Here is a recent tweet from PlanB stating that $100k is still on card for this year. But for BTC to double from here to reach the $100-$120k mark, it needs another small country like El Salvador or any wealthy individual to purchase as much BTC possible by him otherwise FOMO should kick in to bring a fresh high. With Bitcoin and crypto being known to majority of the individuals all over the globe, we need another wealthy inflow of fiat money for us to reach this phase. I personally, have been using Bitcoin as an alternative to fiat since 2017 but with recent sudden surges in prices I have tried to limit my spending using Bitcoin to quite an extent and started saving them more as an alternative to Gold. So, IMO I won't be selling anytime soon even if the price tanks to as low as $10k just like how it happened in 2018 bear market. But OTOH, if we are low on Bitcoin balance, it would be good to sell now or at $75k and buy the bottom to increase our balance. As others have pointed out, this time major venture capitalists and wealthy individuals have onboarded onto Bitcoin and hence facing a harsh dump like 2013 or 2018 is quite not possible unless they try to ruin the market. Prior in 2019 or so, I have speculated that BTC reaching $500k and surpassing the market cap of GOLD is possible only in a dystopian era in one of our forum thread's but after such huge movements I don't think it would be a difficult task either. |

People still used to believe these 18 year old prank by Indian media  The true fact was that Ponting was so good and was able to judge the Indian bowlers and obviously was able to unleash the maximum out of the innings. But apart from that Kookaburra bat which was used by Ponting regularly had a strip of carbon graphite which provided extra power while hitting the ball. I've been a regular user of normal Kookaburra in the mid 2005s and obviously these bats were powerful and it was able to change the way we hit the ball. ICC banned the carbon backed bat in 2006 matches and the company behind the bat recreated bats without them later and supplied to the international players. Indians were unwilling to accept the reality of Ponting gameplay in 2003 WC and started a blunt talk stating that his bat handle had spring lol. Is this considered cheating though? using spring bat to take advantage, thus scoring more than he should?
I think you just need to reframe your post though. Spring bat was a nonsensical rumor spread by Indian media but the real fact was the usage of carbon graphite bat which provided extra power for the batsman while in contact with the ball. The same kind of graphite bat was used by former Sri lankan opener Jayasuriya as well! Moreover while I was representing my state from 2010s, I used a more expensive bat which costed $100-$150 which was even more powerful than the normal bats used at that time and hence I was able to score better.  |

Good and unique topic which I think has never been discussed so far in our forum and I believe I can answer the question from both perspectives (as a spectator and a player). I've been representing cricket for the state level in my country for quite a few years and all I can say is that spectators are just meant to watch the game rather than playing it on the field. Playing the game is completely different from watching it and commenting on the player or the coach for playing properly is not good as well. A play can be influenced by various factors and one among them is the placement of certain players in the field at that particular time. individuals (spectators) of a sport, due to extreme love for a sport become masters of a sport so much that it seems almost like they now know the sport better than some coaches.
This is not true. It's always easier to play FIFA in your PC rather than playing that in the field along with other players. Spectators are mere video game players, though they know the game very well it's quite not possible to guess what is happening in the field. -Is there a possibility that spectators of a sport like you and i with no professional training can develop a better understanding of a sport than some professional coaches of some teams?
Nope, not possible. Will you be able to become a self-made doctor just by reading various books? Becoming a self made engineer is much more possible than becoming a self made doctor. Similarly, one can never be able to master a team sport like football or cricket without having professional coaching. |

There are various reasons for why we have seen an increase in the rate of gambling. The primary reason among the increase in gambling is that many have lost their jobs due to the pandemic and have been left stranded on the streets. This urged them to gamble with their money and receive huge profits to neutralize their annual income. While the today's crypto market is also considered as gamble in general with sudden surges of price in meme tokens which hold zero value and the fake shills and scams happening all over! Apart from these, gambling companies has increased the number of ads being displayed in the internet and many are moving onto make quick profits everywhere. ...snip...
The same happens in the 2021 crypto trading as well. I beleive 2017 was much better than 2021 because during 2017-2018 bull run greediness was on a lower number and only altcoins which had the potential pumped to new highs. Nowadays any coin which is backed by a dog symbol pumps over to the top and then drops suddenly after a few days Should we consider this as trading or gambling? Crypto trading has also left various traders depressed as they ended up losing millions during sudden dumps. Hence, we need to keep an eye on our known people even if they are too much involved into crypto trading as well. |

I've been into ETH and SOL NFTs since early April and all I can say was that since ETH had insane gas fees, I moved away from it altogether in May to SOL and had never got back to any other blockchains since then. Though the market and hype for ETH NFTs were huge, new developers and innovations onboarded to cheaper blockchains like solana and one such example was Aurory and a few other projects which are actively developing.
Since the cost of uploading ~10k NFTs were as low as 2 SOL inc fees, innovators and artists were able to view solana as a direct competitor for ethereum in general. But probably the biggest disadvantage of solana is their highly centralized nature of control of servers, but it had it's run since the last year $2.
Opensea is relatively good, fast as lightning and has buttery smooth UI and I have personally bought 2-3 NFTs when I was into ETH in early April. I would obviously wait for coinbase NFT space to launch to see how this goes but till then I will stick onto solana. If you're looking to get into solana nft space, it's worth taking a look at digital eyes, magic eden or alpha art marketplaces. Alpha art is kind of a replica of opensea but they have great UI as well.

You are absolutely right buddy, just yesterday I was on twitter page of a project and someone posted an nft he had minted and the it was an image I could easily save to my folder, and this same thought came to me,
Will you be able to sell that image and make money in return? Just kidding, but the current market of NFTs are equivalent to gambling and there are absolutely no use case for the majority of the projects out there. Cryptopunk was sold for millions whereas BAYC is worth atleast a $100,000+ and these are obviously nothing but fake FOMO which was created among the investors. The same happens with various shitcoins like DOGE/SHIB which has no value and usecase but still being pumped for fake profits. But through NFTs, we will be opening up a whole new world of metaverse just like what was shown in Ready Player One/Free Guy which can exist in blockchain and should be unique. For instance, consider the role playing game of Aurory which is currently in development where each NFT/avatar in the game is being traded for 20 SOLs. When people like you or me buy the NFT and participate in the game we will be able to win aury coins which can be helpful in buying in-game real estate and many more. If you had been deep inside Decentraland, you should be knowing how NFTs can transform the current world video gaming and this was the one among the core reasons for Facebook renaming its company to Meta! The novel Ready Player One explained the similar concept 10 years ago but without the use of blockchain and just through a simple video game which would be meaningless in future. |

Man, that was being said back in the 1950s about life in the 1980s. Didn't happen. There will always be a need for human input and work. Always.
I would like to agree with this for sure. Human brain is a very complex processor which can probably reach 1 exaFLOP calculations per second but the fastest supercomputer Fugaku has just reached 400-500 petaFLOP calculations which when maximized can reach 1.42 exaFLOP per second. Although we are faster in terms of hardware and had successfully reached 1/2 of the human brain processing power, software hasn't reached the stage to make a completely self-dependent AI which can think on it's own. For the beta stage of a fully human equivalent AI to come out to the public, it might take another century or two but they might still not be able to challenge the human intelligence IMO. Obviously the repetitive jobs will and should be replaced by AI and automated workforce like robots so that humans can work on the ways to improve these machines for performing even more complex tasks. If the current gen youngsters are still working on a manual job, they need to learn something new and move on to other jobs which won't be replaced by automations or AI anytime soon. For instance Manual QA job is a dying field and there would be absolutely no scope or future in working as one since automations are killing the respective field and might be replaced completely anytime soon within a few years. Similarly gambling shitcoins for the next 100x alone won't sustain for long term and obviously it would reach a miserable death in a few more months. Rather than that, building something on top of cryptocurrencies like a new exchange or a new alt chain or a NFT or contributing towards Bitcoin and getting hired by Square will be beneficial for long term. Manual jobs will and should be replaced by automations and AI whereas humans should start focusing on ways to improve this world for the betterment of the future generations. |

The primary goal of majority of the retail investors of the crypto space is to increase their bitcoin holdings by gambling shitcoins. We all know that SHIB is equivalent to DOGE which is being fake pumped without any real value behind them. Bitcoin has matured a lot while comparing the ICO era where OGs hold the major stash and manipulate the market. With bitcoin prices rising at an enormous rate, a few individuals should have sold at varying time frames of the pumps and liquidized their bitcoin.
ETH has reached a stable position as well comparing to Bitcoin but the higher gas fees is posing a major threat which fuels quite a few new individuals and OGs to move towards centralized coins like SOL as an alternative for smart contract ecosystem. If you had taken a look at the mcap of various coins for the past 5 yrs, Bitcoin and Ethereum has never changed it's position from the #1 and #2 while a few alts disappeared from Top 10 like DASH and new coins moved to the top. This happens in every cycle and during the next cycle we may be witnessing the next new coins holding the position of #3-#10. Through this we can conclude that, investors are gambling new coins just to increase their bitcoin balance and nothing more.

I'm struck at that party scene where the twins meet Shrem for the first time and after that didn't have enough time to start them again.  In 2019 I found this, which I believe you saw back then

But Belisarius, the member who requested for the ecash.pdf says this pdf was from 2017 when checked via metadata and obviously we cannot verify the authenticity of it. I don’t know if you’ve seen/read about Gemin's billboard freaky campaign in New York to commemorate the anniversary:
That’s basically a sacrilege as I see it, whereby the Gemini rippers convert bitcoin origins into hypewave bubble NFTs.
Recently I bought 2 books related to Bitcoin, the Internet of Money Vol 3 and "Bitcoin Billionaires" and I have started reading the latter. It literally spills more light on the early years of the twins after the Facebook case but it seems like the twins had strong interest in Bitcoin as soon as they have heard it for the first time. But at the same time, I have been too much into the NFT space since the early Feb of this year and think they would co-exist as how altcoins existed after the 2017 ICO mania. Alternative chains like Ethereum and XMR solved various real world problems through the use of blockchain technology established by Bitcoin in general. Similarly quite a few NFTs like Decentraland which are being built on top of ETH might be able to provide an answer to the upcoming VR verse as shown in various movies like Ready Player One or The Matrix!
