Is there a safe shutdown command, like a "Halt" for these? Either for web Gui or ssh?

ssh in and use the unix shutdown/reboot command it shuts down all the services.

as for unplugging the network cable and waiting why not just shut down cgminer???

/etc/init.d/cgminer stop
and
/etc/init.d/cgminer start

when u change frequency there is no need to reboot it either just stop cgminer and and start it again.
162  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [5000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: August 20, 2014, 08:55:13 PM

Is it generally agreed that Slush has been trustworthy and nothing shady is happening?

Does anyone actually make sure when the pool finds a block, that it actually gets distributed to its workers?

it would be pretty obvious. why would slush even need to do that since he is making a killing from us all.
crazy talk
163  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: August 13, 2014, 09:24:54 PM
I didn't find it on the first page and the post I found was locked , so I ask... How do  I reset an s1?

I thought like any other device on power hold the s2 button and hope for some indication that its reset.

Is there another button or am I missing another button somewhere

Edit: It went and went with no notification except me trying to connect

hold the button in then turn on the power supply, hold it for a few more seconds then release.
wait 2 - 3 minutes for the network lights to start blinking. I've had one need to wait 5 minutes.

when it takes longer I shut the power off and back on. it seems sometimes this reset causes them to hang up where repeating the process again resolves it.
164  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: BITMAIN Antminer S3 support and OverClocking thread on: August 13, 2014, 09:04:31 PM
Finally got this setup finished. Built a custom server room in my pole barn to house all the ants. I figured they would run nice n cool with a small air conditioned room and the ants exhausted out the back. but that doesn't look like the case. I'm seeing temps on most of them up around 47 and 48 degrees even with the ac on high. I'm not sure if it's because all the PSU's are so close to the ants that it's sucking in the warm exhaust from the psu's, or just need a bigger AC, or maybe something wrong with the airflow of the room. The ants are creating suction in the small room, so much it whams the door shut and there is a noticeable difference in the sounds the fans are making while the door is open vs the door being shut. When it's shut it sounds like a vacuum when you put your hand over the hose. Is 47-48 not OCed still acceptable or should I worry about getting them down and suggestions on doing that which doesn't require moving the Ants.  Undecided

I think the room is supposed to be sealed instead of having ants pull air off it. Your ants should warm the room while the AC cools it back  keeping the set temperature.

The room has a problem in that The AC cannot pump air in at the same rate as the Antminers pump it out.  Hence why the fans struggle.  The AC isn't doing the job, and with that many fans you don't need AC to have a nice breeze.   Just open up the vents instead, and hey presto.

Also, try to work out a way to pump all that lovely hot air into your home.  I'm quite serious.  Why waste warmed air and burn fuel to heat your home instead?

"The room has a problem in that The AC cannot pump air in..."
This AC Unit does not PUMP AIR into rooms, it recirculates the air in the room.

It is simple logic going on here, his S3's are blowing air out of the room leaving the room with LESS air aka a vacuum.
The S3's exhausts should be blowing inside the room not outside the room. then the AC Unit pulls in the hot air cools it down blowing out cool air.

To fix this properly he needs to pull all the s3's forward and close up those exhaust holes. then he needs to figure out the most efficient air flow. the S3's are going to dictate all the air in the room circulates in the direction their back fan are pointing, while the AC Unit is trying to circulate the air outward from it and back in. so the most efficient setup is not having them fight for flow but joining the flow.

Omg longest block ever..12hours.... I've seen long blocks but now I am trying out cloud hashing for 24 hour and now seems a waste...sadden I am. ..

heh longest block ever heh

I THINK the longest block was 26 hrs if i remember correctly

newbies...soooo cute (stay away from BFL!)

Searing

Cloud hashing startles me, how and why would a company buy all the hardware and infrastructure just to sell the hash power at less than what the coins are worth, if they are selling the hash pwr at higher rate than the coins are worth, then why would someone pay for the hash pwr.

Am I missing something here, or is it a gamble on the company selling the power that the hardware is directed at a pool and it has a stupid long round/s?

I'm thinking the money people are sending them is paying for the Equipment and power to run them, all the other stuff doesnt much matter. They can then skim 2% of the hashing power from each machine and go completely unnoticed to pay for a few Porsche's.
166  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: June 17, 2014, 02:37:45 AM
I knew it would happen.
I had a 2 hour power cut this morning 16 hours into the block.
Of course the block was found after 18 hours and I received 0 reward.
Doesn't seem fair that I used 16 hours worth of electricity for nothing and yet somebody who hopped in to Slush one hour before the block got a full reward  Undecided

the only thing u should be mad at is the person who jumped in 1 hour before, HAD POWER and u did not.
Otherwise there are other pools you can join to alleviate this booboo
167  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: GHash and 51% on: June 17, 2014, 02:35:40 AM

old news of falling skies!

OMG what with our luck! slush broke something! hope he fixes it. omg the hash rate, omg the pay outs, omg!
168  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Kit, sales price changes daily, now $2247 per Kit on: June 05, 2014, 02:04:16 PM

When people say that the rig is pulling 1050 they mean using their watt-o-meter, all the slightly lower efficiency means is that it pulls a few Watts more from the wall.

1050 watts at the wall in the case of the PSU on the S2 would mean its probably providing 916W to the miner (87.3% efficient) in fact in order to provide 1000W to the miner it would be pulling 1154W from the wall  Shocked

My kill-a-watt reports just on ~ 9 amps on a US 120v circuit for the S2, when cranking ….

9A @ 120V = 1080W
9A @ 110V = 990W

I thought the US was on 110v?

He said his circuit was at 120v drawing 9amp, so you cant then say the circuit is at 110v and multiply it by the amps. if it were at 110v it most likely would be at a higher amp to match the 1080w.

volts at the wall varies 110-120. it is best to use 115v when building out circuits.
The 110-120 is 1 phase off a 220-240 circuit. All houses in the US are fed 220-240 from the pole to power ovens, large ac units, dryers etc and then the legs are split off 110-120 for outlets/lights etc in the house.

How are the 10 boards powered from the power supply? 10 atx wires? (oh 6 atx to power board) 3 per 750 power supply then!
Wouldn't it be cheaper and more efficient using 2 750watt supplies? of course one would be outside the case.

I would think as we phase out the S1's those left over 750's would power these easily.

anyhow that is what I would do instead of running a power supply at 100% 24/7/3.
3 being for 3 months when it fries itself.. haha.
even 2 600's or 650's.

man I so want to move all my miners here during this nutso luck...

but we all know how that goes! as soon as I do that... 22hour block 18hour block 12 hour block! OMG!

me just go back to not touching stuff...

I mined elsewhere but always switched back to slush...my daily avg. on slush pool is higher than any other pool I have mined with.

Yeah 90% of my hardware is here, the 10% other is to level out when we hit bad luck. win win in my mathematical eyes.

Repeating the same rant again, my confirmed reward has been above the threshold for some hours, but payment is not happening.  Ticket raised with Slush support.
Payment made.  All good now.  Thanks Slush Support!

Cheers

Highly unlikely support did anything for you...
If you really get this nuts over late payouts, you should def throw your miners on Eligius for a month... 4+ days of no payouts happening repeatedly will teach you how much to embrace the consistency of payouts here...
173  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [2000 TH] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + VarDiff on: June 02, 2014, 07:46:25 PM
hi guys, any help or advice would be great, over the last couple of days i know the pool has grown . but for most of the morning i have been hashing with 3 s1 antminers at 535 ghz and i was getting approc 554k-550k
and it just went down for the rest of the day to 490k - 495k per block, is this a thing to do with slush pools point systems....thanks  Cry

So I assume you have these overclocked to 200gh/s which is 600gh/s total. so you are seeing around 550gh/s which is 10% missing.
This is normal for a slush pool... I see it happen a lot to my miners. I have no clue where that 10% vanishes too. I stopped caring 6 months ago as my payouts are being paid as if the 10% is not missing. and my projected is always right when the 10% is missing.

So I must assume it just a calculation error on slush's part.

174  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Setup & Troubleshoot] Bitmain AntMiner S1 180GH/S miner on: June 02, 2014, 07:38:12 PM
I tried everything you suggest me but nothing.Am kind dissapoind for a new user using antminer s1 Embarrassed

I have set up dozens of these, always follow the same procedure, and never had any issues.

Step 1:
System Tab:
Set correct timezone
Replace ntp servers with 198.58.100.237, 209.118.204.201, 199.195.193.200, 189.211.62.210
Click 'Save'

Step 2:
Network Tab:
Click 'edit' on the WAN adaptor.
Address: 192.168.1.101 (last number can be anything you want, use something different from the original .99)
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.254 (This can be different depending on router)
Broadcast: Blank
DNS: 8.8.8.8
Click 'Save'

Step 3:
Status Tab:
Miner Configuration
Enter 3 different pools
Click 'Save'

In the top right it will now say in red something like '20 unsaved changes', click that, then save and apply on next screen.

Wait for about 10 seconds after you see it saying 'applying changes to cgminer' then type the new IP you set for the machine, im my example 192.168.1.101, and you should be off and running.  Occasionally you may need to go to system tab and reboot, or power off and on.

NOTE... for people who arent network smart this is wrong "Address: 192.168.1.101 (last number can be anything you want, use something different from the original .99)"

It can't be anything greater than 253 and it cant be 0. and you should not use 1.

what did slush fix to increase the luck and why doesnt he do it when the luck is bad!!!

How can I configure the stats page to show separate charts for different miners?
(like this: http://eligius.st/~wizkid057/newstats/userstats.php/1LnUhyCuejMR9dpV559CauwokCGg2n1doH )

Just add an underscore and a miner name for each miner

e.g. the graph above is generated with the login username in the miner software for each miner differentiated thus:

1LnUhyCuejMR9dpV559CauwokCGg2n1doH_isengard63
1LnUhyCuejMR9dpV559CauwokCGg2n1doH_AX007202
1LnUhyCuejMR9dpV559CauwokCGg2n1doH_AX002901
1LnUhyCuejMR9dpV559CauwokCGg2n1doH_AX007267
1LnUhyCuejMR9dpV559CauwokCGg2n1doH_AX007341
etc
etc
etc

how would I know the miner name to an S1? looking over the configs, uname etc, I dont see anything unique to each S1

BITMAIN YOU KNOW THIS IS A PROBLEM DO YOURSELF AND YOUR CUSTMOMERS A FAVOUR AND SHIP THE CARDS UNINSTALLED.

exactly. wrap the cards separate to be installed on arrival. but of course that would require possibly more space and have them trying to jam all the wrapped cards into the case creating problems of the cars corners eating thru the packing and damaging other things.

you would think after 4 items arrive damaged they would hire an Ape to toss a shipping box around until the outcome is no damage.
179  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: AntMiner S2 1TH/s Miner Batch 4, Price changes daily, now 2424 USD for 1TH/s on: May 13, 2014, 09:25:29 PM
I had made a suggestion to bitmain in an earlier post to add crossbars to keep the metal from bending. Each card is pretty heavy which contributes to this.

A suggestion is a crossbar which keeps the cage intact and from bending, which leads to the cards being loosened....ALSO the crossbar can also be used to lock in a center plate or bar that can keep the cards in place...it can even be a strong plexiglass. UNDER the cards on either side of the backplane, some kind of brace can be used to keep the cards from rocking in transit. This could be a permanent thing or just a temporary shipping aspect (which might need to be noted so people remove it after shipping).

The problem really is not bitmain here. BUT they have to take into account that UPS really doesn't care about what is in the box. All the care about is getting it where it needs to be. And it takes a beating along the way. Gotta make it hard for them not to smash up our hardware lol.

Pretty much this video shows how UPS does things https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Q6_9A90cUk

Um when you build something that breaks easily from a fall the problem is 100% yours.
New video cards lock into their slots for a reason and it isnt cuz a delivery company may handle the pc badly.

Building something with cards that are heavy and not making them lock into place at the slot or above is 100% your fault 100% of the time, pointing the finger at others is pathetic.

In the year I have been mining here I have never seen a swing in luck like that

it happens all the time, that is how it always averages out on the Slush pool o luv
