981  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Useless top 25 Cryptos which will not be there in 2019 on: March 19, 2018, 08:50:00 PM
I think there is going to be a lot of movement in ranks, but I think most top 25 coins are going to be here come 2019.

Just a reminder that these top crypto are centralized. Which is suppose to be trustless.

982  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is a good amount to invest? on: March 19, 2018, 08:29:19 PM
Only invest what you can afford to loose.

I tell people you can start with as little as $5. There are several ways to purchase cryptocurrency at minimum values. The biggest thing is only investing what you can afford to loose. Most people getting into the scene are not doing this even though it's stated endlessly. I would suggest finding a project you really believe in and invest what you can afford to loose and continue to do that over a period of a year. You can't go wrong with getting into Bitcoin, Ethereum or NEO.

If you believe in the technology (blockchain) and invest in the protocols (Bitcoin, Ethereum, NEO) and promote and support the tokens you will succeed in this industry.

I personally started with $500 as that is what I was comfortable with losing. I put in more capital every week and have been doing that for the last year. I also invest capital at certain points in the market that I repay at certain bench marks.
983  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do I keep my cryptocurrency safe? on: March 19, 2018, 07:07:30 PM
I think it will  help all the beginners to improve there security in crytocurrencies..............

The safest way to store your airdrops are hardware & cold storage wallets. These wallets store your coins offline, and therefore protect them from being hacked. There are a number of hardware wallets available. We would advise to use the Ledger Wallet Nano S or Trezor.

Not all cryptocurrency can be stored in hardware wallets. We advise you to store your crypto in wallets where you control your private keys. You don't want your free crypto to be stolen!

To avoid scams we have a few general rules:

    Never give your private keys!
Use 2 Factor Authenticator on your wallets
Be careful downloading wallets of smaller projects
Never click on links redirecting to wallets
Don’t use your main email address to apply for airdrops
Don’t re-use your passwords when you register on a website
Don’t send small amounts of crypto to receive your airdrop

Here is an updated list of available hardware wallets. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3066531.0

Rule of thumb if you want to be super safe. Keep everything off line and never talk about it.
984  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is the risk necessary to make a big profit? on: March 19, 2018, 02:28:12 AM
I disagree with a few people here. I don't think risking it is the only way to make big profit. I agree though there is a HUGE different between calculated risk and reckless risk. On paper I take calculated risk all the time, but I look at it as research and following the process. Never make reckless risks or panic decisions.
985  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Finaly some good news from G20 on: March 19, 2018, 01:43:35 AM
This is amazing news and was really no expected; however, it's not over quiet yet. The topic will be brought up again as it was more of "we don't have time now" situation. G20 approving of cryptocurrency would be amazing and I could see it happening if there is positive growth and development over the next couple of years.
986  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Review Site for ICOs? on: March 19, 2018, 01:10:05 AM
This thread here - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2552575.0 contains some really good spreadsheets maintained by ICO researchers, rating upcoming ICOs on a wide number of parameters. I've found these to be very helpful as a starting point of my research.

I can not stress this thread enough relating to ICOs. It's got some great contributors and they update their lists weekly if not daily.
987  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: (WIP) Community Compiled List of Sites Browser Mining on: March 19, 2018, 12:43:58 AM
btw thepiratebay.org isn't showing that there's any mining going on. I've tried all the pages until downloading the torrent file and still nothing.
I thought Piratebay stopped their miner when there's a huge community backlash against them last year?

I find it's hit and miss I got a positive for it the other day, but as I check it now nothing.
988  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [Question] Bitcoin Quilts would you buy one? on: March 18, 2018, 09:24:13 PM
Here is an update of the Bitcoin quilt. This is what it will look like finished. There is no hand stitching done yet or back attached.

Note: I was told the blue is a lot lighter than it appears in the image.

989  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Types of Ethereum Addresses on: March 17, 2018, 06:22:53 PM
Private wallet address - An address represents the public key of an asymmetric key pair. The owner of the key pair can use the private key to sign transactions or messages.

Exchange address - A unique address that is connected to a personal KYC account that connects a value and an owner together.

Smart contract - A contract is a collection of code (its functions) and data (its state) that resides at a specific address.

You only technically need to have a personal address that holds value (Bitcoin, Ethereum etc) to start trading. You than send this to an exchange address (which you don't create, it's issued by an exchange). As for smart contract think of it like a vending machine, it's an agreement that works as an intermediate. I would suggest looking around https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Address to really understand how address function.
990  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Duplicated token symbol is their any problem with that ? on: March 17, 2018, 06:11:54 PM
There could be any number of ERC20 contracts deployed with the name string variable. However, each one of these contracts has a unique Ethereum contract address. There's no rule prohibiting duplicate token symbols. Search in EtherScan's token page and you'll see there are lots.

The biggest problem that might happen is confusing or misleading users. This is just for Ethereum though I am not sure how NEO works specifically, but I can assume its the same process.
991  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Finding Crisis.. on: March 17, 2018, 04:56:20 PM
It really comes down to risk assessments in any given market. The really rich usually have people that invest for them, which keeps them out of trouble. They like keeping their money safe, not risking it in the unknown. Whales on the other hand in the market as its been proven have been buying nonstop over the last 3-4 months as it's fallen. If there was a very clear equation for success in cryptocurrency everyone would be billionaires. This as we know is not the fact.

I would expect that we will see a lot of change over the next 3-6 months when it comes to price swings.
992  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much digital currency is there in the world? on: March 17, 2018, 04:31:19 PM
Cryptocurrencies: 1564 / Markets: 9414
Market Cap: $313,825,388,553 / 24h Vol: $10,983,170,968 / BTC Dominance: 42.9%
via https://coinmarketcap.com

There has been thousands of cryptocurrency created, but only a couple dozen will really be here for the long term. The biggest argument in the space right now is will/what will overtake Bitcoin.

In my opinion the future cryptocurrency to rule them all has not been developed yet. There are great platforms and technology in the space, but I think sharding and some technology that is in development will really outlast it all. I also believe Bitcoin will be around forever and be the 'gold' of the space.

993  Economy / Marketplace / Re: [Question] Bitcoin Quilts would you buy one? on: March 17, 2018, 03:03:03 PM
What sort of prices are you thinking the final product will fetch? The design looks really simple, which isn't a bad thing, but it's not going to really take anyone's breath away.

The one that is being worked on right now which will be 60x60 -hand stitched quilting- would on average go for about $1000. Most quilts are rather expensive due to the beforementioned time and effort that goes into creating them. Note: The pictures to date are only the centre section, there will be a blue/green outer area and boarder from my understanding.

Here is an example from the internet of what hand stitches.

This goes without saying, but these would be one in a kind and are not mass produced. I should be getting updated pictures soon and can show the detail that goes into them.

I would be extremely interested in purchasing a quilt, but after reading through the thread it sounds like it might be absurdly expensive. I'm not sure if you're saying that your quilts would be somewhere around $500+, but that is quite a bit for a Bitcoin blanket. Not trying to take anything away from it, because I'm sure there would be  someone willing to buy it at auction, especially if it is a limited edition collectible that has a lot of time and work put into it.

If anyone is interested in something unique and custom the price can be negotiated for a custom project. It would just either decrease size, amount of material or amount of hours spent on the product. To give some insight the material for this project alone costs around $240-340 ($8-20/yd). I know the group did a baby quilt recently that was around $400 and was 40x40. Just depends what people want and these things last forever if taken care of. Note: I started this thread in hopes to support local community of quilters that raise money for their quilt guild, breast cancer and other charities.

It might not work but was worth a shot. Worst case I end up with a 60x60 quilt for myself Tongue

997  Economy / Economics / Re: If this chart is correct, it puts the price of bitcoin at $91,000 by 2020 on: March 16, 2018, 09:23:40 PM
Ha ha The chart is not correct. It has a mistake!

Look at the predicted price in the upper right corner. It is not showing $91,000 in 2020.

This. The chart really does not make much sense, but it's interesting to see another ratio for prediction of price.

999  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Mining on Mobile Phone on: March 16, 2018, 10:17:18 AM
I am really surprised there has not really been a cryptocurrency launched that targets mining off iOS and Android mobile/tablet operating systems. I know there was discussions about large scale phone mining, but I would be interested in seeing the ability to focus on the mobile market. The mobile market is massive and is 51.95% compared to Desktop 43.98% and Tablet 4.07%.

There use to be a very large network of research facilities using peoples phones through apps when they were asleep. A user could donate their phone processing power while sleeping or not using their phone. The network would than calculate processing based off each phones ability. I would love to see something similar with it's own cryptocurrency.
