1  Other / Meta / Re: Your role in the industry - poll for BCT members on: March 16, 2021, 12:10:41 AM
I'm halfway from being a regular but I am not a newcomer at the same time. I am holding cryptocurrencies but it is just limited popular coins like BTC and ETH.

I am not regular here but I do read sometime when I have free time to keep myself updated.
2  Other / Meta / Re: Get Donator status by donating 10 BTC on: March 03, 2021, 01:21:28 PM
I think it is fine not to change this at all.

We all know that it is so expensive to be a VIP here but that would be that member's decision and not ours.

If they can afford it, then they are a VIP. I think the VIP members are also thinking that 10 BTC in the past is just expensive as it is now. Spending 10 BTC for the said advantages or privileges is for them to decide.

Theymos has said he won't lower the price of those ranks and I think they should left be as they are, however, I've long been a proponent of adding more titles such as Silver and Gold Memberships that come with the benefits of higher ranks like Full and Hero Member etc. There are multiple benefits to having them in my opinion such as curbing account farming and lessening the market for accounts as people would just buy the title rather than risk buying a dodgy account on the black market. Most people probably struggle to get a high amount of merit these days and the number of people signing up to the forum that will achieve a high rank will probably be very low and will usually only happen to exceptional users so I think paying to skip the queue would be useful in these situations. The higher tier one could maybe allow you to charge your name once as I know that's often something people want. There's plenty of other benefits that could be included as well.

I'll agree with the new titles though, but I think I will stay with not changing the price.

I am saying this considering the value of 10 Bitcoins which will be weighed against the privileges here in the forum.

I am not rich but for sure I will go with keeping that 10 Bitcoins. I should not say that 10 Bitcoins should weigh heavier than the privileges here in the forum since I am not that active here but considering the value those multimillionaires could only afford, well I think they are the only ones that could have that titles.

If we will be talking about privileges, why not just have a thread for those people that should have those privileges like the Reputation or the Meta section. If they can't afford it, maybe the members here could talk about it and have those privileges that could help the forum. Obviously, it will not be the same as the privileges of having a Donator Status, just that kind of status that would help the forum. AFAIK, this had been talked about in the Meta section.

no. i remember almost donating back in the day (~2012) and fiat wise it was WAY less costly. several thousand dollars USD vs what like 500 grand now

Wow! I think that is just amazing seeing the price that we have right now and thinking to yourself that this is what you've been waiting for a long time.

I would just like to say, Congratulations!

Maybe is it time for the price of Donator and VIP ranks to reduce? I know this has been discussed before but then again the price at that time was nowhere close to what it is now.

Please if not that, new rank roles??? Let's discuss!

I think it is fine not to change this at all.

We all know that it is so expensive to be a VIP here but that would be that member's decision and not ours.

4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin anonymous? on: March 03, 2021, 05:58:25 AM
We should be more concerned about to what level or extent is bitcoin anonymous ?

We don't need to be concerned about that level, we just need to know how anonymous is it.

It is on us how we will be taking that knowledge and use it. What will you be doing knowing that Bitcoin is pseudo-anonymous?

Are you planning to do a crime? Are you hiding from the law? Pseudo-anonymous or not, it is all on you on how you will be using that feature. You should know that all of the transactions happening are so clear on the blockchain.
5  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Title: Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas at ang Cryptocurrency on: March 03, 2021, 12:50:25 AM
In summary:

  • Diokno: "cryptocurrencies are not really currencies, as they are more appropriately referred to as virtual assets"
  • Non-verbatim:"Wow angdaming nag eexchange ng crypto sa exchanges, prepare for more taxes!"

O ang mga tao ay naghahanap lang ng efficient or safe ways, considering that we are still have the pandemic, to transact their money using these mobile apps or exchanges?

7  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What does Regulation really means? on: February 20, 2020, 10:02:57 PM
Thank you for your replies. I really appreciate it, to be honest I already sent some of your statements to the guy who asked me about it. He told me that I shouldn't bother but I feel responsible for what happened.
8  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / What does Regulation really means? on: February 19, 2020, 11:06:25 PM
Been a long time and someone asked me about this, I don't know what to say. I cashed out my money in a remittance center and if we are doing that, we are just putting the name of the exchange in the name of the one who sent it. The guy is confused with that since I think he is a newbie on that job, I am cashing some of my BTCs there in the past and I am not asked why I am putting there a company's name. The guard knew me so he's smiled at me, and I just did that too.

So I explained how I cash out my money in this exchange and he understood that since he is also freelancing in the past and he's also being paid online but he's not cashing it out as I do. So we continued the conversation to the point that we are talking about cryptocurrencies. And he asked me about regulations if it's legal in our country and I said yes then he asked me if these regulations protect the people who are using it, I don't know what to say.

I just explained what regulation does but I did not answer his question. As scams and hacking are common on the internet, cryptocurrencies are not new to that and they are decentralized so the government doesn't really know how would they be able to know the users and track transactions that happened.

So if a cryptocurrency is regulated in a country, does that protect the citizens that are using it? or they just allow the usage of it in the country? I will lock this after I got a satisfying answer. Thank you.

10  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why the Cryptocurrency Market Is Falling on: May 28, 2018, 04:04:08 PM
The market is completely dependent on supply and demand. When there is a very high demand, then the price grows and when there is no demand, the price falls.

To be exact it started when Google announces that they will be stopping the acceptance of the advertisements of crypto currencies, the same as Facebook did. A lot of FUDs started and the price of Bitcoin and a lot of digital currencies dumps.
11  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do people get their bitcoins? on: May 28, 2018, 02:40:56 PM
I think they work with as servants or serve, they work and then they will be rewarded in the form of coins and coins that can be exchanged with bitcoin.

Servants? I don't think so. They do works, they follow rules and do the things they should do to earn currencies or Bitcoin that they can exchange into money or fiat after time. Serving is more of a thing you do if you are in a government, if you are following a higher up but in these way, there is no higher up since we do what we want to do. That is how decentralized do things.
12  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you approve this strategy: sell alts buy btc? on: May 28, 2018, 10:36:30 AM
I read this article, but I want to see opinions, would you sell all your alts to have only bitcoin now ? I don't think this is recommended

https://cointelegraph.com/news/buy-bitcoin-sell-your-altcoins-says-pioneering-wall-street-blockchain-analyst
For me it depends upon the situation. If the price of alts hits in the market then I will sell my alts and buy bitcoins and save and hold. If the alts I have has high potential in the market I will still hold it and wait for the right time to sell.

In my opinion, what you are saying is the same since if your alts hit in the market, you will be selling them but that also means that you bought it or maybe invested in it right? If that is the case why not just buy Bitcoin directly if that is what you are doing because in your case there will be a time that your alt will also go down and you will lose your investment or profit by buying it.
13  Economy / Economics / Re: So many cryptocurrencies ! on: May 28, 2018, 07:01:27 AM
Every crypto currencies has their own roadmaps and I think it is their responsibilites, developers, to take the road that in their mind, will make their crypto  successful. If their crypto currencies did not survive the cruel competition with a lot of other opponents then I think that is the fault of the developers and we don't need to think about it since we are just basing our investments on their future plans and strategies.
14  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do people get their bitcoins? on: May 28, 2018, 03:09:27 AM
There are several ways to obtain bitcoin. the easiest way is to mine it using mining equipment, but you need some money.
the other way is to trade it. Buy when low, sell higher and repeat this to obtain more coins.

Mining is not really the easiest way to earn Bitcoin. There are a lot of faucets in the internet and you just need to choose one of them, well it is not the most suggested way of earning them but we are talking about the easiest way which is faucet. In terms of people earning Bitcoin in these forum, Signature Campaigns are the most popular.
15  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What do you mean when you say Bitcoin is number 1 on: May 27, 2018, 02:47:58 PM
As a pioneer in this field, bitcoin has the advantage of first-mover advantage. I think it's just the first brand of encryption, and that's why it's a market leader. In my heart bitcoin is always the first. Smiley

A "pioneer"? Wow, that is a big word. You are a pioneer with a low rank account, then I can safely assume that you have a lot of friends here now. That is great for a "pioneer" at this field. Bitcoin is number one because it is the first one, that is all to it.
16  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Learning Cryptocurrency in Universities? on: May 27, 2018, 10:44:02 AM
I think universities should start with block chain! Then there's a course on cryptocurrency!

In the future, blockchain will be applied to all walks of life, and talents of blockchain will be sought after by many companies!

Studying the Block chain is a great thing to start at a school. I don't want Bitcoin or other digital currencies to teach in schools since a lot of people learned these currencies online without a teacher and the only thing that is very confusing to people is the Blockchain and in that sense, people might be able to find problems and features they can develop that can help Bitcoin and other digital currencies.
17  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin have more risks than benefits? on: May 27, 2018, 03:29:18 AM
I think it's very normal because bitcoin is the only digital currency on the internet, if it is related to the internet must have a very high risk, you should be able to face the risks that exist.

Bitcoin is the only digital currency on the internet? Wow, that is something that you can read and see everyday here in the forum. There is a lot more of digital currency on the internet and I think you must look at out of the box.
18  Economy / Economics / Re: What language should I learn next? on: May 26, 2018, 12:38:05 PM
English is a must since it is said to be the most used language in the world and but since it is not a problem for me, Spanish is the next language since these language are taught in a lot of schools the same as English Subject. Japanese and Chinese is a great option but I choose Spanish.
19  Economy / Economics / Re: Future of Cryptocurrency on: May 26, 2018, 12:11:23 PM
I do not believe such an end will happen. Whatever it is, I think that Bitcoin will always be at the top, after all, all the cryptocurrency industry is the head caster Bitcoin. Bitcoin has the same relative and gentleness in the cryptocurrency world as USD we use in our normal life. For that reason I believe that whatever it is, it will not happen and that Bitcoin will always be at the top.

Yeah, I also believe in bitcoin. It exists much longer than other cryptocurrencies. And while some of them sunk into oblivion, this crypto is still afloat.

That is because a lot of people and investors are using Bitcoin. Without the support of users and investors, there is no way that a certain currency can last long and since Bitcoin has a lot of users and investors you can expect that it will be circulating in the world for a long period of time.
20  Economy / Economics / Re: Investment in Bitcoin vs Investment in Education? on: May 26, 2018, 09:45:55 AM
Investment in education should be given priority because due to education many good things happen just  take an example of bitcoin and blockchain technology. Education makes us a better human being. On the other hand investment in bitcoin is risky because of its high volatility.

This depends on the individual since every types of people has their own sets of skill. There are a lot of people who are great at school but not that great on the real application while there are the reverse of it the reason they stop going to school.
