1  Other / Meta / Re: joker_josue Merit Source Application - to encourage the Portuguese community on: May 29, 2024, 09:06:32 PM
Even though I'm not active here, every now and then I come and read what people post on this board. joker_josue has been encouraging me to post, as well as helping everyone on our local board.

Although the merit ratio is very low on the Portuguese board, I always try to maintain the quality of my posts and topics when I post there. We have very good posters like bitmover, Pumared, Disruptivas, TryNinja and many others, as well as our prodigy criptoevangelista.

Also, even though I'm not a merit source, I'm quite generous when I send sMerits, usually sending more than 1 sMerit (when I'm high on sMerits).

We believe that you can listen our community @theymos, I believe this will benefit our community as well as maintain the quality of the forum.
2  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Foxbit lança novo cartão de débito/pré-pago on: May 29, 2024, 07:31:57 PM

4  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / [HOW-TO] Import privkeys into a Bitcoin Core descriptor wallet on: May 29, 2024, 06:31:46 PM
Since bitcoin core v21, the structure for generating public addresses has changed to output descriptors and the RPC commands for importing private keys such as: importprivkey or importwallet are obsolete if you are on a descriptive wallet (only legacy wallets are supported by this command).

Bitcoin Core generated BIP32 deterministic wallets at Derivation Path: (m/0'/0') for the three types of scripts: legacy (pkh), p2sh-segwit (sh(wpkh)) and bech32 (wpkh). In other words, they didn't use the standard paths: (m/44'/0'/0'/0), (m/49'/0'/0'/0), (m/84'/0'/0' /0)...

In other words, when generating a new receiving address in Bitcoin Core on legacy wallets, regardless of the address provided, the 3 types of addresses corresponded to the same private key and public key. For those who don't know, the same private key can generate all types of addresses, example below:

Disclaimer: The privkey examples used in this topic are for example demonstration only, do not use this private key or addresses represented here, use your own. Also, make sure you read and understand the purpose of this thread, if you have any questions, don't continue, just reply to this thread and I or others should respond here (be careful with any help received in your PM).

Before we continue: you can import a private key in 2 ways:

If you want to import all scripts belonging to this key (p2pkh, p2wpkh-p2sh and p2wpkh), we use the "combo" command

If you only have a balance in one of these scripts, we use: legacy (pkh), p2sh-segwit (sh(wpkh)), bech32 (wpkh) and taproot (tr).

Initially, let's use the 'combo' command as an example.

With Bitcoin Core running, open the console and follow the steps:

1. In the console, enter your wallet password (if password protected) with
Code:
walletpassphrase "your_hard_passwd" 600

The number 600 is equivalent to the seconds that your wallet is unlocked, it could be any number, for example, 1 minute (60) and so on. Once you have finished importing your privkeys (or handling any sensitive data from or to this wallet), type 'walletlock' on the console to lock the wallet.

2. First you must type "getdescriptorinfo" followed by the type of script (address) you want to be imported, such as "combo" to import a combo of 3 addresses at once that correspond to the same private key, this command is necessary to obtain the checksum, example below:

Code:
getdescriptorinfo "combo(L4Mt9ChtjGHfDT99vWzQ12wMeix2EGa4aY4r8f4tC7Ggov3325nD)"

The information we need is: "checksum": "59sqdw96"

3. Type: importdescriptors '[{"desc":"combo(Your_WIF-Key_here)#Checksum","timestamp":"now"}]'

Code:
importdescriptors '[{"desc":"combo(L4Mt9ChtjGHfDT99vWzQ12wMeix2EGa4aY4r8f4tC7Ggov3325nD)#59sqdw96","timestamp":"now"}]'

Addendum: optionally, you can add a label for this address to be imported, such as "paperwallet". You can add a label after or at the time of import:

Code:
importdescriptors '[{"desc":"combo(L4Mt9ChtjGHfDT99vWzQ12wMeix2EGa4aY4r8f4tC7Ggov3325nD)#59sqdw96","timestamp":"now","label":"paperwallet"}]'

After that, in the Receiving Addresses Tab, you will see the imported addresses together with their key pair:

After that, if this key had already received some balance before, you must give the command rescanblockhain + the block number in which the transaction was validated + block number for Bitcoin Core to stop scanning. Example, if I received a transaction for this imported address, and the transaction was validated at block 555555, just give the rescanblockchain command and some other random block number to stop scanning (otherwise the core will scan up to the current number of blocks of your blockchain), example below:

Code:
rescanblockchain 555555 555558

By this time, if your transaction is included in one of these blocks specified when giving the command above, the balance will have already been updated in your wallet after scanning.
If you have a balance in legacy addresses, segwit addresses, etc. After this command, you will see the balance in all address scripts for your newly imported private key.

If you haven't done so yet, type: "walletlock" in the console to lock this wallet, press CTRL + L or click the X in the upper right corner of the console window to clear any sensitive data entered into the console.
5  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Memecoin Gambling verses Normal Gambling - which is more profitable? on: May 28, 2024, 07:51:42 PM
If you are good at gambling and have a reasonable income that allows you to win more than you lose, it's better to continue with it. However, if we look at memecoins, just like any other bet, you must set aside money that you will not need. For memecoins, the more memecoins you invest, the greater your chances of at least 1 of them exploding in value going to the moon (something around 1000% or more) and this memecoin covering the costs of other operations.

Both are risky, you can double this risk even more if you use leverage on memecoins, if the market goes in your favor, you will obtain exponential gains, depending on the amount, you could even become a millionaire, but who will have the balls to do so?

You can invest $10 in one memecoin, $20 in another and so on. The higher the marketcap and the lower the Circulating Supply, you can invest a larger amount, you don't need to invest more than $30
6  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: People keep asking me to borrow money, some of them for betting on: May 28, 2024, 05:49:07 PM
Hey, what a coincidence
Just yesterday I read an interesting article where the head of a company mentioned the increase in the number of salary advances and found out that it was for the employees to gamble  Cheesy
He even shared a video

Here's the link of the article, but it's in Portuguese, I didn't find any article in English because it happened in Brazil: LINK HERE
For employees of this or any other company who practice this, this can really be considered an illness and should seek treatment. If it were to pay a debt or 'cause it really need it, the advance would be valid. Unfortunately, not everyone is in good financial health, but some of these people don't borrow money that they cannot pay back later.

I had this same experience with friends, workmates, and relatives. They borrow these small amounts on different occasions and tend to 'forget' that they borrowed something. They even go so far as to gaslighting me stating that I should just let it go since it's just a small amount that won't hurt the bank. I let it pass sometimes, but seeing that these same people post their wins from the casino or sometimes even live stream how they play is just really something that icks me.

Since then, I avoided lending money to everyone including my relatives. My line of reasoning is you wouldn't get into that situation if you had sorted your finances. I understand that there are people out there who are really borrowing because they genuinely need it, but my experience on these people who just gambled what they borrowed and forgot what they owed pushed me to become heartless when it comes to such situations.

It's best to not show wealth to everyone and keep a low profile in order to not get bugged by these people borrowing money. I'm better off looking like a broke man in their eyes rather than someone who has the money that they can constantly ask to borrow from when they don't have anything in their pockets.
When a person rarely borrows, it doesn't bother me so much, as we can simply not lend, but I know people who ask me directly, even though I say I can't lend, this is clearly a sign of unpreparedness and poor financial management, these people should look for It helps to learn about personal finance, but here people are indoctrinated into spending more than they earn, unfortunately.
7  Local / Português (Portuguese) / Re: Dados de merit da nossa aba local on: May 28, 2024, 03:54:52 PM

8  Economy / Gambling discussion / People keep asking me to borrow money, some of them for betting on: May 27, 2024, 06:43:01 PM
It has become increasingly common for friends and not-so-close "friends" to come and ask me to borrow money. I don't usually ask for the purpose, but some ask me because of betting at online houses.

The last time I lent money to a colleague, who I hadn't had much contact with other than at work for a short period, it was with great difficulty that I got the money back.

I don't know where people get the amount of money they think I have, they must think I look like a bank...

Who likes having to borrow money? Unless you are a loan shark and lend with collateral where the risk is almost zero, why lend money where you end up with a loss? 'cause in addition to no one paying you with interest, most never pay you on time, at least you will get your money back after repeated charges.

Some people even go so far as to ask me to borrow money for what? to bet!! What a joke. I answer briefly and bluntly that I don't have the money to lend for these purposes!

And the worst thing is that they ask me for small amounts, like $2, 5, 10$... I think that if the person doesn't have that money now, the chances of them getting that money to pay you are low. If the person is in need, it's easier for them to confess right away to see what I can do, because I'm not a bad person.

Do you usually lend money to relatives, friends, etc.? Have you ever felt bad about it, done it unwillingly?

And when they are female friends, do you lend them?

10  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are online/crypto casinos the most profitable digital business? on: May 26, 2024, 10:12:42 PM
Of course casinos are very productive especially in countries and geographical regions where there are a majority of gamblers especially in locations where gambling isn't condemned and is fully legal. Gambling casinos are definitely a productive setup on the side of both the casino and the gamblers however gamblers on the other hand should avoid making gambling their full time job as it can turn out to be very unproductive instead of being productive.
Working as a staff at a traditional and regular casinos is Also a nice job especially in popular gambling locations. The fact is gambling is undoubtedly very popular and therefore the engagements in different parts of the world is very high but is relatively lower in regions where gambling is regarded as illegal by the government.
Certainly working in an cryptocasino, whether in the IT area as a technical support analyst and responsible for Marketing and SEO or even as a community manager, is a great way to enter this ecosystem professionally. Even though we already work (or would it be extra income?) participating in casino signature campaigns is quite exciting too. Because our posts, especially if they are old and useful, will have a better chance of attracting customers to the casino.

Here in my country, gambling is prohibited, but as long as it is an online casino (physical casinos are prohibited here) and regulated by the government, paying taxes, it can operate here, and has attracted more and more customers, especially sports betting. It's already becoming a trend here.

12  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Foolhardy bets. on: May 26, 2024, 04:07:17 PM
I don't bet a lot, because I don't have much time to bet, but if I had or when I had it, I would.

Remembering that I think gambling should be considered fun and not a new source of income.

It's tempting to hear from my co-workers that they won absurd amounts of money enough to buy 2 cars, others don't earn absurd amounts like that, but as soon as they win a considerable amount, they bet on the prize acquired and end up losing almost all the profit.

Did such bet/s change  your gambling styles?

Have you become to be more eager in gambling or , on the contrary it has put a chill on you?
The most I did was trade in the futures market with crypto, using low leverage, as I only do this once in a while, so my habit hasn't changed. When I do this, depending on the amount if it is relatively large, yes, I get anxious.
13  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best Crypto Wallet on: May 26, 2024, 03:47:41 PM
Bitcoin core is a bad choice for many beginners, I said this because OP stated that he is not even holding a lot of Bitcoin, but he planned to hold for the future, I doing someone like him can afford to run Bitcoin core and download that massive data.

It costs me $30 to get 300MB in my country every damn month and Bitcoin core requests over 500MB right now, that will cost a lot, since this is even Bitcoin we are talking about there are many good Bitcoin wallets out there now compare to alt crypto wallets.

I recommend Unstoppable wallet, everything OP asked for is present in this open source non-custodial Bitcoin wallet, Electrum is also a good choice but I can't recommend the Mobile version, it is too buggy, Unless OP has a laptop PC, but Unstoppable is available on mobile phones, the best ever for anyone looking for a Bitcoin wallet for mobile phones.
I don't think so, the OP can choose to enable pruning.

I use an internet of around 50MB and it's been able to download the blocks, I've been using this internet package for 3 years and it's been serving me well.
Unstoppable wallet is a good wallet for both bitcoin and the altcoins it accepts, but I'm not a big fan of these mobile wallets, the most I can recommend is Bluewallet for mobile.

If you can't use Bitcoin Core, use Electrum, you will always have community support as it's the most recognized desktop wallet.

It should also be taken into account that Bitcoin Core validates its own transactions through downloaded blocks, without depending on any third-party node, while in Electrum and other wallets, you depend on third-party servers that may be spying on your balances by labeling activities (some servers may be running by companies like chainanalysis). At electrum, you even have the option to use your own full node to validate transactions, but it requires some skills to install servers like electrs.

16  Economy / Gambling / Re: How Crypto casino market themselves? on: May 25, 2024, 09:03:34 PM
Bitcointalk is probably the best place to announce a new casino or one that has been in the business for a long time, especially a crypto-casino. Whether through ANN pages and signature campaigns on this forum.

If they haven't stopped advertising here it's probably because they are getting traffic to their casino website.

They can also advertise their casinos by sponsoring major football, MMA and other sports teams, of course it depends on the region and local culture, but it is certain that everywhere in the world there is a large number of bettors.

Google Adsense, Instagram, etc. can help in this regard too, but the more ways to advertise the better, I think a company should never depend on just one way to serve ads.

I have seen websites spamming google with strong links and all. Is spamming the only way? any example of successfully running crypto gambling site to do research on?
Most crypto casinos that advertise only on Google and social media and don't have any active advertisements with places where you can report any form of bad experience are always most likely to be scams. This is the reason why I don't trust anything that comes from Google and social media ads unless I have seen it in other places already.

If you are talking about crypto casinos that have been able to make it a success with their advertisements, I will recommend you check out a few of the casinos that are advertising in this forum, including how long they have been here, the success they have achieved within the time frame since they started their business, their marketing in this forum, and the ones they conduct outside of this place too.
I also don't trust anything that is sponsored by Google, maybe they should change that, as there are many reputable businesses that start advertising on direct traffic.

I.g if a casino promotes its brand here, interacting with folks, this is the best way to advertise organically and tends to attract more users, as we see that the casino answers questions and welcomes feedback.

17  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is it proper for younger ones to gamble? on: May 25, 2024, 08:47:17 PM
18 years old. That is the minimum age that I have seen most gambling platforms put as a restriction and as far as I know, it's illegal to gamble or even drink when the minimum age limit is not reached. The sports betting shop owners are just oblivious of it or they're simply greedy without minding the damage that those kids are being exposed to at this early age. With proper education about gambling, I personally think it is harmful to be exposing them to gambling right now.

Kids that age should be focused on getting the basic education they need not gambling. It's a sad reality, really.
Most of the time, minors cannot do many things, such as registering on websites where minors are not allowed and if so, they are unable and protected by law in most civilized countries to frequent certain places and/or consume things like alcoholism, but this is no barrier and what most happens is these same young people breaking the barrier, there is always a gap.

It's possible that your children (if they are underage) are going to prohibited places like casinos and other things.

I think that argumentation will always be the best option than repressing these young folks, always a responsible adult, preferably parents and friends, guide them in an orderly manner without exposing these young people to ridicule. We also have to be careful not to be that stupid adult that everyone hates.
18  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: multibit merchant keys on: May 25, 2024, 06:13:39 PM
i have merchant keys of multibit , i have recovered the wallet from multibit core website but it's syncs very slow , is there any wallet where i can import my keys?

keys format is like this

K-56GF-AHSI-
S-FDHF-FH67-

i'll pay .5 btc if my funds gets recovered Smiley
If you have already downloaded the multibit classic software (today it's only officially available on the developers' github).

If you have the wallet file password, you can use the 'export private keys' feature that is available in the wallet tools tab. You must enter the wallet decryption password and a new password to protect this file, leave without the password (so the file is readable).

This way you can import into wallets like Electrum, Bitcoin Core, Bluewallet etc.

What is very strange is that if I search on Google for multibit classic, I find several sites with beautiful UI Design for such an old wallet, in any case, never download this wallet from sites like this, go directly to github, otherwise, If it's phishing you end up losing all your coins.
19  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Please need help on: May 25, 2024, 06:01:00 PM
It's quite possible that the OP must have a backup file containing the year on filename, which may be why he referred to the wallet number.

But even without any details of the information there is no way for anyone to help, as we barely know if it's a self-hosted wallet or a web wallet.

If the OP had at least informed that he has a recovery seed, he can recover in any renowned wallet, but we don't even know that.

In order for us to help you, you need to help us provide the information that others have already requested.
20  Local / Desenvolvimento & Discussões Técnicas / Re: BIP39 - Palavras específicas? on: May 25, 2024, 05:14:43 PM
