3787  Economy / Auctions / Re: Sellin 0.5 BTC casascius coins 2013 on: May 27, 2015, 12:34:57 PM
Update : I am sorry for that change, but in the end there is only one coin for sale in this auction.

I am shipping from europe. Also, winner pays for the shipping.
The coin is funded, so it's up to you to pay for the insurance.

Also, any bid within the last 20mn extends the bidding period by another 20mn, to prevent snipping.

I have made some poor quality pictures, a friend will lend me a better camera so I'll upload a nice pic here.
3788  Economy / Auctions / Re: Sellin 3x 0.5 BTC casascius coins 2013 on: May 25, 2015, 10:38:32 PM
It would be advisable to get a signed message from the OP prior to doing business with him. Even with him sending first or using escrow you will be giving personal information to him that you probably do not want disclosed to someone with malicious intentions.

"Hello
This is yogg from bitcointalk
Well... This is a signed message to prove the account ownership ?
I don't really get your point, Quickseller, except to prevent someone that might have accessed my account to impersonate me ?"

3792  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Coindice,Johny1976 Scam. Sell script with bugs. on: May 21, 2015, 12:10:47 AM
I bought a dice website which was using CoinDice. Since I was not the original script buyer, I didn't get any update and Johny never replied to my PM when I contacted him to look for a solution.
However, I asked a dev to audit the code before I put it in production. He said it was ok to run it, and that there is no backdoor.

Sure, there was no backdoor.
About 2 months later, someone found an exploit and managed to empty my hot wallets. Again, this was not a backdoor made on purpose.

What happened is that the hacker found a way to repeat some operations.
At the beginning, he repeated bets. [Screenshot] (see how the bet ID got reversed but the roll outcome is the same for all the bets... Disturbing isn't it ?)
But then, the exploiter managed to repeat withdrawals and made them happen several times in my wallet, while the script shows it processed them only once.

I have read a lot of thread about CoinDice being easily exploited. Overall, it seems poorly secured.
Because Johny didn't care at all about my messages, I won't buy, host or support a CoinDice script ever.

Buyers beware.
3793  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Altdice.net -Multi coin dice game - Onchain and Offchain - Provably Fair on: May 20, 2015, 11:46:19 PM
Sadly the crypto community has not had a good show lately... Sorry Im jaded... Im just looking for a response. Thank you for yours...

Hello gr8tness,

I understand your concerns. I am conscious I should have communicated more about what happened. In fact, at the beginning of May, I was not sure what to do.
This is why I skipped the profit payments.

I never intended to scam, and I this is not an option for me.

Now that I have found a solution to keep the website going, everything should be back to normal at the end of the month. I'll pay the profits for April and May at the end of May.

Also, I'll be looking to make the offchain dice game available ASAP. Thanks for your comprehension and sorry for the inconvenience.

You don't lack anything, anyone would have panicked and buried their head but not many would have come back! AltDice is an awesome site (Be it a little addictive) but a brilliant service in the crypto world.

Thanks a lot for your kind words and support, batesresearch. It's really precious to me. It might sound stupid, but I really need that... Cryptoworld is a harsh place and we should help each other.
I'll never thank you enough for reassuring everyone in this thread, when I was away.
I immensely appreciate everything you do for me. I'm forever grateful to you.
3794  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Altdice.net -Multi coin dice game - Onchain and Offchain - Provably Fair on: May 20, 2015, 07:47:04 AM
Hello everybody.

First, please excuse me for the time I needed to come up with a solution and about my very poor communication.
I took a break because I didn't know how to address the situation. This is the first time something similar happens, I needed time to process the shock and find a suitable solution.
I missed the 1st of May profits payment. I just didn't know how to react.

As I said, the site and I are not going anywhere. I am a responsible person, I will stick to my word, and I'll do my best to find a solution that suits everybody.
The website is running since August 2013 and Altdice is one of the most resilient altcoin dice website over time.

Now, about the event. The offchain dice script was exploited and the site's hot wallets were emptied.
Some coins were stolen. A minor share, but still.

I didn't do the calculations yet, but I believe the stolen amount is somewhere around 1.5-2 BTC.
When that happened, I was unsure of the future of the website. For sure I wouldn't run away with investors funds, but then, what to do ?

I was thinking of selling the website so I can free some of my time and repay the investor without injecting my own funds.
But, I don't really want to give up on AltDice. There is still a lot of room for improvement.

My biggest mistake was to keep the news while I thought of some solution.
I know the first thing I should have done was to communicate about what happened. I am very sorry for this.

What happens now ? Nothing really changes.
I will buy the stolen coins back and cover 100% of the loss.
The profits for April will be paid as they were supposed to be, at the end of this month. So at the end of May investors will receive April and May profits.
Along with the profits payment, I will add 10% of your investment to compensate for the inconvenience and lack of communication.

Also, I will be looking for a new and safe offchain dice script so players can enjoy this game with a large selection of altcoins.

Now that this is posted, I will review and reply to the posts.

AltDice is a legit website. For sure I lack some management skills but I try hard to do my best.
I value honesty a lot, I won't allow that investors who trusted me suffer from any loss of coins.

Hello,

The 10k withdrawals are paused on Altdice.net
I can process them manually.

Please send me a PM here or an email in the contact us section with your unique URL and a 10k address. I'll process it asap.
Shareholder's coins will be returned within two hours.

Thanks for your comprehension, sorry for the delay.

Any exchanges or sites still supporting 10k or BALLS should close shop on them immediately

Question: Altdice.net, I know you are not running the show there, but what do you foresee happening with the deposits that we made there.  Will they return the amounts we sent them with our share of the profits and close up 10k ?

Hello,

We will repay every 10k coins to investors today, along with your share of the profits.
Yes, we'll close 10k then.

By the way, if someone can't withdraw please send us an email. We had an issue with the offchain dice script and had to disable it momentarily.

3798  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: [WTB] $100 worth of BTC - I have PayPal on: April 18, 2015, 06:59:09 PM
Hello,

Since it's reversible, I know you folks don't like PayPal deals.
I have done a few here, and everything went well every time.

I'm willing to buy $100 worth of BTC.
The rate is Bitstamp +5%.

I'm willing to use escrow or you send first. Then I'll send the PayPal money to you as a gift/friend.
I'd like to deal with trusted members only.

Please reply on this thread first, then we'll go by PM to make the deal.

Thanks ! Smiley

Escrow is unusable in the case of paypal.. As the escrow would end up getting charged back if you did decide to scam.

Not calling this user a scammer.. Just be cautious. Smiley

I understand. I mentioned escrow because one time, some user told me to send the PP money, then to claim a chargeback and cancel it, only then he'd send the BTC. He was a Jr. Member without feedbacks. I didn't do it because I looked fishy.

However, I would do that only if the escrow has received the BTC.

3800  Economy / Auctions / Re: Full member auction - Account older than 1 year on: April 17, 2015, 06:39:29 AM
===snip===
Could someone confirm ?

===snip===

yes it is. if the account hasnt posted atleast once in every 2 week period, then it will not rank just by posting.

I dont think so. My account gets one activity per post though I did not post for long time. After one become a Sr. Member, the rule you are saying might be applicable.

I thought like at first. But after searching a little bit more , I realized that dznuts were right.
To explain it easily;

-14 day periods are decided by bitcointalk.org and same for everyone
-If you have zero post and  an account created at 2009-2014, and just starting by posting you will get only 14 activity (even if you post 100+ posts) until next 14 day interval.
-So account owners posts 1 post every in 14 day period to increase the activity capability.

Lets compare 2 things:
Lets assume you have 2 accounts ;
-one created @ 2011 and have 0 post;
-other one created @ November 2014 and has 10 posts posted in 14 day intervals

So, you want to post on both accounts now and posted 130 posts for each account in 1 day.
First account will get only 14 activity even if you posted 130 posts and created on 2011. On the other hand, since oter account has already 10 posts which were posted at different 14 day periods , it can go 140 activity level w/o any problem.

Your account's activity is increasing because you have already posted lots of posted at different 14 day periods.

Another post of me that explains how activity works?

Awesome EMIF ! Thanks a lot for the precision.

It seems like the account for sale didn't post for 2 months, so we're already 60 activity below the max.
Still, this account should go Senior Member quickly, by posting less than 100 posts.
