121  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Should I research altcoins? on: November 27, 2017, 05:16:58 PM
Hi all,

Seeing as I have a lot of free time, I have decided to take on the mammoth task of researching the top 600 alt coins.

I will review their white papers, research their team and make comparisons between projects. I will write a 500+ word assessment for each project that I research. I currently do not have a job and so, can dedicated 100% of my time towards this. I will work down the list by market capitalisation starting with Bitcoin, then Ethereum etc.

Overall, the project should take me around 1 - 2 months.

Between every 100 projects I review, I will write a 1000+ word paper on comparing similar and competing projects.

I will also leave links to the documents as I go through so that other investors can benefit and read.

A little bit of background about me: I discovered Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies a few months ago. I have dropped out of school after making a (very) significant amount of money in the crypto-space. I can program in C++, Javascript, Python and Solidity.

I will begin today, and will have papers on Bitcoin, Ethereum and Bitcoin Cash ready and released.

If you have any suggestions about coins that you would like researched, please feel free to leave a comment  Smiley
If this project gets enough attention, I will create a website and a proper presentation.

Introductory paper - https://docs.wixstatic.com/ugd/2459d4_0475705022cb4bcd9de7469407b78bdf.pdf

This is a mammoth task and I admire your motivation to do it, every investor should really do this but I'm sure many of us do not, perhaps we can read all of your shortened versions when they are finished and gain some valuable insight!
122  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Swap bitcoin to alts on: November 27, 2017, 05:15:02 PM

Bitcoin rally  today is huge and it must end at some point.

Now I want to swap part of bitcoins into alts with only one goal  - to gain bitcoin value. What do you think? What alts will raise in bitcoin price in next days if bitcoin begin to fall in dollar value?

Normally this logic is sound, but right now most alts are on the up as well and so the likelihood is they will also fall if bitcoin falls. If you're set on swapping to alts then I would go for XRP, it hasn't had a big pump like most of the other major alts.
123  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Proces of participating in ICO on: November 26, 2017, 09:14:57 PM
What is the process of participating in an ICO? I am thinking about, how long is a token sale, how fast after the ICO does the token start trading etc. How much time is there from when I put my money into the token sale until I can sell it again? Thanks!

It depends entirely on the ICO so make sure to look in to all of these things before investing. Generally a token sale will last about a month for the main ICO and will start trading a week or two after the end of the token sale. Some have pre-icos which can be many months before the actual ICO. Generally if there's no bonus you can wait until the end of the ICO to invest and that will reduce the time you must wait to trade your tokens but you should make sure you comply with any KYC requirements in advance of trying to purchase tokens as it can be a hold up.
124  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum at $1000 in Jan 2018? on: November 26, 2017, 09:12:37 PM
I have a high expectation from Ethereum but I don't think Ethereum price will be 1,000$ in January. Probably more time is needed. Nevertheless mine is just a guess.

Guessing also but I agree it won't hit 1k by january, probably some time in 2018 but it will need some time. Maybe 500 usd can be passed comfortably in January, for all the time bitcoin is really rising ethereum will not because many people invest in one or the other.
125  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: RIPPLE Spiking on: November 23, 2017, 05:35:51 PM
The ripple coin is backed up by a strong project and the today's 10% rise in its price indicates, it has something special than other alts and will be one of the highest value alts in future. A lot of banks have shown interest in co-operating Ripple.

The price action of ripple is looking like will continue next days too. They're making great agreements with the leaders of the payment companies. If they can apply ripple on real banking transfers, the price will go to the moon for real.

Yep, if they do make that breakthrough with a bank it will really shoot up but it's important to remember that ripple can't ever really go too high in value simply because of its large supply. If it reached $1 it would be just behind ethereum in terms of market cap.
126  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Metronome (MTN) Bitcoin Killer? on: November 23, 2017, 05:32:49 PM
I don't think any coin will replace bitcoin, in fact if a coin manages to improve on bitcoin I don't see why bitcoin wouldn't simply copy it, it would then be able to offer the same but would already have its existing support in the market.
127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Will Dash hit $1000 by January? on: November 23, 2017, 12:52:39 AM
From the look of hype, yes it seems so. I wouldn't buy from $600 just because it could go to $1000 though. It's a high risk at this level. I prefer to stay away and watch out from far away. I don't like to gamble, I wouldn't buy anything from ATH price levels.

Wise words, it's often a bad idea to buy at a new ATH as a dump/correction is incoming. Really I can't see 1k being breached this year, perhaps some time in 2018 but it definitely will need a period of stability before.
128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Wish I never bought altcoins on: November 23, 2017, 12:50:42 AM
I think you've just bought them in a bad time. Altcoins is relatively unstable and its value is fluctuating. But if buy it the right time, you can earn more.

YUP! Everyone saying they shouldn't have bought alts either bought the wrong alts or at the wrong time, no doubt many people did the opposite and are very happy that they bought alts!
129  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Time to dump ETH? on: November 21, 2017, 08:36:32 PM
At this rate of volume growth, I think it is not advisable to reset the Ethereum . Ethereum have great potential and the price is not the limit of its capabilities

I shall accumulate some ETH. It has consolidated for some time and the price will be up.

I'd be wary of doing such a thing, while $300 was consolidated and seemed like a good entry price the price has risen recently and now it's a case of how high can it go before the inevitable correction? I certainly wouldn't pay more than $400.
130  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Life after crypto? on: November 21, 2017, 08:34:47 PM
Is there such a thing?
Personally i have to check the news/price of various cryptos at least every day but far more frequent than that.
What if you sold everything, would you still feel the need to check? hoping the price is crashing now of course instead of mooning.
Is there a way out?.
Is there a support group for crypto addicts?

I hope never to have to realise such a situation because that means cryptos will survive and I will have made a success of it. I guess like many things it can be addictive and you'll probably never truly stop, even if you sold all your coins you would still check in to see what's happening.
131  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What do you think is the most challenging part of doing ICO due diligence? on: November 19, 2017, 10:13:10 PM
I'm fairly new to the space and I'm wondering what everyone feels is the most challenging part of conducting due diligence on ICOs. Would like to hear your thoughts!

I think that the hardest part for me is actually finding the time to do my due diligence. I do not have the time to read every white paper thoroughly so I find that I have to make judgments about projects very early on, often times I write off ICOs just by the layout of their ANN thread or if I see any errors such as poor grammar etc. I know that doing this I will certainly miss out on some really great ICOs but it's just something that I feel is necessary.
132  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where can we find the trustable icos ? on: November 19, 2017, 10:10:29 PM
Where can we find the trustable icos ?
How can we solve the system if ponzi or not ?

99% of ICOs are scam . They collect fund from people and they are absent when the program start ?

There is no one place that you can only find the trustable ICOs, you can try and use some ICO review sites to get an opinion but they can still be wrong. Mostly you just have to scan through all of the ICOs and find the good ones yourself. There are many ways to do this but they all involve around you taking your time to do your own research. With regards to 99% being scams I wouldn't say that is true, while many are scams I would not think it is anywhere near that number, and in fact many that are later labelled as scams are actually projects which are legitimate but are just very poorly executed.
133  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Waves Vs. Ethereum on: November 18, 2017, 10:43:11 PM
Waves is good coin and incredibly helpful but it is not new Ethereum. Their decentralized exchange is still unusable, no quantity, too many bugs. It's promising but Sasha is operating too slow. I don't anticipate large alterations in short term.

Waves while promising hasn't yet really shown anything to suggest to me that it can replace ETH and make ETH useless. ETH has stood the test of time and though it has its problems they are generally resolved promptly and progression is still occurring.
134  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you still support Ethereum? on: November 18, 2017, 10:41:58 PM
Of course, ETH is an excellent coin. Ahead there are many events. I buy ETH at any price, because it always grows  Cool

Agreed, for me ETH could be the biggest coin in cryptocurrencies in the future. It is a few years away but it could happen, for now I still try to accumulate any eth when I get the chance to.
135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: BTC is dead. The plan is a shift to Bitcoin Cash. on: November 17, 2017, 01:39:24 AM
BTC may not recover, but instead money will flow back to the superior, original bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash. Buy bitcoins now for under $400 again! Watch for the BCC related conference coming up this week. Huge things ahead! Don't be in the dark on these developments!

Well this was a really good shout in terms of transferring funds in to bitcoin cash. Though I disagree that bitcoin is dead, it has continued to show its strength and resilience and I think it won't be long before bitcoin is in to 5 figures.

Hi there, it's updated already  Grin

Great thanks! Can I win now even if my answer isn't the best  Tongue What if I say that I'm from a really obscure country like San Marino?

138  Other / Off-topic / Re: Cant Sleep :( on: November 16, 2017, 11:47:10 PM
This past few months i dont know why but its hard for me to get sleep Sad any suggestion or opinion that would help me to got better sleep at night . Huh my regular sleep 4-5am Sad

Insomnia is something I have suffered with for many years so I know your struggle, sadly there is no one size fits all solution, for me I find that trying to be active in the day time and ensuring I get enough melatonin is key, then I do little things such as reading before bed, drinking a warm drink, taking a shower. i also have a program called flux installed on my laptop that is very useful for moderating the level of light emitted. I wish you luck in your battle with sleep!
139  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Do you see alts have chances against Bitcoins? on: November 16, 2017, 02:12:39 AM
Ethereum have a high chance to replace bitcoin on its throne on the long run in my opinion and own ways of viewing and speculating. But for now Bitcoin is stable on its high price and I don't think that altcoins will have a chance against bitcoin in this year or two. Maybe five to ten years from now lets see what will happen.  Smiley

I would say right now ethereum is one of only a few that have the potential to replace bitcoin as no 1. In the battle of bitcoins vs all altcoins in terms of market share then it is sadly for bitcoin a losing battle, eventually the might of all the other coins will overtake bitcoin and its share will be less than 50%
140  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: 🔥⚡[ANN]⚡🔥 StopTheFakes.io [STFcoin]⚡Anti-Counterfeit & Copyright Infringement on: November 16, 2017, 01:44:55 AM
Copyright infringement etc is obviously huge and an accurate solution would be ideal but I have two concerns. Firstly is that I do not really understand why the blockchain is necessary for this, it could simply be done with a working app and a usual currency could it not? Secondly, you mentioned in your example how a company gains x amount by stopping copyright infringement but this is actually not true, the company will only make money if the individuals who would otherwise by counterfeits would instead buy the originals. In many cases this is simply just not true.

Hi. Thank you for your questions.

The core principles of StopTheFakes.io project:
- Global reach. We are going to аddress copyright offenses worldwide, regardless of the jurisdiction they belong to.
- Large-scale participation. We invite а great number of Doers such as regular Internet users and consumers. Geographic location and language, as well as goods consumed,  are virtually of no difference. - Everyone is welcome to detect offenses and register these findings with the right holders.
- Transparency. We operate within a legal framework and have nothing to hide. All of our information will be accessible to the public, except for confidential data.
- Speed. The earlier an infringement is detected the less will the right holders lose. We always have to be one step ahead of the offender.
- Affordability. We want to оffer our service not only to big brands, but also small business owners and private parties.
- Cooperation. We bring together trade associations, public organizations and everyone who is willing to take action and support the copyright protection agenda.
- Dependability. Not only do we detect infringements but we also ensure data security and inalterability of the evidence collected.
It was impossible to realize these principles before the emergence of Blockchain technology and cryptocurrency market formation. Our project is first to bring innovation to copyright protection.

Blockchain in StopTheFakes.io

Іnfringement detection Alerts sent by Doers have to be recorded in an unmodifiable way. The Alert contains the following data:
  • Unique identifier assigned by the system
  • Date and time of the recording
  • Geodata and page address
  • Date and time when the information was sent to the system
  • Unique information on the device used for the recording
  • Pictures, videos, screenshots
  • The Doer's text comment
This data is then formed into a unique block inscribed in the Ethereum blockchain. It contains a checksum of every file that's been enclosed in the Alert as well as every Alert's checksum. Modifying even one byte of information would change the checksums. The entry will not correspond to the block from the Ethereum chain.
Once the Alert is taken up by the Requestor acceptance information is also added to Blockchain. This serves as a guarantee for the Doer.

Token

The absolute certainty with which we guarantee the Blockchain system participants' integrity has to lead to the emergence of cryptocurrency, a universal payment means that doesn't require any additional assurances from banks, governments, and other organizations. Thus, cryptocurrency:
  • Is not limited by state boundaries
  • Allows significantly minimize transaction costs
  • Provides complete anonymity
  • Makes payment transaction processing faster.
The rise of Ethereum рlatform and its spread made it possible to create one's own cryptocurrency, that is, tokens. However, there's no need to build one's own infrastructure, attract miner pools and spend money on developing additional software.

STFcoin tokens in StopTheFakes.io system

The service will become a unified global system that facilitates the dialogue between people and companies from different parts of the world. Such a system was impossible to create before the emergence of fully functioning cryptocurrency market. Transaction costs and payment systems commission fees would simply constitute a larger part of the original cost of copyright infringement detection services. Yet, the efficacy of such measures would be next to none due to the difference in domestic legislation and slow payment processing.

On the second question: maybe you are right and maybe not. This is a hard question which only serious research of the market and consumer behavior can answer. At the moment, large companies lose about 20% of the market on counterfeit. About 20% of the budget is allocated on fighting against counterfeiters. So we have already 40%, which must be included in the cost of the goods. Accordingly, the question arises: what is more interesting for you, to buy a cheap counterfeit, which you will throw out in a couple of months or buy a quality product 40% more affordable, which will serve you for many years?

Thank you for getting back to me and in such great detail, a lot has become clearer to me now. I will look to support your project in one way or another despite still having a few reservations as it is such a large industry that if successful the rewards for investors can be absolutely huge, I am also impressed thus far with how well you seem to understand the industry and the interaction with the community.
