1  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread -100% Original Codebase - Over 70 Active Team Members on: July 14, 2015, 07:17:33 AM
Hey guys,

Just wondering, I have to format my computer containing my only NEM Wallet. How do I back it up, format and then restore my wallet so I don't lose all my coins Smiley? Advice is greatly appreciated, Cheers!

Just a heads up for anyone who got Error: 699 when trying to delegated harvesting. Most likely the problem is you left on Local Harvesting as it became active. I have a fix however unfortunately it means waiting twelve hours. You have to deactivate delegated harvesting, stop your local harvesting, then reactivate your delegated harvesting. It is a pain, but hopefully it fixes the problem. Is there a ball park figure for when you can buy XEM straight for cash? I want to start buying $5 worth a week haha. Here is to the day when NEM hits $1 and I can buy a house Wink

sorry guys to be a pain

still the same issue on harvesting

now NIS an NCC are connected and sechronized

I see delegate harvesting is active on the top right on the "importance score"

but when I click on strat delegate harvest I get "error 699"

I guess i'm not harvesting or m'I?

what should I do?

It means you're already harvesting on that node. Did you start harvesting locally ?
You can harvest delegated and locally on one node unless you raise the account limit in the config file.

ok maybe i'm harvesting locally but how do I stop? and how do I see if I'm harvesting or not?

Having the same issue. Where can i check if local harvest is on and where can i turn if off? (prety sure both are on)

My guess right now is that you guys somehow managed to activate both local and remote harvesting or at least the client thinks so.
Klick on stop harvesting (remote or local what ever you see right now). Maybe then the button for the other type of harvesting will re-appear and then you can stop that as well. Then choose one type and one type only and start that.

There is no stop harvesting for me only start delegated harvesting...

I haven't recive and coins from harvest for 12h

how many time should I get coins on avg?

there is no avg for that. It depends on a lot of things.

Could you post a screenshot of the client as you see it right now ?

also try to stop the software (ncc and nis) and restart it. Maybe that will bring the stop button back since the client seems to be confused right now since you clicked both.

I seem to be having the same problem, nothing I have done has helped the situation unfortunately :/. Also where do the wallets save on to on your computer?

That's very odd. The wallet is just a file and files don't just vanish Smiley

Also you still have to have java somehwere as the standlaone still needs java just not the 64bit version.

I found it quite odd too. Haha you're right, I was thinking of my laptop which didn't have Java, I forgot I had it on this computer for Minecraft. I may as well get the 64 bit client then. Although I still am not a fan of it. I also seem to be having the issue when trying to start delegated harvesting which is "Error 709: "The account is unknown. An account needs to be part of at least one transaction (sender or recipient) to be known to the network." Any ideas?

Edit: Upon installing the 64bit client my wallet was found again Smiley.

So once delegated harvesting is active I can start it and shutdown my computer and come back to harvested blocks? Or do I still need to leave my computer on? Sorry if these are stupid questions.
To be able to harvest without leaving your computer on, you have to connect to a remote NIS. The reason is that the node, which is harvesting for you, of course has to keep running.

To connect to a remote NIS, you have to open the Settings (in the menu on the left hand side of the client) and enter a host or IP address of a remote NIS. So you can either run a VPS by yourself and then use the host name or IP of that remote NIS or you find somebody who lets you harvest on his/her NIS.

Okay, that makes sense, thank you very much. Just another quick question. I had to restart my computer, and when it rebooted it didn't have my wallet. I'm running the stand alone version, because I'm not a huge fan of having Java on my system. I was just wondering if anyone would know why the wallet disappeared?

Hey guys I'm not too good with this kind of stuff. How do I set up remote harvesting so I can harvest with the wallet closed? Do I still need my computer on for that? Finally, is POI only important when harvesting? I just want to hold my stake for as long as I can like a savings, I'm not too keen on acquiring more, nor selling off for the foreseeable future. I may use the exchanges with a little just to play around, hoping it's not too pump and dump like most though Smiley. Any help would be appreciated, cheers.

Edit: Also how do I backup my wallet?

http://blog.nem.io/how-to-use-delegated-harvesting/

for backing up your wallet, get a USB key or some other type of storage and connect it to your computer, then go to "export wallet" in the options menu (the down arrow top right corner of the client) and then select a location on the USB or other removable storage device. you can also back it up onto another location on your computer but that sort of defeats the purpose of backing up your wallets. Cheesy

Thank you very much. So once delegated harvesting is active I can start it and shutdown my computer and come back to harvested blocks? Or do I still need to leave my computer on? Sorry if these are stupid questions.

You can't do that yet, but a tool for that will be announced soon I think.

Ahh okay, thank you Smiley

How does one acquire a NEM address and private key?

When will the original stakeholders be getting their PM containing their token? Cheers.

Even though you would have to wait longer to get your stake at the AE, I would still recommend you get acquainted with the system. BTCTalk has known to be vulnerable to attacks.

Just some advice.

Being in group 1, 2, or 3 does not affect your stake in any way. The only thing that would effect your stake is if you got it over the asset exchange, if you get it over AE, you will have to wait a couple weeks after launch to get your stake.

I am not sure of the exact distribution method, I believe it is still under discussion.

Okay, thank you very much Smiley. I will start to try and get myself more acquainted with everything fairly soon.

12  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM Official Moderated Thread [Updates & Discussion][Civilized Discussion] on: June 21, 2014, 02:34:21 AM
Do the type of stakeholder you are affect your stake in any way? As in the three group types of stakeholders shown in the pie chart? Will they affect the stake in any way? Also just wondering how we will be given our stakes (those who are in it for the long haul and are not too fussed on selling up now). Apologies if these have been answered or seem obvious, I'm new to this entire thing and I am a bit confused. Keep up the solid work guys.

I'm extremely excited about NEM and although I have not really been active apart from telling my mates about it, I have been following the thread and NEMs progress closely. Im glad I bought a stake, even if it was at a high price during the very beginning of stakes. The developers and community have blown me away and I will be holding my stake for many years as we push this coin into the world. Congratulations to everyone's successes so dar and may there be many more. We will be recieving our stakes upon alpha launch. Is this correct?

trying out some new ideas:

Something is not right.

Possibly it needs to look more 3D'ish, looks like a flat 2D image or maybe it needs a small black border

When it comes to logos and branding, simpler is better as it makes it more memorable.

Hi guys, just wondering why there is no "Y" next to me in the stakeholders list. The work you have done so far is great for just two developers. Keep it up!

To the best of my knowledge, there are no intentions to do such thing

I hope not :/
17  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [NEM] NEM -New Economy Movement - No Envy Movement - Updates+Discussion thread on: March 31, 2014, 02:25:04 PM
What is this talk about dropping members who have posted only once or a few times? I don't feel it would be that fair to people like me. I have no relevant skills to help out with the project, but I am following it closely as it really looks magnificent and well thought out and I feel there is great potential. I helped out by buying a stake for almost $80AUD, so why should I be kicked from the stakeholders list? I could post more frequently, but the posts wouldn't be of much use and would be buried by the more important stuff.

I understand that everyone is trying to make it the fairest it can be, however we need to be careful. A lot of legitimate new comers put real money into this and it would quite harsh to boot them. As I mentioned I put in almost $80AUD and shortly after the price dropped significantly (over 50%) as a bonus to the last few new comers. I don't mind as I really saw potential with the project and it looks like my investment is paying off, but I would be extremely sad and disappointed if I was kicked from the stakeholders list simply because I didn't post enough. I may not have much to show for on this forum, but I mean it doesn't mean I haven't talked to my friends and people at my uni about the coin.

This is my first cryptocurrency I've put some real (real to me as I don't have much) money into, and I really hope I get to stay a part of it. The developers are doing an outstanding job and the wallet mock-ups look great. I can't wait until the alpha comes.

Whilst I haven't been very active at all due to uni. I would just like to say that I've still been following and am very impressed with how everything is going so far. You guys are being very thorough and enthusiastic with the whole project and it looks to be turning out great so far! I will continue to keep following with excitement! Great job all, to both the developers as well as the members, we will ALL make this coin a powerhouse.

This coin looks like it will explode on launch. I can't wait to see how it will do considering the sheer amount of interested people at such a very early stage.

I know! Cheesy Lets just hope this momentum continues. Keep the chatter up! Smiley

Definitely think it will continue. I'll try and convince some friends to buy at launch haha.
