I have an older version of the wallet (version 4. something).
when i upgrade , do i need to back up anything?
i currently have some coins on leaf pool which points ot a receiving address. Will i keep the same receiving address when i update my wallet to v5?
simply make sure your wallet is closed - download the update from https://beam.mw/downloads and run it. the wallet will guide you through migration from the old version if you have any issues please ask in https://t.me/BeamSupport

How to create a Confidential Asset on Beam https://www.raskul.com/creating-a-confidential-asset-on-beam/
BEAM OPEN SOURCE POOL SOFTWARE following hard fork at block height 777,777 I have undertaken two stress tests on the pool code. Using https://pool.raskul.com I deployed two tests by renting hashrate from nicehash. The first test was a prolonged period (around 8 hrs)of around 20Ksol and this produced some fantastic results, with regards to the stability of the pool. As this was pretty early on in the new BeamHashIII algorithm, i was pleasantly surprised to find absolutely ZERO invalid shares submitted and only a small portion of stale shares (around 0.04ksol over the duration) The second test was even better, and this was conducted after the difficulty had settled and blocks were being produced on the 1min average as expected.. I pushed 200Ksol for around an hour and again ZERO invalid shares, but this time the stale shares were even lower at 0.001ksol stale over the duration. This is testament to the fantastic work which has gone into producing the open source pool software and the repo can be found here: https://github.com/r45ku1/beam-minealso we have built a payment processor called BASiC which can be found here: https://github.com/r45ku1/basicboth open source software instances have a full how-to guide. With 1070s, the new version is painfully slow on beamv2 (~1.7 times slower than the previous one) and all found shares are rejected by the Nicehash pool.
must be the pool you choose to mine on giving you the problems, i'm mining Beam directly and the new version is pretty much no different to the previous.

Hi rgsnedds, Thank you for the testnet. We were about to inquire about it. This is very useful! We already tested a bit, and both miniZ and your pool appear to be working fine. We expect to use it a lot until the algo change Cheers my pleasure. i have forced to stop the pool temporarily but it will be back up soon. good luck in making the most optimised miner for BH3!

Hi everyone, Thank you for your patience! A new version miniZ v1.5t3 is out! * 125,4 (ZEL): major improvements for various GPUs. Up to ~11% (1660 Ti) and ~8% (RTX 2070).* 150,5,3 (BEAM): major improvements up to ~3-4% for GTX 1660 Ti, RTX 2070. Minor for other GPUs.* Better pool connection handling.* Added --ocX option for automatic tunning of the best kernel for your GPU and OC settings. (125,4 and 150,5,3 only) * Added macros to log file name: @algo@, @date@, @version@, @user@, and @host@. Write for ex. --logfile @algo@@date@@version@.log in the command line. * Improved stability. Download miniZ v1.5t3 here. Few notes: * When adjusting your GPUs OC settings check if your GPU supports oc1/oc2 ( FAQ ). It may boost your performance a little. --oc1/oc2 changed for some GPUs, for 125,4 (ZEL) and 150,5,3 (BEAM) in the new version. In this new release we added an option for automatic tunning of the best kernel for your GPU: --ocX option. At the moment for ZEL and Beam only. For updated and more detailed information read the specific topic on FAQ page. * On Download page you can find Cuda 10 and Cuda 8 versions (Linux and Windows). For Turing architectures (16xx series and RTX) you need to use Cuda 10.0 versions. * We are considering to drop Cuda 8 support in future versions. * For additional information check our Usage or FAQ pages. Let us know how it goes! Happy mining!
