441  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: March 10, 2018, 03:46:44 PM
Almost 2 months have passed since the appearance of the merit. During this time I wrote more than 100 not the worst posts in the local section of the forum. And I did not receive a single merit. Seems that I do not understand how this works.
Hi,
I check your post history and found that most of your posts are one- or two-line threads, and most of them posted in Russian local board. I don't know Russian language, so I can't understand what you wrote. But I don't think one or two-lined threads would be useful, or helpful (in most cases they don't). You should improve your threads' quality (more lines, more useful/ helpful), more posts in Beginners & help child board and Meta board.

That is my advice for you!
442  Other / Meta / Re: How to earn merits easily ? on: February 23, 2018, 03:42:19 AM
The new merit system is created to increase the number of relevant posts rather than nonsense and repeated questions. In order for us to to earn it, we should have a high quality post. Posts with helpful contents that may help each and everyone of us in this forum. The main purpose is for the readers to find something that are relevant to read rather than toxic posts.
The topic tittle means a lot of things. How to earn merits easily, lol  Shocked It seems that creator of the topic want to get tutorials on how to rank up easily for which purposes behind merit points he/she wanted. ranking up easily and fastly getting bonused money from signature campaigns, bounties, airdrops, etc. Those sort of users, who simply and only want to get money/ rewards, will never contribute anything to the forum.

To sum up, there is no way to earn merit scores easily in the forum after the launch of merit system some weeks ago.
Keep writing shit posts, keep spamming, you will stay at the current rank forever. Good luck, fella.
443  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to increase your merit ? on: February 22, 2018, 09:51:35 AM
Hi, Why My Activity is not increasing after 70 ??
The fact is for each two-week period, your maximum count of activities is 14. That means you seems to spend 5 or 6 weeks since the point you creating the account. You have to wait till the first day of seventh week to post again and increase your activity count.
Hope it helps!
444  Other / Meta / Re: No option to give and recieve merit on: February 19, 2018, 12:21:31 AM
Good Day I am a Jr. Member and having a problem in my account. Why I cant receive or even give merit?
Does any one have the same issue like mine?
Also what should I do to fix this matter?

thank you all in advance.

1. You definitely can receive merits. For each merit received, your account will automatically get 0.5 sMerits (sendable merit) which you can use to send to others. The minimum sMerit to send it's 1 sMerit. The problem is you only earn merits from good/ high quality, constructive, creative, innovative threads. Some of them will get merits.
2. You cannot send merits to others at the moment. Only Member rank and above can send sMerits, by which they give other both merits and sMerits.

445  Other / Meta / Re: Newbie Forum on: February 18, 2018, 03:08:34 PM
how can a mere newbie post and send messages? huhuhuhu  Sad Cry
After several threads (also means several activities) you will send messages easier. Don't worry, keep learning, improving, helping. Be yourself and don't pay too much attention on earning money from the forum. You should learn first.
Additionally, Beginners & help board is for newbies, but you should using search function first before creating new topic. It is simply because most of newbies questions had been answered in old topics. In most cases, newbies don't have to create new topic for such a basic question.
446  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie Question: Benefits on joining this forum on: February 02, 2018, 04:19:50 AM
There are several benefits:
1. Getting news
2. Observing knowledge
3. Joining in-depth discussions
4. Getting helps, advices from others and vice versa.
5. Opportunities to join campaigns, airdrops, bounties, etc.
6. Improving English skills (most of boards, particularly important main boards discussed in English).

There are also risks:
1. Getting scammed by bad ICOs, fake projects.
2. Getting banned if use/ write/ discuss inappropriately.
447  Other / Meta / Re: Merit merit oh merit on: February 02, 2018, 03:26:01 AM
Let me summarize your "contribution" to this forum so far:
Local boards that I can't read: 2 posts
Posting many links to Facebook and Twitter: 30 posts
Randomly dropping your telegram nickname: 1 post
Random question ("can I use in MacBook?" in a thread called "WinMiner"): 2 posts
This thread: 1 post
Total: 36 posts

So, how about a question thread like me now? as good as what questions to asked to get merit? Huh
So many people don't realize the Merit system is designed so that they don't reach a higher level anymore, to reduce the spam on the forum. You type broken English, it's not really clear what you're asking, but you post it anyway.

Instead of creating a new tread on the same subject that is covered in many other threads, you could have read them. But you didn't.

Totally agree. Someone who don't know about merit system and its relationship to ranking system, how it works, etc. should watch around the forum in following board, including Meta, Beginners & helps to get information we want. This question almost answered appropriately in other users. Hence, creating new ones is not a smart choice, which also makes the forum hard to follow with almost the same topics.
Unfortunately, in some cases if you don't pay attention, quoting ideas of someone else, you are under permanent bans due to inappropriate paraphrasing, or plagiarising.
448  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Signature stopped working, need help on: February 02, 2018, 03:07:17 AM
awesome, admin quickly fixed the signature problem

How come you're able to have link in your signature? Is it because you're a Copper Member?  Huh
Yes. Cooper members have some privileges as almost the same as Members in the forum. They can put links in their signature.

Warmly welcome to the forum. I cannot give you all recommendations about what you should and should not do in the forum. In the thread, I can only recommend you several fundamental things that might help you to be faster familiar with mechanism of the forum, how to contribute, what should do to be ranked up.

1. Be eagerly to learn new things, new terms/ definitions, new knowledge, new forum's rules too. Forum rules will continuously change over time, if you cannot catch new ones, you might do wrong things which violates new rules, then bad unexpected things might come (account banned, for instance).
2. Be ready to help other new users (I be here to help you today, so when you have more knowledge, please help back to other new ones), such as going to Others > Beginners & helps board for this mindful purpose.
3. Be as constructive as possible; don't and reduce as more as possible spam threads. Those threads will make the topic like a ugly, chaotic forum; really hard to find useful threads whichwill be covered by tons of shitty posts.
4. Dont's try copying and pasting; or plagiarising. Your account will be under extremely high risks of bans (at worst, permanent bans). Please quote original posts/ authors if you take someone's ideas and put them in your posts. Respect them and protect yourself.
5. Don't indulge in buying, selling, exchanging sMerits and Merits. There are admin, moderators, and higher-qualitied users -who will eagerly to spot you if you tried to abuse/ cheat the system. Be smart and don't do that.
Hope that my thread help you have clearer general view about the foru,m, how to survive and be a useful one in the forum.
450  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Signature stopped working, need help on: February 02, 2018, 02:33:35 AM
my signature worked fine for the past week and looked like

but today I noticed it changed the links to plain text "(https://ico.jizzcoins.com/)"

anyone know what might have happened?
Thanks
The problem is with merit and new rank system, accounts are below Member rank can not wear signature attached hyperlink. More precisely, that means they can wear signature, but link inside signature cannot work.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2818350.0
With new ranking system for bitcointalk forum's users, a user who are ranking at Member has to collect more 90 Merit scores to be ranked up to next level, Full Member, simultaneously with activites. Therefore, you have to write constructive and high quality posts for receiving from other users, who feel that your threads are valuable, useful, by which I mean they think that your information help solving third issues. For your case, you are only lack of Merit points.
452  Other / Meta / Re: How about Merit Measurement scale on: January 29, 2018, 05:30:34 AM
Not bad. I think the merit system should adjust and do the following two things:
1. Limiting the maximum merits which each post can receive from one user.
2. Limiting the maximum merits which each user can send to another per day.

Those two will help us to control spammers, cheaters a little bit better. They can buy/ sell/ exchange hundreds of merits daily to only one user.
453  Other / Meta / Re: Merit System Numbers too high to achieve - A Suggestion on: January 27, 2018, 03:17:42 PM
The merit system is there to encourage you to make quality posts. Contribute something positive to a topic by saying more then I agree. You can get multiple merit points for your replies if users deem it a quality post.

I want to see the numbers doubled or tripled honestly. Users have 35 weeks to start from newbie to sr member and 70 weeks to get to hero. That is plenty of time to get the merit points required in order to rank up.

All these users that troll the bitcoin discussion section, trading discussion, altcoin discussion, economy, and speculation sections are going to need to start making better posts or they'll be stuck at their current rank for a long time.

It's meant to be a little tough but not impossible.
Agree. At the start of merit system, I cannot imagine that I can get merit points from other users in the forum. By now, I have got 8 merits for my contributive posts from other generous users. I think that is the way merit system will truly work and improve our forum to be a cleaner, more knowledgeable one.
454  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: January 27, 2018, 02:48:53 PM
Why Merit is so hard to get them??
How to make good post??
is there any other way to get Merit?
How to get merit?  Please give me explanation
1. It is only hard if you are not able to make high-qualitied or contributive posts. If you can, you will get of merits from others. The other ways is create a new topic, which is informative, high-qualitied, of course, to get merits.
2. It requires a lot of time, of course for learning in order to be knowledgeable enough to make good post, which can help others to get out of their mess, the one of them will give you merits.
3. Of course, there are some alternative ways, which I don not want to mention there. You should stick to possitive approach, which is better for your self too.
4. Hope that my thread will receive merits, which in turn a good instance for you.
455  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: January 27, 2018, 02:17:15 PM
Guys, any chance that current period will be counted as previously (without merits yet)?
2 activity till Senior member  Embarrassed
Me too. 4 more activities before being Member.
456  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: January 27, 2018, 02:09:07 PM
There is a big chance that even if you post only quality content you will be left with no merits at all.

First, people don't know what that is and how to use it. Second, nobody likes to give merits because it fills like you are losing them.

There will be a lot of abuse for sure. We will see merits sent to low-quality friends post and accounts providing upvotes for money or in exchange.

I see there is a discussion to add bad merits to downvote spam. I am afraid that people will use it as a weapon to downvote posts they do not agree with or just because they don't like the author.

You are missing a point by misunderstanding one of very fundamental characteristics of merit. You cannot send your merits to anyone, the ones you can send is sMerits (sendable merits). You won't lose your merits by sending sMerits to others. Please donate 1 merit if my thread is contributive and useful (at least for you)
457  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: January 27, 2018, 02:47:28 AM
Well, you see? Someone has noticed your post, you've got 10 merits in one shot and now you are fit to become a Member in no time, as soon as your activity is 60. I think this system could work for low ranking members, but only for them. When you join the forum it will take you two months or so to achieve the activity necessary to become a Member. In these two months you just need to get 10 merits - which should not be impossible, or even difficult, for someone who makes decent posts.
The problem rises afterwards, when you need hundreds of merits to climb further in rank. My guess is that that will be an impossible mission, given the scarcity of sMerits. In the rules will stay like this on the long run it will thus become a Forum of Members only - with a little elite of people with higher and mostly frozen ranks.

Well, you have a point of course and perhaps getting the necessary number of Merits for each rank isn't all too difficult (though I think it gets more difficult the higher rank you go).

I think the original intention of the Activity system is to reward active members who contribute to the forum, and assign a ranking for them. It is an own-merit system (my own unofficial term), meaning you yourself control the destiny of your rank. It has its flaws of course, as is the reason for now introducing an additional Merit system.

The only concern I was pointing out on the Merit system is that it is a subjective system dependent on others (and not an own-merit system). This means, you are dependent on not only getting recognized by others but also being favored by them to hand out merits to you.  It's a system of chance, depending on whether someone notices your post.

All things said, this just represents my initial impression.  Perhaps I could be amplifying the picture or perhaps I could have misunderstood the system, and my concerns may be unfounded.  Time will tell how this unfolds.
As I said in my previous posts, I totally agree with you. Merit system which highly correlated with ranking system is good, but it has drawbacks. And this one partially is a system of luck, of chance, of randomized generosity. Lower users have to almost totally or partially depend on others to be upgraded. Therefore it should be adjusted a little bit.
Merit system should include two parts:
1. One part for users effort for themselves. Increasing their merit points weekly, monthly by a certain number of merit points, such as 2,5 merit points per month, etc. in a way extremely stricter than maximum activities monthly. Final merit points per month should be discussed more.
2. Merit points they can get from others who appreciated their posts which are both useful and high-quality.

Two parts will sum up users' total merit points.
458  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: January 27, 2018, 02:09:05 AM
I've said before it's harsh for Hero members with over 775 activity to get only 500 merits, and your case is the worst I think!

What about Legendary members who now have the same Merit as those who have 1,000+ less activity than they do?   Wink

The system is not perfect, but nothing stops Theymos from tweaking it later.

The Merit system reifyies and institutionalizes Legendary power structures!  Angry

Legendary members with more activity must have their privilege checked, because meritocracy is a racist tool of white supremacist ideology.

Cry Cry If there were an alternative most of us would be gone already probably. At present however Bitcointalk has a monopoly position. And the crypto scene shouldn't belong to only a few, but to all of us. Cry Cry

I like your image, this tell lots of thing. The merit system is good in general, but it has still have some drawbacks, which should be eliminated in order to keep the merit system is a truly fair one, keep it as fair as possible for all ranks of users.
Anyway, I support the idea of merit system which related to user ranking.

i'm walking around btt, reading, watching and can say that this merit system changed this forum forever, and not at the good side. today it is absolutely another place, not that was yesterday. Today it is a forum of one little group Hero's/Legendary's and their 'sixes'. Very bad... If i would be Satoshi i will never more enter this place. it is really disgusting to watch that what was happened in last days...  And i don't care if you some hero fanatic will give me "red trust" for this post. Coz i'm writing now from thousands of people, who are scared by this little group of 'nobodies' which means themselves like "gods...

We are all PEOPLE, do not forget THIS

Not totally agree with your ideas. The forum have been spammed recently with tons of shitposts by farming accounts. Therefore, it should be cleaned somehow, and Theymos did it. Personally, I don't think the current solution with recent released merit system is a perfect one, but it is truly a good one. This one will inspire users to post high-qualited threads. However, I also think that there should be two sides, which users can depend upons them in order to ranked up their levels.
(1) Increasing their merit points by their own activities, such as one or two merit point for each week will be automatically allocated to each account by the forum.
(2) Getting gifted merit points from others for their good-qualitied posts. That's is the current aproach of merit system.

Please give me merit if the thread is meaningful and contributive one. ^^
