63  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Physical Noirbits and Noirbank Update on: August 24, 2013, 07:19:42 AM
I am currently mulling the idea of making physical Noirbits, this comes as a result of the Noirbank project being formally accepted. Although they most likely will not be a widely accepted currency unless we do something BTC has failed to do, i think it's a small step in the right direction. Due to financial constraints the coins will most likely be made using semi-precious metals. I'd like to see if there is interest in them then i'll make a decision, ideas are encouraged. Would denominated coins be a good idea?

In the mean time, once i pay the registration fees and clear the legal obligations, i will make the formal announcement of Noirbank.
64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / POS on: August 22, 2013, 03:24:03 PM

65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Mining future on: August 20, 2013, 07:01:05 AM
With altcoins gaining more popularity since the advent of the ASIC, is it worthwhile to still buy g/cards like say 50 x 7950s? or would the money be better served 1) Trading alts or 2) Investing in these scrypt ASICs developers. is the chance of having an overwhelming amount of power in maybe a year worth more than having medium power now for a year, then later standing in line?

70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Today's news (IMO) August 12, 2013 on: August 12, 2013, 06:19:23 AM
Main News

iGotspots recently released Copper Bars, after a quiet release on Cryptsy chat, he decided to make it public after 24 hours of silent mining with cryptsy users that were luck to be online. With a very low block target and low reward this coin has seen a myriad of responses. Early after the public release it was revealed that the chain was suffering multiple forks, and users continued to adamantly mine their own forks.....i guess this coin is "forked". I tried to mine it, with relative success until my confirmed balance went AWOL in the wallet. I gave it up as a bad job. Some user suggested the problem to be emanating from the fact that it uses NUG code, these romours where vehemently denied.

The sha256 movement has gained more traction this week as Bountycoin was released, with an obscene premine "for BOUNTIES" it was met with much skepticism as users pointed out that it would take 3 years of non stop mining to equal the premine.

72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Today's news (IMO) August 09, 2013 on: August 09, 2013, 05:23:21 PM
Main news

Pennies appears to be gaining ground as more users dedicate their CPU's to mining it. Roumors of an efficient CGminer implementation have been floating around but with no proof.

73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Speculative Trading on: August 08, 2013, 06:43:46 AM
Yall'z done slowed down on speculative trading, google docs exchange is a thing of the past. I'd like to bring that frenzy back, ANT will be released in 12. You cannot buy in using BTC or LTC  only untraded alts are accepted, you can mine if you want but you will get more by buying in.

Main News

CPU only coins appear to be gaining ground as more and more successful releases are appearing. Jcoin has met a new contender in Pennies that was released via Live chat on cryptsy. A fork of Yacoin with indivisible units and no gpu implementation yet, it seems to be slowly gaining ground.

I had a impromptu interveiw with Bitjohn, one of the most active mods @ cryptsy and managed to squeeze some information out of him. With the recent minor flood of coins and multiple requests from a lot of users to add new and existing coins, they have been overwhelmed and have had to re-do their list. I got a clearer explanation of how the coins are chosen and he promised to clarify to the rest of the community. By being open about this, i guess i can overlook the ORB debacle (hehehe).

MAIN NEWS

Jcoin has been released and has seen many miners pointing their CPUs at it trying to eek out a few blocks while the botnet operators prepare their rape kits. Tensions were running high as people reported having different source files and in some cases it would not compile. Meanwhile others reported getting many blocks so the question remains, was this coin for windows users only? Is this the advent of a Windows coin community vs Linux users?

BTT user Giskard has released the first sha256 coin in a while and it seems to have gotten more response than expected. But again as expected Asics joined the party and it became an orphan competition. Although good for laughs the idea itself was doomed in the making.

Memory Coin has been released in beta claiming Memory intensive algo. Released by FreeTrade it has been given skeptisism as miner are wary of the “chain reset” line included. After compiling the source, i got BITCOIN-QT…. which then began messing with my bitcoin data and the client dispalayed my BTC addy…was this the intended effect?

The UNOCS firefall continues as disgruntled users take them to the washers. Bitsinmyhead recently posted a point by point referenced and detailed expose, Unocs fanatics are not happy.

FINANCIAL NEWS

The downward spiral has died down as traders rallied together to pump a few coins back into proitability. This follows a week of lowered profits for miners and traders.

Miners are waiting with bated breath to see what Cryptsy does next. After the ORB incident the mods have been subdued and seem to be licking their wounds. Last I saw, the ORB annuncement was on page 3, and we all know people dont usually check page 3.

TRENDING

With this continued streak of botched launches, there has been discussion of launching a clone of XPM or QRK with different parameters. The unoriginality of these ideas is staggering but we all know the the coin /cough/ scam will get all the support it needs if the right amounts are paid.
79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Campaign on: August 02, 2013, 06:10:35 PM
I'd like to start a campaign against new launches for just the next 4 days. To that effect i have pm'ed the guys i know who have coin breaking hash power and asked them to kill anything they see if possible. I believe it's time people started putting thought into what they do, and if we cant do it via cooperation.... you will still cooperate. There is nothing wrong with copy paste if it backed, but most are now just premining and abandoning the coin, leaving lots of users stranded.

Main News

I thought i was hallucinating this morning. In a shocking and unexpected move.....cryptsy added ORB. What on earth is going on?

A 66% premined Shitclone barely 3 days old got added to exchange  Roll Eyes
We've all been witnessing some new good launches of late eg Spots and HBN, the successful revival of GME made quite a hub bub too.
Yet in the face of all that success....ORB, what a joke.

In other news the community seems to be refining it's mining choices as the recent spat of failed launches has left people sunbathing with their bags of useless coins.

Business News

Not much here today except more dumping, we are however waiting to see what cryptsy does next  Tongue

Sports News

We expect a large amount of releases this week, including a few scam revivals. So watch the new coins battle it out.

ORB was disqualified from the League after the community reviewed it's terms and conditions.  The shitdev has gone back to the drawing board.

Weather News

You guessed it folks!!! Major shitclone storm incoming, in honor of failcoin #1 we dub it, Hurricane ORB.

Midday Update

PXC dump underway as the devs just changed the game, major holders are already leaking coins as news of the client update that is changing mining parameters  spreads.
