In a cryptocurrency world where coins pump then dump to the basement of Coinmarketcap,  its good to see a solid coin like UNO.

Unobtanium was traded hard on Bittrex and other exchanges yesterday, at one point was up 500%, as an investor took a major position in UNO. People have been asking a lot of questions about UNO as a result of the activity, and may people are discovering this venerable old coin for the first time. Here is a UNO primer to get you up to speed fast.

The price of UNO had been extremely low going into February, 2016 as a result of people using it to escape Cryptsy.  Since the Cryptsy dumping stopped, UNO had made a steady recovery from .0029 btc to .006 over the past 6 weeks or so.  Yesterday, someone put UNO on the board with nearly 200 BTC of trading.

If you're new to Crypto, you probably don't know UNO or why it's different. Here's some things you should know about Unobtanium

* UNO was fairly launched in 2013. There was no premine, no instamine, no stealth launch or any of the usual fakery. First 1k blocks were low reward to let miners set up their equipment.  In fact, the developer even paid miners for a few UNO for the faucet he set up. It is 100% open source and contributions to UNO are welcome.

* UNO is SHA256, 3 minute blocks (3x faster that bitcoin) with KGW difficulty adjustments every block. It is merge mined with Bitcoin, and has a solid hash rate that is often measured in Petahashes.

* UNO is rare. So far, 197,000 UNO out of the 250,000 UNO max has been mined. There are 53k more to go, but it will take 300 years to reach the 250k limit.  UNO is guaranteed to pay miners a reward for the next 300 years.

* UNO is low inflation. No worries about having your stake diluted with POS or a rapid supply curve.  

* UNO has a solid network with plenty of nodes.  No network issues here.

* UNO is well supported with lots of wallet options, including Electrum, JS Wallet, Copay, Android wallet, and is part of Uberpay multicoin wallet.

* UNO is a basecoin at Cryptopia exchange. You can directly exchange about 200 alts directly for Uno. It's also on Bittrex, C-Cex, SafeEx, and Bleutrade, among others. You can also get it on Shapeshift.

I think he should. But I like to keep an open mind.

With Uno, the dev is not the coin. Uno is a community. I can remember a time when Uno had no dev, but the community kept it alive anyway.

Uno is now in it's 5th month of steadily rising prices, hanging around #40 on CMC and 550k cap.  It sure isn't because Bryce ever pumped Uno. In fact, some of us thought he should do more to promote Uno. Last month he called-out what he thought was a Uno pump and pissed off some long-time community members when a small selloff ensued. Still, Uno keeps climbing back, even with Bryce as dev. He has done a lot for Uno, but nobody can claim he is pumping it.

All that said, convince me that there's no place for BW in Uno, which is an open source piece of software.

Convince me he did something evil to Uno (I really don't give a shit about Naut, Razor or any other BW coin. They are not Uno, and not the subject), that the marketcap would be higher without him. Tell me how he's abused his trust as a Uno developer.

Prove that investors are "Shying away," because of BW, or just make a reasonable case for it.  Show me that the marketcap would be higher without him. Sure didn't work that way for Razor.

I'd like to hear what you think.

Uno (aka Un) is rare, fair SHA256d, pure Proof of Work cryptocurrency with fast 3 minute block targets and KGW difficulty adjustments every block.
It was fairly launched October 18, 2013 by Blazr2.

There was no pre-mine of Unobtanium, not even a single block, and no IPO. There is no POS inflation. The launch was an undisputed fair start, with low rewards of .001 Un the first 2000 blocks to give all miners a fair shot. Unobtanium's blockchain (aka "The Rockchain") has been consistently mined at high difficulty since it's launch.

Block rewards began with 1 coin per block, halving every 100,000 blocks and finishing with a minimum subsidy of .01 Un. The final 250,000th Un will be mined in 2043, or 30 years.

Uno is often referred to as a crypto-commodity due to it's rarity and desirability, and it's tendency to hold it's value even in a declining Bitcoin market.  Uno has an active community, a trust-based exchange,  a secure merged mined blockchain.

Take a look at Unobtanium, and you'll quickly see that it is set apart from other cryptocurrencies in important ways, including low inflation, community, longevity, fairness, rareness, distribution, simplicity, security, and optimism. Uno is a different kind of cryptocurrency, and is well on its way to becoming the first cryptocurrency desired as a non-asset backed commodity.

Merge Mining/AuxPow
Uno implemented merge mining with Bitcoin at block 600,000 in May, 2015. Merge mining allows a Bitcoin miners to also mine for Uno. As a result the security of Uno's blockchain increased significantly. Bitcoin miners earn more for their hash, while contributing to the security of Uno's blockchain. Miners will continue to receive Uno block rewards for the next 30 years.
