21  Other / Meta / Re: Can we have the Forum Rules as a separate sticky in B&H please! on: June 17, 2019, 10:04:08 AM
The warnings could maybe just be displayed for only newbies and they go away once you get one merit.
The Welcome message written by @theymos has still been an unofficial one, and has not yet been sticked as pop-up welcome message for new registered account (I guess it is because @theymos has not officially announced about the Welcome message implementation). Furthermore, I don't think that the exclusive criteria of Welcome message should be one merit earned. Sometimes, people can get merit easily by joking posts, or something like this; it means such criterion solely does not make sure that Newbies whom earn their first merit actually read forum rules.

I suggest a combination between one merit earned and a threshold of their log-in time (such as 7 days) - like what we have with Flags, newbie-warning flags.
22  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [Guide] Viewing images without quoting posts/ OPs on: June 17, 2019, 05:48:52 AM
It is personal favorite, quote or not quote, I don't argue with your choice. IMO, I would prefer to avoid quoting whole OPs, and images - especially over large images. Choosing which part of OPs you want to discuss, which images you want to quote. That's it. There is no reason to quote dozens of over large images in OPs, and if there is another way to see images without quoting, or clicking on the links, why not use it?.
I know that the method in the topic has some disadvantages, but in cases you can use it, I think you should use it to increase your security, to protect yourself.
23  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: [GUIDE] Making quality thread + grammar check on: June 16, 2019, 07:16:35 AM
Another important point is choosing a title that's simple i.e short and straight to the point
There is a guide written by theymos: Topic title style guide. Someone who don't know how to make a good title, please read it to avoid terrible topic titles. The key point theymos pointed out is
Quote from: theymos
condense your topic's main idea into a few sentences.
Moreover, the topic has a small wrong usage of capitalization. It should be: [GUIDE] Making quality thread + grammar check
Quote from: theymos
Use normal capitalization, not "newspaper capitalization". "Thread title style guide" instead of "Thread Title Style Guide". Capitalize the first letter of the title unless it a trademark like "eMachines".
Lastly, words should be used relevantly to avoid misunderstanding between questions (for help), guide, and remember to use question marke if you ask something.
24  Other / Meta / Re: Its not fair that yobit got banned on: June 14, 2019, 04:25:23 PM
They hired a professional bounty manager
They should do this, or at least they should show their minimum respectfulness on the forum by having campaign manager, even low-quality manager. Then, with low-quality manager, other rules might be violated, but it is another step with quality of their campaign. Stake is different, because at least their owners (@Stunna), and their managers show us that they actually listened to community discussion. Recent day, Stake.com campaign started to re-choose their participants, by removing low quality participants (as they promised)
25  Other / Meta / Re: Its not fair that yobit got banned on: June 14, 2019, 03:58:22 PM
It’s not fair they were able to take advantage of the forum by causing massive amounts of spammers to create nonsense posts in masse to advertise their business, harming the community in the process.
One word: Disrespectfulness

There are few reasons mentioned, but I believe that the main reason of Yobit ban is the way Yobit team dis-respect the forum, includes admins. I agreed with you, QS, that they took advantage of the forum, biggest on in crypto, to build traffics for their site, and additional benefits. Yobit should be banned next time, maybe with permanent bans on their campaign if they keep showing disrespectfulness this way.
26  Other / Meta / Re: Its not fair that yobit got banned on: June 14, 2019, 01:13:23 PM
The fact is Yobit account was inactively in the forum for year, more than one year (not sure exactly how long that account was inactively). At the day Yobit campaign started, that account even was not actively again. Yobit only logged in the account when people complained about Yobit campaign, but interestingly there is no official announcement made by Yobit. They keep silently, and campaign announced in the forum by low rank account (Junior Member or even lower, maybe from community, and not from Yobit side). BPIP site is down, at the moment, but you can check later the day Yobit account woke up.
27  Other / Meta / Re: A Request For The Other Merit Sources on: June 13, 2019, 11:50:57 PM
(when I do recieve)
As a source, you should not repeatedly make such typo. I agree that sources should use merits wisely and appropriately, but there are things out of control of merit sources. LoyceV has a topic on this (I will update link later when I find it).
As sources, quality, and reputation, earning merits become easier, so surely that you can do this naturally. Contributions is likely natural and habitual character of merit sources.
we should also try to earn individual merits to get some earned smerits for support.
28  Other / Meta / Re: Why aren't there postive trust flags? on: June 13, 2019, 10:28:41 PM
Trust plays its roles with trading issues and you are right by suggesting Positive Flags. I guess you mean you suggested other colors for Flag Boxes if Numbers of Oppositions outweight Supports. If a Flag Box, mostly opened to raise Warning, and in most cases Supports outweigh Oppositions for sure. Therefore, I guess such cases (that you want to see with Positive (Oppositions>Supports) Flags, that should be displayed with other colors are so rare). Moreover, I believe by now DT members have lots of things to do with current Trust Flags (without such Positive Trust Flags you suggested).

I don't think reporting scammers relate to three usecases of Trust Flags. Reports will be read and solved by forum staffs, and community are unable to support or oppose reports. It's very different.
I think that several of the problems with Trust were because three different goals were being jammed into one system:
 1. Getting a general idea of someone's trade history and trustworthiness in one convenient location, sort of like reviews on sites like EBay.
 2. Warning newbies/guests who don't know how to research properly about high-risk people.
 3. Deterring scams by creating a cost to scamming (ie. you'll "lose" a veteran account).
A reporters badge is on the way just give it more time.
I think reporting 500 posts for spam deserves a postive trust flag or icon.
29  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: List of truly instant and anonymous bitcoin casinos on: June 12, 2019, 07:59:36 AM
So you do not trust Stake and Primedice as well? As there is a term on both sites that they reserves the right to ask for KYC at any time? Indeed they do not ask it to all players since the first time of registration but there is a chance that users will be asked for KYC. KYC is not something related to trust IMO, there are many trusted site that requires KYC although they are not gambling site.
I don't mean to say that I support KYC because I don't like it as well to be implemented on gambling activity especially but the main idea is that KYC is not about trust.
As I knew, casinos don't ask for KYCs with user registration. They only ask for KYCs if users do huge withdrawals, but the threshold to identify huge withdrawal depends on each casino. Withdrawal exceeds the threshold will be played as a trigger to ask for KYCs. PrimeDice is a very big casino, and it has good reliablity and good history; Stake.com is another good site, that built and managed by the same team of PrimeDice. Despite the fact that there are drama about Stake.com campaign recently, it has still been a good site. It relates to spam, and at least by now we don't see scam accusations on both PrimeDice and Stake.com.
30  Other / Archival / Re: Users created for spam on: June 11, 2019, 02:00:43 PM
I think that you should lock the topic, and move your proofs to that topic: [CLUB] The SpamBusters! Keeping eye on the spammers for almost a year: [5.27.19]. If they are verified, they all might be nuked.
31  Other / Meta / Re: Ban appeal, looking for answer and solution. Thank you on: June 11, 2019, 01:53:57 PM
I scanned your post history, that is fully with bounty reports and one line posts. Your post history gives me a thought that your permanent ban mostly came from plagiarism. Plagiarism is the most common reason of permanent bans, not only for you, but also for other users whom permanently banned. Maybe, forum moderators or someone can show your proofs later. In the meantime, you can post your ban appeal there: ✅[BAN APPEAL]UPDATE: Total table + Ban status (Need feedback from Global mods). Follow the table form in the OP, then you will be fine, and not be considered as ban evasion. However, your chance is very low (based on your post history).
If you are banned, write a post in this table format from an alternative account:

32  Other / Meta / Re: A Request For The Other Merit Sources on: June 11, 2019, 01:14:32 PM
Basically, we don't need to see high inflation rate of sMerits. Do you agree with this point, cabalism13?
No matter whatever areas we join, in crypto, in stocks, in any kind of financial markets, and in the forum, high inflation rates always equal to auto-degradation over time.
Therefore, I don't think we should see both higher inflation of merit sources and allocated sendable merits.
Giving users competitive surroundings to show off their constributions via constructive posts will be better for the forum.
Additionally, there is another fact that part of users turn to more lazy when they hit their targets. For instance, if a user at Full Member rank reaches a Senior Member rank after months of continuous contributed to their local boards; that user might turn to lazy because thinking that the next rank (Hero Member) is too far away, and something like unreachable. Then, that user's average level of contructive posts will decrease. Hence, I think that we need to have highly challenging forum, with low inflational sMerits, in order to create good posting habits, then users will hardly turn back into spam or low quality posts after hitting their desired ranks.

34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Binance to Reportedly Introduce Its Own Stablecoins ‘Within Two Months’ on: June 07, 2019, 11:13:23 PM
Launching own new stablecoin is another step to dominate crypto space from Binance. They sooner or later will become another Bitman in crypto, in level of influence. I don't know exactly what I expect from this (when it become true) because I have vague & unstable thoughts, concurrently. There are also some stable coins, and USDT has still been the most popular, BNBT, let assume its name like this might take over USDT, but it is hard to say crypto will become better by BNBT, that actually will be affected by Binance operations and news.
35  Other / Meta / Re: Want to know the reason for my ban on: June 07, 2019, 06:47:15 PM
I was banned last month. (Here is my profile: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=86256).

I tried appealing the ban through email, but I got no response.

I am a member of this forum for the last 6½ years, and I think if someone wants to ban me then he should at least have the decency to tell me the reason for my ban.
Reasons of bans presented in Red message. Mostly spam or plagiarism. Did you get such ban message? Rule on plagiarism has become more flexible after the kick-off of recent banwave. If you can show that you are a constructive user and have good neteffects in the forum via your contributions, you might have chance to get reduced sentence from admins or global moderators. Chances become higher if you made very little plagiarism, and in such plagiarism, admins or global moderators don't see shady intention behind. Being here too long won't help you to get reduce sentence.

Mostly, @Veleor will come with proof (but he is not staff), and I think you should patiently wait for him.
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Litecoin halving 2019 in 2 month on: June 07, 2019, 06:17:21 PM
Litecoin has already done more then 4x since the beginning of year.
Do you think it is worth buying it at this price?
Nope, if you ask me. I will stay away from such party for greedy guys. Halving, halving and halving again, we all know when halving occurs, and such things repeatedly made lively to manipulate price. I saw Litecoin rose around 10% last hours, but I will determinantly stay away from Litecoin, and wait longer to get better enty positions. Investors can choose to hop on Litecoin at current phase, and might get profits, but I think generally it is too risky to invest like this.
In the meantime, I think it is better to use funds and invest in other good projects. Litecoin is not the only altcoin that we can invest. Dogecoin, Bitshares, Stellar, or even Ripple.
37  Other / Meta / Re: Should beginner and help section be moved to the top of the forum? on: June 06, 2019, 11:47:46 PM
Maybe not to the top, but I wouldn't mind if it was located somewhere closer to the top.

Currently Bitcoin Discussion is already filled with newbies asking simple or off-topic questions, or low-value posts anyway. Maybe the top board would have higher discussion quality if more newbies posted in the newbie section before moving on to other sections.
How about linking the Welcome message (written by theymos) in the automatic popped-up Welcome message after a person register new account, and log in the first time? Moreover, like other sites or softwares, there are options to enable or disable welcome message for each time opening/ logging in later? If such links added to real Welcome message, that is amazing, and Newbies will have very warmful and comprehensive Welcome message.
Around one year passed, I don't know the message has been officially applied or not (seems not because theymos has not edidted this part).
Here's a draft of a welcome message for new users. The user will see it on the screen confirming their registration, and it'll also be available in the help center at any time.
38  Other / Meta / Re: Create an option to get an e-mail notification when a PM is sent on: June 06, 2019, 08:31:48 AM
This could be useful for the current forum but once the forum switches to the new software, hopefully with a 2FA option, it would no longer be needed.
Theymos stepped in and did hard for forum users. The switch from bitcointalk.org to Epochtalk might be a huge migration (or hugest) in history of crypto forums. Mainly because bitcointalk.org is the biggest and unique crypto forum, for years. I don't know which set of security methods for accounts will be applied in the new forum with 2-factor authentication, but I guess there are three methods: emails, signed message, and 2FA. It will be likely a tripple security method, that is hard for hackers to steal accounts.
39  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: List of truly instant and anonymous bitcoin casinos on: June 06, 2019, 08:25:05 AM
To be anonymous, it depends on gamblers themselves, not only casinos. Casinos can provide good mechanism to help their users being anonymous, but gamblers themselves should be careful with their activitives when visit casinos and gamble. Using TOR is utmost thing to stay anonymous, and if gamblers don't use TOR, it is risky for them if they put all required things on casinos' owners hands. Gamblers should be careful at the start, when they register accounts on casinos, and with their first deposits to casinos. People tend to forget to do such things because at beginnings, they don't think they will use such new-born casisnos for too long.
40  Other / Meta / Re: Press Board - Limit Number Threads Per User Per Day. on: June 06, 2019, 04:04:49 AM
So this is the reason why I keep seeing news articles here and in other forums from that website. How about temporarily banning the site instead? Can it be done?
Sure, it can be done, imo. What theymos did with Yobit campaign gives us a good example, but it requires manually handlings from so many components in the forum. From users whom report such things, from moderators whom collected community reports and make a summary report to admins. Then, only if theymos has time to code something, those sites' advertisements in the forum will be disabled. Such things can not be done by only theymos, or any of us.
I don't know that the topic and Yobit case will result in new official rule of the forum, on the ban-period of signature and hyperlinks of sites violate promotion rules.
