1  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Income statement: can it be used to mitigate huge losses due to addiction. on: Today at 03:56:42 PM
The OP suggestion is different because it gives moderation already to the players unlike cigarettes ads that only show bad effects which doesn’t limit directly all the users to use cigarettes.
it gives their users free will they are basically saying that since they have warned them it is up to them what they do with their products or services

i think a warning is also what the casinos can do at most and they are putting the entire responsibility on to their clients it gives enough freedom but also make sure that they will not compromise their profit i mean we all know everyone just ignores those warnings
2  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you believe in gambling experts predictions? on: July 14, 2024, 02:07:45 AM
Always don’t favour in Strong or famous site.I don’t believe 100% in gambling expert prediction. It’s happening 50-50 but i you can bet in favourite site. When you  bet more and more then you realise that what will be happening.
no matter how popular a site is or how much of an expert they claim to be they can’t always predict the most accurate results of course they have a stronger chances of winning but their opinion is not guaranteed of an actual win
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I finally accumulated 0.1 bitcoin!! on: July 14, 2024, 01:21:12 AM
I am 20 years old man living in South Korea. I finally accumulated 0.1186448 BTC. Do you think I can make $30000 in this bitcoin cycle?
congrats but be careful with giving out too much information about yourself especially where you are from

anyway $30k as profit alone would require bitcoin to go incredibly high for the cycle with your current amount of btc which might not be as realistic or doable however if you continue to buy more in cheap prices then there might be a chance you reach your target profit much quicker.
4  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The probability is unimaginable! on: July 13, 2024, 01:15:21 PM
Why should you choose the jackpot as your goal?
go big or go home, mate Wink

if i had the chance to spend as little as i can as possible to get the jackpot then that would be ideal though obviously not easily attainable in fact i don’t think any amount of money and effort can get you a jackpot you’ll have to rely on your luck alone
5  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: German Government completely sells off all its bitcoins. on: July 13, 2024, 10:10:18 AM
I see some people reporting that on Twitter but is it considered as sold simply because the funds are no longer in their cold wallet which is what the Arkham intelligence page is checking from my understanding? I mean the bitcoin could simply be sitting on whatever exchange they sent the funds to, and still have not been sold yet. Right?
yup that is true but the move alone made everyone think that they indeed have the intention of selling and Germany having that much bitcoin to sell scared people off and started taking out their bitcoins in fear that it will go down once Germany finally sells all their bitcoin

selling that much btc all at once might have some significant effect to the market but I doubt they will sell it all off
6  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The 'play till you hit it' mindset on: July 12, 2024, 10:57:58 AM
Chasing losses is behavior that some casinos (for example in the UK) are forced to regulate due to government regulation that aims to limit harm to addicted people. So for instance if you were making 1$ rolls on a 100$ balance and all of a sudden you deposit $10k, the casino will ask you for an income statement to make sure you're comfortable making this deposit without ruining your life.
well that seems very helpful from the government instead of trying to eradicate gambling completely they try to just control and maintain the gambling of their citizens this promotes responsible gambling and doesn’t require gamblers to go under the radar and risk doing it illegally.
Quote
What are your thoughts on this? Is constantly chasing big wins a practice you consider ok in gambling?
people think that repeatedly gambling will all be worth it once they win but obviously this is not ok because you never notice that you actually are spending way more than what you can win at some point
7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What caused bitcoin fees to retrace? on: July 12, 2024, 08:26:08 AM
Now that Bitcoin fees have come back down, what was the cause of the increase?  Was it runes and ordinals?
ordinals is a protocol that allows for nfts to be inscripted into the blockchain this means you can attach arts and whatever media to a satoshi however this kind of protocol requires larger block which in turn drives up the transaction fees

despite this i don’t think this is the main reason why the transaction fees are so high yes they contribute to it but it’s not primarily why
Quote
Has the volume of these derivatives declined to the point that fees are now what they used to be?
the transaction fees lowered as the price did
8  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Filipinos Playing crypto games for a living - Developer even says it is gambling on: July 11, 2024, 11:08:33 AM
So instead of looking for jobs or studying, many young people choose this kind of job even to the point of working 12 hours daily; they can earn three times what the average worker is working at the same hours.
even studying and finishing cannot guarantee you a high paying job so people tend to just work but then it’s very difficult to get a job in this country if you have no experience prior or you don’t have a degree
Quote
The country made headlines in the Axie Games so this is not surprising at all.
it was honestly all over the country and even reached mainstream television e-games are widely played and a lot of people even compete so yes not surprising at all
9  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Nigeria a blessing to Africa? on: July 11, 2024, 10:33:21 AM
Our economy is not good. Poverty is at high level. Our currency become best performing to worst performing recently. We are not developed the way we supposed to be developed. We remain being a developing nation when there are many developed nations in the world. Our population surpass our work force. We are still part of the third world natios. Inflation is high.
i am not from nigeria so it is difficult to assess the real situation of your country without living in it myself but op’s point can still stand especially if a lot of resources are available in your country

maybe the government is not as efficient as it should be but there are plenty things to be grateful for anyway this is all good discussion but perhaps not in the proper board. Here is the nigerian board https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=275.0

Quote
Nigeria is said to be giant of Africa because of just a single reason which is because of our population and nothing more. In gross domestic product, we are fourth in Africa now as we dropped from first.
4th isn’t that bad, still no? considering top 3 are south africa, egypt and algeria
10  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Is "Timechain" never a word with defined meaning? on: July 09, 2024, 05:19:28 AM
1. Is "Timechain" never a word with defined meaning?.

just like in any other language, words are used and words eventually die. it doesn't mean that because it is not commonly used anymore is it can't be defined anymore. a quick search on the internet will give you a definition of what a timechain is and what it is more commonly called now.
Quote
2. If the explanation above is actually the defined meaning of Timechain, then why is it not found in so many crypto glossary?.
let's go back to the history of blockchain and terms used

how to time-stamp a digital document by stuart haber and w. scott first explored the concept of blockchain but did not have an exact term for it not until satoshi

it's actually important to note that satoshi never used the term blockchain. blockchain is a one-word terminology that came from satoshi's constant use of the words: block and chain.

so we see how even though it was never officially used by satoshi, the term blockchain was normalized and now it is all people use. it is the same way how no one seems to use or even know about the term timechain despite satoshi actually using it. it might also have something to do with how blockchain is viewed today

instead of focusing on the time aspect, it is easier to describe the concept with its structural aspects hence the blockchain.
11  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How long have you been gambling in sports? on: July 08, 2024, 03:09:02 AM
How long have you been gambling, and have you already figured out how to win? If yes or no, please explain.
it’s difficult to pinpoint a specific time because as kids we used to bet on each other and win a few prizes even if it were little ones. growing up sports was definitely something me and fellow kids watched and enjoyed and predicting who will was even more enjoyable

it depends on the sport you are betting and what kind of system the bet is running on but having enough knowledge will always give you the higher chances of betting on the right decision and winning
12  Other / Off-topic / Re: AI won't take your job unless you aren't good at it on: July 07, 2024, 06:59:46 AM
Let AI take all the jobs, and never work in your life. Live off AI freedom.

Cool
and then we will have no money if we don't work lol

what we should do is to make us ai for our own advantage basically make your life easier by making use of ai yes it is scary as it seems to be shifting our world but we are ignoring the benefits it brings you can still do your job with the help of ai and be more productive
13  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Have some people used casinos to hide the origin of funds? on: July 07, 2024, 06:34:45 AM
.
There have certainly been cases where people have used casinos (and even exchanges) to hide/shuffle the origin of funds, 'cause when you deposit crypto on a platform, your link to the platform's address ends and when you go to withdraw, you withdraw funds from different origin (from other customers). Unless the platform keeps deposit/withdrawal logs of all user operations and provides them to authorities when requested.
this is not totally unheard of in fact many organized crimes use casinos mainly to hide their money laundering schemes there is a reason why casinos are often seen with malicious intent instead of just pure entertainment place

a lot of organized crimes tend to build their own casinos and this is where they let the money circulate
14  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What Work Now May Not Work Tomorrow on: July 05, 2024, 10:37:40 AM
Looking for patterns isn't a bad thing, gambling is for fun and to have such fun, you got to have a strategy, but before you develop a strategy, be sure to have a gambling budget so as to set a threshold for your exploration
surprisingly a lot of people actually do enjoy finding a pattern not necessarily because of the benefits it offers but the process of it and then the satisfaction afterwards.

just in life you should learn how to learn when to stop exploring and start doing real work that could give you real money when we were young exploring was motivated but once you notice that your exploration do not bear any fruit then you should move on
15  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is politics a do or die game? on: July 05, 2024, 10:24:43 AM
In the olden days, political seasons and Christmas season had no variance as both seasons were seen as festivities and exchange of pleasantries.
olden days do not seem to be accurate as it still happens even now

in some countries, even as mine two of the biggest holiday would be election and christmas. this is the time where people go all out and try to seem as happy as possible even if it might not be true this is also both the times where politcians tend to help as much people

just like any holiday though it comes and goes the politcians you see helping people during election season would soon stop once they are in position
16  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which is easier, to quit when winning or to quit when losing? on: July 04, 2024, 06:00:07 AM
Suppose our bankroll is $100 and it has already grown to $500, would you quit or continue? Conversely, if with our bankroll, we are down to $10, would you still continue or save the remaining $10?
i’d take the $500 and go thank you

i am not one to keep myself bleeding down to the last cent if i notice my money decreasing and not getting any profit then i would take that as a sign to stop and take my money to put into better things that could potentially give me profit instead
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: How can you be profitable with airdrops? on: July 04, 2024, 05:49:50 AM
Why not give it a try? I mean it's easy to do.
i wouldn’t exactly call it easy lol

i have checked out multiple airdrops and it’s not the simple “give me your wallet and i give you the airdrops” anymore these days you need to play their games first, test their tokens and etc

i guess it’s just a little effort compared to the kind of profit you might earn but it can be a bit useless if the project ends up failing
18  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the reputation or guarantee of casino sites being advertised here? on: July 03, 2024, 05:46:00 AM
The sites don’t get banned but, this action against scammy casinos and bookies have been  proven effective as users on the forum tends not yo take it kindly with any and all of the allegations that are raised on this manner. No one wants to play on a scammy casino or bookie and not get to withdraw their wins as well as, have a hard time gambling.
in this community, people often look out for one another. they often share what they think of a platform to warn others but of course it is your decision whether you will take their opinion

sometimes a platform can have mixed reviews but in my opinion mixed reviews is still a red flag as it seems to be like an inconsistency issue
Quote
Reputation does help in making them good choices as they stand as reviews but, it means just as much as you value it.
it also depends on the people that share such reviews i mean if a person is not really credible then their review might not be as credible as it seems
19  Other / Meta / Re: Did Satoshi ever use a profile picture on bitcointalk? on: July 03, 2024, 05:20:25 AM
There is no option to use profile pic in this forum. You can use avatar as picture. But no one uses their own picture as avatar. You can enter the email used in his profile, the email profile can have his picture.
this forum is mainly for communicating and does not really require anyone to show their faces this is not a social media platform like facebook or instagram where people share about their lives

besides all of us go under nicknames in order to hide our real identities holding bitcoin or anything important digitally can be a threat to our lives if our identities were shown everywhere
20  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling: games with fast results or games with a long process on: July 02, 2024, 01:55:36 PM
Hello friends.
Have you ever thought about the fact that there are games in gambling that give a gambler:
- a result quickly: red-black, for example, slots.
- and there are some games that have a long process: poker, for example.
What types of gambling do you prefer: With a quick result, and are there those where you can enjoy the process for a long time?
Which of these types of gambling causes addiction faster?
they can be both very addicting but if we consider age groups i think younger people like games that are fast-paced and can be done without needing much concentration

i have noticed that many kids these days tend to lose focus really easily as they have very short attention span and that’s why short videos are very much trendy these days easy to get in get out and have fun in between
