Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What can you do to keep your digital assets safe?

Cryptocurrency thefts are on the rise. There are now over 1,500 different types of cryptocurrencies, 22 million wallets for storing them, and thousands of exchanges to trade them on. This rise in numbers over a short period since Bitcoin introduction in 2008 turned a multitude of crypto users and traders into millionaires in the process. And although the lucrative investment has increased the pocket size of many, it also brought in those who want to take advantage of it. Within the first nine months of 2018 alone, cryptocurrency theft has led to the loss of nearly a billion dollars, a 250 percent rise from a previous year. Whether it is through the hacking of exchanges, such as the $500 million Coincheck hack, or the theft of a few dollars from a wallet, cryptocurrency thieves are finding new means of taking your cryptocurrencies. Phishing, brute forcing and phone-porting are just a few of the methods used by crypto thieves to steal your cryptoassets, but there are ways to prevent them. How hackers can steal your cryptoassets PhishingPhishing has been around for quite some time, and it is no longer only utilized by princes of foreign lands requiring your credit card information. The technique has been expanded for cryptocurrency theft, too. Hackers send emails to various cryptocurrency owners, and when opened, infect computers with malicious malware, at times even holding a victim’s computer hostage until a cryptocurrency ransom is paid. Brute forcingBrute forcing relies on hacking programs, often purchased through the dark web, which use a trial and error approach to gain users’ passwords. If the program doesn’t pick up your password on the fifth try maybe it’ll get it on a try five thousand. All that matters is that once the program achieves what it was built for, you can say goodbye to your cryptocurrencies. Phone-portingPhone-porting occurs when a hacker uses a victim’s telephone number to take over his/her mobile account. Then hacker accesses the victim’s exchange account by resetting the password with the telephone number and then steals cryptocurrency from the account. For me personally, I always tried to keep my wallet and private key that hold my assets safe. Also i always double check on the sites that i am using to access my assets, making sure its the real place before i enter any private information about my assets.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to avoid ICO scam.

I believe there is no specific rules about avoiding scam, what we can do is filter those scam project manually and carefully. But that doesn't guaranty that we will be able to fully avoid on getting scammed. That step will just reduce the possibilities of being scammed.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to avoid Dump after listing
|
on: January 19, 2019, 03:25:33 AM

At the time of the listing after the end of ICO, the price often dumps. Why does it happen? I think the reason is there is no buyer because of no demand for tokens since the ecosystem is not completed after the ICO. It may be difficult because lack of funds, but I think the team should release a product like Dapps while running ICO to make token demand. How do you think about it?
I think there is a trick to at least reduce the potential of dumping coins after listing. That is limiting the amount of coins that can be sold each time the token holder wish to sell them.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A good way to avoid scam ICO projects
|
on: January 19, 2019, 03:24:13 AM

The ICO project is currently far more than income for a moment. Try to make the most profit possible, until the ICO deadline is over, and then make a big sale. ICO projects are indeed potentially high enough to be used for fraud, fraud which is detrimental to investors. Especially if previously the ICO project did not require any legality. Before investing in an ICO project must pay attention to several factors:
1. Must know detail Concept of the ICO project A good ICO project must have a good concept.
2. See market segmentation How much market potential is related to project segmentation and of course must have new innovations
3. Long-term orientation One thing that can make it easier for you to judge, is to look at the real objects offered from the project
4. Team Who are the people who work behind the project
Is there another way to avoid scam ICO projects, your input is highly expected
Thank You
What you are mention is correct, i mostly done those things before i join into a project, better it's the ICO or the bounty campaign. Since both are depends on the quality of the project itself.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto is not a get rich quick scheme
|

I don't know if I am the only one that is not worried about the market and feel it is doing fine? I see different posts about people saying different things like "it is the end", "crypto is dead", "I lost it all, it is time to get out" blah blah blah and I get pissed off. Most people don't do a proper research before FOMO into crypto and confuse it for a get rich quick scheme. I definitely know the bull run will come but I am not expecting it soon. We just saw a massive bull run about 13 months ago and I think it is too early too see another, because there needs to be room for market correction, which is presently happening. Last year the price of Btc increased by about 1000% and has only reduced by about 600% which means there is still room for more correction. So do away with the fantasy that bull run will occur every year to get you rich and face the reality. It is only the weak hands that are complaining while the wise are taking advantage of the market to get good altcoins at cheap prices. What is you thought? Perhaps i should be agree with you, cause in a cryptocurrency market is just the same when we make a real business in the real world. It will need a lot of process towards success, we can't just simply join and tomorrow we will get success.

I think i'm not so agree with what your idea to stop hodling coins. I believe to hodl or not is the right of everyone. When someone already believe that hodling is a good decision cause they believe that it will be a good things in the future, then that would be really fine.

Just like what has happened before that the crypto market is keep going up and down from time to time, and usually it can find it's way to get back up again after some down fall. Just like what happen in 2018 where most of the crypto coins were falling so much. Then there should be time when it will goes up again someday.

I had ever meet something or project that saying that if they join them, there is a possibilities that they could create their own personal coins for themself without having to struggle with the code or something like that. I believe that is one of many reason why there is so much coins available.

Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Safe Bounty hunters

I hope Bitcointalk will start caring about its people ,there should be new moderators that can fish out bad projects on here to avoid wasting time of bounty hunters ,and about KYC ive come to think of it as many bounty hunters don't like KYC I'm sure if Bitcointalk is the one asking for KYC so as to limit frauds and multiple accounts bounty hunters won't complain, we will follow the rules ,but first 'SAFE US FROM BAD SCAMMY PROJECTS' ,no matter how wise we investigate a project they end up been scam ,scammers are getting wiser as well.looook at desico for example Can anyone tell me if he/she knew Desico is a scam from day one? I guess not What you thinking is good, but i think that is not the job of a moderator to select a good project for us. We have to be extra careful our self when selecting a project so we could avoid to get scammed.

Today is a very sad day for me ... just when I was thinking the crypto space is on its way to its formal glory ... here we are again... the market is red and over 15 percent down...
How do we free crypto from the hands of whales.. manipulating the market??
I think we can't remove all those wales as long as they still believe that crypto market is a good place for their investment. Cause with a huge amount of fund, the market will be totally manipulable.

I think bull run is not about the year, it can happen anytime since there is no centralized organization that control the cryptocurrency. That way, we just have to wait patiently while we gain as much info as possible, cause a little info is so much crucial for cryptocurrency.

Hey guys according to technical analysis cryptomarket has a great potential to go up soon. Bitcoin can still fall to 2200$, however I think it won’t happen. And with launch of Bakkt, crypto is going to rock! Do you agree?
Well for me, i can't just blindly believe on technical analysis, cause predicting a cryptocurrency is hard to do, so i will just believe in my own intuition, and as we can see now, the price hit the level of $4000+. so there will still chance it goes up high again someday.

Guys, it have come to my notice that some criminal minded guys are busy creating tokens and using it to defraud people, example of those tokens are *ripple classic, stellar classic, eos classic*, becareful guys and don't fall victim to their sweet mouth, they are busy listing them in almost exchanges and using that to brainwash guy.... Becareful and guard ur money like ur whole life depends on it
I usually done some research when ever i wish to join into a project. I will always tried to carefully inspect the project that i wish. After making sure that everything is good, then i will join that project, but if there is something suspicious about it, i'll be leaving it.
