262  Economy / Computer hardware / Pandaminer RX 470 4GB cards $40 each or 2 for $75 US shipped. on: June 29, 2019, 03:50:19 PM
Title says it all.
These are 4GB RX 470 cards out of Pandaminers.
You will need to install a fan on the heatsink. Or get a lot of air moving over the card.

The 1 HDMI port they have does work so you can use it as a basic RX 470 cards in a PC.

They do not have the PC mounting brackets or the pandaminer brackets.

I will test the card(s) again before shipping them out.

As of now I have 2.

PM me or reply here.
I prefer BTC can take LTC / ETH / BCH / XMR for this.

263  Economy / Collectibles / [Auction] Peeled Satori Chip Ends 1 PM Eastern 27-June-2019 [US ship only] on: June 25, 2019, 11:59:11 PM
So while showing the chip to someone I dropped it on the kitchen table, where it rolled off into my cats water dish.
Probably could spend the rest of my life dropping coins on the table and not have that happen again.

Anyway, since I had no idea if the paper that was under the hologram got wet and if it was any form of water resistant I peeled it and moved the BTC (and BCH / BSV) off
All other forks are there if you care.

Chip does not look like it suffered any damage.

264  Economy / Collectibles / Thinking about a raffle for a loaded 1BTC 1 oz Silver Gold-plated Lealana on: June 23, 2019, 01:41:06 PM
I was going to ask BTC.1 per spot.

So before I go and get it out of the safety deposit box are there enough of you here willing to bid that much?

Not that it mattes much but:
1) It was funded back in Nov 2014 so outside of clams it has all the forks.
2) Since it was funded before it shipped there is no "buyer funded" laser mark on the holo
3) Never been out of the airtite that is was shipped to me in.

266  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Aptito a mobile payment platform for restaurants will begin processing crypto on: June 21, 2019, 06:35:01 PM
Could be good, depends on how they do it.
The more we can use BTC the better it is. Issue is going to be do they do it smoothly or is it going to be a horrible kludge to make it work.

267  Economy / Collectibles / Cheap Collectibles (if you have time) on: June 20, 2019, 07:13:29 PM
So with some comments made in Viziques thread about some cheap collectibles.
There are a lot out there. IF:

1) You have the time to look
2) You don't care about occasionally taking a risk if you can't verify 100% what it is.

To anyone here a Ravenbit Series 2.2 Silver Node is worth a ton. Only 25 made. Really rare, could probably sell mine for well over $1000
To the guy at Coin Galleries Of OysterBay http://coingalleriesofoysterbay.com/ it's a nice 1oz silver coin thing $44.95
You just have to hit a lot of stores and sort through a lot of junk to find something like that.

Same thing with some art work. We know the Cryptograffiti print I got for $50 was a steal. To the guy I bought it from while on vacation in Vegas, it was neat but very slightly damaged print of which he had an undamaged one of. So $50 + getting totally screwed on the cost of him framing it and we're both happy. Don't know where he got it & I didn't really care.

Remember doing this long term violates the "McDonald's Theory"
For those of you who don't follow other collectibles.
If for less time then you put into looking for something, you could have gotten a part time job at McDonald's, making minimum wage, and earned enough money to buy it straight from a known source you have violated the "McDonald's Theory" of collecting.

You will always get lucky now and then, just don't think it's going to make you rich.

268  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Another FireFox vulnerability that can hit WebWallets (update 20-June) on: June 19, 2019, 01:19:15 PM
Yet again why are you using web wallets?
But, if you are using web wallets or an exchange that relies on JavaScript update your FireFox to 67.0.3 67.0.4

A bit more info here but you have to do another update.

269  Other / Meta / Do we need 1 more datapoint for trust in trades (and only trades)? on: June 15, 2019, 12:44:25 PM
I know I have said this before but it kind of got buried.

Now this forum is not eBay, it's not Amazon or anything else like that but there are a lot of people doing a lot of trades for a lot of things. We can either as a group try to help them or as a group wash our hands of it and say do your own research. But as of now it's a mess IMO and not getting better.

So quoting from my own threads and taking from some others now that we have flags:

Merit = Are they good posters? Help out people? Useful to the board? This does not matter much in terms of trading BTC or hardware or collectibles you *can* help out a lot but still be a crook.

Trust = Can you trust them with money / items / etc. However, there are a lot of people with trust that have never really bought or sold things.

Feedback = Do you really want to deal with them. Because even if the 1st 2 are good you might still want to avoid.

The problem as I said someplace else is when you click on trust you get feedback on things that may or may not make them trustworthy.

With flags it is in theory going to make it better but for now it's making it a bigger mess because anyone can tag anyone else even if you have had no dealings with them.

So what I was thinking was something that another forum had when dealing with this. It was just a good trade count + or - and it only showed up in the swap meet sections.

To leave a comment you *had to have* bought or sold something or had some kind of financial deal with the other person. NO OTHER THINGS MATTERED. This was 100% about if you sent the user DaveF money did DaveF ship what he was suppressed to in the condition it was supposed to be in, or do what he was supposed to do in the way he said he was going to do it and in the time-frame it was to be done in? If anything else happened it went as a comment in general feedback. NOT IN THE TRADE TRUST.

Or to put it as the forum owner put it.
If you send Bob $200 to tune up your bike and he came to your house and tuned up your bike then he gets positive trade trust.
If while he was there he has sex with your wife IT DOES NOT MATTER. That has nothing to do with trade trust. That is a feedback issue.

We seem to have the same issue here. I REALLY DON'T CARE if Bob is promoting scam coin X or an ICO or YoBit SPAM. If I sent Bob 1BTC and he sent me $9000 cash as agreed everything else is not important in the trade area.

Yes? No? Am I just rambling?

Only brought this up because I was looking to do a trade with someone with horrible trust here, but as near as I can tell never ripped anyone off. Didn't do it for another reason, but now they might not sell what they want to sell because of other factors that have nothing to do with handling BTC

271  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Security / Be Careful What & Where You Backup on: June 05, 2019, 06:10:40 PM
So, for those of you who use Windows and some of the free / cheap backup software that is out there. Be aware that some products are backing up your C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming folder which has your wallet.dat file in there.

I have seen 2 people that had their wallet.dat files in the cloud.

In theory all these places claim that your data is secure and nobody but you can access it.
In reality who knows.

Be aware. Be careful.

272  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / SUMCOIN: Possibly the dumbest altcoin out there. on: May 29, 2019, 03:00:11 PM
Or, do people actually fall for this stuff?
I give you sumcoin:

https://twitter.com/SumcoinIndex?lang=en

A coin that has no free wallet. You have to buy it on Google Play / iTunes
https://slicewallet.org/

You have to fill out a google form to apply to mine on their pool:
https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScjVseZCjgk21BguY50V3CT_64290C07rTQmi03ZtoZoP2pEQ/viewform

They actually threaten to sue people who mine it elsewhere or even discuss it:
https://twitter.com/SumcoinIndex/status/1116942947969200128

How do people actually fall for this?

273  Other / Meta / A long rambling post about trust on: May 24, 2019, 02:13:53 AM
So after not spending any real time in meta I have been poking around here for the last couple of weeks (even made a few posts)
This is just my view on everything going around about trust & the default trust.
[Full disclosure I only have the default set]

Anyway.... I have to ask how much it matters by itself without doing your own research.

Case in point. I am going to pick a random victim sidehack [sorry dude just need a hardware person to make this point]
Looking at his feedback. It's 100% perfect. He has been selling his amazingly excellent hardware for years now. I have bought from him, I have sold to him. If he sent a post saying send me 1BTC and I'll send you a 200th miner that runs @ 1500 Watts I would not even blink, I would just send it. THAT IS HOW MUCH I TRUST HIM.
Now.. He sends me a PM saying "Yo Dave, I took in a beautiful mint 2011 Casascius  I know you like them, I took it in trade for 1BTC I'll sell it to you for the same" I would have to think long and hard about it. Not that I don't trust him, I do 100%. But what does he know about collectibles? Is it really mint? Is it authentic or one of the forgeries that have been seen? Is it vulnerable to the defcon hack from years ago? etc. So what is feedback worth at that point? You know that YES you are going to get what you bought from him. But you don't know if it is what he says it is, because he may not know.

It works the other way also I 1000% trust krogothmanhattan. Would ship him coins & collectibles w/o getting paid 1st, would send him BTC to buy collectibles w/o worrying about escrow. Would I buy a used antminer from him. Yet again, have to think. Can he tell if there are issues with it the way sidehack can? How well can he take it apart and put it back together to clean it....no idea.

This kind of comes from years of seeing this on eBay. A really good quality seller, with 1000s of positive feedbacks selling PC parts has a few "other" items to sell. And poof you just got a "mint condition" cylinder head for a 2007 Honda VFR800 at amazing price. Except for the fact that it's warped and for a 2002. He didn't know, it's how he got it from someone he trusted and is just moving it in good faith. [This may be a real life experience I admit nothing]

So yes, the trust system is important. But, in the state it's in now you really can't rely on it without doing your own research.

Do we need to make this more obvious for newer people?

And a bit of what I said on another post.

Dave's logic behind making this feedback information more public and with more information attached to it. --> Anything we can do to help remove scammers is good. Anything we can do to make scammers lives more difficult is good. If a new person does not know and does not look to find out that's on them.  If they don't know and we do but don't tell them or make it difficult to find out, that's on us.

Counter argument --> We are not your mom. It's not our job.

So, with this long rambling post coming to an end. Is there a better way? If so what is it?

I have no idea, but I do think it needs to be discussed.

274  Economy / Collectibles / Loaded Coins Do You Care Where The Funding Comes From on: May 22, 2019, 07:07:51 PM
Pulling a bit from what I said here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5134233.msg50736781#msg50736781

And Here:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5134233.msg50705669#msg50705669

Now that this happened:
https://bestmixer.io/

Do we need to have a discussion about how people are funding coins? Or ask for at least a history of funds?
I don't know how we would do it on a P2P level, but from the larger coin makers is it worth an ask or an attempt to setup a process?

Case in point, if I was using bestmixer and used funds I mixed with them to fund a coin that I just sold to you, do you REALLY want it?
Yes, it's nice to say "whatever dude, BTC is BTC" but we know that is not true.
Something happens and you have to liquidate to fiat for some reason.
Do you really want to worry about some place be it Coinbase / Gemini / Kracken or similar asking you why you are cashing out BTC that came from a mixer that was seized by the government?

I know I don't need that in my life.

275  Economy / Goods / WTS 12 sheet bundle of Revlar Waterproof Paper Great for Paper Wallets $25 on: May 11, 2019, 12:25:11 PM
https://relyco.com/products/durable-papers/revlar-waterproof-paper/
Great for printing paper wallets since you really have to work to damage it.

FOR LASER PRINT ONLY. IF YOU USE AN INKJET YOU WILL HAVE A BLURRY MESS.

8.5" x 11" white.

I have sold some of this before and now have another small lot to sell:
1 x 12 sheet bundle $25.00 each shipped US
1 x 12 sheet bundle $50.00 each shipped anyplace else.

They are from 2 different runs from Relyco to most people they will look the same.
--> To an artist there might be some VERY VERY slight differences. <--
*I* can't tell one pile from the other but I want to be up front that there might be subtle differences.

If you have any questions, please ask.

Payment for these only to:
14omg4wFTmbQrNXtFL7f4sLfSpF6Pif4P7
OR
bc1qun6thhj2th9aac4r0057gxnrkg0lw22xa7wxzx

To answer some questions that have come up over the last few times I have sold it:
Q: Am I cheap at this price?
A: It depends, you can get 100+ count boxes of it for less per page. But for smaller amounts (like this) I am about average or even a bit cheaper.

Q: Why do you have it?
A: Contacts / paperwork that need to be kept around a while. It's kind of a side job I fell into years ago.
Tell a lawyer it's $8300 to fix his BMW they don't care.
Tell the same lawyer they have to spend $650 on a color laser printer (that they get to keep) and $85 for some really nice paper to print out a settlement that is going to            net them $125,000+ and they freak. So I do it for them. For a fee :-)

Q: Why don't you keep it all and just use it for the next print run?
A: Because the next print run might be tomorrow, or it might October 2020. I think I did 2 print runs in 2017 and 3 in 2018. It's just the nature of the business.

Q: Why is shipping out of the US so expensive?
A: Because I have to actually go to the Post Office during the work day, wait on line and pay. I can ship to the US without leaving my desk.

Q: Why is this a moderated thread?
A: Because the last few times I posted it people veered off into many discussions.

276  Other / Meta / Can you find which mod deleted a post to ask why? on: May 05, 2019, 10:50:37 PM
1st time posting a question like this so please be gentle :-)

I just got a message that a post in  I made in Bitcoin > Development & Technical Discussion > Wallet software was deleted.

The posted message was:
Code:
Many github accounts have been hacked. For now they are just ransoming the software back to the developers.
This does not mean that there are no other changes to other gits that nobody has noticed yet.

https://motherboard.vice.com/en_us/article/vb9v33/github-bitbucket-repositories-ransomware

https://www.pcmag.com/news/368158/hacker-tries-to-ransom-github-code-repositories-for-bitcoin

Double check the github repository before downloading

-Dave

I felt that it was a good heads up for people to give a 2nd look before downloading a wallet.
Was I wrong? No issue if I was, just looking for input.

Thanks,
Dave

279  Economy / Collectibles / Do we need / does anybody want a single moderated announcement thread? on: April 29, 2019, 08:08:33 PM
Title kind of says it all. Sometimes we can spend a ton of time here on the forum. Other times we can't. Because of this you can no see postings about or sales threads of new coins.
Due to life getting in the way I missed the M.O.A.B. thread and it's sale. I am reasonably sure others have had the same issue with other coins / collectibles.

So do you think a sticky thread at the top moderated by somebody (or more then 1 person) that just has a running list of new coins / collectibles and a link to the thread.
This way you can check in 1 spot and be done.

Good idea? Bad idea?
