Margin UG (haftungsbeschraenkt) at this very moment still sells “lifetime licenses” to customers who might not be aware of ongoing changes (OK new logo and rebranding.) but at the chart I can still buy your product “FOR LIFE” like today? Really? Maybe it is good time to specify the phrase “lifetime license” on the page or remove it.

This morning I spoke with a colleague who is a business law attorney. Showed him Margin's web site, introductory price expiration notice and rebranding notice. I'm not familiar with EU law, but if Margin were a North American entity, they would unequivocally be in legal hot water pursuant to a licensee complaint. Will post an update as I know more...

@rothcom65 thanks for chiming in and your willingness to see both sides.

Speaking for myself here -- as someone who purchased the ultra license in LATE December, have only paper traded (as I felt the software still had some small issues to be worked out)... while I feel taken advantage of, I don't expect Margin to give us lifetime free access to the new model. That doesn't seem sustainable to me. However, I would have appreciated to see a little more effort in extending the free period, or at the very least allowing those who purchased within xx days prior to the rebranding announcement, the option to be refunded, especially if they have not used Leo to trade IRL.

"Your customers" => no, just you...

I beg to differ...

He's simply expressing his frustration which a few of us here also feel.
I've said my bit and moved on.

He isn't threatening to hurt or maim anyone... as a paying customer, he's entitled to his voice.

It is about greediness to capitalize on past users who were fooled to pay a "Lifetime License".

Where did you read a promise for lifetime UPDATES? If they stated that, you may have a case, otherwise you DO have acquired a lifetime license. You can use your product forever. Yes, yes, APIs can change, the old product won't be updated anymore etc., but that would fit in a "lifetime updates" model.

Not updates... he's referring to "Lifetime License" as Margin STILL states on their order page, even though they've decided to pivot to a Subscription base. How could anyone think this is not deceiving to unsuspecting new licensees?

When development ceases on a product, an honest developer should be forthcoming and disclose that they are selling you and EOL product license.

My suggestion would be to have a notice or direct link to the press release on the "BUY" page so that people know exactly what they are getting.

If you click buy we advertise that we are re-branding and link to the post explaining all. This has been on our landing page and pricing page since right after we announced.

So get your facts right before casting stones.

And it still IS A LIFETIME LICENSE.

Come on... Your re-branding link below the offer boxes reads like fine print and can be overseen by some.

Not interested in escalating this debate any further, so for the sake of clarity let me ask you this... If someone were to purchase a leonardo ultra license today for $249, will you continue to support your product even though development has ceased?  For example, if an exchange makes a sweeping API change that prevents users from trading or affects indicators/ bots in some way, will Margin patch leonardo so that it's license holders can resume using your software as it was designed on said exchange?

I can see why some may be angry about it, but at least attempt to see that they are going far beyond what many other companies may do in the same event.

I'm not affiliated with them by the way - I'm just a new user. I'm not even trying to take sides, rather I am just trying to be objective. I can see your side of things, but I still personally lean toward this being a positive overall for everyone.

I've been following LeonArdo's progress since around March of 2016... they're not that new.

@drrelik Thank you for acknowledging my perspective. I also agree that moving forward sans negativity would certainly be best for all here. I was voicing my frustration and simply felt let down by a project that I was excited about and one that I truly believed in. I maintain that Margin could have handled this differently and feel they still refuse to take some degree of ownership in this issue.

Moving forward, it is unlikely that I will 'upgrade' to the new model as there are numerous subscription-based platforms to evaluate first.

I just think everyone gets hung up on the thought that there was a broken promise when there wasn't... Are you all mad at Microsoft for cutting off your XP support/updates?

Case in point. Microsoft had the courtesy of announcing their intent to retire XP well over 12 months prior to it happening.

Had Margin been a little more transparent and simply stated that there was a remote possibility that they would (or were considering) to pivot their model to a subscription-base at the time of the price increase, this debate would most likely not be taking place. Most of us who are unhappy would have been in a better position to make an informed decision as to whether or not to purchase the license at that time.

Of the 7 permitted exchanges, although I've added 1 API key, I have yet to use my paid version of LeonArdo; since it appears to be hit and miss specifically on that exchange. Meanwhile, I've been paper trading while waiting for improvements to come to fruition. What I paid for and what I got are far below expectation (and I'm not alone). This app is clearly useless to me in its current state... as such I am formerly requesting a refund.

I am disappointed with this announcement.

Leonardo/Margin will not fit my needs anymore as a very small investor. Sad
Its a shame I really liked it and will continue using Leonardo until it stops working altogether.

Same. This totally feels like a bait and switch. Extremely disappointing especially considering that the plan offered to "hero" customers seems like an afterthought.

That's what I think also. You're sold software that was advertised for life for a one time fee, then they just change the name and charge a subscription fee. This is a lose a customer business model.

It almost feels like they intentionally moved to create a purchasing frenzy by telling everyone to buy now before the impending price hike. This ultimately resulted in FOMO buying of their app (which is what I did)... while their strategy all along was to eventually move their business model from standalone application to a subscription base.

The change of business model in itself is NOT what I take issue with... it's the timing. This was clearly an opportunistic move,  which is why many of us who purchased licences just a few weeks ago feel cheated.

Thanks for the 2 week notice Margin!

Sure we get to keep our app, but the promise of lifetime updates that were made at the time of purchase are meaningless. I purchased the ultimate license despite their app being riddled with issues. I believed in supporting Margin with the hope that they would eventually evolve LeonArdo into usable state for the majority of it's licensees.

Such a shame.

Any plans on creating a .deb package for the linux version?
This would make the installation process easier.

For those of you who said have lost money with the bot, first make sure you understand what Bollinger Bands are and what the parameters mean. Then, keep in mind this scenario I mentioned: the stop-loss options are your friends, while a minimum gain is not introduced. And no bot is "set-it-and-forget-it".

In my case, the purchases and sales are made without the candles touching the signal lines. I'm on bittrex.

That's weird, could be something related to Bittrex, then... I'm using Bitfinex, and the bot does trigger a buy when touching the lower band, and a sell when touching the upper band.

tested on bittrex and polo, doesn't work for me. bot buys whenever it wants to. mostly it buys on upper BB, what is the worst scenario.

Having the same issue on Bitfinex.

We are looking into various problems often related to slow/erratic behaving exchanges. Are you using Bittrex at the moment?

All the best,

  Rene

Bittrex made me crazy :-) I stop all bots and exit LeanArdo.  Are you sure Bittrex not changed something in the API? Or do they still have performance problems?

Likewise... For me Bittrex data lags and can be erratic during high volume trading periods. I'm finding it impossible to execute a precise order during those times.

Hello , would be nice that you add 1 & 5 minutes charts for bitfinex
thx you

Hi,
The 30min chart has a 1 minute candles. I hope its help you.
Cheers !!!

Yes the "30 minute" chart shows 1 minute candles but for 30 minutes period only whereas exchanges like Bifinex "1 minute" chart shows 1 minute candles but over period of 4 hours so you have a much better overall picture of what is happening which is what i want and think the others want too and hopefully will be in the next release  Smiley

Works fine for me on 10.12.6. Thanks for the heads-up.

Anyone else having issues w/ 10.13.2?

just wanted to do a quick update on my experience.
The support team has been great since the first day. After a lot of tryes i just asked them for a refund and they accepted really fast.
Maybe was my fault, maybe bittrex serves had a little too much problems at the time but i can say for sure i am overall really happy to ha tryed it out.
For everyone willing to try leonardo, go for it, they have a great support and if you don't like it you can always get your moneys back!

have a good day guys Wink

Thx for sharing your experience.

I've had the same issue trying to trade using Bittrex. Until leonArdo switches to websockets for Bittrex, I plan on trading on Bitfinex, which does not suffer from the same latency issues. It's a shame you didn't explore other exchanges before throwing in the towel.

leonArdo@margin, any plans on adding key-combo shortcuts for Cancel order, Adapt price and Adapt amount?

Sequential tabbing across fields and buttons does not seem to work in leonArdo. Is this because of the way the software is written? or can this feature eventually be implemented?

It would be nice to simply be able to hit Tab then Return to place an order instead of having to track the mouse curser from another screen over the Yes button. Speed can sometimes make or break a trade.

I would like the program to have the function of a trained stop loss. Let me explain, I put a purchase order at 0.1 and I want the program to automatically make a sales order when I have a 10% profit, but if I do not reach that 10% I want the value to be watched from 5% if it drops 1.5% of the maximum value, execute the sale order. I do not know if I explained well. I think it would be very useful

Thank's

The software is going very slow and messy with bittrex.

...

I find hard delays and like 5 or even 10 seconds lag about refresh (when i compare with bittrex website directly).

I had the same experience with Bittrex. I believe the lag is API related to some extent.

I'm running in demo mode and have switched to Bitfinex... which is WAY better than my experience with leonArdo using the Bittrex API.
