361  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL announces 28nm 600GH/S blade for $4680 on: August 19, 2013, 04:38:42 AM
Still waiting for my Jalepenos...

600 Gh/s on a PCI-e card? Maybe by November of 2017 ...

362  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: {BFL} Why The Monarch Might Just Work on: August 19, 2013, 04:33:23 AM
How can anybody possibly be insane enough to pre-order stuff when they still have not shipped stuff pre-ordered last year??

No more preorders !

P.S. I still have not received my Jalepenos.

Go ahead and piss your money away. You are free to do so.
363  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: If they don't have Stocks Available " Please Don't Buy " "No More Pre Orders" on: August 17, 2013, 02:52:27 PM
It it doesn't hash already, with a screenshot posted, I ain't buyin'

Frigging ridiculous. Still waiting for my BFL order, and now the whole Avalon chip fiasco.

364  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: August 17, 2013, 02:50:26 PM
I think we should use the time extra time that we now have productively.

Maybe a fully functioning K16 could be assembled (with sample chips), by either Steamboat, or BkkCoins (or somebody else), and be used to make sure CG miner works with it just fine.

Maybe explore some overclocking options on it, do some benchmarks, that sort of thing, and post them, so that people know what to expect.

Hopefully, that will get everything running smoothly once the chips DO get here.

Get rid of all the negativity...man...it's like walking into a total bitchfest on these forums lately.
365  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: August 16, 2013, 02:02:10 AM
Hi BkkCoins,

I've got a full up K16 ready to test, but don't have the firmware (don't have a paid version of the compiler and already used up the demo).

Could I please trouble you for a compiled hex file (if that's allowed) that I can pump into the unit to test.  I didn't see one in the repo.  I do have MPLAB and an ICD3.

I've applied power to the board and no problems there.

Cool project!  I'm super stoked to get it running.

See pic @ http://placedroid.com/blogs/news/8625479-place-droid-assembles-first-of-many-klondike-k16-bitcoin-mining-engines

Thank-you !!!

EDIT: Also just realized I may need a Windows binary of the modded cgminer.  Can someone post one ?  I don't have a linux box atm and will spin for days trying to get this stuff compiled.  I'm rusty.  Thx!!

There should be a hex file in github but it's probably just compiled for whatever I was testing last - which would be 1 bank of 4 chips. I haven't updated it recently. I should do a few edits for 16 chips and compile and post a new version. I'm probably going to be running out of my own trial also. I don't recall the date now. On github the hex file resides in the /firmware/Klondike.X/dist/K16/production directory. I'll look this evening at doing a default 16 chip hex file and pushing it to github. I really do need to get some time in on the firmware now.

I don't have Windows here at all so can't immediately help with that. Hopefully there's someone out there who has compiled it for Windows.

Hi everybody,

I have compiled the cgminer-klondike version (pulled from bkk github) following the windows-build.txt file. Itīs working in my desktop PC hashing with my GPU because I donīt have any USB hardware to test (Iīm be waiting my K16 boards from Steamboat). I installed too in my laptop and itīs working without hashing (not a good GPU on it) only looking at the pool (BTC Guild).

I gues it may be useless to share the cgminer binaries, because it must be compiled in each PC (with all the dependencies, MinGW, etc). Am I wrong?

Roybitcoin

Interesting stuff. 2 questions.

1) What package/program did you use to compile it and what settings did you use?

2) If it's a standard windows executable, why would it need to be specifically compiled for each machine?

366  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: A plea to Yifu on: August 15, 2013, 02:43:58 AM
It's pretty obvious what happened.

Avalon does not want or does not think it needs to hire a customer service expert to deal with refunds/questions/exchanges.

They underestimated what it would take to ship Batch 1, 2 AND 3.

They underestimated how long the batches would take to build AND ship.

They underestimated their business security needs. This story kept popped up again in June at the Bitcoin conference, and it popped up again recently with the alleged "delay" of the chips.

They underestimated the bureaucratic necessities of shipping a large quantity of goods, dealing with customs in multiple locations.

It's pretty clear now, with all due respect to Avalon, that they seriously underestimated what it would actually take to RUN a company in the modern world, even though they are smart guys.

You guys really need to get a savvy, knowledgeable, worldly business manager AND a security consultant who knows WTF he's doing. You need professional business help, seriously speaking.

So far, the only thing you've done is make a great product. There are lots of companies that have done that, and FAILED MISERABLY. Get some professional help, please.

Being a nOOb is all nice and fun and enjoyable, until being a nOOb gets in the way of what it is that you're trying to accomplish. This isn't an MMO at level 3 anymore.

367  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon ASIC users thread on: August 08, 2013, 02:20:20 AM
It's only a power distribution board with melted connectors.

If somebody can post a good pic that shows all the traces, you should be able to test every single trace with a continuity tester.

Mark which one does not test good.

Then take it to a component level repair place and have them fix the traces. It won't be cheap, and it will take time, but it can be done. Resolder connectors on there, replace all capacitors, and you should be good to go.

If there is an actual chip on there that needs to be replaced, you might be screwed totally.

368  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: WTF Avalon? Ship the Chips! on: August 08, 2013, 02:04:32 AM

What "contract"?  Under who's jurisdiction?  What was your "valuable consideration" for this "contract" and can you prove you "paid it" and the "entity" you made this "contract" with "received it"?

Try trolling harder,
meanwhile no chips no response

Maybe someone with forum trust and reputation will start a GROUP BUY for the Chinese/USA LAWYERS and form a lawsuit?
I can do it but I live in Europe so no real point for me to do that.

Good point, but I think if people on this forums had the will and balls to do it they would have already done it to BFL

Precisely. If people have not organized and sued BFL yet, since they are still working on singles from July and August 2012, a year late, do you REALLY think anybody is going to shell out the money to get a lawyer on retainer for a chip shipment that's maybe a month late? maybe two?? Get real.

And even if somebody did, by the time they got an initial hearing would be 6 months from now, if you're lucky. What you gonna say to the judge if the chips ship in 1-3 months? You'd look like a FOOL, and then you'd be required to prove that you had REAL damages.

Judge: Explain how the defendant has caused you monetary loss, Mr. Plaintiff.

Plaintiff:
Well, your honor, the rise in difficulty has made it harder to mine bitcoin, and the plaintiff has not shipped the chips in a timely manner.

Judge:
What is bitcoin and how has the defendant caused you monetary damages?

At that point, you will have about 3 minutes to explain bitcoin, the rise in difficulty, how bitcoin are valuable in real currency, and why a judge with 600+ cases on his docket should award you monetary compensation.

Good luck with that.
369  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BF Labs Inc. WILL process ALL backlogs by September 30, 2013! on: August 04, 2013, 07:55:00 PM
If I actually see my pre-order on my doorstep, I will belive it.

Until then......bhahahahahaahahaha !

Yea....riiiiight. And, Santa Clause will come on December 25th too....

Oh, ok, let's see who delivers my order first, BFL or Avalon chips shipped...that will be an interesting one...

I'm so friggin screwed it's not even funny...

Is there a precompiled cgminer binary to run K16 for linux?

I have no idea how to compile the stuff on github.

I just installed Linux Mint and got regular cgminer-no gpu to work (without compiling)...so I can do that. The gpu one doesn't work but I'm not really planning on doing anymore gpu mining.

Just installing drivers on linux is a huge pain in the butt, I have no idea what I'm doing.

371  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Google Spreadsheet with wolfram exponential fit 2013/2014 estimates (lead time) on: August 04, 2013, 02:06:59 PM
It's now August 4th, and difficulty is 36.7 million.

Looks like you're pretty much spot on.

Good job. Hard to argue with good math.

372  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL is Assembling 400 (not 300) Units a Day! on: July 30, 2013, 05:22:06 PM

I went over to the Mexican restaurant and they had jalepenos, along with some cilantro and onions.

Ordered a burrito. It was good, but it still did not satisfy my craving for my hashing jalepenos.

Went home, and I had to go brush my teeth before the little woman would kiss me.

The good thing about BFL Jalepenos is that, in theory, they aren't supposed to give you bad breath.

But, I would not know about that, since I have not gotten mine yet.
373  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / cgminer segmentation fault -LinuxMint on: July 28, 2013, 08:52:44 PM
I just installed Linux Mint 14, which is based on ubuntu12 (I think).

Anyway, I installed the AMD sdk2.6.

ran amdinfo, says it sees a 7900 series card (mine is a 7950)

Downloaded cgminer 3.3.1 and tried to run it, but it says segmentation fault....not really sure what that is.

When I try to run cgminerno-gpu, it seems to start up fine, asks me to enter the url for the mining pool server etc.

read up on segmentation fault being some kind of pointer error, but, i have no idea how to fix it.

Do I need to install the actual AMD drivers for my card? Could that be it?

Thanks in advance. I'm a Linux nOOb.

374  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike K16 with TL-WR703N as host - questions and links on: July 28, 2013, 04:30:28 AM
Is there an actual CGminer (or other mining program), that will allow use of K16 on Raspberri pi?

Or windows?

I have no idea how I'm actually going to mine with my K16 once it arrives...lol...

376  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Scammer - sublime5447 and Bitcoin Friends Facebook group on: July 27, 2013, 12:21:28 AM
I've never had a problem with Bitcoin Friends.

I've bought well over 15 BTC with them, and only one time there was a slight snag, but it was cleared up within the hour.

The snag was exactly what you experienced, a money pak that did not work.

It turned out that one of their reloadable cards ran into its limit, so the moneypak would not load. It was then loaded onto another card and everything was fine. Got my BTC minutes after that.

If you have a receipt, you can get your money back from moneypak. Might take a bit of time, but it is an entirely solvable problem.

If you got the moneypak number from somebody else, you are completely out of luck.

According to the batch order, 3000 sets of components will be pretty much good until batch 4 or 5. I am sure Steamboat has demonstrated to everybody here that he can plan quite well, MUCH better than Avalon. So, it is quite unlikely that Batch 5 or 6 will be here before Steamboat has new components on hand to make more miners.

Avalon is running 2-3 weeks behind schedule. I doubt anybody is surprised by that. Steamboat is running 10-12 weeks AHEAD of schedule with parts ordering. I'm sure that's NOT cheap, by the way. Let's give some credit where credit is due.

Batch 1: Order #10177, Purchase date May 1,2013. Expected delivery date early July
Batch 2: Order #10265, Purchase date May 11,2013. Expected delivery date mid July
Batch 3: Order #10325, Purchase date May 22,2013. Expected delivery date mid/late July.
Batch 4: Order #10425, Purchase date May 28,2013. Expected delivery date late July, early August.
Batch 5: Order #10553, Purchase date June 5. Expected delivery date early/mid August.
Batch 6: Order #11253, Purchase date July 6. Expected delivery date mid September.

Is there an already compiled executable version of c g miner that we can use for k16 boards?

I have no idea how to compile stuff on Windows...

I'm interested in this as I ordered a few extra Avalon chips in case some of mine were bad, just in case, thru Steamboat.

Once I get the leftover chips, I will be sending them to you to make into K1's, just for fun.

I will have up to 8, assuming none of my other chips are defective.

Thanks !

Now for the million dollar question: Any updates from Avalon on your end Steamboat? Tracking number/shipment notifications for any of the batches?

Not as of yet. The moment we receive word from Avalon we will pass it on.

Chips apparently ordered on or about April 15th, 2013 have allegedly started shipping to ...I'm guessing Chinese customers...from the looks of it.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=258231.0

Steamboat Batch 1 was ordered May 1st, if my memory serves. Hopefully, only a couple of weeks out, maybe even earlier for a tracking number e-mail. Knock on wood.

Steamboat may have another few days to NOT go crazy...or is it too late for that?   Grin Grin Grin
