If i had a way to spam facebook users like Adam did i would defintely do it instead of paying FACEBOOK 100% of the advertising right into their pockets. I chose the spaming way lol fuck this shit, no1 died while he did it and it did not cost a single cent to anyone not even facebook they just got mad because someone managed to bypass their system.

If you had to spam FB back in those days to make money, you suck as a marketer. Legit ads were like shooting fish in a barrel.

The last time I visited this thread it was the XCurrency army trolling it. If those misguided individuals had saved their energy and bought a few DRK, they would be much further ahead.

I'm betting the current crop will look back with similar regret in 6 months.

Have you done proper legal due diligence? Does any of this violate the TOS of the services you intend to advertise on? How about FTC endorsement guidelines?
4  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why the Bitcoin community should support BurtW. on: April 07, 2015, 07:53:51 AM
Ask yourself.  If the government believed you needed a business license, should the government send you a letter advising you to get a license? Or, should the government storm your house, throw you in solitary confinement, bankrupt your family, take all of your electronics and Bitcoins and cash, ruin your thirty year old business and cause financial loss to three Colorado companies?

This is the issue right here. In a sane society, with a government of the people and by the people, this would not be allowed to happen. But with so many government agencies on a war footing, these types of actions are happening across the nation for offenses that once would have entailed a certified letter or a knock on the door.

The government is now in the business of seizing the assets of its citizens using any means necessary, and due process is in many ways, an anachronism. Civil asset forfeiture isn't all that different from the bills of attainder used by the British to seize assets during the Revolutionary war.

How about that 7k DRK sell on Cryptsy just now?
+ the 10k dump on bitfinex = ~17k

i'm glad otoh got part of his order filled and that the drk have been transferred out of  weak hands.

Someone read "fork" and panicked I suppose. C'est la vie.

This has been the most crazy day in Darkcoin ever!

Leak of possible merger of DRK & SDC. Discussed. Annulled
Fox 26 News
Bloomberg
Rumor of OKCoin.com adding drk
Evan doing 1st InstantX transaction successfully

Its been fun

Thank goodness for Bitcoin Checker price alerts or I might have missed all of that fun. I'd almost forgotten how great this stuff could be during the good times.

It's also nice to see the Metcalf & Company reptiles get their comeuppance. Good riddance to XC, Blocknet, and the rest of their digital junk.

The price is low I would imagine simply because Bitcoin is on a downtrend. When Bitcoin sneezes so does every other coin. We're going down, that's as clear as day, but we won't go up unless Bitcoin turns around properly and people then feel faith in crypto in general.

Agreed. The uncertainty around BTC is having a huge effect on alts as usual. Any trader worth his salt has had to consider divesting alts with such weakness around BTC. Cash is the place to be right now for many of the traders I chat with.

Add to that the huge risks around working with exchanges, the (misplaced, IMO) hype around sidechains supplanting alts, and the not insignificant hurdles facing DRK development and adoption, and it's no wonder we're going down.

All of that said, there's huge opportunity for those with patience and resolve in markets like these. DRK has a lot going for it, and I'm betting on significant appreciation when / if the BTC market finds its footing and rallies. Don't bet the farm, because that's exactly what this is... a (minimally informed) bet.

Well said sir.  I certainly have no crystal ball.  I still believe there is room for several coins at the top.  I'll use a very simple analogy, take wine...something I know well.  It would be simple to just make "A WINE" and not dozen or so different wines.  And like BTC to DRK...there are wines that people drink everyday...and those that people collect and even use as a store of value.  What I'm getting at...is even thought its good to make your opinions know...in the end they are just opinions.  I for one wouldn't bet the farm on either out come.  All I know is I like the fundamentals of Darkcoin...and its potential Utility.  There are hundreds of currency in the world....choice is a good thing.

Am I correct in recalling that you own a winery in Canada? Feel free to pm me the name / location... I do enjoy my vino. Smiley

i just took a look at btc volume and saw that bitfinex has more than btc-e or bitstamp. It would be great to stimulate some drk volume on that exchange, there is a lot of btc flowing around there!! do you have to give your id when using bitfinex, like at bitstamp? or is it like btc-e? Im gonna make an account, but have noooo money to do anything there ;(

No, no identification unless you want to deposit / withdraw fiat funds.

After predicting the DRK price implosion just weeks ago (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg8073765#msg8073765), I have another prediction to make. I take no pleasure in saying this but I hope that those who didn't take my advice before will listen this time and save themselves some money. DRK will never again approach its previous price. The reason is that it does not provide an attractive practical solution for those who seek anonymity (relative to BTC used in conjunction with mixers). Even if it does function perfectly on a technical level, the fact remains that moving BTC into DRK generally requires dealing with an exchange that will be forced to compromise privacy as the result of increased regulations. And once you have your DRK, where are you going to spend it? There is no DRK ecosystem to speak of. BTC has hundreds of millions being invested into an infrastructure to stimulate mass adoption. If you truly wanted to be anonymous, wouldn't you want to be lost in the crowd along with regular consumers as opposed to being potentially linked to a currency inadvertently branded as the go-to solution for drug dealers, paedophiles, and tax-dodgers? In front of a jury, what's more incriminating: evidence that you had a BTC wallet on your computer like everybody else including your aunt Bertha...or that you had a sinisterly-named DarkCoin Wallet on there? I would short DRK if I knew how but I have zero skin in the game. Save yourself some serious grief and at the very least don't dump more of your hard-earned money into this.

Your concerns are certainly not without merit. I won't address your price prediction as illiquid crypto markets don't operate on LT outlook, but on short term hype and despair cycles almost solely controlled by large holders.

As to the rest of your remarks, I can only caution that none of us can be certain how all of this will turn out. Your post is very similar to those made about bitcoin itself only a year ago, and those criticisms still apply for the vast majority of people outside the BTC bubble.

With regard to converting between coins, I expect functional decentralized exchanges to minimize the need to rely on regulated, centralized entities. There are more than a few already close to offering real world utility.

Everything going on now is experimental and speculative, and to be sure, most projects will completely fail. This game certainly isn’t for the faint of heart, and no one should bet the farm on any one outcome, but there continues to be an incredible amount of money to be made while all of this plays out. I personally believe DRK still has a role to play, but to each his own.

What is needed imo is a bullet proof UI/UX design that makes it impossible to not understand what's going on or make anything that might interfere the initial anonymizing process. When that is done, PR machine can start recruiting new blood, not before.

Amen! I'm now anonymizing another 10k coins and I'm thrilled that the tech is working, even for large(ish) balances. That said, the UI isn't ready for prime time, and it really should be bulletproof before risk averse, normal users are invited to take it for a spin.

Wow, eventful weekend huh?

I've been away for a couple days, but I'm happy to report that my test wallet with 5k coins has fully anonymized. I'm going to transfer another 10k to the wallet now to see how it handles that. I'm very confident that DS+ works as intended.

And if it is, how exactly do I get rid of that message?

Yikes, I could tell you exactly on Linux or Mac but I haven't used Windows in some time. If I recall, you would just edit the shortcut you use to run QT by appending the salvagewallet option. Something like: \DarkCoin-Qt.exe -salvagewallet

+1 it can take a while do that many rounds. 1 blocks at least for each, and each is sent out, mixed and 6 confirmations needed back. And it doesnt do your hole balance in one shot. It goes by denominating compatibility.

So anyone trying to denominate 7k through 8 rounds will hopefully not be in too much of a hurry. There is hardly anyone out there to share entries. But as soon as people start ugrading things should be much swifter,

Yes, this may indeed be part of the issue camo is experiencing. I transferred 3k DRK to my test wallet quite some time ago and I'm still "waiting for entries," whereas when I was testing with 100 DRK things were surprisingly fast.
15  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | DarkSend+ Is Live! on: August 16, 2014, 07:38:25 AM

Yeah so it costs 1 DRK to get 10k coins with arguably overkill (8 rounds) anonymity. This is expensive??!?  Roll Eyes

For smaller amounts it may be a bit high, but if you only have 5 DRK then just use less rounds. Lowering fees has already shown not to work on mainnet.  Plus the same miners that DRK supposedly hates get these fees...

Well, as you say it's not expensive for large amounts, but for someone who wants to anonymize $50-$100, the fee can be as high as 1%, assuming 8 rounds and a DRK price of $5. I have no idea how much more anonymity is gained with 8 rounds versus 2, but I foresee most users opting for the highest number of rounds.

Anyway, I assume these are things that can be adjusted depending on market conditions. Regardless of the fees, I'm extremely pleased that the core tech is working for me.

I'm still having issues with my wallet, and the 20 DRK stuck as "Unconfirmed"

The balance prior to RC4 was 42.72489229

That top transaction is also out of order. Prior to updating to .31 it was 3rd.

This seems like an older bug that Evan addressed here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg8353277#msg8353277

Have you done this procedure on your wallet?

Quote
If you have a long standing unconfirmed transaction, simply right click the transaction, copy the txid. Then execute the command "erasetransaction txid" in the console. After that reopen the client with the command -salvagewallet, and the money should be back.

If not, I think that will fix you right up.

It cost me 0.125 as well for a total  of 0.356 drk to denominate a measly 17.999 DRK.  Kind of expensive don't you think.  And if denom is supposed to be .001 then why is it .0125 for some users?  Another bug?  Here's a screenshot.  And no it's not photoshopped.

It is definitely charging .0125 per denomination round or .1 DRK for 8 rounds. Your math above seems off, but I agree that .0125 per round is too expensive, especially when anonymizing smaller amounts.

What do i see now, only a marketcap of $3M anymore, so was it FUD or just be able to read the market Wink Wink Wink

If that's reading the market, you need new eyeglasses. Wink Wink Wink

I think it's because everyone who is having no problems has less than 900DRK in their wallet.

That could be. I've been testing with 100DRK moving between wallets.

I'll transfer a few thousand from the stable wallet and see what happens.
20  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | DarkSend+ Is Live! on: August 16, 2014, 06:08:58 AM
It just keeps NOT doing 8 rounds, doing 1 instead, then starting over and charing me fees again... Eventually, the wallet will be empty from fees.

This is exactly what was happening to me prior to .31 - I had recurring fees with seemingly no actual denominating happening past 1 round. It seems you are still somehow affected by this bug.

Once I updated to .31, coin control showed that those rounds I paid for were actually successful, so I don't believe those fees are going into the ether.
