21  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: bitcoin changing my ideology from socialism to libertarianism! What about you? on: October 08, 2014, 02:37:25 PM
This system of carefully organized hierarchy-based violence, we call "capitalism".

Free market capitalism has nothing to do with violence, at least not the initiation of violence.

Capitalism doesn't work, thats why he used quotations. Nothing that gets centralized over time does. What we have now can best be described as a crony plotocracy.
If you want proof, take a close look at the BitLicense

Free market capitalism most certainly does work.  We'll have a much better world when the crony plutocracy is replaced with capitalism.
I don't like the word capitalism, it reminds me of my grandfathers smelly underpants, but the free market will work if Bitcoin stays decentralized.

Did you read AA's book yet?

24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: True distribution: limit hashing power to (for example) 1TH/s per IP address on: October 08, 2014, 11:14:16 AM
Sounds like a good idea. If you ask me, taking measures to keep bitcoin decentralized is not just in line with the original ideas, its necessary for bitcoins survival.
25  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why There Should Be A Bitcoin Central Bank on: October 08, 2014, 07:18:42 AM
The asset bitcoin (with a lower case b) is somewhat of a currency (it is getting to be more so like one over time). Any currency will always be an asset, as this is just what a currency is
When I call it an asset I mean that it holds value in itself because of its scarcity, similar to gold and art. A piece of paper with a dollar sign on it does not, it only represents something that supposedly holds value.

People needs to forget about all the economic mumbo jumbo. It doesn't apply to Bitcoin.

Backing up bitcoins with dollar bills doesn't make sense because it doesn't solve a problem. Thats where Bitcoin stands on its own.
26  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why There Should Be A Bitcoin Central Bank on: October 07, 2014, 10:59:30 PM
Bitcoin is the central bank, and the asset, and the currency, all at once. Thats why libertarians like it, finally they have something they can understand.

27  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: And You Say Paypal Will Never Embrace Bitcoin on: October 07, 2014, 10:16:12 PM
Hey, it isn't done yet! Paypal will very probably allow BTC transactions, but what's the point?

My thought exactly. What's the point, is PayPal delutional or something?

The past has finally decided to accept the present?

I don't get it.

I would say I have had a similar experience. I wasn't exactly a socialist, but probably close to a social-democrat.
The Bitcoin community have definitely radicalized me, or woken me up if you will. I'm not sure if I should call myself a libertarian or a anarcho-capitalist.
I guess it doesn't matter much what the f*** I call myself, which is one of the sweeter aspects of it.

No offense, but that sounds exactly what a 9-year old kid that thinks he is grown-up would say.
Yeah, thats what a 9-year old kid that thinks he is a grown-up does to you

What do you think?

I think you should stop making silly threads and spend more time reading.

You're a noob, we get it but atleast show your effort in learning. Being spoonfed is not gonna get you anywhere. You will however be mislead by hearsay.

Dont you think we would have had discussed these topics long time ago?

Exactly. That's the whole point. And we have countermeasures that we can put into place in the event that this occurs.
We don't even need to hardfork, most miners would switch to another pool anyway.

No, the whole point is that when someone ask you what you think, you show some respect.

These forums are swarming with kids these days. Grow the f*** up!

LOL. Why start insulting too?
We expressed our opinions and showed the OP other threads where others expressed their opinions.
Then both of you start raging and cursing at us.

The thread you responded "exactly" to is a pile of poop.
If the original post was also a pile of poop, I wouldn't care. But it wasn't.

WOW. Such insult. "pile of poop". And then you say we are kids.

Please explain why you think it is a "pile of poop", otherwise you have no right to say so.

Grow up and you will see what I mean

Besides, 51% attack is a real threat imo. So far the best defense would be to switch to a currency that uses X11 hashing or something like that.

34  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: THE REAL reason why BTC has a slow adoptive rate on: April 14, 2014, 06:55:57 PM
OP has a point. People should learn to think twice before they post. 99% of the time, the guy/girl on the other end is nothing like what you have imagined
35  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ripple vs Bitcoin on: April 05, 2014, 01:28:22 PM
XRP stripped off the fundamental technologies that makes bitcoin actually work. Controlling the value of a XRP is centralized and entirely in someone else hands, and so is the XRP themself.
Neither does it have the incentive to stay decentralized built into it the way bitcoin does.

I will continue to claim this for as long as people think they are comparable.
36  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Flattr-like functions in Bitcoin-qt on: April 03, 2014, 11:40:56 PM
Flattr is a nice way to contribute money so I like the idea.
For a client like bitcoin-qt though I think it would make most sense to create a plugin architecture, and make the Flattr function a plugin
37  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: When is enough, enough? on: March 31, 2014, 11:03:19 PM
I can't think of anything, it would have to be if the encryption is broken, or if mining ends up being centralized by a small cartel, but I can't really see that happening. In both cases other currencies would take over anyway.

That said, I have to say that I can't see that bitcoins has any value what so ever as an investment object. It only has value as an advanced currency. It has to be the blood circulating the veins of the market, or else I'd probably loose interest at some point.
38  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: For those of you who say governments can't ban bitcoin on: March 30, 2014, 09:14:58 PM
...
Look at what happened with online poker a decade ago. Government got involved, seized bank accounts, forbid banks from doing business with online gambling sites, etc etc.

They didn't have to go after individuals to cripple something, they go after the big institutions.

So for bitcoin, if they want individuals to comply with laws, they could set up an agency where you have to register your bitcoin addresses with (and possibly give them access to freeze/seize your funds if they deem necessary). If you don't have a valid registration with that agency, banks will not allow you to do any transactions related to bitcoin (eg, wire transfer to an exchange). The government would use the banking system to enforce their laws.

That would probably make both governments and banks both unpopular and unsuccessful.
Big institutions are a no-no in the bitcoin sphere. Something a lot of people doesn't seem to get.
39  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: For those of you who say governments can't ban bitcoin on: March 30, 2014, 09:06:14 PM
Here's the catch, governments have companies like facebook, google and others working around the clock to provide internet and online gadgets to every nutcase stalking about out there, so that we can all be happy citizens in their brave new surveillance state, and that will make crypto-currencies like bitcoin even stronger than they already are.

The truth is, from a technical viewpoint, they can't touch it.
40  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: In order for bitcoin to appeal to the masses, there needs to be a 3rd party on: March 29, 2014, 10:06:47 PM
Who said bitcoin would appeal to the masses?

80% of the western population is completely dense, expecting someone to hold their hand from cradle to grave. Over a couple of hundred years we have been made into a stupid, greedy, self righteous mass of coward apes. And believe me, the establishments count on it by now.

Just get over it and feel the fresh air of revolution
