Many thanks Lafu, much appreciated, yes I feel that these particular scammers are probably better organised than many, unfortunately, especially as in that they haven't rushed to cash out into fiat and blow the loot ASAP without care about any traceability
My friend has written it off as to needing to learn a lesson the hard way, and doesn't expect that they'll see any of the coins back again, but we would still like to track what has happened as much as possible, and how it all progresses when the coins move again
The first addie that they sent a test transfer (I guess) to, may be a complete red herring, as surely they're smart enough to know that once the funds landed in their scammer receiving addie then they were in the bag and there was no need to check that by moving any, perhaps they wanted to show, and so prove, to some third party that they really had landed that catch, who knows?
Could even be kidnapped to Myanmar forced scammer/s, in which case I wish them well, maybe they get to now eat steak for one week, and not have their kidneys harvested ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Though I doubt that this is the present case here...

I've been asked to report the scamming theft of 3 BTC from someone that I know well, they slipped up badly and sent them to someone who was impersonating a friend of theirs, and so on their behalf I'm offering a reward of 10% on any of the coins that are retrieved, or returned, plus a reward of up to $1,000 (my judgement upon the info's worth) for the first person who reports any movement of them to a crypto exchange, or somewhere where they may be able to be frozen, or better yet where the perp/s may be traced and prosecuted, hopefully. No rewards offered for info of any moves to mixers, or dark web sites, except at my discretion and likely to be around $100 for the first report of that. $500 reward for the first person to ID what the bc1qlddfc5psmhfp4z6ckzwp7nhxrwsa7dfp8gz383 addie is, where they sent a token amount just after the scam, and then withdrew it back again. I consigned them in person direct with ANACS's stand at the Long Beach, CA. coin show that I came over to the States for, and I stayed until they returned them to me.

Well they were shipped from ANACS which are now based at Englewood, CO 80155, I don't know if this is where they were, and sent from, ten years ago or not, at the time I was visiting a friend in Sierra Madre, CA 91024 & used a P.O. Box there at Sierra Madre, CA 91025 to receive these back from ANACS, separately I also had an eBay package stolen which I'd had sent there, that time it was also cut open but all the contents were taken, so as sent from different locations the rat in question could have been based in Sierra Madre, or more likely the main PO in Arcadia I guess, but it could also have been someone working in the PO which ANACS used, I haven't checked if that has been a regular occurrence but someone did tell me that they though this happened quite a lot, in the past anyway, I don't know about now, probably would have been better to have used FedEx or something.
It could even have happened in the ANACS mail room, or in transit to their PO, all speculation anyway.
Good luck and many thanks for taking an interest, one day I may make a return visit there and file a police report on it locally, but I'm not sure that would really help much now, but if they resurfaced it could do no harm I expect.

How much more money would you have if you waited til now to peel your collection instead of using an auction site to sell? Obviously with a 130% increase in the bitcoin price over the last year the peel value now is much higher, just as the auction value is as well where I'm guaranteed the current spot price plus half of the buyer's premium, but what matters is that I used a good portion of the proceeds to buy the Blackrock's iShares BTC ETF https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/IBIT/ which is up by about the same amount, and my prime motive was to preserve those coins, and to get them listed in nice catalogues for posterity where I can still enjoy them, but without the needs and risks of physically holding such a large stash, plus to help to kick start the nascent main stream physicals crypto auctions market, Heritage reported to me this about my latest sale: "As per the last sale we’ve just had on Monday, it was definitely our smoothest and most profitable crypto sale we’ve ever had, so I consider it a great success." I had other uses for the proceeds as well last year which were more important to me than maximising the amount that I, or my estate, may get at some point in the future, I've waited well over a decade before selling and this is now an opportune time as far as I'm concerned. I have taken on some costly philanthropic commitments which are making a huge difference to some people's lives and have being doing this for some time now, I've also diversified into many non crypto fields and after having all of my eggs in one basket for so long this gives me more security and some very nice places to live in around the world, this is the stuff that I enjoy spending my good fortune on now rather than trying to maximise my net worth beyond my needs. You've stated that you don't care for auction house sales and that is your prerogative and choice, but it isn't mine obviously and I have no regrets about my auction sales to date. |

Probably you're not planning on selling these as you didn't mention that you were, but if anytime you did wish to then you could always submit them to Heritage Auctions, who'd either pick them up from you, or you could drop them into one of their offices, and then they'd be insured at their BTC spot price with HA handling the grading at PCSG for you with no risk to yourself, if you subsequently sold with them it's likely that you could negotiate to not be charged any seller's premium and to be guaranteed the spot price at least on the day (set half an hour before the auction approx.) plus 50% of the 20% buyer's premium.
So if say the bitcoin price was $100,000/BTC and they sold for $100,000 + $20,000 BP = $120,000 then you'd get $110,000 (less the grading/slabbing costs, and possibly some fees towards photography and catalogue printing)
If they sold for $85,000 + $17,000 BP = $102,000 then you'd get $101,000 (less possible costs)
If the bidding didn't reach $84,000 then HA would buy them in and depending upon what you arranged with them, either pay you the $100,000 spot price, or retain them on your behalf for submission into one of their future sales, this has been my experience anyway and the feedback which they gave me on my latest sale with them was that:
"it was definitely our smoothest and most profitable crypto sale we’ve ever had, so I consider it a great success"
If you wished to sell some with them, but also to have some of them returned to you after they'd been graded/slabbed then they may be amenable to that I expect, though you'd need to check with them about it first.

Maybe collectors appreciating that the Cas silvers are probably the most beautiful physicals created, and with the 0.1 BTC being the most accessible price wise, even at 4 x spot
Nice result for the unfunded 1,000 BTC Cas at $168,000 as the previous one in August 2024 went for $55,200 which I knew at the time to be a steal
