I have seen many altcoins being manipulated, and when it comes to trading, I do not go near anyone other than Ethereum, otherwise, I trade Bitcoin. However, in investment, I don't have such restrictions so much, and I have been a victim of a few coins/tokens, even as I've also profited from them. One of the few I've been a victim of is $BAKE, Oh my God--I lost so much in this token within 2 years of holding. I misjudged its past performance for future outcomes and paid dearly for it. I saw it ($BAKE) and $HIFI to be delisted by Binance on the 17th of this month (at the same time). I guess Binance doesn't have a chill for crypto manipulation like before, as the manipulation that calls for the delisting is pointed to in the image below, they both happened just last week.
Even whales and exchanges can manipulate the bitcoin prices too, so to fake pump or dump the altcoins, that not a big deal for them. Since the liquidity and volume are less, even injecting a small capital can pump the altcoin price, and if the altcoin is a small cap, it is even easier to pump it. And the example that you gave for BAKE coin, it is the manipulation done by the Binance exchange themselves, first by announcing the delisting, then everybody shorts the coins and they fake it up by manipulating and liquidating all those short positions. |
