61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / [Resolved] Setup Reaper miner (GPU) for my main PC on: July 14, 2012, 07:43:23 PM
I'm looking for some sort of guide as to how to setup the Reaper (GPU) miner on my main PC as it has a decent card I'd like to make use of.Is it possible for someone to make a config suitable for an HD6950 with unlocked shaders to make setup more painless so I can get past that compiling part when you first run it? How can I make sure it only mines LTC rather than any other currency in Reaper?

Any help would be appreciated.Smiley
62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / My Dream Islands games gambling venture supports LTC on: July 13, 2012, 08:11:22 PM
I'm posting this because I'm pretty much looking forward to unveilling the new and improved games in less than 2 days now.I've added LTC support so people can now enter with Litecoins as well as BTC.Read more:https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=90059.0
I figured that since LTC doesn't have as many places to gamble with as BTC does,I figured I'd do my bit to change that. Please give feedback and enjoy the games when they are unveilled.

Just curious, how many places are there to gamble for, with LTC at the moment?

I'll be adding a new feature where there'll be games that are either specific for LTC only or games that can be entered with BTC/LTC as things develop.

The winner selction is based on the blockchain (it's a hybrid system but still a step in the right direction) now.
63  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / LTC hash power question with my GPU on: July 06, 2012, 04:34:09 PM
I'm curious to kno if there's any idea on what kind of hashpower I should be expecting for my HD6950 gpu when mining LTC as I've heard of people who successfully run a gpu miner to mine LTC.I just got into LTC mining as well as BTC mining after finally getting and finding a suitable LTC miner that works on my mining/work rigs.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Smiley
64  Economy / Gambling / [Now open] Dream Islands games on: June 26, 2012, 03:43:51 PM
Welcome to the new and improved games which is now open.
Expect to hear more about the new and improved games soon.
The old thread was locked as that was no longer relevant to these games now.
More info is available on the updated website:http://film2240.webs.com/dreamislandsgames.htm

Benefits (quote from the website):
1.Better and fairer winner selection system (now based partly on the blockchain although this is under development.)
2.New game types such as The Redeemer (gamble for good causes.1/3 of winnings go to good causes while you get to keep 2/3 of total jackpot) as well as other games to play.
2b.The winner gets to choose which good causes the 1/3 of the jackpot goes to. If no choice is made, this'll go straight to the Dream Islands Foundation (a non-profit that decides which good causes the money goes to).
3.More anonymous (i.e no need to tell me you've entered anymore as I've managed to find a solution to this now.Use the website to enter.)
4.More frequent games. (once a fortnight rather than once a month although this is improving)
5.Higher stakes = bigger jackpots.
6.Hopefully more interesting Smiley
7.Each game type will be unique in some way so that no game feels the same or gets boring.(E.g The Redeemer game type has a different method of winner selection to the lottery.)
8.The games will be more inclusive for everyone (i.e newbies will no longer be left out like before where the newbie friendly games was released later than they should have).
9.The games will continue the tradition of democratic feedback which equals a higher quality experience while giving the freedom to change what each round/game should be like depending on user preference.

Available games (currently available):
1.Round 2 of the lottery.Entry is 0.1 BTC now and 20 LTC
2.The Redeemer (gamble for good causes) 0.2 BTC entry fee and 40 LTC
3.BTC Bingo (Entry 0.05BTC and 10 LTC)-Enter by posting 6 random numbers of your choice. Each number can be from 0-50.The draw will begin after the 2 week round ends.
4.More will come over time depending on feedback of users.
5.[New entry] Litecoin gambler-Enter by sending 10 LTC to LbTrAtf67th7DR9jeYgmLnSGAe89SrEEHj and by simply posting your LTC address.Winner will be chosen randomly via same system that goes for all games now.

Just a taste of things to come. Trolling is not welcome.I'm now welcome to feedback and suggestions on what you think of the new and upcoming developments. Smiley
65  Economy / Trading Discussion / Question on how to sell debt here/other trading ideas on: June 14, 2012, 05:48:17 PM
I've been surfing the forums for sometime to see what the climate was like as a lender myself.I've seen a few lenders having to sell off debt.Question is how do I go about it on here? Would auctions be best? Would it be nice to offer a little extra to the highest bidder(s) or would that just complicate things?

Any helpful feedback would be welcome. No trolls please, thank you.Praises and constructive criticism is welcome. Smiley

I'm looking for people who are intersted in buying ads space.I will make sure my price is more reasonable.

67  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / I wish to learn how to compile my own Bitcoin client from source on: May 05, 2012, 11:20:44 PM
Hi,
After spending quite sometime on these forums, one thing has come to my mind time and time again.I wish to learn how to compile my own client from the source code provided so that I can improve my ability to program plus try to adapt it to my phone or other platforms that I own.I don't plan to make a new currency at this point.I'm mainly doing this just to experiment.
I have Xcode so I'll start off with that on my Mac as I find it easier (but it'll end up on the mac this way as a dmg or a .app file.)

I'll be happy to accept constructive feedback (praises, tips, criticisms,no trolls please) as this'll help me with my goal as I feel that sometimes the best way to understand something is to try to compile it yourself.

I'm not sure where this fits so if it's not in the right area, mods feel free to move this to the proper area on here.
68  Bitcoin / Mining support / CGminer issues on: May 01, 2012, 09:08:09 PM
Hi,
I was recently introduce to cgminer by a member of the ozcoin IRC chat after I reported an issue where the connections from GUIMiner/Phoneix miner kept dropping out with the pool. I have just started using cgminer and so I have very basic to no knowledge of using it fully.

Questions are:
1.How can I stop it prompting me to re enter login/pool details on every restart of the app?
2.What does 'thread 1 disabled' mean? This appears just before mining begins, then things run fine.
3.I get around 372Mhash/s typical at 885MHZ core cock and 320mhz mem clock on my HD6950 with this miner compared to nearly 400Mhash/s with the Phoneix/GUIminer.How can I use flags to boost the speeds to what I'm used to seeing from my card?
4.How many threads does my card have and what do threads mean in this app?

i want a clear, easy to understand answer that can help me resolve the issues highlighted above as I checked the readme and it's written in a way i can't fully understand this.I don't want trolls please as I just want a straightforward answer to the issues above.

Thank you
69  Economy / Lending / Dream Islands banking and loans [on hold] on: April 14, 2012, 11:08:32 AM
I'm offering loan lending services for people who need them.I can offer small loans to people who need them. These will take the form of micro-loans (that bear interst) at first but if my business expands, then I'll be able to offer normal loans as well. This will be carreid out under the brand Dream Islands banking (for now)
I'll only lend to people who meet certain criteria:
1.Not a scammer (that's really a no brainer)
2.The person must have some positive reputation or other evidence that you've paid back loans from before.Successful trades and all loans being repaid will be good as well.(I won't lend to people with little rep unless I have been dealing with you before and I know you can pay it back. The gorgo1 loan request threads are an example of what I'm talking about)
3.The person must be able to pay back within a week as these are short term loans (unless we agree different terms due to circumstances).
4.I can also lend to people as part of a larger loan request but terms must be discussed before this happens.

I have around 4BTC 0BTC available to lend at the moment and I can offer micro loans as well.

An example of interest rates to expect (the larger the loan the more you have to pay and this is dependant on reputation as discussed below):
If a person borrows say 1BTC,I'd have to ask for 1.4BTC payback
If 2BTC was borrowed then 2.5BTC would be given back.

Reputation is important as I use this to help work out the interest rate I should charge you (as higher rep borrowers will benefit from lower interest rates in general while low reputation members will have to pay more in interest but this will be capped so that the interest rates don't become ridiculously high like in some other lending places)

This is generally the kind of interest I'd have to charge (This keeps the loans business afloat while giving me room to expand it more easily). If you want a loan from me,just reply to this topic. Smiley

Update:Changed the name to reflect the general brand name of my other business ventures which will later be combined under one roof (eventually). As a bank and lending service, can a mod please sticky this thread? Thanks.

71  Economy / Trading Discussion / Queries about reputation on: April 01, 2012, 08:16:23 PM
Hi,
I have heard of people getting a reputation with OTC or something.Thing is how can good customers like myself get added on there? As I've had successfully trades with moredropbox with his service and gbr for his graphics design work for my film poster.

Also if OTC isn't the proper name for this, what is the proper name for that system? I think we should focus on mentioning good people as much as we do exposing scammers on here as it'll boost confidence when people like me don't know who to trade with.

Any info will be helpful.
72  Economy / Trading Discussion / I wish to trial a content subscription system with BTC for media content on: April 01, 2012, 02:30:45 PM
I am working on a content subscription system that will give the paying person access to all paid-for content on my blog (that was created under the brand-Dream Islands Publishing).
At the moment I plan to make this a one off fee for a lifetime membership as the BTC protocol and system isn't really designed to handle monthly subscriptions like the Direct Debit system is in the UK.

Here's what I hope to achieve:
1.A one-off fee that give's a lifetime acess to all content that is produced (that's paid for)
2.A straightforward system for everyone to manage, signup to and understand.
3.The content delivery shall have a diverse range of content (this means written articles, videos, sounds, images and perhaps even some items I create that can be licensed in other people's works)
4.A simply step system which goes something like this: person sends payment to me > the person then PMs me asking for a pass (code) to grant access to paid for subscription) and all content for this) > easy access to all content paid for by lifetime subscription > job done Smiley
5. A 1 BTC one off fee for life for every member. This beats (nearly all) media subscriptions and magazines in most of the world. (and real life-look at subscriptions in the UK and you'll see what I mean)
6.A recognisable brand for this service that people can understand and later come to trust. (Like Dream Islands Publishing)
7.Later on, once the setup is more established, this will expand to let guest writers get a piece of the pie (funded by making their articles pay-per-view rather than part of the subscription,if people don't feel ready to buy a full subscription yet that is.)

Any feedback will be helpful and please no scammers or trolling as that's not constructive for anyone here. Why make this system? I feel it's high time that Bitcoin be put to more media friendly applications that are also straightforward. I saw how successfull Matthew N Wright was with his magazine subscription: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=61017.0 and I figured if that can take off so can this.

When the trial roll out starts, you'll see an update on here for the first 5 testers who will enjoy a special subscription rate (instead of the usual rate) that will be for life.
73  Economy / Marketplace / I'm looking for the person who once offered a mining contract on: April 01, 2012, 01:52:34 PM
Hi
I'm looking for the person who offered a mining contract that cost 0.5BTC and offered the mining of 250,000 shares or something to that effect. I forget who he is or if the offer is still open.if this offer is still runnning, please let me know on here so I can give info about the miner settings. Thanks

Edit:Updated the title to clarify the topic of this post.
74  Bitcoin / Mining support / Need info about Catalyst 12.2 and effect on mining performance on: March 22, 2012, 09:32:00 PM
Hi guys,
I wanted to switch on the AMD video converter feature by installing the media pack, but when I tried to install it asked me to update my drivers (as I'm ok with 11.7 atm in terms of mining performance and also it won't let me just install the feature while leaving my drivers alone).

Question is does catalyst 12.2 improve or degrade mining performance?

Your feedback will be very helpful to me.
75  Economy / Gambling / Dream Islands lottery (win up to 20BTC jackpot) on: March 05, 2012, 11:48:32 PM
Hi,
I'm launching a lottery.I plan to make this a good, fun and fair game for everyone.Since I'm new to this I'll be open to feedback before I relaunch this officially. You are all welcome to suggest, praise, critique as you please but no trolling please as I'm very new to launching and running these games.

It's all here: http://film2240.webs.com/dreamislandslottery.htm
All intents and info is fully transparent. It's a simple pay for a lotto ticket to enter like in other games now.

I'm looking forward to hearing feedback and working with you all to make this a great lottery.Thanks. :-)

You can enter by entering here as well now: 1Dd8ZWThgFW97toK7kvrbVLpiNBQPTaheJ

Edit:added an easy payment button so you don't need to ask me or go through me anymore which should speed up the entry process and people can now enter even when I'm offline.

My lottery website has now undergone some updates containing the easier to use payment method as well as more up to date information.Expenses have now been reduced by a fair margin so for the first time, there may be a little bonus from the reduced expenses added to the jackpot. You'll find out how much when the winners have been picked at the end of the round.

Please test this button and see if it works for me as I'm new to using bit-pay.com.It'll ask for an email but don't worry it'll just send you a recipt. Only thing to do is once you get a recipt,Just PM me so I can give you a ticket no along with your forum name so I know it's you.
76  Economy / Marketplace / Looking for a service that lets me buy BTC with SMS/calling from UK on: March 05, 2012, 11:21:14 PM
Hi
I'm looking for a service that lets me buy BTC with SMS and making a phone call to a number.I need a service that takes SMS/calls from UK as dialcoin stopped working with UK and I wish to obtain a few via SMS from UK.

Thanks

It's probably best if posters just list what they know fits these requirements or is international if not UK (but one of these must accept from UK) as this could be a long thread otherwise.
77  Other / Meta / Re: Forum moderation policy on: March 05, 2012, 05:31:28 PM
The policy to not remove anything worked when the forum was small. Now that we have thousands of posts a day, we can't afford 50% of them being junk. The moderators are now instructed to be less tolerant of low-value posts.

Some guidelines:

1. Free speech - you can say anything as long as it is relevant and presented in a calm and polite manner. Swearing, SHOUTING etc. make your post more likely to be removed.
2. No zero value posts or threads, like "SELL SELL SELL"
3. No pointless or uninteresting threads.
4. No referral code spam
5. No NSFW content
Can we please add that being rude to people gets the post removed (if someone finds it offensive,it should be removed asap to minimise needless anxiety caused by the culprits posts. This is how all other forums work except this one.Stop hiding behind freedom of speech for culprits)? As I really had enough of the issues form time to time on here. Please consider my feedback. If the ill courteousy issues were resolved I'd feel happier to be on here and part of BTC whereas right now, the overly hostile responses I sometimes get are putting me off BTC in general. Please stop being hands off in moderating  and make it so that being offensive gets posts removed quickly to spare me distress caused by such posts.
78  Bitcoin / Pools / Looking for a new pool on: February 18, 2012, 11:28:40 AM
I'm looking to switch away form bitcoins.lc (aka bitlc.net) as it is too bug ridden for my liking as any other day now a new issue crops up.I'm looking for a pool that gives me the most BTC from my efforts (whatever payment system does this I'm interested in)

I don't mind having to use a rather large pool if need be but fees must be very low or free (Deepbit charges a fee but offers a lot more than my pool). All I care about is a straightforward pool that is generally reliable that pays me the most for my efforts (400MHash/s).

P2P pool is not an option as I've heard complaints of people getting less for their hashes than a traditional pool as well as a complex setup (Shouldn't take more than creating a user account and setting up your worker and be done, anything more is a definate no-no)

I'm open to most types of offers (including refferals providing that they give me something in return for following them) from users of other pools that have had a relatively trouble free experience.

Thanks
79  Bitcoin / Project Development / Suggestion-Bitcoin fundraiser tools/methods on: January 19, 2012, 06:16:44 PM
I've got a suggestion. You know when charities and people try to raise money for either good causes or for other things like kick starting projects (reminds me of kickstarter.com)? The issues that always seems to get in the way is all the bank details and personal details that seem to be required just for handling transactions.I would like someone to be able to create a version of this where:
1.It's easy to accept bitcoins
2.Feature a fund raiser gauge (to show the target and what is currently raised so far, helps people gauge their efforts)
3.Easy to embed into most websites (HTML as wordpress.com is a pain about certain forms of coding)

If such a solution already exists or if someone is working on it,can it be mentioned here? Thanks.I feel it's high time that BTC are used in more traditional situations like fundraisers (as I think charities and other people will benefit from this).
80  Economy / Marketplace / Film production services-gauging interest on: January 15, 2012, 08:13:31 PM
I'm just gauging interest but how many people on here could use a film editor (including sound work) to edit a film that you've already created but just need edited for you?

If you are interested then can you please PM me with the film that needs to be edited, and the price you wish to pay. It's best if you upload your film (and all necessary files) to be edited to a file host then send me the link so I can get started straight away along with additional requirements for the film (such as what things you want done with it as well as when it needs to be done by).

If you are interested then send a PM with the details (including when you need it to be done) so I can give a quote and if you're happy with the quote,I'll accept payment and we'll take it from there.

Thanks.
