41  Economy / Goods / Re: buy beef with bitcoins on: April 29, 2014, 10:14:04 PM
This is really cool.

I'm actually in the SW Missouri area, but I can drive by and pick some up.

I would be interested in grass fed beef, ribeye steaks, new york steaks, and whatever roast.

I'm all about natural food.
42  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S1 (new model) no status on: April 09, 2014, 03:32:57 AM
Can you get to the screen which shows a login into the antminer using root?

Do you have an IP address for each antminer like 192.168.1.XXX and is it on the same address range as your regular router, the 192.168.1.XXX ?

If you have the router set up as 192.168.2.XX, then something on the 192.168.2.XXX range will NOT connect to it automatically.

43  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: I do not agree with Antminer S2's pricing on: April 01, 2014, 03:06:19 AM
With the undervolting on the S2, I bet you could put a 1500 W power supply in there, and take out the 1000 W Enermax and use it to power some leftover AntMiner S1's.

Then you could jack up your S2 to 1.2-1.3 TH, and buy some leftover S1's cheap.

You'd be up to 2 TH in no time, and probably pulling 3200 W at the wall. Just enough for 2 circuits, which should be no problem.

Looks pretty awesome !
45  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Is it worth it to have a ups for mining farm?? on: March 28, 2014, 01:23:44 AM
Yep.

Put your network on a surge-UPS-surge suppressor setup, then put your computer on a surge-UPS-surge setup.

The surge supressors are usually rated for 1500 J, UPS are usually much lower (600-800 J), and then some of them when they kick in, they can surge also, so have a surge suppressor on the protected line coming out of the UPS.

That way, your equipment is totally protected.

Never, ever, skimp on surge suppression. I had a brand new, just built, killer system a couple of years ago (killer for the time), totally got wiped out by a surge, motherboard and PW fried, processor was messed up, hard drive fried. The only thing that made it out of that system was, strangely enough, an SSD that worked fine (and still works). 2 x graphics cards shot.

Used a cheap ass surge supressor. Never again.
46  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Antminer S1 , printscreen comments! on: March 28, 2014, 01:19:28 AM
Mine overclocks like a dying pig to 400. Tons of HW errors.

I'm running it at 375 and it's nice and stable with very few errors.

You got lucky with your random draw. Enjoy it.

Wow, that's a lot of AntMiners.

Nice setups gentlemen.
48  Economy / Speculation / Re: We will see $850 by March 3rd. on: March 04, 2014, 01:48:52 AM
Nope, only $658.

But, there is an up trend.

It doesn't matter anyway, because my BTC not for sale anyway.
49  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: UPDATE: MtGox OFFLINE (good news) on: February 27, 2014, 11:36:36 PM
HUGE price spike today to $1000+ , before settling back down to 560ish...

As far as I'm concerned, Gox biting the dust was good for BTC. They kept screwing people around, and started bending over backwards for TPTB.

The feds probably dug up some skeleton in the closet of the founder, because there is no other explanation as to his behavior and actions.
50  Economy / Economics / Re: how to destroy bitcoin (and cryptocurr) [?] on: February 25, 2014, 12:38:28 AM
Yep, pretty much what is happening.

Any low level analyst can figure out that the exchanges are Bitcoin's most vulnerable area, because they represent major nodes in the network.

Target the command and control, and you disrupt the whole thing.

Even something as decentralized as BTC has some parts that are more important or a higher priority than others.
51  Economy / Economics / Re: Increasing the Bitcoin amount you mine - Arbitrage post Mt Gox. on: February 25, 2014, 12:35:28 AM
Hello fellow entrepreneurs, What I am offering is advice on how to maximize the amount of Bitcoin you own and are currently holding in your wallets whether you bought or mined it!

Arbitrage, this is basically a risk free way to profit on the market imperfections through simultaneously buying and selling on different markets. Within the Bitcoin world, each exchange has a different price level, thus creating an opportunity. There are many reasons for these differences, however we are not interested in why, but how to exploit this. For more info on arbitrage refer to: http://www.investopedia.com/terms/a/arbitrage.asp

A vast majority of information online about Bitcoin arbitrage uses Mt. Gox. This is because of the significantly higher price that the exchange had a couple of weeks ago. This was due to the illiquid nature of the exchange, and the fact that it as difficult to withdraw from the exchange.

Now, Mt. Gox has various problems I am sure you are aware of, many people think that the arbitrage opportunity has disappeared however they are WRONG!

Recently I have averaged around a 2% daily return (after accounting for all fees). It is important to note that this is also compounded interest and it really adds up!

I hope that Mt. Gox doesn't stop you taking advantage of the imperfections within the Bitcoin exchanges. If you are interested in learning more please visit my blog: http://easybitcoinarbitrage.blogspot.co.uk/2014/02/bitcoin-arbitrage.html

Or send me any questions I am happy to help!!!

Interesting.

So, let me get this straight.

You just conveniently "found" a wonderful arbitrage opportunity, at the same time as Gox is allegedly having a transaction problem with fake transaction id's.

And now you want us all to be in on it? Out of the goodness of your heart?

Really?

Or is it because you need more transaction ID spoofing support, so that you can fuck over the blockchain, at some later date, and make off with all the BTC you (or other people), duplicated from Gox's wallet, and retire to your recently discount purchased Greek island?

Coincidence perhaps?

Please do correct me if I left out any details.  Grin
52  Economy / Economics / Re: UPDATE: MTGOX QUITS BITCOIN FOUNDATION on: February 25, 2014, 12:28:44 AM
Unless those gox morons are not actually morons, but people with a plan...

A plan that they are implementing to make enough BTC using fake transactions and thereby create a fork in the chain, that is big enough, and publicized enough, and with enough hashing power support to fuck us all over.

Call me paranoid, but forks in the chain have happened before.
53  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is Sushi Group buy for the Antminer S1 legit or scam? Who is legit? on: February 24, 2014, 01:40:40 AM
I bought one from Sushi also. Prompt delivery.

Sushi is not a scam, and neither is Ninja (bought one from him too).

I understand your being cautious, since I had a bad experience with a group buy also. But, you can't go wrong with either Sushi or Ninjatech.

Best of luck, but you won't need it.
54  Other / Archival / Re: [NEW] Avalon 28nm Spec 1Th/s Box to 1.9Th/s ? [Ships March] on: February 21, 2014, 02:52:01 AM
If the cost for these is 9.5 BTC, as posted in the other thread, assuming you start mining with it right now (which you can't, so I'm being generous), this will only generate 6.88 BTC in the first year, according to the genesis block.

Even if you calculate it in fiat, at current prices, you've lost money.

BTC would need to go back up to $1k for you to make any money, if you pay in fiat. BTC is a loss.

It sounds nice, to be able to mine at 1 TH, but at this point, it makes no actual sense to spend the $$ or the BTC.
55  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [4800Th] Eligius: 0% Fee BTC, 105% PPS NMC, No registration, CPPSRB (New Thread) on: February 16, 2014, 03:58:35 AM
I think you're doing a fine job.

If people don't like the pool, they can go somewhere else. Ignore the asshats.

Some people are really just a load that should have been swallowed, and it shows.
56  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: adverts for 180gh machines for 1.9BTC on: February 16, 2014, 12:59:42 AM
so what should new ppl do when these conditions, we want to join but with scammers on ebay or companies having delays with product or even expensive product; what is a noob to do b/c we want to joi too?

My advice would be to get in on some of the group buys for AntMiners, or the other 200 gh units for about 1.3ish BTC.

If you don't have BTC, there are ways to get some. There are some group buys that will do paypal.

Don't do preorders, and don't buy pre-orders. You are likely to get scammed. I bought a pre-order a while back on E-bay, and the guy never shipped, never responded to e-mails. Lucky for me, I had paid for it with Paypal using my CC. Paypal refunded.

You can pick up some deals on E-bay if you are careful.

Best way for a new miner to get started now would be to use their existing graphic card hardware and mine some scrypt coins, then convert them to BTC (if you want BTC) on cryptsy.

That way, you won't be shelling out tons of money for ASICs, and you can do it even if you don't have BTC. 2 decent R90 cards will mine you a BTC per month equivalent of LTC (roughly-I haven't done the calculations yet, maybe two months) That's enough to get you started.

58  Economy / Speculation / Re: Transferring 25k into Gox to buy at current prices on: February 15, 2014, 04:12:26 AM
Good luck with that.

I have a bridge that leads to the ocean from Arizona to sell you.

Completely, 100% safe investment for the future, as it is well known that California will fall into the ocean, at some point in the next 100 million years.

Which is about the same time you will actually see your money deposited into Gox.

I'd go for the real estate if I were you, at least you're guaranteed to get sand at either end of that bridge. With Gox, you're guaranteed to get nothing.
59  Economy / Speculation / Re: Coinbase will be next to halt withdrawals by Friday.. on: February 15, 2014, 04:08:46 AM
Would you look at that?

From 560ish to 640ish all in one day.

I just checked the Coinbase website, no mention of them stopping BTC transactions.

Coinbase current price for buying BTC is 657.10 USD.

I also checked for pieces of sky on the ground around my house. I could find none.

I looked up, there was the sky, and the moon was coming out, right on time, after the sun set.

Nothing to see here. Move along.

Yawn. I'm going to bed and am going to sleep soundly, counting BTC to help me go to bed.

Another useless thread come and gone. What a non-event, non-surprise, waste of bytes.
60  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: putting PSUs in right order on: February 15, 2014, 12:03:11 AM
I've had good luck with all the bronze and gold rated 750+ and up Corsairs, Coolermasters and Rosewill ones.

I just buy whatever is on sale or has a rebate (or both) on Newegg out of those 3. Usually, they are reasonably priced and have a rebate on top of it. Have to wait for the rebate, but it's not a big deal.
