81  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Drowning - Send Lifeguard!!! on: February 03, 2018, 05:46:52 PM
Don't want my stash of BTC deteriorating. Can anyone help with these questions? Sad

1. What can the support community do to maintain a steady state in the price of BTC?
2. What can we expect in the coming Q2 of 2018 for BTC - should we hodl, sell or buy BTC?
3. Is it advisable to hedge to USDT? Any known consequences???

1. Hold, buy more and be positive, spread the word and fight the FUD.
2. I see a recovery coming up soon and a bright Q2 and onwards for BTC, I would advise you to hold your coins, if you're looking to buy more I would buy them now instead of when the price has increased.
3. I wouldn't, price is low and I don't see it falling much further, the upside is much greater than the downside. The only risk with USDT is that something could happen that would mean it's not honoured 1:1 with USD (such as the suspicions it's being printed without reserves being confirmed). But the main risk is that you're going to miss out on BTC's recovery.
82  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC broke bottom of triangle. Deep crash ahead. on: February 01, 2018, 05:02:07 PM
While I don't agree that there is a deep crash ahead (I think worst case scenario we might see 6-7k. I do think it is worth mentioning a misconception some may have with January being a traditionally bad month. It has been but if you look for example to last year, bitcoin fell about 40% (somewhat comparable) but it was a sharp decline over a few days and then recovered within a week to 10 days. This time round the price has been sliding for quite some weeks now. I see a recovery coming but I don't think it will be a miraculous turnaround.
83  Economy / Economics / Re: Taxes and crypto. on: February 01, 2018, 04:58:36 PM
How does everyone feel about being taxed on profits earned through crypto currencies. We all took the leap of faith and risked our money, if we had all lost our money would the IRS still be interested in taxing us. Dont think so.

How far do you think governments will go to get a piece of the action?

I don't see how earnings in crypto are any different to anything else. Your example of having lost is similar to a new business venture, they have a risk also but that doesn't mean they don't pay taxes if things work out. Arguments can be made for and against taxation but I don't think any real argument can be made as to if crypto earnings should be taxed or not.
84  Economy / Economics / Re: As long as you convert your crypto to fiat, we will never go mass adoption on: January 31, 2018, 03:44:01 PM
People! please don't look at crypto as an ez money maker, and please don't convert to fiat, I would suggest to USE it rather than spend it.
The next time you pay for something, always encourage them to accept crypto. If they refuse, then so be it, but what you're doing is the effort so that many people will hear about it, and maybe the next time someone asked them to receive payment through crypto, maybe they will change their mind and try it.

This is how your transfer the market cap from fiat to blockchain and this is how you realize true gain, your 10 coins valued at let's say 100$ can go to the moon if more people would switch to crypto.
Please please please, we want a future with just peer to peer txion, F the middle man!

You're right in saying that the push for adoption will come from the ground level upwards but at the same time right now that's not really an option. Most places won't even have a clue aside from bitcoin and right now bitcoin is not feasible to be used as a payment option due to fees and speed.
85  Economy / Economics / Re: 'the jetson' world is becoming reality. on: January 31, 2018, 03:41:38 PM
A flying car, worth more than $1 million went on display in april, Delivery is expected by 2020.

We all imagined flying cars by the predicted years on iconic movies like Back To The Future or Blade Runner, yet nothing came. The designs I've seen are pretty lame compared to the awesome futuristic cars envisioned in these movies. Im not convinced at all we'll be seeing viable flying + road cars convertibles by 2020.
You are not right. This car has long been tested. These tests were successful and I'm not surprised that it will sell. But I worry about the consequences. How to control it. Each year many people die due to road accidents. I'm even afraid to imagine what will happen when these accidents are going to happen over our heads.

In theory flying cars should reduce the level and danger of 'road' accidents. It's unclear yet how they'll work but in theory you're not limited in terms of lanes etc as cars can simply fly above one another, there also won't be the danger of distractions from pedestrians, animals etc that you'd otherwise have on the road.
86  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will 2018 be better than 2017 for bitcoin on: January 30, 2018, 05:31:22 PM
2017 has being one of the phenomenal years for the people who had stayed invested till the last. It has given some of the unexpected rise during the last couple of months in 2017. Though the start of Jan 2018 was good the market kept moving up but during the later half the market started to sin and back to 10k levels at present.

How do you predict the 2018 year to be for bitcoin. Will it rise back like 2017 and if yes than what could lead to those rise and if no than what factors could be accounted for the downfall?

I think 2018 will end up being a 'good' year for bitcoin but nowhere comparable to 2017. I see bitcoin closing at a maximum of about 50k in 2018. I hope that I am wrong in that regard but I don't see another year of 10x or more in gains.
87  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Best way to managing the passwords, private keys, opinions/best practices on: January 29, 2018, 09:56:20 AM
How can we manage the passwords/private keys in a secured and neat way. There are Exchanges passwords, ICO's, Altcoin wallets, Bitcoin wallets, Private keys and wallet file, paper wallets and the list just grows and its difficult sometimes to manage the passwords and stuffs for all these.

There are some basic guidelines which could be followed

1. Don't use the same password for all the exchanges. Dont use the same password as your email password to the exchanges.
2. Spend some time on the password you chose and make it unique everytime.
3. Dont take the backup keys as photo in your mobile. Instead write it down on a diary/notebook.
4. Always take a backup of the backupkeys to recover accounts, recover google authenticator, etc
5. Use atleast 1 USB disk exclusively and store as a backup apart from your original storage of keys/passwords.
6. Write down the keys on the paper and put in a locker. This would definitely help.

Apart from that, if there any best practices that can be followed add below and how this can be better done in a more organized way..

These are some good ideas, the most important point of it being to always keep several back ups of everything and be sensible with where you store it, as well as having unique passwords that you update regularly. For most people it won't be too difficult if they only have a few accounts/wallets to manage, the difficulty for be with the guys who have many accounts and many wallets, they'll have to have a very organised system.
88  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: GREAT CRYPTO DEPRESSION on: January 23, 2018, 09:16:39 PM
DID EVERYONE SURVIVE THE GREAT CRYPTO DEPRESSION OF JAN 2018???

January isn't even finished buddy. If we were going to enter in to a great depression it would be much longer than a month in duration. There is already a 2 year crypto bear period in the history.

90  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Kucoin - A World-class Cryptocurrency Exchange Platform on: January 12, 2018, 03:18:55 PM
Yes, Kucoin is having some nice success early on.  A lot of coins coming thru that exchange are pumping up nicely.  The interface is easy to use and so far, I have nothing negative to say about KuCoin.

It maybe sways us as investors that all coins we've had listed there have had success. At least that's my experience. I would say that the UI is nice and smooth and everything runs smoothly but I fear a slight bias within myself as said all my coins that listed there performed very well.
91  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can you sell your altcoins ? on: January 11, 2018, 08:58:41 PM
Hello everybody , I am kind of new to this world.
I have made some investments in the altcoin , I think I have some good coins wich I can trust more in my portofolio like PRL , Onions , Dubai Coin and in my opinion Potcoin also.
I also have some coins like Verge , Power Ledger , Dogecoin in wich I dont have that much trust but I really just can't sell them , I'm like afraid that they will rise good and I will regret selling them.
I have some coins on my mind wich I will also like to add to my portofolio but it seems like my only option is to deposit more fiat money and buy them also , because I really can't convince myself to sell any coin Smiley.
Do any have this problem, have this fear of selling altcoins before they rise from the buy price , I really can't give up on anything I buy If it doesnt make a huge jump to generate some profit Smiley

You need to remove these thoughts from your mindset because they are not healthy and long term will lead to you losing money, if it helps then consider it from this point of view. Do not think if they will increase further but think instead of the opportunity cost, that being the other coins that can greatly outperform them. Also you need to consider the effects of losing your investment as well as missing out on greater increases. You've got an extreme case of FOMO my friend and you need to rid yourself of it.
92  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on DOGECOIN? on: January 08, 2018, 05:55:05 PM
A totally junk coin, created just for fun the only reason why doge is being pumped because its the year of the dog many fengshui believers are buying this coin for their good fortune.

This and the fact that almost everything is pumping right now. DOGE isn't an absolutely rubbish or useless coin it's just that there are far far better alternatives that it really has no place.
93  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: safe to store about 15 altcoins on bittrex about $8k on: January 07, 2018, 06:13:46 PM
safe to store about 15 altcoins on bittrex about $8k

Well firstly it probably doesn't really matter how many coins you have or what their value is, the only real way you'll lose them is bittrex going bust (seems unlikely) or bittrex being hacked (also unlikely but far less so I would assume). Either way if they happen your coins will be gone. So to answer your question it's not 100% safe and store them in another wallet if you can but if you want to have easy access to them etc you should be okay.
94  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple will be the first after Bitcoin on: January 05, 2018, 07:35:53 PM
Coinsquare CEO: Ripple will be the first after Bitcoin

Ripple is the first in line.

Cole Dimon, chief executive officer of the crypto-exchange Coinsquare, said that Ripple would be the next crypto currency, after Bitcoin, added to the exchanger's blockbuster.

Ripple bewitches crypto

Ripple won't replace bitcoin and seems like it may be about to enter in to a pullback and bitcoin is recovering and could soon push on towards new highs. There is a lot of space between the two.
95  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sia Coin is viable investment on: January 03, 2018, 05:12:22 PM
I am plannning to buy sia   equal to 1000$, Dear members , please let me know is it viable activity? i have gone through some articles its saying that this sia is shit coin, now it already dead.

in some articles it appeared like with new updates its going to be massive.

SIA is a potential coin, that's how I like to think of it right now at least, it has the potential to one day be a highly valued coin and enjoy a pump similar to that of Verge (I mean in terms of bitcoin value).
96  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Lightning Network - not the real solution to BTC scaling problems? on: January 01, 2018, 03:29:33 PM
Hi to all,

I'm thinking about buying again into BTC (had before but sold them), but I'm kind of worried about where it's heading (high tx fees, scaling problems, etc.)
I was hoping that the Lightning Network will solve this but yet again, all kind of rumours here also.

Recently I saw this youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYHFrf5ci_g stating that Bitcoin's scaling problems were known from the beginning and the solution was simple -bigger blocks, instead Blockstream promoted Lightning Network.

Now, because of the technical limitations of the Lightning Network, Lightning Hubs will appear which will need to be regulated (KYC/AML) as they will be perceived as 3rd party settlement organizations. By the time, this Hubs will end up being run the very institutions that Bitcoin wanted to avoid - banks.

As such instead of having a fast and furious BTC, Blockstream decided to develop a business model in which they will be paid by all kind of businesses/banks needing to run Lightning Network or Lightning Network Hubs/Nodes.

Does this sound plausible to you?

Increasing the blocksize is just a stop gap, it is in fact being put in to place soon but it won't stop the problem, it will just delay it. Lightning network can be the solution for the next years and return bitcoin to its former glory.
97  Economy / Economics / Re: European Union official suggests that Bitcoin will not be regulated on: December 28, 2017, 04:17:22 PM
Regulators in Europe have tried to pressure the European Commission to put Bitcoin under a magnifying glass in one way or another. However, there are other characters that sometimes make us believe that these efforts are over, at least for now.

There will always be a push by those within government for greater regulation on bitcoin but the simple fact is that it is very difficult for them to control it. They are missing out on big tax revenue which is their biggest concern. In time I'm sure we will see them implement something in some way but it will take a while before they figure out how to do it and then even more time for it to be put in to place.
98  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think the Xmas and Holiday season, caused the drop in the price? on: December 27, 2017, 07:30:47 PM
This is what I also believe in too. Due to the holiday season, a lot of us did sell their bitcoin for personal needs and this resulted in an increase in supply in the market. I am also one of the many who did just that. But right now, we can see that it is recovering from the dip that occurred and getting its feet back up again. Let's just what it would turn out after New year.

I can't believe that this is true, it would have to be a lot of people doing the same to cause such a crash. I guess it could have triggered the crash and then weak hands who feared a crash was coming contributed more so to the downfall. As much as you can argue people are selling bitcoin to buy gifts you could argue people are buying bitcoin with gifted money or to gift to others.
99  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: sia Coin Prediction, on: December 25, 2017, 02:02:52 PM
hey  Is Siacoin a Good Investment? or what happen 2018 price 1$..?? i got 100,000 siacoin Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Probably not $1 in my opinion. That seems too much, it has competitors that are already smaller in terms of market cap. I think SIA is a bit limited in its potential as it is not a payment option like some other coins. 100,000 SIA can turn in to a nice amount. I think probably 10c is a good target.
100  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which Alts to Buy right now on: December 22, 2017, 05:14:48 PM
Definitely Ripple

Why ripple? It's the one that's probably hurt the least of the major coins, for me I don't see that as being a good thing. I get the impression that's only the case because it was on a pump beforehand. I think it will be the one now that even when the recovery begins, it will continue to fall. Ripple shot up too rapidly for me and I expect a big fall.
