confirm wallet crashed as it said "received new payment" and I was happy. But in the end I didn't receive my coins.  Huh

You mined an orphan block. There were tons of them when the wallet crashed.
342  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: HPPCOIN : Egalitarian High Performances Computing Platform on: November 24, 2017, 05:42:55 PM
Blocks increased height so fast because the botnet went down and difficulty dropped to about .0001 for a few minutes. I watched the blocks increase about one every second and ended up mining 10 blocks in 5 minutes. The network hashrate is still about 10% what it was an hour ago.

My wallet was crashed. And may be other have crashed wallet. Now you must restart it, and go mining!

Mine crashed too after I mined like 100 orphan blocks.

Running make on Ubuntu 17.10 64bit fails with a qt error, don't remember which Undecided.

Make runs fine after you run " ./configure --without-gui " instead of "./configure"

When I run ./hppcoind I do not get any output.

Post plz the error, if you can repeat it  Wink
I had problems too, but only with libs.

I deleted the non gui install and reran ./configure then make.

Very end of make's output:

guys does not work setgenerate, error code-1 json (JSON value is not a boolean as expected (code -1) ), can you help me?

have you tried

"setgenerate true 4"

(= 4 cores ) (-1 means use all cores) - I tend to use about 75% of my cores, or PC dies. So i allocate 4 cores on my 6 core PC. If you have say a 4 core Intel, with hyperthreading, i think you would select 6 ( 6 of 8 threads) If it works, experiment with the thread count till you get what you want.

J

how can i see my hasrate?

You can't, for some reason the hashrate is not shown.
347  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: HPPCOIN : Egalitarian High Performances Computing Platform on: November 23, 2017, 01:33:17 AM
Hi,

Ok, 6 cores flatout for 4 hours and nothing....

I'm assuming that since when i type "setgenerate true -1" into the console, and it doesn't even show me my hashes, nor does the network hash increase that i am doing something wrong?
I also assume that since the wallet reports over 800 KH/s already that you will be resetting the blockchain and starting again with a "FAIR" launch when you have ironed out these problems.

Would it not make more sense to start us off on a "testnet" for 24 hours first so you can find and fix the issues?
I can only see the current situation getting worse when you release a gpu miner

Disappointing...

There's nothing wrong with the mining. I mined from launch, it was at like block 5 by the time I got there, and I was a few mins late. I don't have a lot of power so I got a few blocks early, but nothing in the last few hours.  There's nothing unfair about that.  More processing = more profit for a PoW coin. Don't ask for a restart just because you were late, ask for one if you see something genuinely unfair.

I've been mining years, ans seen many launches, and this feels unfair.
The fact that you can't even see your own hash rate, the fact that there isnt even a "mining" option on the wallet, where you can easily select number of cores rules out most newbies, plus i genuinely believe that some one in the background already has a "private pool" with massive hash, or a gpu miner, which again only a few hours after launch would be bordering on unfair.
If a guy with 32 threads isnt even getting 1 block in 24 hours, then there is something not right....missing the launch by "a few mins" should not make or break a mining experience.
As for roll backs etc, look at Electroneum, BitcoinZ other recent launches, most of them have been rolled back, and have had massive starting issues.

Anyway, if a block can't be mined on a 6/8 core pc withing 24 hours, so soon after launch i suspect it won't get any miner other than the massive farms, so it will more than likely end up just another pump and dump...
Next few hours are critical to coins success, i look forward to waking up tomorrow to see what progress has been made. I mean we haven't even got a block explorer yet, so lets not get too carried away Smiley
J

It would be nice to be able to see the hashrate to try and optimize it. But I have mined 21 blocks so far with only 8 cores so either I'm very lucky or others are very unlucky. Even now I'm still getting a block every ~3 hours.
348  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: HPPCOIN : Egalitarian High Performances Computing Platform on: November 22, 2017, 07:43:55 PM
I got it to compile but when I run ./hppcoind I don't get any terminal output, the terminal just hangs.  I assume that means its working, but I'm used to ones where I can set getinfo or similar commands.  It doesn't matter, the difficulty is so high I don't really want to throw my VMs at it anyways, I'll have one windows machine on it and that's it until I'm able to test my GPU miner.  Thanks!

Yeah, I think I'm done mining this, difficulty has exploded too high now. Either the devs are mining with huge resources or someone has a large botnet on it. Oh well, it was fun for a while. At least I can say that I mined the first block of this coin if it ever gets really popular Grin

Is it hard to make a pool?  Can anyone do it so I can test a miner real quick?  If it works I'll share it, if not, no harm done.  Note that I can't really lie and not share it if it works, because I have no idea how to make a pool so I wouldn't be able to keep it to myself because I wouldn't be able to use it (the client has no get_work so I can't solo GPU mine if it works).

I don't have the hardware to serve a pool, but perhaps someone can modify this one: https://github.com/wareck/node-stratum-pool

It was forked from the original to add Lyra2RE support. Based on the source it seems like Lyra2H is only a slight change from this.

Can anyone explain what I do with a .deb package on ubuntu?  I can install it with

sudo dpkg -i hppcoin_0.1.0-1_amd64.deb

or

sudo gdebi hppcoin_0.1.0-1_amd64.deb

If I do that, it tells me

Code:
Unpacking hpccoinv2 (0.1.0-1) over (0.1.0-1) ...
Setting up hpccoinv2 (0.1.0-1) ...

But after that I, I have no idea where the binary is to run it.

You can just double click to run it. Binaries should be in /usr/local/bin

Double-click... In terminal... You made my day.

I meant to just double click the .deb file, obviously.

In terminal? do you know anything about operating systems without a graphical interface? There is a black window with white letters, called the terminal. you can use your keyboard there, not "double click"  Grin

Are you purposely trying to troll me? I'm responding to someone who said they were using UBUNTU, last time I checked it had a graphical interface. I've been using Linux distros for 2 decades now, I'm pretty sure I know how they work.

Sorry, I forgot that there is a ubuntu desktop with GUI.  Grin
After many years of work in the terminal ...

Don't worry, I also apologize for my response. Good day to you.

I’ve been mining using 2 cores on my i7-7500u for about 30 minutes now, and watched the nethash rise during that time, but have received 0 rewards so far. Anyone received a reward yet?

I've gotten 1260 so far.

How odd. What are you mining with? No idea why I haven’t got a single reward yet.

An i3, i5, and Ryzen 7. No idea what my hashrate is since it doesn't seem to show in the mining info.

Edit: network hashrate has exploded to 500,000. I only got so much because I started right at the beginning, I'm pretty sure I actually mined the first block.

Hey everyone,

If you haven't said what processor you are using and what hashrate you are getting (and how many threads you are using if you know that), please take the time to do that.  I am going to now start compiling all the data on this thread and put it in a spreadsheet and see if I can write an equation that predicts hashrate based on processor speed, cores, and cache size.  I will open source this data and equation and also what processors I think would be the most power efficient to mine this.

Ryzen 7 1700 (O/C'd to 3700) (optimum 8 threads of 16) (L3 cache 16 MB) - Minerd: 1100 h/s, Cpuminer: 960 h/s, Wallet: 1200 h/s

i5 3230M (stock) (optimum 2 threads of 4) (L3 cache 3 MB) - Minerd: 240 h/s, Cpuminer: 200 h/s, Wallet 260 h/s

i3 3110M (stock) (optimum 2 threads of 4) (L3 cache 3 MB) - Minerd 210 h/s, Cpuminer 180 h/s, Wallet 230 h/s

Let me know if you need any other data.

So guys what happened with the "Dev" team?

The dev doesn't really communicate here except to update the ANN with new information, but he does post occasionally and has recently updated the core to 1.2.1.

Looking at the website, it seems you are offering a very similar product as Golem. What is different about your platform that will make it superior to other existing distributed computing platforms such as Golem and BOINC?

Is LYRA2H a new hashing algorithm? I don't remember seeing it before.

anybody has a lot of "stratum link failure" from pool?

Yes, I tried the pools for a bit then went back to solo mining due to constant errors. I like leaving it up to luck more anyway plus it supports the network.
