP: "You can meet them in Finland. Please in the future, only contact my lawyer."

ME: "Can you confirm that you are not participating or knowledgeable in any action that might threaten my physical freedom in case I come to Finland?"

AP: [no answer, 23 hours and counting, including the time that she has been tagged in FB to reply and has read both the original SMS and has been online repeatedly during the day]

What a sad, sad world we live in! Wives plotting against their husbands' lives!!  Cry  Cry

"wife" is now used in place of the former "ex", to indicate that she is the only one who applied for divorce and it only came to my knowledge a few days ago. Until that, everything from both sides was just talk. God hates divorce, so I will also quit using the term as if I wanted something that God hates.

Do not bother to comment unless you read the FB post incl comments.

So sad you are dealing with this.  One thing I do like to encourage my friends that have had to deal with such betrayal is to comfort them with the fact that the reason God hates divorce so much is because He understands how painful it is.  God is divorced too.  Jeremiah 3:8 I gave faithless Israel her certificate of divorce and sent her away because of all her adulteries.

Smiley  It is almost like I am not even surprised at the rise.  This time around I am sticking to the SSS plan though.  Thanks Risto.  I would like to think I am a little wiser than I was in 2013.  So far so good.  I am not obsessing over the price.

Hi all.  BitChick is here checking in.  Have we all learned a little patience since 2013?  Good things come to those that wait, so it is said.  Smiley

Merry Christmas everyone!
15  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: November 20, 2016, 05:51:18 PM
Out of 900k people on board, about 1.0k are Legendary (highest rank based on activity). Most of them have signup year in 2013, a legendary year in Bitcoin for sure. Mine is 2012. Oldest is 2009.

I guess it is nice to be "legendary" in something. Wink

I have certainly gained some wisdom since 2013.  I have rather enjoyed spending much time on Bitcointalk and gleaning from those that I could tell were way beyond me in regards to intelligence.  I often feel like the "little sister" that is trying to understand her much older brother's discussions.  I am fully aware that my IQ is well below most, if not all, on here (mine is 128).  My husband (who is well into the 140s) said that we cannot have meaningful conversations with anyone that is outside of 30 IQ points of another.  This is why those that fall into the 140+ range find the entire world difficult to be in.  LOL  People in the world with 110-120 IQs get along "socially" the easiest it seems.  I do OK at 128-129, but I even feel I am smart enough to see beyond the "veil" of what is going on.  That could just be some God given discernment too though.

But things I have learned since 2013 is that what we consider "money" is something that certainly needs to be held onto loosely.  As I experienced a couple Bitcoin bubbles and found how quickly it could come and then go, it actually helped me let go of some of my worries strangely enough.  I also have way less trust in my government and in USD, which is a very healthy thing I believe.  I look around me and see that most, if not all people I know, put their trust in something that could and most likely will be taken from them.  They will be left holding nothing and become so devastated by that.  It is as if I see people walking towards the edge of a cliff and they are not even aware of it.  I could tell them, but it would be futile.  So I just have to wait and see how this all plays out.  It is all rather fascinating though.

And this time around, as the bubble hits, I am a bit more humbled and I will take my husband's advice (and Risto's as well) and have a plan so my emotions do not get as involved as they did in 2013.  The SSS (sane simple savings plan) has been charted out and I honestly feel good about it.  We are already completely in the "black" in regards to our Bitcoin holdings.  If we lost all we have today nothing would be "lost" on paper, so that is a great feeling.  So now it is just sitting back and enjoying the ride and seeing how it all plays out.  Hopefully I won't get sucked back into the obsession I dealt with in 2013.  That was a little crazy. Wink

OROBTC

I totally understand why Leonard Cohen has a fanatical following.  Such depth and transparency of the soul is becoming harder and harder to find in the world of music, and perhaps the world in general.  I am a fan now and I have just been introduced.

Thanks for the recommendations.  I will have to give them a listen for sure!
17  Economy / Speculation / Re: rpietila Wall Observer - the Quality TA Thread ;) on: November 16, 2016, 03:20:44 AM
Hi Risto.  Praying for you, if that is any comfort.  I am sad to read that there seems to be so many against you, especially those that should be the ones you should trust the most. I find solace in the Psalms when I have been treated unjustly, which has happened but not to the level you are dealing with.  The life of David should be someone you can relate to, as he was hated for no reason other than his successes and giftedness it appears.  You are one of the most "interesting" persons I have ever had the chance to interact with (albeit from a distance) It would be my honor to call you a "friend."

Very nice, BitChick.  Prayer is vastly under-rated in its power.  Prayers are always answered, although typically not the way we might envision...

The Psalms are a favorite part of the Bible for many reasons.  There is comfort for anyone afflicted for any reason there in the Psalms.

Bravo.

I feel as if I am just learning how powerful prayers are.

Just last week I have a really strange story.  On Monday I was chatting with someone on reddit about how I was asked to sing the Song "Hallelujah" at a memorial for a friend of a friend.  I have never played or sung this song so I googled it for lyrics and a chord chart.  I thought the song was by Jeff Buckley and then posted on reddit how I felt that the lyrics made me actually cry. Especially this verse:

Quote
maybe there's a God above
but all I've ever learned from love
was how to shoot at somebody who outdrew you
and it's not a cry that you hear at night
it's not somebody who's seen the light
it's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah

I shared this on reddit but then was quickly corrected.  The song "Hallelujah" was not a Jeff Buckley original.  It was written by Leonard Cohen.  I then googled Leonard and watched a couple videos.  He was much older and I was deeply moved by him.  Such depth to his life, thoughts, words, music.  What an amazing man I thought.  But I could also feel the pain in his voice.  It was almost like he had a deep longing that wasn't fulfilled.  As a Christian, I take great comfort in knowing that there is someone that can fulfill that deep void.  So, on Monday, I prayed for Leonard Cohen.  I prayed that he would no longer have a "cold and broken Hallelujah."  I prayed he would feel the love of God in a profound way.  Then, just a few days later, there was news of his death.  So strange.  But I feel comfort that my prayer was answered.  Especially with the strange timing of it all.

Edit:  And the timing gets even stranger now.  I just read that Leonard Cohen actually passed away last Monday night, and I was praying for him that same morning.  The press release said his death was on Thursday.

Long term hodler checking in.  Smiley  That was a long two years!  Patience is a virtue.  I must say if someone would have said in late 2013 that it would over two years before we had another bubble I would have said they were crazy.  But I have learned a few things since then, hopefully!

Bitchick is back........

I recall that a couple of years ago, you said that your husband had sold a bunch of coins, maybe it was in the $400s, or maybe in the upper $300s?

Did you buy any coins back between $200 and $500?

We sold some.  We purchased some.  We hodled some.

A wise man/woman avoids all extremes. Wink
