If there is evidence of alts gaming the system by meriting users to make their 4 from 4 quota will you take action to exclude them from selection?

Yes: if anyone sees that, please make a topic in Meta about it.
This would be one of the time I would like to improve your answer Boss T.

You may be wanting to say, if the evidence is heavy enough then, go. However, please use your best discretion as always.

no offense to your WhOliness TimeLord

None taken - I asked a question and it was answered.  For example, I could ask why the so called "self scratchers" aren't excluded (there's more than you might imagine).

If people choose not to believe evidence, then you have to ask yourself why they are in denial which is a discussion for another thread.

Does it "meta" now?

Today I dont think that they do, but when Im gonna look for a campaign to join, maybe they'll "meta" again.

8  Economy / Reputation / Re: Request Support (or Opposition) for Flags here! on: February 22, 2025, 12:51:18 PM
<Snip>
_I believe Royse have given me another chance, because he withdrew the flag he raised. So to hold the flag against me for valid/invalid reasons not relevant to the flag, is in itself a form of tyranny and despotism.

_So I ask that  this flag be over. If you check the activities, I kind of placed my self in some kind of banishment as penance until I was forgiven by Royse.

You were asked a simple question that required a simple answer to draw the interest of others on this board, and there was no need for the wall of text or the politics you're attempting to play right now.

Royse has forgiven you, and I have forgiven you by withdrawing my support; now you must wait for others to forgive you, each at their own pace.

thanks man. Sorry about the drama.

If theymos were to step down as someone in control of the donated funds, who in your opinion should the funds be entrusted to?

Theymos, with all due respect, you wasted so much bitcoin on this project, you gave thousands of bitcoin to treasurers, you rewarded bitcoin to a thief who stole from you and you still trust him...

Isn't it time to step down and let someone competent control the donated funds?

This part deserves a conclusion too :

Quote
Q: So when is the new forum software coming?
A: Well, according to theymos, some time after February 2015.

as according to Theymos just recently that he find the live demo to be  (as majority of consolidated reactions to the demo) underwhelming and will not pursue it anymore.

Thanks for the heads up, moved the FAQ question to legacy questions. I'll probably remove it after a while (once it's no longer relevant) just like with the previous legacy question.

what you just did

thanks mprep

Code:
iurl
url
Not sure if it really opens differently. It doesn’t seem different on mobile.
The `url` code block is used to insert a hyperlink to a webpage, while the `iurl` code block is used with an anchor within the same thread.

You can see an example in my thread:
Bitcointalk's Important Historic Changes.

In the **Table of Contents**, clicking on "Forum Name" will take you to:
which is an anchor linking to a specific section.

### Example Usage

How to do this?

Code:
[anchor=index]Table of Contents[/anchor]

[list]
[li][iurl=#point1]Point 1[/iurl][/li]
[li][iurl=#point2]Point 2[/iurl][/li]
[/list]

[anchor=point1][b]Point 1[/b][/anchor]
[iurl=#index]Back to the Table of Contents[/iurl]
xxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxx

[anchor=point2][b]Point 2[/b][/anchor]
[iurl=#index]Back to the Table of Contents[/iurl]
xxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxx

### Trying It Out

Here’s an example of using `iurl`:

This iURL link takes you to the top. It can work similarly to a iURL without anchorhyperlink but should be used together with an `anchor`.

I also added an anchor inside your post, which I quoted here.

(No intention to mess up your neatly structured post—just testing it out! And used chatGPT to kind-of organize )

Thanks a lot! Hihihi
I think I can use this like when giving credit, when u use someone else's work as part of your post.

edit :

When previewed the anchor i put inside your post(which was a bit altered by chatgpt) #howto

edit2
Ahh got it it wont change coz i cant scroll anyfurther.  But when I zoomed in, it worked. Hahha

Got it from the HELP > POSTING BBC_BulletinBoardCodes
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=help;page=post#bbcref
Yes, it's part of the bbcode tag for any SMF forum or any bbcode-based forum, but just like I said, it wasn't available or even known to any user here to be used before. Also, all moving images (.gif and .apng) in the forum were disabled, including this one, of course for the same reason (annoying for some or most users)

Theymos disabled it.

I just disabled marquee board-wide. I don't see any use for it.

Theymos disabled it.

The reason he mentioned it is "he doesn't see any use for it" is now too old. He disabled it back in 2011, and it's 2025 now. I don't know if signature was a thing back then, but if it was enabled, I am sure campaign managers would use this tag for their signature campaigns. As some of us are familiar with the other forum, we see that campaign managers actually use this BBCode in most signatures and it's not bad to be honest. It's been 13 long years and since people did not feel the need of that bbcode, let it remain like how it is now.

I had to look up what it's about:
The <marquee> HTML element is used to insert a scrolling area of text.

if it was enabled, I am sure campaign managers would use this tag for their signature campaigns.
Let's not do that! Theymos disabled animated avatars for exactly the same reason: blinking things drawing your attention is very annoying. Every time I use a new browser without adblocker, I'm reminded of how terrible websites are with everything blinking and moving. I don't want that in a book, and I don't want it on my screen.

Just like some other members here have mentioned, Theymos actually disabled it. I think back then animated avatars too were still in use and basically even newbies were able to upload an avatar back then but it made the forum messy. One basic thing I like about the forum is how simple it's interface is .

If everything is animated, the concept may seem fun at first however given the fact that this forum is a place for important and serious discussions, a flashy interface won't look cool.

I had to look up what it's about:
The <marquee> HTML element is used to insert a scrolling area of text.

Yeah old marquee tag... it reminds me of old days of GeoCities I used to abuse this tag so badly!!!!

if it was enabled, I am sure campaign managers would use this tag for their signature campaigns.

Don't worry guys it will be available in new the software Epochtalk

Theymos disabled it.

I just disabled marquee board-wide. I don't see any use for it.
I did not know it.  Cheesy

I am not surprised that theymos disabled it because the head admin is like an old-school man, and he is uncomfortable with animated things. LoyceV pointed that the head admin disabled animated avatars because he felt it is annoying experience.

Here is his announcement.
OK, APNGs are now detected. Old ones are grandfathered for now, in part because people have ongoing campaigns, but in the future I might (or might not) go through and remove them.

It is time to add this change into Bitcointalk's important historic changes.

Don't worry guys it will be available in new the software Epochtalk
Don't try to trigger theymos  Cheesy Cheesy
That's a another level of trolling theymos on the new forum software announcement.

I had to look up what it's about:
The <marquee> HTML element is used to insert a scrolling area of text.
It's like the moving headlines from right to left in the bottom in evey tv news.

As explained above, it is disabled but why are you interested in it or what do you want to use it for?.

Don't worry guys it will be available in new the software Epochtalk
That's a next level trolling when we can really see the announcement made by theymos that he will stop pursuing epochtalk since the developments are going nowhere and it will be only a waste of time it theymos will continue to spend more money to it. I would do the same if it were me even if I am not am expert about websites or how to create it and removed bugs. Tongue

Thank you all.
Was just checking to see why would it be in the help post if its no longer relevant. Also I may have found something that isnt listed there that is still working.

opens help in the same window?

opens kinda different

Code:

dont know yet if it really does open differently. It doesnt seem different in mobile

P.S. would've loved to look further, maybe when Im PC

Kung magrereklamo, ah next event out ka na.

Nakupo. Napakaraming balita tungkol sa mga sextortion modus where mostly the culprit and the victim started interacting via chat.
Catfish naman ata iyong nadaan sa filters or talagang ibang tao iyong na sa pic.
Kung ang mga ito ay rampant na , just because we Pinoys are naturally gullible lalo na if the technique focuses on taking advantage of our sympathetic personalities. Madalas tayong may kinikilingan or bias .
Ako, I have bias in favor of the underdog , or sa dehado. Tsaka iyong storyline ni FPJ na bugbog sa una pero comeback is real nga.

Possibleng Solusyon :

move

Was reading the help section and got excited to find something that is no longer applicable in bitcointalk which makes the probability of collecting recognition(merit) from notoriously hard-to-get-noticed-by members, there must be a better term but my excitement kinda overwhelms the idea of searching for better terminology.
I don't know where you get the idea of marquee tag here, but it was never available since the very start i have joined here (2017) probably it wasnt available in the earlier too as it looks like a very old feature to be used with.

19  Other / Meta / Re: No longer pursuing Epochtalk on: February 06, 2025, 01:05:16 AM
I don't think that that will ever happen, realistically. This whole style of forum is just not as popular anymore. To have even a chance of making it as popular as it was in its glory days, the whole structure of the forum would have to change, and I think that it's more important to retain the fundamental soul of the forum. So I envision the forum perpetually existing as a place for a certain niche crowd who still appreciates this kind of forum. This doesn't mean stagnation: the forum can still grow and improve while remaining niche.

Boss thank you for keeping the forum as it is. A Townsquare for folks to share ideas and dramas.

For what my delinquent behavior is worth,  i find it more comfortable here bitcointalk even if I am not a member in good standing, rather than facebook. Here members are not weighed according to their coins(some maybe), but of merit.

Pls revisit that
homestead
idea instead. Hehe
