226  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Paying TOP DOLLAR for BTC--$18 per BTC, WTB 20 BTC (PayPal, Dwolla, money order) on: July 06, 2011, 08:53:54 PM
Great seller!!! Sold my last 16.78 BTC to him for $302.04 via Dwolla. He sent payment immediately once the transaction reached the 9th confirmation.

Thanks!!! Will do business again (assuming I can even get 20 more coins at this difficulty :/)

What AMD says is BS, switch it out with some IC7 anyways

Also have you measured the exhaust temps
229  Economy / Marketplace / Re: We need a PayPal-like Bitcoin service on: July 06, 2011, 03:08:16 AM
Anonymity is good, but not everyone *needs* it for certain things. I could care less if someone knows who I am while purchasing legal items/services. If I want to buy anonymously, there's other ways.

Either way, it can't hurt bitcoin to create (another?) service like this.

If I'm making a P2P currency exchange, I would like to be sure the person I'm sending stuff to is indeed the person I am trading with.
Thus comes the need to identify both parties.

Some misinformation here...

Furmark is the one thing that will push your card the hardest. Nothing will use more resources than Xtreme Burn-in mode in Furmark. Period.

If Pheonix yields higher temperatures you probably did not have Burn-in selected during your Furmark run.

That's not how Crossfire multi-GPU rendering works--each card works in an alternate pattern meaning GPU1 does the first portion of the work and GPU2 does the second portion, and it repeats.

What's your fan speed?

And what is the exact model of your card? Reference or non-reference?

What case? Or open case environment?

Have you tried reseating the heatsink with a fresh TIM application? (Preferrably Shin-etsu, IC Diamond, or anything of the likes)

Edit:
What's your vcore?

And to the above poster: 99c is definitely NOT safe. Yes, your GPU will not die at that temperature, but running them at that temperature for such a prolonged time will definitely shorten the lifespan of your GPU or damage its components. While you're at it check VRM temps too to make sure you're not frying those as well. My GPU cores mining are about 45c (two 5850s)

Also, do this for me will you:
Measure the temperature of the air coming out of the card from the back. In celsius.

I'm a computer hardware enthusiast and I have been way before the whole mining hype began, I would know.
231  Economy / Marketplace / We need a PayPal-like Bitcoin service on: July 05, 2011, 08:54:36 PM
I was thinking about this:
A simple online service that provides the protection of PayPal, but for Bitcoin transactions. This would allow sellers/buyers to identify themselves and would potentially remove the mutual trust issue (since Bitcoin is anonymous in the first place).

Imagine if every user had a user ID, and every transaction was associated with a transaction ID. If someone wants to sell BTC to someone else without the risk of getting scammed, he could send x BTC to that user ID, where it would go to a dedicated BTC address where the funds would go through the Bitcoin-PayPal service. Then, the buyer could send the USD to the same service to the transaction ID so that all the funds are stored in the service. Then both the BTC and USD could be released instantly and simultaneously, thus removing the mutual trust issue and at the same time preventing transaction reversing.

The protection is there because if USD is not sent to the transaction ID within, say, 24 hours, the BTC would automatically get refunded to the sender.

Thoughts?

233  Economy / Economics / Re: What can we expect the price to decline/raise to? on: July 05, 2011, 04:17:15 AM
I don't remember who nor can I find the thread

I'm not making any predictions..
234  Economy / Economics / Re: Why bitcoins are dropping, and will continue to do so on: July 05, 2011, 01:08:29 AM
^Yes, that is what BTC is for. Mine it, sell it, profit REAL money and not virtual worthless currency.

*Now, all the hardcore BTC economists are going to come in and tell me about fiat currency and how bitcoins are better, amongst other things that in the end no one cares about*
235  Economy / Economics / What can we expect the price to decline/raise to? on: July 05, 2011, 01:05:52 AM
Looking at the current pattern, things don't seem too good, especially at the current difficulty level :/

Looks like it will be around $10 or less by the end of this week.

I remember reading a thread where a professional stock investor theorized about what would happen to the BTC economy--so far, every single point he made was correct. He also predicted that the price would drop to $5, which scares me. I have a feeling he is right.
