23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / NVIDIA Launches GTX 1050 With 3 GB VRAM – Improved Core, 96bit memory on: May 21, 2018, 01:57:36 PM
"Specifications wise, the new GeForce GTX 1050 model boasts the GP107 GPU which looks to be the same SKU as the GTX 1050 Ti. This core features 768 CUDA cores, 1392 MHz base clock and 1518 MHz boost clock. The core specifications alone make it faster than the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. But in terms of memory, we are looking at 3 GB VRAM, a 1 GB improvement over the previous GTX 1050 but still 1 GB less than the GTX 1050 Ti.

The memory is clocked at 7 Gbps just like all the other 1050 (Ti) models but is featured along with a 96-bit bus interface with a memory bandwidth of 84 GB/s. The card is still suggested to feature the 75W TDP so we can expect connector less and single 6 pin connector custom models in the market soon"

24  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Vega 56 low Hash Rate on: May 19, 2018, 12:09:23 PM
(Edited, question changed)

I am getting only around 800 something H/S (Cryptonight heavy) in a single Vega 56. I have never mined with Win10 and AMD before. All of my Nvidia rigs are on HiveOS.

So in Afterburner settings are :
PL : -25 (temp limit : 60)
Core Clock : 1622 (stock)
Memory : 890
Fan speed : 56  (and temp is around 58-60C)
Latest drivers and just enabled HBCC which boosted some hash rate. I will look into how to load Vega 64 bios later but what can I do now ?

26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Problem installing updates on windows on: May 12, 2018, 08:47:07 PM
First time trying win10 for mining, so after downloading some insane amouny of GBs (updates) now it doesn't install them. It gets stuck at preparing to install (in settings -  Updates) in various percentages for hours like at 33%, 78% etc. and finally it somehow completed and then said error retry, something like that. So how do I do this ? I can't even update my gpu drivers from device manager and if I try to install drivers from cd it says the current OS is not supported.
27  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Is Antec HCG-850 good for mining ? on: May 10, 2018, 12:19:49 PM
I will be using it for one Vega 56 but in future I will complete the rig with 6-8 high end cards(different models) so I will add two more 1000w PSUs. So is 2850w good for 6-8 big card rigs or should I go with 1000w on all three PSU.

And is this model Antec HCG-850 good for mining ? Released a month ago

28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Vega 56 minimum system requirements for mining ? on: May 08, 2018, 05:51:23 AM
Can I mine on pc with intel e2180 dual core 2.0 and 4 gb ram on intel dg31pr and CoolerMaster MWE 450 (450w) 80+  ?
I have a single msi vega 56 air boost which I not attached yet as it says on packaging minimum 8gb ram and 650w psu is required. I will not use it for gaming.
My PSU has 2 6+2 pin on same cord and yes my MoBo has PCI-E x16 and x1. I will plug it in x16
29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Is this setup safe ? (Molex to Pcie adapter and satas...) on: May 08, 2018, 04:45:29 AM
Hello, I recently got two new Antec Earthwatts Gold Pro 750w from antec service centre in exchange for two dead True Power Classic 750w (for free !). Now TP classic was non modular and so it had loads of cable to power my 12*1050ti rig safely.

Now this semi-modular PSUs have very few cables for my need. It only have 4 PCI-E each so only 8 of my cards will be powered. It has 2 molex cable on each PSU, so I was thinking of using a molex to Pcie adapter (one molex for one pcie NOT 2 molex for one pcie) to power my 4 gpus. I mean 1050ti are very low power right ?

Earlier I was powering my risers with molex but now I will have to use sata. I was powering two of my riser with sata earlier too.
So one my connection will be one molex power my gpu with molex to 6pin pcie adapter and then power two riser with sata. So there are 3 connection on single cable. Is this extremely dangerous or it's alright- not too bad but not too good. I don't want to buy another PSU. Again I think 1050ti are low power.

Thank You
30  Other / Off-topic / GAmers, help me build gaming rig ! on: May 06, 2018, 09:21:28 PM
So I will be making my first gaming rig now. Please suggest my the best components mainly I am confused with processor & MoBo. I want to make a good rig (very realistic and practical rig instead of buying top of the line in everything).
I am getting a galax 1080 for $553 which is good price for my country. I want to know will 1080 become obsolete once new cards come out. I want my rig to remain future proof till end of 2019. Will people say "meh" if I tell them I have 1080 in 2019 ?

Processor and MoBo are main concern. According to this article (www.gamingscan.com/best-cpu-for-gaming/) i3-8100 or Ryzen 1600x are the best but it doesn't say anything about new Ryzen Vega gpus. Which one are good that will not burn my pocket. I3-8100 is really cheap but it's MoBo are expensive. Please suggest best processor and its respective Mobo (suggest 2-3 MoBo).

I might buy all of the components today.
Thank You
31  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Best GPU for mining on desktop (2 PCI-E) ? on: May 06, 2018, 09:01:59 PM
Today I gave new life to my 11 yo desktop. An Intel E2180 Dual Core 2.0 Ghz on Intel DG31PR. New cpu-fan, New 1tb hdd and new PSU (Cooler Master MWE 450) with 2*2 GB ddr2 ram.

So i also attached a 1050ti to practice mining on windows 10 (all of my rigs are on HiveOS and I want to switch now) and it went alright. Now I am think buying 2 GPUs for mining on it. It has one PCI-E x16 and one x1.
I know that gpu mining at a very high risk now but I will be building a gaming rig this year too so one of the gpus will be still useful if not for mining. So what do you think will work on my 450w CoolerMaster MWE ?

Where I live prices were always high compared to US. So here are approx prices I can get now :

Inno3d  1080                          $553     (looking best to me)

1080ti                                      $850-$950 (going rate)

Msi 1030 3gb                         $285

MSI Vega 56 airboost OR sapphire pulse vega56
                                                  $823 & $880

Sapphire pulse RX580 4g     $419
Sapp        pulse      570 4g     $389

New gtx series won't come within next 3 months but by then I would have got some roi on these cards.

32  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Mining rig died :( on: May 04, 2018, 10:52:39 PM
My mining rig was stuck on a loading screen due to some missing files on HiveOS (it happens sometimes, no big deal) so I was unable to restart it from reset button so when I tried to switch it off from the power strip, the power strip button got stuck halfway and then there was little sparking sound  in the switch and I could see a little sparking from that stuck switch and then I immediately switched off from the board. Now I attached a different power strip and rig is unresponsive. Nothing happenes.

I am sure this will cost a lot but I wish my 12*1050ti are safe. I will take the two PSUs (Antec True Power Classic 750w) for repairing today and see what happens. Maybe my motherboard is dead too. All because of a faulty switch of power strip. Do you think I can claim warranty on any of these ?

If auto power up option was off, I think my rigs would have survived. I can't smell anything burning though.

34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / HELP: Ethminer disconnects after few hours. on: April 30, 2018, 05:26:26 PM
For the past few days my ethminer (on HiveOS) disconnects after a few hours of mining. No matter what coin I mine, which pool I choose. After I restart the miner it continues for few hours.

I am not sure if this matters but I think it started when I started mining ETC a few days ago. (Now I am back to ETH)

Error looks like this :

Could not connect to stratum server asia1.ethermine.org:4444, Operation canceled

Disconnected from asia1.ethermine.org

Retrying in 3...
Not-connected
Retrying in 2....
Retrying in 1....

It keeps on repeating the same thing until I restart ethminer. Help.
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Could Asus Arez bring AMD prices down ? on: April 26, 2018, 07:16:49 AM
I was going to buy some Vega 56 but since Asus has launched (rebrand) AREZ series could that bring older Asus non rebranded AMD gpu's prices down ? Will it affect other brands prices too as more gpu starts flowing the market ? Should I wait till AREZ is in the market or it won't make much difference ?
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Best way for adding gpus in Windows ? on: April 20, 2018, 05:57:04 PM
I have never mined on Win10. All of my rigs are currently on HiveOS. Now I bought a ssd and I have Installed window 10 pro on it. So how do I do this with my 12 gpu rig. Do I just plug it and run it and see what happens ? I read that I will have to install the gpus one by one.

My rig is tower style (6gpu on each side) so it will be very hard if I remove the power cables as I have a non modular PSU and it is very frustrating to remove the cables from my tight rig. Do I just remove the riser cable from mb without removing the power cables and install them one by one ? Help please.
37  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / US authorities launch major probe into bitcoin trading ! on: April 18, 2018, 04:30:18 AM
www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/news/bitcoin-price-cryptocurrency-exchange-coinbase-gemini-investigation-new-york-a8309261.html

"The New York Attorney General has launched an investigation into 13 major cryptocurrency exchanges trading bitcoin and other digital currencies.

The office of General Eric Schneiderman sent a letter to Coinbase, Gemini, Bit Trust and other exchanges, requesting more facts for investors and traders in this emerging market.

The Virtual Markets Integrity initiative could bring about tighter regulation for cryptocurrency exchanges.

“With cryptocurrency on the rise, consumers in New York and across the country have a right to transparency and accountability when they invest their money,” said Attorney General Schneiderman.

"Yet too often, consumers don’t have the basic facts they need to assess the fairness, integrity, and security of these trading platforms.

“Our Virtual Markets Integrity Initiative sets out to change that, promoting the accountability and transparency in the virtual currency marketplace that investors and consumers deserve.”

Bitcoin boosted as IMF boss praises cryptocurrency

A questionnaire sent to each exchange requests information about trading policies and procedures, basic operation and fees, as well as controls to prevent money laundering and hacks.

Although the initiative is designed to protect the interests of New York residents who trade cryptocurrency with these exchanges, the international nature of the businesses means the outcome of the probe could have wide-reaching consequences.

The investigation comes just a day after International Monetary Fund (IMF) boss Christine Lagarde called for an even-handed approach to regulation in the cryptocurrency space.

Ms Lagarde explained the global benefits of bitcoin and other cryptocurrency in an official blog on the IMF's website, saying that sensible regulatory measures could help realise the potential of digital currencies and their underlying technology.

“Just as a few technologies that emerged from the dot-com era have transformed our lives, the crypto assets that survive could have a significant impact on how we save, invest and pay our bills,” Ms Lagarde wrote.

“An important initial step will be to reach a consensus within the global regulatory community on the role crypto-assets should play. Because crypto-assets know no boundaries, international cooperation will be essential.” "

40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / XFX RX 470 RS. Should I buy it in now ? on: April 13, 2018, 02:15:16 PM
Hi guys, I am getting a offer for brand new XFX RX 470 RS 4g for approx $350. Should I buy it even though Bitmain will release ethash miner. Once they are sold out I won't be able to get them at this price again. The closest I will get will be $446 for RX 570 4gb or $453 for  RX580 4gb.

I could buy 6 or 12 cards. What do you think or should I wait for Nvidia cards.
