221  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: November 08, 2013, 10:23:28 PM
Is anybody running K16's using USB hubs?

For some reason, mine will only be recognized when plugged directly into the computer, but not when plugged into my Anker hub, which works fine for block erupters. Weird...

Thanks.
222  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: November 08, 2013, 02:06:37 AM
I'm not a windows user anymore but it looks like you need to install the winusb driver, I'd mine from linux personally since its more secure and has better uptime stability

Found it and it's running well now.
~4.5 Gh/s average (over 5 minutes) @ 300MHz. Will be tweaking it later tonight.

What is this winusb driver that will actually run the K16 ? Is there a link for it? I wasn't aware that the K16 would run on windows...

Thank you in advance.
223  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon auctioning their 55nm chips on: November 07, 2013, 11:43:56 PM

The Klondike has been finalized and is hashing. So, if the chips are pin compatible and package compatible, it should just take some minor tweaking to make it go.

However, considering that Avalon delays almost killed the Klondike to begin with, I doubt anybody in their right mind would trust Avalon...unless some real financial incentive was on the table, i.e. some chip discounts.

my understanding is that:
1) the klondike used hard-to-find/expensive components
2) the avalon gen2 chips may be the same size, but have a different pinout that likely requires a slightly re-traced PCB.

I dont have PCB experience, but have quality fab options available if there is a good simple design

With all due respect, I think you are demanding quite a lot from an open source design that was essentially done for free, with no corporate/funding support.

I'm sure we can find plenty of stuff to criticize about just about every design out there, from BFL, to KnC, to ASICminer, and just about everything else. Nothing is 100% optimal.

I would love to see a Klondike 2.0. Mine are happily hashing away as we speak.

Just keep hashing ! Be happy !

They aren't even worth a steamy pile of shit.  Angry

They are almost half a year late. Angry

They didn't come with a fucking BFL mug. Angry

Time to test the greater fool theory with eBay.

I guess you got lucky.

Mine still are not here, and I'm way beyond the 45 day Paypal deadline.

I'm shocked, SHOCKED, that would be the case.

If I get the units shipped in their current state, that means
1.  No chaining units. I2C not working.  So, can I use a USB hub and just plug every unit in via usb and that works fine?

2.  No bootloader.   So that means that I cannot easily download new firmware, I have to use a special pickit controller?  So, say a firmware with a bootloader got created, I would have to solder a header onto the board for a PICkit controller, then use the controller to download the firmware to each board?

I'm fact checking here.  Anyone who can verify, please go for it.

To your first point: Correct,no chaining as of now,& yes a hub works just fine  Cool

Second point:You'll need a Pickit3,its the red one,no soldering, the "pads" on are back by the USB port. You will need a POGO adapter.

Edit:All info should be here:

http://projectklondike.org/how-to-program

Ok, I  just ordered one of these. Not clear if it comes with the so called POGO adapter (it looks like it might...?? maybe??). Need confirmation on this.

So, if I sent an e-mail to Steamboat, will the K16s come blank so I would have to flash them? I paid for the complete assembly and testing and the deluxe kit thing...

I'd really like to have these hashing, it's been such a dream for so long, I think I'm still hallucinating...
229  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Monarch update on: November 04, 2013, 12:24:21 AM
Anyone planning to preorder a Monarch?

Yeah, about the time hell freezes over, or Obama gets a 3rd term.

Don't hold your breath on either one of those.
230  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Did BFL mine with my unit for 3 weeks before shipping it to me? on: October 27, 2013, 12:57:49 PM

There is no ROI with a BFL single, little single, jalepeno, or anything else as of right now, if it's not in your hands hashing as of 3 months ago.

That's just a basic fact.

So, the fact that the OP is even asking that question, and is finding a lot of dust in his machine, indicates that BFL screwed him out of real money. Period. End of story.

The OP's post, and many threads regarding BFL, is not indicative of customers going nuts, or having unreasonable demands.

It is indicative of a company that treats its customers like crap and does not ship on time. Just because they actually are shipping stuff, does not mean that we should give them any kind of credit. They are simply behaving a little big better than before.

It's kind of like having a child molester in your neighborhood on parole, after the judge said he was free to go because of good behavior. That does not mean that you're gonna let him play with your kids at the park, or that he is guaranteed to be fully reformed.

BFL is fucking pathetic.

231  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: October 27, 2013, 02:30:54 AM
I see reports of miners shipping. Does that mean the USB bootloader code is finished, or did you have the units shipped as-is?

Pretty sure they are only shipping out as-is units without the USB bootloader code.

With any luck, we'll get some good news on that front real damn soon now.

Received my order of Klondikes today.  Great packaging no damage.  The units look great and had all the cables to connect the units.

Great job Steamboat!

Edit:  These are as-is units as I can get the hardware to program them.

Can you hash with the units as they are?

If they are hashing fine, and the bug in the firmware has been fixed, why would we need to re-program them? Just for a 0.5% drop in HW error rate?

I've got some units I ordered, and I'd actually like to hash with them before the end of 2013.

232  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Did BFL mine with my unit for 3 weeks before shipping it to me? on: October 27, 2013, 02:09:10 AM
BFL always tells the truth, come on, everybody knows that.

It just takes 2 weeks (TM) to come out.

/sarc off

By the way, where are my fucking Jalepenos that I ordered 6 months ago?
233  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike K16 USB and power connections on: October 26, 2013, 01:17:14 AM
Can we get a blow-up of that usb cable?

I bought a bunch of A to A male USB cables, thinking that they would be useful for the klondikes.

Will the daisychaining feature work in the new firmware, so hopefully that will not be necessary?

Thanks.

234  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: BFL Reliable? on: October 26, 2013, 01:12:41 AM
It's always interesting to see the BFL shills come out.

1000 units today only?

What about the other 8 months of backlog that you will not compensate people for late shipping?

And, for the record, yes, I am a recovering BFL sucker. Still waiting for my Jalepenos...which will probably ship when the hashing power they provide is totally worthless, not even by next week.

I honestly cannot fathom how this company is still in business. 9+ months of waiting for a product? That's just ridiculous.

Yep, great news !

Way to go !

Who do I send beer BTC to?
236  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: BFL charges about $300 for shipping & actual cost is $53.95 on: October 25, 2013, 03:40:36 AM
At this point, is anyone really surprised?

^This

+430,000,000 (next difficulty)

Nothing surprises me anymore.
237  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: October 24, 2013, 11:00:54 PM
Im not clear on how the fans are powered. I thought they were powered from the Klondike itself.

Do we have to get cables for the fans? what kind of cables? Molex to 2 pin adapters?
238  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: October 24, 2013, 02:05:42 AM
Well,I'll be finalizing the cooling solution for his hosting facility today & I'm gonna prod him to get an update to you guys ASAP  Grin

Hosting & shipping are two different things,I think...I could be wrong  Sad   .But,I believe shipping will be happening VERY soon  Wink

I just seen the news about the firmware being finalized from the BKKcoins thread...........AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Cheesy

Hes been busting his ass to keep this together,if you don't think so,then head over to the Terrahash thread & see how they're doing  Cry

BTW,I make my own cables & will be useing a host PC.Here's how I'm doing it:

Split 1 6pin PCIE into 3 :

To run the fans,4 pin molex:

Question for you. And please correct me if I'm wrong in my specs....

The power draw from a single 6 pin PCI-E connector is supposed to be 75 watts. From an 8 pin it's supposed to be 150 watts (I think).

So, if you're putting 3 x K16 on a 6 pin, do you have some sort of 8 pin to 6 pin adapter for the extra power?

Second question: Have you guys measured the power draw of a K16 with a Kill-a-watt meter at different levels of overclocking, say stock 282 mhz, 300 mhz, 350 mhz?? Because that would be informative.

I've waited this long, I would like my setup to be as efficient as possible, and it would be a shame to have the place burn down because of overloaded cables.

I highly doubt you could put more than 2 x K16's on a 6 pin cable, without an 8-pin to 6-pin converter.

Caveat to this: Some modular power supplies seem to supply the full 150 watts throuh a 6 pin connector, so that can work with that type. I have a Coolermaster Gold that seems to be that type, but my Rosewill 800 seems to have 8 pin outputs.

How do these connect to a Pi? Via usb??

I have no need for a Pi, I already have a Unix computer up and running doing various things...

Which version of CGminer supports these and how can I connect them up to a regular computer? Thanks !

Thinking of ordering a couple or more. When would these ship if I ordered them today?

Thanks.

TPTB are printing money like mad.

The miners are mining like mad.

It's gonna be interesting, that's for sure.
