What implication's does DarkWallkets (a anon. bitcoin wallet) upcoming release have for darkcoin?
What makes DRK stand out vs. BTC used in darkwallet?
What are the technical differences?
As dark wallet is currently receiving press, an answer to this question by the devs would be excellent fodder for a separate article or post like I suggested a few pages back. Unfortunately I'm not confident enough in my understanding of dark wallet to answer the question. Dark Wallet getting ready to for live testing. http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/227lne/darkwallet_update/Interesting Q&A: Q. Will it be possible to connect the wallet to other cryptocurrencies? Litecoin, Peercoin, Primecoin, etc. A. caedesv The first version is going to be bitcoin only (well and testnet coin but maybe not at the same time). This way we avoid some complexity and also can deliver on the initial promises. For next stage we're totally considering make it multi-currency (and other goals). Should be easy and at least with some coins looks like we can even use the same bip32 tree, one key, many currencies. Could someone who knows their sh*t explain to me to difference between Darkcoin and Darkwallet? Is it likely to make DRK redundant? I certainly hope not as a fan/holder of DRK! Dark wallet is a centralized mixing service where you use a browser extension to anonymize transactions. Look at this screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/FA7TIA6.png . You can see it's routing all of the traffic through gateway.unsystem.net. So here's our advantages vs dark wallet: 1.) We're decentralized. The clients automatically discover all masternodes and will use those 2.) Everyone will use DarkSend by default. The problem with a product you must setup like this is you'll have far fewer legitimate users to mix with. 3.) Masternodes create a new type of investment opportunity within our ecosystem much like mining. The result? We get a ton of super high quality full nodes, anonymity and happy investors. 4.) If they're accepting inputs and outputs separately they can be shut down simply by a user offering an input, but refusing to send the output. If they're accepting inputs and outputs together, it's not anonymous and it MUST be decentralized to spread the knowledge of who did what to keep anonymity. My guess is they're taking inputs and outputs separately and banning inputs that do this. In that case you could attack it by using another mixing service to get fresh inputs.

DarkWallket is not decentralized as far as I understand, and does nothing for the potential colored coins issue.

Even if he was stealing he gives away more than he stole.. all in all he's a robin hood we all love +10000 Just want to say that you do a wonderful job with lotterymining CHAOSiTEC.

i have no nice graphic, but some solid numbers:
now we have ~ diff 300 for some days of mining:
diff 300 / block-reward 21 DRK / 12,096 DRK per day / 4,415,040 DRK per year diff 600 / block-reward 18 DRK / 10,368 DRK per day / 3,784,320 DRK per year diff 900 / block-reward 15 DRK / 8,640 DRK per day / 3,153,600 DRK per year diff 1200 / block-reward 12 DRK / 6,912 DRK per day / 2,522,880 DRK per year .... diff 3000 / block-reward 6 DRK / 3,456 DRK per day / 1,261,440 DRK per year diff 3300 / block-reward 5 DRK / 2,880 DRK per day / 1,051,200 DRK per year
more diff means (>3300): block-reward 5 DRK / 2,880 DRK per day / 1,051,200 DRK per year
to have a real comparison you have to devide the DRK-diff with 3 to have the scrypt-diff then you have "only" the scrypt-diff of doge-scrypt-coin: 1100
when DRK gets a bit more popular, then we will only see the 1 million new coins per year!
so a block-reduction is really not neccessary! its a very good block-reward-formula - it should not be reduced!
+1

THANKS! I have my fair share of DRK and I enjoyed contributing what I can. I'd like to give the bounty to lumeire who produced a nice infographics imho (he says he has only a few drk...).
Alternatively, if there is a bounty for lumeire's infographics, then I donate it back to the fundraising. I love the enthusiasm that is starting to build around this coin. Go Darkcoin!
There's already a bounty for the infographic. You can donate to the bounty fundraiser pool if you like: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg5637726#msg5637726I decided to do something extra instead of sitting back. I'm going to use my earned bounty to "BUY" users' way in I just sent a detailed email to 6 friends, with a link to the darkcoin wallet, and told them to download it, and send me their addresses. I will later PM you with their addresses so you can divide equally and send them the bounty. Once they are in Darkcoin, I believe they will also show/talk about it with friends, and thus the circle around Darkcoin widens. +1 Nice

To be honest, I'm a little ticked that this started out as "Bounty pool for marketing and branding" and now it's just "Darkcoin bounties" including bug reports etc. I'm fine with that for now, if that's what the funds are most needed for at this point.
But at some point, we need a REAL marketing pool, and it shouldn't be just spent on these incremental increases in value. It should be spent on something AWESOME. Marketing is an art, you don't just pay out a couple hundred bucks to make a slightly better website or translate to an additional language. At least, that's not ultimately the best use of funds when you're ready for mass adoption. Right now, this thread has ~171,000 page views. That's great for now. A liberal estimate means maybe 200,000 people have heard of Darkcoin. All it takes is one good marketing play... one single thing that stands out, and you get over 10 million people that have now heard about your coin. Doge has no technical use whatsoever and is far less interesting than DRK, but a brilliant marketing idea like donating $30k to the jamaiican bobsled team generates over 10 million views. We need to find our own crazy marketing idea. I'm not sure what exactly that is, but something that fits DRK and will get 10 million views based just on one single marketing effort. This doesn't have to cost much, but it will take a decent chunk of any marketing pool and be worth way more than the sum of all of these incremental updates. It could be something like a billboard. You can rent out a billboard for a month that displays digital ads in a high traffic area along the freeway for under $1000/month. This probably isn't the best fit for DRK, but someone has to get creative and figure out what that is.
I'd be willing to donate 5 to 10x my previous contribution to a marketing pool with a real marketing idea like this.
+1 I am thinking something to do with Edward Snowden might be interesting. If that story had just broke and we were raising funds for him in DRK it would be perfect. The bit about the DRK fundraising would have piggy backed on all the press about him. It's less topical now though. Maybe getting the Snowden Defense Fund to accept Darkcoin would be some news? If there is ever an individual whose privacy is violated and it becomes national news, fundraising for them may work. Evan said ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg5184431#msg5184431) he would be speaking at the Cryptocurrency Convention on April 9th but don't see him on the speakers list. If there's anything we can do to support him in that or getting similar speaking opportunities I think it is the best use of funds/time in liu of a brilliant marketing idea. Why try court so much controversy? It will bring negative headlines. The principle that any news, even bad news, is good for publicity? Maybe, but then you spend years trying to shake off the negative image - like bitcoin and silk road. Why not go after a more positive approach - North Korean people being able to access online payment services thanks to darkcoin - that would be practically impossible, but that sort of thing. I'll try and see if I can get Satoshi to move his bunch of BTC though DRK. That would make the news +1 If the coin provides anonymity and it is well highlighted, those who need that feature whoever they may be will be attracted. These are really good BIG MARKETING ideas that could totally align with DRK. Funding a Snowden Defense Fund would be a strong play at spreading massive awareness for darkcoin AND provide an actual avenue that the coins can be used. Ie, people buy coins just to donate. If not the Snowden fund, make a large publicized donation to something similar that Darkcoin has a real use for. Maybe a Whistleblower Fund

Here it is: Official fundraiser for Darkcoin marketing & branding
Since Darkcoin was 0% premined, we will be doing this the old fashioned way, with a fundraiser. Many people in the community have expressed an interest in pushing our marketing effort along. We wanted to make sure the time was right, while Evan sorted out the kinks in the Darksend code. But we are nearly ready to show Darkcoin and Darksend to the world, so let's get this moving.
I will release a list of bounties for marketing & branding in the next day or so when I have a bit of spare time. For now, you may donate to the official fundraising wallet (anonymously if you like!). You can also PM me with your donation details and I'll keep some accounting, if only for the sake of making sure your donation is accounted for and spent appropriately.
As always, you are a fantastic community and we appreciate your support!

I don't know who is running https://twitter.com/DarkcoinTweets but you've got a bunch of things wrong - Neither @Darkcoin or @DRK are related to Darkcoin in any way. Please correct that. I opened the @DRKCOIN twitter account very early on but the devs got it blocked/banned quickly in favor of their @darkcoincrypto account. Mine looked a bit too official anyways, although I had the best intentions as far as marketing goes. Had no problem handing it over either of course. sorry, I'm not up to speed with reddit / twitter 1503. Does this mean that it's basically BS? I'm sure the person behind it has no ill intentions - just that that for some reason he's linking to other twitter accounts which have nothing to do with darkcoin. He should be linking to the offical twitter if anything. I hear you, but I don't understand....... I just mean, is it completely bogus that the armory are accepting darkcoin? No it's true. You can read it here: http://www.reddit.com/r/DarkNetMarkets/comments/1zz4h0/the_armory_new_currency_accepted_darkcoin/I checked their website and they accept Darkcoins as payment.
