Zerocoin is zk-snarks. Shadowsend uses zk-snarks.  Additionally, ZeroCoin/ZeroCash also has what many consider to be a fatal flaw in the way it works. At launch, everyone using the network must trust the creator to destroy certain secret startup data. I'm sorry but I don't trust you or the SDC dev to make sure this actually happens. I am sure most people here won't trust you or him to do it. If they do they are damn fools. Neither do I. This guys lie and fud other coins to make their case or bring down competitors against SDC. Zerocoin is the most complex of the bunch. It uses a combination of digital commitments, one-way accumulators, zero-knowledge proofs, and some extensions to the existing bitcoin protocol to attain an extremely high level of anonymity. It’s difficult to translate all of this into simpler terms, but if you’re interesting in a more ‘technical’ explanation you can find it here.
Of course, such a high level of anonymity does not come without tradeoffs – zerocoin has a high amount of overhead. A zerocoin proof (344 bytes) is needed for each transaction, and stored within the blockchain for eternity. These proofs must be processed by network nodes, adding not only significant storage bloat, but computational requirements as well. Keep in mind that the average bitcoin transaction is about 400 bytes in size, so this is no small amount.
Zerocoin is not even released yet, so it could very well trim itself down before then. For reference, the first implementation used a 50kb proof… But in it’s current state, it doesn’t scale very well. It would function just fine as an altcoin, but if you were to scale the network up to bitcoin size, it’s likely too bloated for it to work. Also worth mentioning is that all the fancy math that zerocoin employs could also open the door for some sort of unforeseen exploit.

A little pre-emptive announcement:
A group of Bitcointalk users have modified (or perhaps completely invented) some IRC chat logs and screenshots in order to spread FUD about the Blocknet and XC.
It's incredibly easy to create a "record" of any purported conversation you want and present it as fact.
However such logs are not provably truthful, and in this case are false and clearly are posted with malicious intent.
Irc logs are easy to fake yes as they are just stored as text files. |

Read the article on deepdotweb. 3 observations: 1) its a good run-down of anon developments to date 2) the headline is misleading 3) it feels quite a lot like shadow propaganda (the whole Matrix thing + comic references + references to the Anonymous group) personal feelings: I encourage all anon development. It is incredibly hard (from what I gather). The chances of SDC rolling out a functional ZK wallet in November seem small. Comments? Q. If you are going for the end-all anonymity feature then yes, ShadowSend v2 will make certain other anon-focused Crypto-Currencies obsolete. However, I believe that each project that is honest and works on their development will have some sort of place within the scene. For BlackCoin however, as they are non anon-focused this lies different. In my mind it would be Bitcoin as the premier PoW coin, BlackCoin as the premier PoS coin and ShadowCash as the premier anon coin with its release of ZK tech. ZK Anon tech is the holy grail of anon, and is the top rung of the ladder. I myself as far as anon coin investing have 80% in sdc witht he rest spread among other anon coins, because in the long run Shadow will give me the greatest return on investment and be the clear leader with ZK release. Hypers and pumpers run amock in the alt coin world so there are always unexpected rises based off fluff, or people speculating. As in all things do your research, and at the very least keep and eye on shadow and watch for ZK to release. |

For the record Longandshort is an investor and a supporter he is not on the dev team. Now you asked some legit questions in sdc thread, as well as long asked a question and pointed some things out in here, just as you did in sdc. Neither one were troll or fud threads. They both raised points. Longs was perhaps a bit more colorful but everyone expresses opinions differently, his wasn't even about xst it was a response about bitcoin price and silkroad. I myself have some xst, because I diversify, you never know what will hit big, do i hold more shadow than xst yes i do, but thats because i feel it has greater potential in the chosen niche market its going after. BUt i also have more BC than i do xst, as that has a clear leader in Clearnet tech, etc etc. it goes on. Hell pretty much any coin that has a dev team that sticks around is worth investing some money into. The entire alt market is penny market mentality. Everyone is so closed minded. |

I agree. Although SDC still looks extremely cheap it would have been nice to have a few more days to buy at sub 20,000 satoshi before the zero knowledge release you had over a month to buy below 20k. |
