Finally, I was able to connect using a remote node and deposit and withdraw successfully.
Thank you all for your help.

It is still concerning that your local node couldn't start synchronizing. Also, relying on a remote node run by someone you don't know is not recommended. To check whether this problem is Aeon-specific or not, please try running Monero's daemon (https://github.com/monero-project/monero/releases) and see if it starts synchronizing.

Monero has no problems. The problem is only with the coinsmiths who cogged the source, codebase, pretty much everything there was to cog, and called it aeon. I will be looking in to the code to find the faulting part. First, I will dissect, maybe vivisect it like a living organism. After that tests will be run as a means to check whether the thing u dread is in there.

You will turn into a 100 year old man before finding the faulting part in the code hehehe. Also, in case you were not aware of this, Aeon's developers consists of smooth, Monero lead developer and stoffu, member of Monero's research laboratory.

Play somewhere else little man.

smooth yes, others - first time hearing. And dont give a smidgen of a fuck about it. Stoffu's acronym stands for "shut the flickering fuck up" or something? lol stoffu is merely is a paid dev living to subsist on bread crumbs more knowledgeable people dump in his plate. Why do u think did these guys hook up with another project, why do they spend their time to do this stuff? Whats your function other than bark in the forum thread?

stoffu isn't getting paid by this project (nor by me).

As far as I know, he works on it out of personal interest.
62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [AEON] Aeon Speculation on: June 22, 2020, 01:05:32 AM
@smooth. Syncing a Monero node becomes slow beginning on the height when RingCT was activated. A sacrifice done for privacy. However, it improved with bulletproof.

How much bigger would blocks become in Aeon with RingCT and bulletproof?

There's not a clear answer (it depends on the nature of actual usage) but my guess is something like 2x, maybe 3x. However, sync speed might slow down even more due to higher CPU load.

Iirc with stoffu’s calculations it was about 25-33% larger blocks “at today’s current tx volume” to implement both at the same time. The larger the blocks, the more total bloat you get.

That number is probably more accurate if you assume no changes in usage (though I think that's a bad assumption).

aeon consolidating not so badly its recent price increase:

https://www.coingecko.com/fr/pi%C3%A8ces/aeon#markets

What are AEON use use cases? To adopt the use of AEON will mean innovative thinking and collaboration and partnership.

Aeon is one of the few, if any, CryptoNote coins without RingCT and Bulletproofs. If a venerability Or exploit were Found in this code, almost all CN coins would be affected except Aeon.

So many coins forked from monero and or just created from copy pasting monero code to say they aren’t a direct fork, can become obsolete from a major exploit in this code. It’s nice being in the sidelines due to this while still maintaining a private blockchain.

I would not begin to think or assume that there are vulnerabilities on RingCT on Monero. The Monero developers stand with the best in the cryptospace.

The advantage of not activating RingCT in Aeon is for the blockchain to remain smaller and more manageable. This advantage will be witnessed in 5 years, I reckon.

I'd say both. The possibility of a vulnerability in RingCT is very low but not zero. The possibility that the higher cost becomes unwieldy and impairs usage is also meaningful. I don't know if it is low or moderate (I wouldn't consider it high).

Conversely the possibility that impaired privacy/fungibility without RingCT becomes a problem is also meaningful.

@AdamCox9. Thank you.

In any case, where is smooth? Taking everything about the coronavirus pandemic into consideration, I am very worried.

Huh? I answered your question in the Steem/Hive thread. I guess maybe you posted this earlier and I didn't see it. I don't have COVID-19. All is well here.

@smooth. What would be your suggestion for the leaders of the 2 platforms?

My suggestion would be to ignore Steem as a failed project that is now a centralized sham of a blockchain little different from Onecoin or other such scams.

If you think that Hive is sufficiently different as to escape that fate then it might have merit otherwise the same thing applies.

With '0 (in)' you may have your port blocked. That's okay, it'll still work, but you can get more connections if you open it.

Can anyone check Bittrex and Tradeoger's Aeon addresses? Have there been Aeon sent out?

Is this a joke?

These losses are based on in-game contracts that I partly refused to enforce

You stole close to 40 BTC from me (this sum does not include any interests, just the sum you took away directly by never executing my requested withdrawal, and running away with the funds then going dark).
As I said I am willing to forget the interests. However I expect payment of the principal in full.

"Running away with the funds", in my world entails that I have received them to my possession. This, however, never was the case. Is it possible to commit theft without gain?

Yeah, if you obtain an asset (in this case in-game) on credit, mismanage or otherwise fraudulently dispose of the asset, then make another commitment to cover the debt in order to obtain even more credit, and then refuse to repay the loan.

Which is exactly what you did.

Pay your debts.

The original assets were in-game, but the offer, accepted by many, to redeem the in-game assets was made on this forum. Until and unless you honor that contract and the debts so incurred, you are a scammer who has stolen from other members of this forum. And so you shall remain.

I don't know of any way to make the blocks smaller at this time.

72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON: Cryptonote privacy, efficiency, decentralization, and stability on: April 19, 2020, 05:35:57 PM
Hey. How can I view the balance and transactions of AEON wallet at its address. Bitcoin balance can be viewed at https://www.blockchain.com/explorer?view=btc_blocks. What about the AEON wallet balance? I found a wallet archive for 2017. I want to see the balance and whether it makes sense to restore the wallet. Thanks.

You need to download the software and open the wallet. There is no way to see a balance in a public explorer.

We don't get to choose whether people mine with FPGAs or ASICs. The coin price and characteristics inherent in the technology and mining hardware determine it.

I think people mine with whatever is available and makes sense to them.

Yes, we're saying the same thing.

@bigslimvdub. It might not be a random pump. The whale is buying up to now and supporting the price hehe.

In any case, do we have a hardfork about to occur? Also, where can we find some data on Aeon's hashrate?

There is no hardfork planned at this time.

Explorers are listed on the web site and will show estimated hash rate, but of course that is always an imperfect estimate.

Aeon victim of an attack ?

https://www.reddit.com/r/Aeon/comments/fwffv6/puemp_eet/

Difficulty going up when people start mining isn't really an attack but it can still be annoying when it takes a long time to come back down. Anyway, it did come back down, and everything is working fine now. I have some ideas how to improve this so maybe in a future update it can be.
76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] AEON: Cryptonote privacy, efficiency, decentralization, and stability on: April 12, 2020, 08:08:45 AM
@smooth. Someone mentioned this on the aeon subreddit.

original emission curve was scrapped and restarted, and aeon is now at the end of total coins to be emitted.... forever....

Scrapped and restarted? I do not know anything about this. Can you give an explaination on what occured?

https://www.reddit.com/r/Aeon/comments/f8fiml/what_is_the_future_of_aeonfunding/

The emission curve was never changed, and nothing was scrapped and restarted.

I think what that might be referring to was there was some discussion of a future perpetual inflation of about 1% instead of the fixed tail reward, but there was never clear consensus on it and the tail reward hasn't even been reached yet anyway. Right now we are still on the original (unchanged) smooth declining curve. Monero launched first and will reach the tail reward first, and that hasn't happened either.

It is the nature of crypto that people sometimes have strong opinions and go overboard with strong language when there is something they don't like. Or maybe are just confused, I don't know.

It also isn't at the "end of total coins to be emitted". There will be a tail reward and coins emitted forever.
77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: April 11, 2020, 03:00:00 AM
It was just RingCT without bulletproofs were humongous, like 14 kB for regular tx or something, and I think that may have been during kind of alphabay insanity days, so maybe significant portion of that 26 GB is from them, but that is a lot more analysis than I'm willing to provide  Smiley

Well as you said average is about 2k so all he has to do is some simple arithmetic with that number to make an educated guess.

Transactions are about 3% of BTC right now I think. I'm not sure if they track linearly or not but that would be interesting graph to see.

The ratio with BTC has been increasing significantly lately.

50k usd to pump 500 % ?

i.e. less than 10 btc ?

Yes, it does not take millions of American dollars to pump Aeon hehehe. Its liquidity is so low and dry, it smells like my grandmother without her bath hehehe.

In any case, what are the rumors? @smooth?

I don't know any rumors about AEON. If you've heard something have fun spreading it, though probably on the speculation thread unless it has to do with something other than price.
80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NEWS] Did Binance just help Justin Sun take over the Steem network? on: March 28, 2020, 01:44:02 PM
@smooth. I speculate Justin's quietness about this matter is a sign of danger coming. He might be talking to his lawyers to begin a lawsuit versus the witnesses.

Whoever might win the case would certainly take the cryptospace on a significant turn for better or worse.

I have no view on what Justin might be doing nor what some silly legal system might do.

Ethically, in my own view, witnesses have the right to include or not include whatever transactions they want into a block, and also to run whatever software they want on their own computers. I don't see where anyone has undertaken any obligation to do otherwise. But, like I said, legal systems can be silly.
