401  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [Mining Pool] SIMPLECOIN.US (0% fee, Instant Pay, LP, JSON, Opensource!) on: June 08, 2011, 02:53:30 AM
Am I the only one having connection problems?

Edit: nevermind.

Bump
403  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [Mining Pool] SIMPLECOIN.US (0% fee, Instant Pay, LP, JSON, Opensource!) on: June 08, 2011, 01:35:50 AM
Has it matured yet?
404  Bitcoin / Mining / One of my GPUs has the lowest hash rate yet always accepts shares the fastest? on: June 08, 2011, 01:34:06 AM
GPU2 always has a lower hash rate than my other two GPUs (I know in this photo it's pretty close, but normally GPU2 hangs around 340 MH/s and my other two are normally 350 MH/s and above) yet my second GPU always has the most shares accepted. Anyone know what could be the cause?

A tip for those who want text message notifications:

Use your phone number's email address as the notification email address.

I.e., I am on AT&T USA so my email would be xxxxxxxxxx@txt.att.net

I'm quite surprised no one has brought this up, I've seen multiple threads where people are asking for SMS notifications.
407  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Who said 58xx were sold out? on: June 08, 2011, 12:23:22 AM
Picked up two 5850s somewhere else for $150 shipped each Smiley

My first 5850 I bought in October 2010, way before the whole mining hype begun. It was $280 back then, sigh. But then again it was the third fastest ATI card on the market.
408  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [Mining Pool] SIMPLECOIN.US (0% fee, Instant Pay, LP, JSON, Opensource!) on: June 08, 2011, 12:09:53 AM
I don't think the hashrates are working correctly. Mine keeps going up to 100 Mhashes/s and then back down to 42 - 64, yet I'm keeping a steady 83 Mhashes/s?

The hash rate is calculated based on how many shares you are sending in relative to others. The actual hash rate is estimated.
409  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [Mining Pool] SIMPLECOIN.US (0% fee, Instant Pay, LP, JSON, Opensource!) on: June 07, 2011, 10:02:42 PM
so when will the round count reset?

If the current solved block matures and is not invalid, then the new round has already begun.

All this panic is amusing to me. I'd rather see what attacks can be accomplished and how the community can recover from a successful attack. That way, when people ask "what happens if..." we can say "it did happen and we survived it". Of course, some people are a little over-invested and don't find it amusing at all.

This!!

Honestly, people need to stop freaking out.

The size of "Other" shrunk pretty significantly. 3 days ago it was some 35%.

Ok, cool.  At 6 PM PT today #88 is going back to SimpleCoin with 1 GH/s now that a cheat-proof earning system has been implemented.
413  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [Mining Pool] SIMPLECOIN.US (0% fee, Instant Pay, LP, JSON, Opensource!) on: June 07, 2011, 09:31:17 PM
First block found?

Why is there nothing under "balance"?
414  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: [Poll] Simplecoin.us throw the switch on cheat-proof scoring now or wait on: June 07, 2011, 06:39:15 PM
Since you've gotten the earnings calculations sorted out, I will rejoin your pool once you find your first block. That way I can get "fresh" statistics in a new round.
415  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: [Poll] Simplecoin.us throw the switch on cheat-proof scoring now or wait on: June 07, 2011, 05:19:06 PM
Does this "cheat-proof" scoring prevent my earnings from decreasing?
416  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Why does Deepbit never report a correct MH/s rate? on: June 07, 2011, 04:48:20 PM
The thing is Deepbit pays out proportionally by the hash rate. So if my hash rate gets reported 500 MH/s below my real hash rate of 1 GH/s, then I'll only receive a proportional payout equal to someone hashing at 500MH/s.
417  Bitcoin / Mining / Why does Deepbit never report a correct MH/s rate? on: June 07, 2011, 04:24:39 PM
I have three GPUs going at 350 MH/s each, totaling 1050 MH/s. Deepbit always reports a MH/s lower than 1050 MH/s. In fact, it's always between 800 MH/s - 950 MH/s. If Deepbit isn't even recognizing my increased hashing power I might as well get rid of my third GPU.
418  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Deepbit Approaching 50% Once Again on: June 07, 2011, 04:21:17 PM
Nothing is going to happen once it reaches 50%.
And once it reaches that point we will all see.

Perhaps nothing will happen the first day. But IT IS A security RISK and that's a fact.

You could play to try shooting yourself with one revolver and one bullet. And maybe the first time you won't die, but that doesn't mean it's not a risk.

It does need to be pointed out that the magical threshold is not 50%+1. It is theoretically possible for an adversary corrupting 30% or 40% of the computation to eventually succeed trick the rest of the network into forking the block chain within several hours to days according to a study performed by a group of MIT students for the 6.857 Computer and Network Security class. I don't have their graphs/slides, but I can ask them for their data (and suspect they already haunt these forums).

That means it already is a security risk.

Oh, wow! A security risk!

I swear, some people.
419  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Deepbit Approaching 50% Once Again on: June 07, 2011, 03:41:49 PM
I'd like to see deepbit take over more than half, so that people will stop complaining once they realize that Tycho is not going to do anything evil.

Sigh, people need to stop freaking out.

And...I'd like to see a giant comet hit your house, then see if you complain, or exist.

It's not about Tycho and his intentions...its about the fundamentals plain and simple.

Man...moment...machine. Let's hope some intervention happens...

Nothing is going to happen once it reaches 50%.
And once it reaches that point we will all see.
420  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [~2300 Gh/s Mining Pool] HTTPS,API, instant payouts,LP,+1% for NO INVALID BLOCKS on: June 07, 2011, 03:35:29 PM
Are we having bad luck today?
Only getting about 70% of my projected 24 hour earnings.
