Here's what I think about the whole issue. Barcelona is not in good place financially, so they knew that firing Xavi and hiring a new coach would be expensive for them, so I believe they were exploiting means to afford to let Xavi go and also afford a new top coach but they couldn't put all their eggs in one basket. They couldn't let Xavi go when they're not sure of a replacement or even sure if they can afford the replacement and afford Xavi's sacking, so what did they do? They convinced Xavi to stay. This way if they can't afford a new coach, Xavi stays, if they can afford a new coach, they fire Xavi. They had a fail safe and it turns out in the end Xavi got sacked and Flick was hired. I feel bad for Xavi for been sacked in this way, but I can't blame Barcelona for doing what they did. Hard choices have to be made. They have to protect the interest of the club first before any other. Also, Xavi wasn't impressive this season so sacking him is not the worst of decisions. Considering that Barcelona's finances have not improved, firing the coach should be a bad choice. I must say that Xavi's sacking as coach was the reason for how unprofessional Laporta was in solving internal problems and his ego in leading Barcelona, of course. It was a decision that seemed forced even though on the one hand Xavi was considered wrong, especially in making statements about the club's financial problems. Laporta was offended by this and his ego got Xavi fired after deciding to stay for next season. Xavi is a good coach who has done various things to make Barcelona rise from adversity. T. Kroos is one of the best players of his generation in football, a prolific midfielder with admirable accuracy with the ball. So sad that everything that has a beginning does surely has an end too and this day happens to be the turn of Kroos leaving Real Madrid and professional football. For me it's nice of him to leave at this time so to give opportunity to young talents in the team and i feel Luka Modric should do same anytime soon. What a legend! There are plenty of players who were just as good before Kroos has retired from football, so now it's clear his turn may have come. Generations will continue to change and every player will retire when the time comes when they feel their energy is no longer stable, but for Kroos I think he can still play for more than the next 2 seasons. I'm not sure what caused Kroos to decide to retire when many other players still wanted to play longer, but in terms of achievements, Kroos basically has everything. I could remember back then when he could run so fast, strike without minding if he is going to have any injuries at the end. Its so painful that is coming to an end which he knows full well. Bringing another striker to the team might work out well for them, but lets be honest how do you think the new striker would cope together in the pitch with Lewandowsky unless they will be starting the new striker instead of Lewandoski and then maybe during the second half they can bring him in to substitute and play for some time. Honestly he wont be Barcelona first choice of striker. Lewandowski is a striker who so far I still consider a productive center forward in La Liga. He has scored 18 goals and 8 assists in La Liga this season in 34 appearances, certainly not bad for a center forward who will be 36 in August. Lewandowski is desperate to stay and become Barcelona's main center forward, but ultimately he may face competition considering Barcelona must also prepare to lose him in the coming seasons. Barcelona has 2 other center forwards in their squad, they are Vitor Roque and Marc Guiu. The two players I mentioned are still young and have little experience, but Xavi sometimes gives them minutes in some matches so that Lewandowski can play better. Of course Barcelona needs a younger, stronger and more productive striker, that's because I'm sure Barcelona can't rely on Marc Guiu and Vitor Roque next season. |

Actually Arsenal was not focusing on the Champions league, the reason they failed to win the league was because they were inconsistent at some point in the league which was late last year and how these three teams Liverpool, man City and Arsenal were going during the league season shows Liverpool were title favourite but they end up bottling up the league with a disappointing season ending performance while at that time Arsenal as already been written off but we can say Arsenal did better than their last season because of the consistency they showed during 2024 session of this concluded season. Any team who really wants to win the league now must be aware that in order to out perform Man City they need to be consistent throughout the whole season. I came across several Arsenal fans in the last few days. They told me that Tottenham and a few other teams really didn't want to help Arsenal win the title, especially since they couldn't beat Manchester City. Some time ago it was said that Tottenham fans would rather lose than see Arsenal win, that was clearly very painful for Arsenal to hear. However, basically Arsenal is not a team that has a winning mentality. They still depend on other teams for their fate instead of doing something for themselves. Arsenal must be able to beat Manchester City's dominance if they want to win the title, of course they also can't expect other teams to help them in critical times, especially when it comes to beating Manchester City. So it's a bit embarrassing to say that other teams don't want to help, while Arsenal themselves have failed to maintain their performance and consistency in winning points. |
