Any idea what could be crowdfunded next?  Roll Eyes

Mandatory use of p2pool. Darkcoin is not currently a decentralised currency, neither are most PoW coins.

Pin number or passphrase required before the wallet displays your balance and transaction history to any passing vagabond.

I like that idea. here was my proposal back in April, didnt get much attention though... trolljaxs can choke on this.

https://darkcointalk.org/threads/masternode-donation-to-p2pool.326/

I'm not against the idea of incentivising p2pool use financially somehow, it would help, but making it mandatory somehow at a protocol level would be better.

Existing centralised pool owners could run p2pool nodes instead, use the same hardware, make the same percentage, just run different software that actually helped secure the blockchain instead of doing the opposite.

Not sure if it should be mandatory to use p2pool, more a case of educating the masses. I have only ever used p2pool with my crypto mining, if the coin isn't p2pool friendly, I won't mine it. Unfortunately, p2pool has outgrown python & it's crying out to be written in a faster, multithreaded code (C/++?) - the p2pool dev hasn't done much to it for the last year tbh - but hopefully it will just be a matter of time before someone has the time/incentive to do it.

Truly decentralized mining is imperative for a truly decentralised currency - p2pool is the only software that can achieve this - they are, literally, made for each other..... Grin Wink
262  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [BitAffNet] How we're the #1 Bitcoin Mining Pool In The World (proof inside) on: November 18, 2014, 05:36:02 PM

Indeed, the payouts (if you can find them clearly in the blockchain) would probably show what % of the pool is not owned by the pool ... if it is all as transparent as it is claimed to be.

The accounts not receiving the 10% would be the accounts owned by the pool since the 10% extra is quite bigger drain on a pool wallet than I gather most realise.

That ~37.5 BTC bonus the pool found would be used up in 15 blocks of 10% bonus payments to all miners.
Yes that very lucky 4 block streak would have to happen once every 15 blocks for the pool to continue paying out a full 10% to every account, using the BTC the pool mines.

So while the hourly PPS payouts keep happening with the bonus 10%, you are indeed ahead of any other PPS pool charging a fee to cover the high risk to the pool for using PPS.

BOTTOM LINE here, BaN is the best pool to mine in at the moment. most consistant on payouts, most reliable customer service, userfriendly interface and stats for plenty of comparisons on the dashboard. this you can not deny. Smiley

I can deny it, and I will.

BAN is run by a proven scammer, admin is a proven liar, it has a multitude of fake accounts associated with it, is full of sock puppets like yourself who constantly preach the "we earn more than anyone" baloney while Mr Transparency s0br stays quiet as usual. Your carefully rehearsed duet with aurel57 above was as corny as they come & demonstrates how the whole BAN set up is and always has been a huge scam from beginning to end. The more rubbish you post, the more you argue with other pool & software devs & the more you insult & slam other pools - the more lame & pathetic you make BAN, s0br, ThePhwner & all the other sockpuppets/aliases/shills look. It's boring reading the same rubbish from you over & over again - it's almost as if you are trying to convince yourself it's true. The sooner s0br does the same to this thread as he did to his last abomination & locks it, the sooner the mining community can get back to some normal mining discussion instead of the constant BAN shill drivel polluting the mining thread.

Cease & desist for crying out loud......  Roll Eyes

Payment shows up on my wallet UI, no problem.

We are talking about the P2Pool nodes.

Doh!  Cheesy

Sorry, still waiting for the coffee to kick in...... Wink

0% fees and PPLNS earnings. (The tx fee is not paid out to miners for maintaining cost and the bonus for our engineers.)

This is not possible on the existing p2pool share chain. Every p2pool node would have to upgrade(?) to bitmains version.

Even if it was possible - it's not a 0% fee if they take the Tx fees...... Roll Eyes

But like you say, it's just not possible. They seem to want to be going into direct competition with p2pool instead of promoting it. How will their version be able to work with p2pool like they say if it's using a different share chain? It can't.

"The biggest issue with BAN is that they are hiding where the extra 10% is coming from.
Why do people hide things unless they don't want people to know it."

Disclaimer:  (I really have no knowledge if the pool is profitable or not).

Yes you do, because they "claim" to pay you 10% extra - that means they are making a loss on every block they payout on.....

Think about it.
268  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool: Pushing forward Decentralization on: November 14, 2014, 04:50:30 PM
How do you cover your costs having in mind it is 0% fee pool?

Transaction fees will cover some costs......

Wrong again, & again, & again........ Roll Eyes

You don't have a clue what you are talking about dogie. Stop posting on this thread - go away.

What?!  Is he for real?  Cheesy Cheesy

Wrong again dogie, wrong again........ Roll Eyes

So I'm an official shill in his book now am I? Cool.

271  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool: Pushing forward Decentralization on: November 13, 2014, 04:19:57 AM
Oh dear. This isn't good:

As to p2p mining, Antpool collects all subscribed miners to its servers, and then contributes to the already exist p2p network (p2pool.info).

Why would you mention a broken/inaccurate website for reference?

And who are you? What's with all the new accounts suddenly popping up claiming to be Bitmain employees?

@ Bitmain: Please verify these users as your employees.

EDIT: Yo jonnyB, you beat me to it...... Cheesy

I concur......

BITMAIN Customer Service Team

What? Who are you with zero posts?

@ Bitmain: Can you confirm this member & clarify the questions asked please?

Thanks.

Sorry xlc1985, but until Bitmain confirms your identity, nobody will take much notice of you.....
273  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool: Pushing forward Decentralization on: November 12, 2014, 02:54:48 PM
I'm willing to give Bitmain the benefit of doubt ATM, but I too would like to see some clarity on the situation, as others have asked previously.

And please Bitmain, can we keep this thread free of dogie poop?

I was quite interested in these, but the lack of responses to the many questions asked here about not just the specs, but the units being delayed, shipping times & frustrated customers who have paid & get no responses to emails etc is quite off putting & disturbing. Seems like the usual pre-order nonsense to me.

I think I'll pass until some solid answers are given & units are being delivered. Good luck.

Hi,i need help for synchronizing the wallet need the new darkcoin.conf

New Qt does not need one
But is so slow  24h  and yet not synchronizing  Embarrassed

Exit Qt
Delete peers.dat

Run Qt

report back
This same   Embarrassed

I have exactly the same problem with one of my wallets on a Win7 64bit PC. I've tried everything mentioned in this thread to solve it - but nothing works. I believe the problem lies in the actual build of Darkwallet.exe, as CPU usage is very high when it's running/syncing, it frequently freezes & displays the (not responding) error before unlocking itself again & is generally slow & unresponsive. All my other wallets are on this PC & my Xubuntu ones and are running fine.

Bitmains new S2 firmware improves p2pool compatibility, it's still not optimal, but much more bearable with a lower DOA/reject rate than before - as well as almost a 100Gh/s increase! (in my case, one went from 880 to 980) Bitmain let me test their beta releases on my node & they seem to have got this one right - shows what a little R&D can do.....

I'm using --queue 1 atm, will test with queue 0 later.  Smiley

Better late then never I guess, that is good news Smiley

Shame they didn't do it 10 weeks ago.

Running with --queue 0 is proving the best setting again I'm finding - it's like a new miner!  Cheesy

Should we stop cgminer before upgrade or we should not to care about it and just flash new firmware?  Roll Eyes

Just flash - it's fully automated..... Wink

But uncheck the keep settings box.
280  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 【ACTIVE】AntMiner S2 Tech Support- 4300 units powering a stable 4Peta GHS on: October 31, 2014, 09:40:45 AM
I don't want to risk truying it... Sorry...

Who does?..

 Cheesy Cheesy

Don't worry - it's safe & a good improvement over the last version, as well as fixing the security issues. I've been running it for 8 hours now without issue, very happy with it. A few tips to ensure a successful upgrade:

Uncheck the "keep settings" box when flashing - you'll have to re-enter your settings after.
After logging in to 192.168.1.99 - perform a factory rest.
It works with mdudes Antmonitor as an S3.

I highly recommend everyone with an S2 upgrade to this firmware. Thanks Bitmain (at last)  Wink

EDIT: You can see the improvements on my p2pool node here:  http://iyftech.zapto.org:9332/static/graphs.html?Day  (I installed the firmware just before 3 am - scroll down to the S2 graph) I'm using a queue setting of 1 atm - I'll test with 0 later today. The cgminer parameter settings are now on line 60 of the /etc/init.d/cgminer.sh file for changing the queue settings for p2pool. The hash rate is higher & the DOA/reject rate is lower with p2pool & this firmware - it's a good upgrade.

Thanks to Bitmain for letting me test the betas on my node, it's good to see Bitmain still care about p2pool & it's users  Smiley
