261  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: October 02, 2013, 03:09:21 AM
I'm pretty sure I replaced C274 with a 220pF cap and I believe R45 & R46 have 383 ohm resistors.

I shipped those out at about the time we determined some working values. Does the green LED flicker once you start cgminer? It won't start submitting work until it gets it from cgminer. Firmware is installed and it should run at 350 MHz.

From your description, I don't think cgminer is working correctly. This is how I build for linux:

git clone https://github.com/kanoi/cgminer.git
cd cgminer
git checkout klondike
CFLAGS="-g -W -Wall" ./autogen.sh --enable-klondike
make

I don't have cgminer working for windows yet, it crashes. :-(

That is really good news sensei. thank you for the instructions, and thank Kano for the cgminer builds.

Hopefully, I'll get those miners in soon and try it out. Keeping my fingers crossed. Maybe once all these kinks get ironed out, Klondike will be the first out of the gate for generation 2 (assuming Avalon pulls it's head out of where it is now)...
262  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC, 100% of their hashing is currently going into their own pocket. on: October 02, 2013, 01:26:45 AM
Its nothing as I see avalon testing some terahashes in eligius in months and keep customers to wait and waste of ROI.
just because avalon did it doesn't make it okay for KnC to do it.

Eligius has gone parabolic over the last month. From 20 TH/s to 60 TH/s as of a few weeks ago.

Pretty astounding actually.

Gives you a good example of where hashrate is going. To frigging Uranus.
263  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Mixing different speed hardware in the same miner on: October 01, 2013, 10:39:17 PM
I used to run my graphics card and the USB block erupters, and bfg miner or cg miner handled it just fine.

I've seen screenshots of usb erupters and bfl jalepeno machines, so if it's a decent stable machine, it should handle it just fine.

That way, you can tear up the other machine and figure out what's wrong it it (reinstall operating system, whatever it takes).

Saves on power bills too.

Easy guys, hes workin on an update, should be very soon  Cool

Maybe midweek  Wink

Nobody is getting scammed guys. We all got screwed, Steamboat included, by the delay in chips.

Like the man said, nobody who wants refunds will be refused.

Patience.
265  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: September 28, 2013, 11:08:41 PM
I hate to keep being Debbie Downer but I am confused as to why some of you don't seem to understand the current situation. As of right ‘now’, even  if you got the chips for free, electricity for free, SB shipped the boards for FREE, you WOULD NOT make ROI.  In fact if someone came up to me TODAY with a fully functional (as in 4.5GH with no hardware errors) K16 board and asked $80 for it - I would not buy it at this point.

Again - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0Ah7ZJVoobFY7dDRGQk1kdmJmaUJwZENKZUdNejJlWEE#gid=0

Realistically if you start mining today, a K16 might produce 0.5BTC before it hits electricity/reward break point.

Well, what works for you, may not work for other people.

It's pretty much irrelevant at this point. Make whatever decision you're comfortable with, and stop trying to interpret what other people are doing.

Your spreadsheet, while quite nice, does not reflect certain realities.
266  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: The Chili – 30+GH/s BFL based Bitcoin Miner Assembly on: September 28, 2013, 10:23:22 PM
Hashrate & powerdraw Huh

Probably depends on the number of chips. Looks like you could put up to 7 chips on there, but I imagine it would work with 2-6 also.

Nice work.
267  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: TECHNOBIT's HEX16A in hand - first impressions on: September 28, 2013, 08:04:50 PM
Very nice !

Hopefully, this spells good news for the Klondike and derivative designs that sprang up from it.

Looks like the various problems are on their way to being solved.
268  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: September 28, 2013, 04:11:44 AM
So right now, assuming we had working K16, you would need one USB port per K16, as the klego connectors and the firmware to drive them properly would not work.

Right?
269  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon turns One years old 28/09/2013 on: September 28, 2013, 04:08:37 AM
Third, Avalon announces a "clearance sale" on refunded chips, that probably will never make ROI unless BTC goes astronomical.

You have to admit, that is absolute conjecture.

Depends on what the price for the "clearance sale" chips, I admit. But, Redhash is quoting about 900 W per 105 Gh/s of old Avalon chips.

The power costs will be the deciding factor.
270  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: KNC Ships their batch in 5 days, 10 days, 15 days? on: September 28, 2013, 01:43:02 AM
I'll believe it when I see it.

Ever wonder why the world "lie" is in the middle of believe ?

Strange coincidence, isn't it?
271  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Redhash by TAV. A new 105 Gh/s ASIC miner. IN STOCK NOW! on: September 28, 2013, 01:41:17 AM
Well, I'm impressed. This is the way to execute, not what BFL and Avalon did.

I hope other people will take notice on how to do things. Yes, they took a risk, and will not make as much as they hoped they would.

Welcome to having balls in the real world.
272  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Avalon turns One years old 28/09/2013 on: September 28, 2013, 01:32:32 AM
What a complete crock of shit.

First, avalon screws their customers over by not shipping promised "no bullshit" chips on time.

Second, customers that paid full price either get chips, or a refund.

Third, Avalon announces a "clearance sale" on refunded chips, that probably will never make ROI unless BTC goes astronomical.

Fourth, Avalon screws over existing, late chip customers AGAIN, by cutting the price on late chips that they paid full price on.

Why exactly would anybody deal with this company again?

273  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: September 28, 2013, 01:28:15 AM
Today's news from Avalon:

Quote
Avalon turns One years old
What a roller coaster ride it has been
We went from the last to enter the ASIC mining market crowd-funded by the community to the first to shipping a consumer product in little over 4 month. On this journey, many mistakes were made, tons of things were learned and we will continue to grow as one of the groups to keep mining decentralized and support the DIY community. Those are our goals.

In the up coming week we will doing a clearance sale on the refunded chips as well as some mining units and modules to close generation one and move on to a pre-sale-less generation two of the Avalon Project.

Stay tuned as many more exciting news will be announced in the coming week.

Everyone should request refunds at this point.

What a crock of shit.

So FIRST they delay shipping of chips, screwing their customers.

Secondly, they ship the chips that everybody paid full price for, while refunding others.

Third,
they announce a clearance sale on refunded chips.

Fourth
, that effectively screws the customers who got delayed chips at full price.

What is the incentive to buy Avalon chips again? I must have missed that one.

274  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: September 27, 2013, 02:17:49 AM
...
Hopefully, there will be a working klondike cgminer soon. I think somebody is working on it.
Yes, I am.
Not sure why bogart's didn't work, but the team I'm helping a bit with, they are all getting at least some results with the klondike branch in my git.
It still needs some work, but the current code does work with the test boards in the team and gives back '=' results.

That is wonderful news. I'm sure that if anybody can get it ironed out, it's those guys.

I'm mining more beer money for you guys with my block erupters as I type this.

Can I just compile it with the --enable-klondike --enable icarus from your git and maybe I won't get stupid usb problems anymore? Do I still need to install libusb?

I don't have a klondike (yet), but I can use the usb block erupters to see if the usb problems that I had before are still there.

275  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: September 26, 2013, 02:45:16 AM
Try this.

Open a shell in your download folder. I'm using Linux Mint 14.

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install autoconf libtool libncurses-dev yasm curl libcurl4-openssl-dev pkg-config libusb-1.0

git clone https://github.com/bkkcoins/cgminer-klondike
cd cgminer-klondike
./autogen.sh --disable-opencl --disable-adl --enable-klondike—enable-icarus (this was for me trying to get the icarus stuff working, you don't have to do it if you have no block erupters)

That was from Bkkcoins directly, and it did work to compile, but it only drove my block erupters (I don't have a klondike yet), to 110 mh/s.

Problem is, you have to install the libusb extensions..and I haven't figured out that part yet...

Hopefully, there will be a working klondike cgminer soon. I think somebody is working on it.

276  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: September 26, 2013, 01:49:04 AM
What was for sale? The boards?

They had miners listed on ebay before BKK had a chance to debug them (possibly before he had even assembled one, I can't recall exactly).

Here is the post I was referring to.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=190731.msg2492794#msg2492794

Here is my reaction at the time

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=190731.msg2502914#msg2502914

*edit* BTW I didn't even consider TH as scam but they took a big risk on lots of fronts and most of them seem to have come back to hurt.

How do you know that it was their ebay account?

It wasn't Terrahash's E-bay acccount. It was obviously some other person, in retrospect, but it was still pretty PREMATURE.

And now, because of all the troubles with Avalon shipping, it basically means people got scammed, literally. Whether it was intentional or not, it doesn't matter, the end result is the same as a scam, therefore it was/is a scam.

As for the Klondike project, there are still quite a number of people that are still working on getting this right, and I believe its VERY close to working.

Regardless of what happens, Bkkcoins is a hero, and eventually, other people were going to be involved with it/take it over anyway. So this is just the natural progression of things.

There has already been a HUGE amount of development work for the K16, and in my humble opinion, it would be completely foolish to throw it all away. Avalon (regardless of what I think of them, it aint good..), has already said that their 55 nm chip will be pin compatible with their older generation, but it will obviously be more power efficient.

So, at least to my mind, it would be GREATLY beneficial to take advantage of all this development work already done for the 110 nm chips, and have it be ready for the new generation chips when they do arrive. To throw it all away would be pretty foolish.

There are actually still examples of K16 hashing out there, and I think we would have had these problems anyway, even if Avalon had shipped the chips on time. It's just the natural progression of things, and I think the future still looks good for the K16. How do I know this? Well, let's just say I'm an optimist, for a good reason or two.
277  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: September 25, 2013, 01:42:24 AM
I have 2 boards with 16 chip each hashing at 350 MHz. The hardware error rate is high and we are working to solve that issue. We believe it to be SW related. There is a group of 6 or 8 of us working on this.

I'm sorry I've been off line for a while, but have been busy trying to work out the build and debugging boards.

I've also been trying to communicate with bkkcoins, send emails every week with updates. He too also owes me (k1 heat sinks), but I am the eternal optimist and believe to hear from him again. I do believe he is a good man.

In one of my last conversations with bkkcoins, he stated he was about to work on and complete the K1 firmware.

If there are any who asked for refunds from me, I will process them. I am sorry for the delay. I am an honest man and you will get your money.

Well, if you guys get the K16 firmware sorted out, I will personally send you BTC for beer. Pls post a donation address.

I think one of the group buys that I'm in on, Steamboat's, is also working on the firmware issue.

I looked at the firmware, but there seem to be problems that I'm way out of my league on, so, I'm offering beer coins to whoever gets it solved.
278  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Anyone else have a Dwolla -> CampBx problem? on: September 25, 2013, 01:34:29 AM
I did a test transfer a little while back. Worked pretty good.

I guess wait for your ticket to be resolved. Sometimes whatever applet they do hiccups, usually CampBX claims it's the Dwolla side.

Give it a day, check the Dwolla balance and see if it left. If it didn't get to CampBX, then you have a problem and need to take it up with them.
279  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Liquid Synergy Designs Inc. -ASIC mining hardware on: September 23, 2013, 09:15:28 PM
So it's been 12 days since the last update? Also 12 days since I submitted my request, with nothing to show for it. Not even a confirmation. 12 days of waiting, and not knowing if my refund request was EVEN RECEIVED?!

I've been trying to give SB some time. I never even sent in a duplicate refund request because I didn't want to slow the process. But now I'm having visions of hearing "Oh, your refund request was never received, sorry 'bout that..."

Come on now, this is getting ridiculous. Can we PLEASE get some information on the progress of refunds, or even if our request is properly in queue? I don't even know if I should expect refunds for JUST the chips, if I'm waiting for an assembly refund as well, or if that is yet to be requested.

Steamboat - do you think you could waste a few minutes of your valuable time to answer these nagging questions that have persisted since your last update?

It's pretty interesting to observe that when I was sending in money for each batch order, the confirmation e-mails came within a day of having sent the BTC.

Now that I've requested a refund for all my batch orders, along with the transaction ID's, signatures, etc for everything, there is not even a confirmation that the refund has been submitted, or submitted properly.

So, does that mean if I missed a 6 on one of my transaction ID's or anything (which, I don't think I did), does that just invalidate the entire refund for ALL of my transactions on this group buy? Does that mean ANOTHER 12 day wait with no confirmation, no nothing?

Bueller? Bueller? Anybody?
