101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Marijuana coins in 2018 on: January 10, 2018, 10:24:58 PM
There is one guy - George. YT: CruproR-US.
Said he likes marija coin industry and besides Hemp, Dope, Pot, and Cannabis there is one more very promising coin.
It is super low market cap and price. And quote: "has their shit together, they are making their partnerships already, doing all the right things and yet no one has paid attention to them"
They came out in 2017. Might be Growers Intl? He said he will disclose it later.
That definitely sounds like Growers International. None of the other marijuana coins that came out in 2017 have been very active at all while GRWI is making new partnerships and advancements. Also has a very low market cap (currently ~$4 mil) and a super low supply (just over 1.1 mil) that make it pretty attractive.
102  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ARO] Arionum - Decentralized Revolution on: January 10, 2018, 05:54:46 PM
The windows wallet along with the miner and a pool will be launched this week.
Glad to hear it, my CPUs have felt awfully left out from all the mining fun for a little while now Smiley

I've actually had a couple dreams that we got paid in the middle of the night Cheesy Then I have a good chuckle at myself when I wake up and remember that we're never getting paid.
104  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [UFO] UNIFORM FISCAL OBJECT | CORE 0.11 RELEASED! | UPGRADE WALLETS! on: January 08, 2018, 10:55:58 PM
Very cool to see a coin from 2014 still getting a lot of love from the original devs! I think I may hop in and start mining before the hard fork
105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ARO] Arionum - Decentralized Revolution on: January 08, 2018, 06:03:54 PM
Definitely interested in a new coin that can only be mined on CPU. Looking forward to joining a pool once everything is released for Windows!

Different marijuana coins have different ties (or no ties at all) to the booming industry in America and around the globe. I've put together a list that outlines some of the differences between 15 coins with marijuana themes: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2658296.msg27095799#msg27095799

Hope y'all find it helpful! Grin

Great work putting this topic together OP, you've clearly put a lot of work into this and the information presented is very useful to have in one place.
Thanks for the kind words, I was a bit worried this list was just going to immediately fall into obscurity so I'm glad someone appreciates it! Grin

Regardless of attention though I do plan to keep updating on a weekly basis. I find it fun and very helpful for my own investment choices.

Weekly Update

Top 5 changes: CANN moves +1 to #3, DOPE moves -1 to #4

Development changes: CCN downgraded from Potentially Active to Not Active after dev didn't follow through with a proposed January 1st update.

The days leading up to the new year were very eventful for marijuana coins. Multiple coins were frequently top gainers on Bittrex and other major exchanges. Less than a week in to 2018 there are gainers and losers in the top 5. THC, CANN, and TKS have all leveled out higher than where they were last Friday. POT and DOPE both suffered a slight decline. Of course this is just after the initial rush, it will be interesting to see what happens once California starts reporting revenue and various projects continue to develop.

Also I've added the total market cap for all 15 coins listed here. Interestingly, a single coin with that market cap would currently be at #104 overall on CoinMarketCap (below Enjin Coin, above Triggers).
109  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: SpankChain - First adult coin backed up by pornstars on: January 04, 2018, 06:19:43 PM
Maybe if you buy enough you can cash it in for a private session with a pornstar of your choosing?  Roll Eyes

Though to be fair the porn industry can have a pretty strong influence over technological adoption, so hopefully this will be good for crypto in general.
110  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: If #Ripple becomes number 1, then???? on: January 04, 2018, 06:13:40 PM
My friend asked me to invest in XRP for him a couple weeks ago and I did it for him with a word of caution... and now his investment is growing faster than mine  Roll Eyes

I guess I just don't see the appeal of Ripple other than the FOMO. There's no official wallet so you're always trusting some third party with your XRP, the supply can be increased by up to 60 billion (or more if they decide to go above their initial 1 trillion limit) at any time, it is completely controlled by one corporation and not decentralized so it could disappear instantly, it's not spendable so the only reason people are buying it is to get more BTC... the list just goes on and on.
111  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Comparison of Marijuana-themed Coins on: January 03, 2018, 03:59:43 PM
To be honest I hate this trend and I think that such kind of projects cast a shadow over the whole crypto market so I just cant support any of them.
I'd be interested to hear why you feel that way. Is it because of how you feel about marijuana itself, or do you just see these coins as redundant since there might be better options out there?
112  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Comparison of Marijuana-themed Coins on: January 03, 2018, 12:21:19 PM
Grabbing a few of each
Glad to see a bit of interest in these coins but the purpose of the list is to show that not all of them are worth picking up Wink A few of them have actual ties to the industry that should allow them to grow, while others are only related in name. Unfortunately it seems like most investors don't look further than the name so a couple non-active coins with no real connections to the industry have been pumped a few times.
113  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ✅|ANN| 🌍DESIRE |NeoScrypt| |🔨MasterNodes🔨| - COIN OF YOUR DREAMS! on: January 03, 2018, 03:25:10 AM
Today I spend a whole day digging a video card 1060 on a pool  http://blockeater.shardkeeper.com/  Embarrassedand still have not received anything, the complexity has greatly increased or is it time to change the pool?  Undecided
Notice how that pool's TTF is 2 weeks. Their hash rate is only ~380 kh/s out of the network rate of 2.8 Gh/s, so it's unlikely you'll ever get a good payout from that pool.

From the new telegram group. As they removed the old ones.

Our ICO is live!   Over $2,000,000 raised so far. Join us!
Well, and where is our money for the second week?
Pretty clear that this is just another ICO scam. I guess the "Blockchain-Powered Fundraising" was just for them Cheesy
115  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [ICO] FreelancerCoin [LAN] A blockchain freelancing platform on: January 01, 2018, 03:41:39 AM
It will be interesting to see what kind of clients will use your platform, seeing as there are others available in the freelancing market. I do like the overall look of the project though.
116  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][TZC] TrezarCoin Super-Secure-PoW/PoS on: January 01, 2018, 03:37:15 AM
Been mining this on altminer on two rigs for about 12 hours and still haven't  got my first payment. A little worried because it usually only takes a few hours. Is there a delay with this coin being paid out? If it is not working I am missing out on guaranteed profit elsewhere .

I have submitted about 8000 shares successfully
I haven't had any problems getting payments since I started mining it 4 days ago (altminer dedicated port with two rigs as well). Don't recall if there was an initial delay or not, but I'm pretty sure I was receiving payments within a couple hours of starting.

If I want to buy weed, I will just use LTC or Monero. Why the hell I will exchange to special coin??
A couple of them have/intend to have special relationships with dispensaries that would give you bonuses for using their coin. Though the point of my list is to compare coins that are clearly meant to appeal to potheads; I'm definitely not saying any of them are better than other privacy-focused coins.
119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Marijuana coins in 2018 on: December 28, 2017, 01:52:32 PM
Let me ask the obvious question here -- why in God's name do you need a cryptocurrency to pay for marijuana, when it's legal? Why not just pay for it with fiat? You'd think the essence of marijuana cryptos would be to keep transactions under the radar. What is the point of a "weed" coin once it's legal?

Is it just so the pot heads can feel like they have some grip on, or portion of the crypto community? You can toke up, play video games, eat cheetos, and proclaim your blockchain prowess!  Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

I don't get it.
I think one important thing to note is that even though marijuana may have been legalized by the state, it is still illegal on the federal level (at least in the US). There are plenty of web-based businesses in the marijuana industry that can't necessarily work with cash, and the hazy state of legality may put a number of people off from using credit/debit so cryptocurrency fills that gap nicely. So while it may not be completely necessary, I think it's a good layer of security for something that's still possibly very risky.

Also, a few of the weed coins are setting up platforms for marijuana businesses that get shunned by more "mainstream" platforms. They can't advertise with Google or Facebook, so DopeCoin's Smoke Exchange could be a great option for them.
120  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Marijuana coins in 2018 on: December 28, 2017, 12:58:12 PM
Which marijuana-related coin(s) do you think will take off as more legalizations kick in next year? I put together a list of the ones I could find on CoinMarketCap and compared their ties to the industry that could make them more successful: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2658296.0

It would be pretty easy to go with the current top 5, but maybe there's a sleeper or two in the mix?
