101  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SDC] The Shadow Project | Anonymous POS | Ring Sigs | NEW HTML Wallet 1.3.1.0 on: March 17, 2015, 10:23:46 PM
I count 4 child harold accounts posting in the last 3-4 days.

Its obvious and it makes the entire community look desperate and untrustworthy.

Why is it one outspoken fan like CH represents the entire SDC community yet the army of Darkcoin shill bots on twitter don't speak for it? That is all i've been hearing lately is people annoyed by CH as if Dark or Monero don't have dozens if not hundreds of shill accounts.

Exactly.

Thread updated with DarkNote !

Why still amber for Darsend being untraceable/unlinkable?

Darksend has yet to be traced or linked and that chap who made the bold claims several weeks ago has failed to deliver (which is no suprise since his initial claim was false too).

Dude this is just an advertising thread from SDC people, no real objectivity here.

Of course man !
This is why I'm currently planing to add more G-O-O-D coins to this thread, you're even lucky DRK in there. (If you didn't notice we added DarkNote today)

You DRK folks have nothing to say against arguments because you have 0 objectivity, you're just blind fanboys who fell in love with an overated coin... Every coin mentionned in this thread is in fact better than Dash tbh

The reason you're adding more coins is you're not getting much if at all traffic from DRK/DASH people despite provocative straw men attacks. Maybe DarkNote or Navajoe coin guys will give your ad thread steady periodical bumps and visibility.

Oops.. I fell for it again.  Undecided

Every thread for every coin is an advertising thread. Come on now.

Should prolly add navajo coin in for the comparison, since much ado is being made about it.

I would be extremely interested in seeing independent evaluations of SDC by prominent members of the community.

They should ask Dan Metcalf, he can review any coin in a day or two max.

Thats only because hes reviewing his own code. lol
105  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SDC] ShadowCash | Anonymous POS | Ring Signatures | Wow, Such Wallet ! on: March 12, 2015, 04:57:10 PM
So what happens if Shadow tokens end up on an exchange? Is there any way for that to happen without the exchange wallet generating a stealth address?

That might be a good way to enhance the privacy even further, if someone was doing direct conversions from Shadow tokens to something else.

we are kicking that around, allowing a sdt exchange as well. would allow for an interesting market.
106  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [SDC] ShadowCash | Anonymous POS | Ring Signatures | Wow, Such Wallet ! on: March 12, 2015, 03:26:16 PM
What is Shadow Tokens? Can't find info at OP.

Spending Shadow
There are two ways in which Shadow tokens can be spent: they can be sent as Shadow tokens or
redeemed as SDC.
1. When sent as Shadow tokens, new tokens are minted for the recipient to the value of the
input Shadow minus the transaction fee.
2. When redeemed as SDC, new SDC is created to the value of the input Shadow minus the
transaction fee.
In both cases the input tokens become unspendable.
The transaction fee for spending Shadow is 100x greater than the fee for standard transactions. This
is to cover the cost of the extra activity required by the network to transmit, verify and store shadow
transactions, which are larger and require more processing than standard transactions.
In order to spend Shadow, we use ring signatures to sign the transaction[5][6]. Our scheme consists
of three functions, generateRingSignature, generateKeyImage, verifyRingSignature.
For efficiency’s sake, when spending Shadow, we get a list of all anonymous outputs in the system,
then we remove coins that don't have enough same value outputs in the system, then we choose
the smallest coin or least number of smallest coins that can cover the amount + transaction fee.
Each Shadow coin has its own private key, so when spending Shadow, each coin or anonymous
input, will need to have its own ring signature generated, and will then have to be verified.
❖ generateRingSignature
➢ Executed by the sender / signer, when spending Shadow.
➢ After executing generateRingSignature, the ring signature will have to be verified.
➢ Takes an inputoutput / reference to the keyImage, the transaction hash, the ring size,
the secret key offset, the secret key for signing the transaction, a list of public keys for
all the coins or outputs in the ring signature and the ring signature, and a hash of the
transaction in which the signature is included (preimage).
❖ generateKeyImage
➢ Executed by the receiver, when receiving Shadow➢ The key image is revealed to the network to prevent a token from being spent more
than once.

From the Whitepaper

Basically, shadow is the anonymous component of SDC.

It is created by burning SDC.  When it is redeemed, new SDC is created on the blockchain.

It is my understanding that as more and more Shadow is created, more and more anon inputs/outputs are also created, strengthening the anon component of the network as it is used over time.

That is correct, also converting to shadow tokens, reduces the avail supply of SDC, So it has an interesting effect.

Just tried to build SDC in my windows environment, no dice. I told them about it before and they just shrugged it off.

head to irc #Shadowcash on freenode. Or make a post in the SDC Ann Thread.

I'll forward this up the chain of command. What is the exact problem?

Are you building the 1.3.1.0 source?

So far i have fixed the "sleep" errors and am now getting QWebView: No such file or directory

yes i build everything from source after reviewing it a little.

A quick google search seems to suggest that this is not standard qt build, am i correct?

[15:31] <@SDCDev> That guy who wants to compile for windows... you can't static compile it, that's why we provide the binaries... if he wants to build it, we need to write new documentation... he needs to get Qt 5.3.2+, non static
[15:31] <@SDCDev> then he will be able to build it
[15:32] <@ludx> 19:44 ludx: actually a thing we could add to the wiki would be step by step instructions to build the client Cheesy
[15:34] <@SDCDev> lol... errr its like a 5 page document
[15:34] <@SDCDev> haha

Holy fuck volume ive been gone for a few days. You guys think SDC can hit .50 within 12 months?

- Sorry for sounding like an asshole about the HTML wallet earlier. However there are too many advantages of being able to put the SDC core on a USB stick and give it to associates of mine and people that work with me. It would make things easier. No HTML. I work for people older than myself that do not understand crypto at all...our uncles. It took along time before they approved us using the darkmarkets and their products. I have to present SDC to them at the correct time and when the time comes i want SDC to be appealing and have the most real world use cases as possible. Right now it has a ton of potential with the non HTML wallet and everything built in...that is the future. This is something many many people who are involved in many things are in desperate need of. I can not tell you how much respect i have for the devs that put this entire thing together. I just want this project to succeed as mush as you all do.

you can put the sdc core on a stick, the html wallet is built overtop the qt core. It hooks into the Daemon/qt. The daemon can be built without the html interface. It is leaps above the QT wallets as a nice front end to use.

Can I propose that the Amber ratings under Anon for Darkcoin are changed to green until somebody comes up with any proof to the contrary?  If somebody proves link-ability or trace-ability thny its obviously an instant red (until fixed).

Seems fair to me, As of now its speculation on  link-ability or trace-ability.

Go on....you're going to need to explain why that makes it amber.

What does it matter. Let the kids have their fun.

While we're at it, I'd also like to suggest adding lines "much hype" and "sad results". I'll let others suggest the colors.

So this comparison offends you?, even though its being openly added to and modified as more opinions come in. Its not like this is a locked topic, and at least is being held in a more fair manner. Every ALT coin has had hype and pumps over its features, so to say DRK is above that is bollocks.

stop this ridiculous free promo

Oh come off it, its a comparison, organized in one place. If you don't like it don't post.

is it just me or does the topic title say ShadowDash instead of cash lmao

lol, who did that

lol, no the real rebrand is changing shadow over to Darkcash. lol

For real? I bought some SDC tonight as the Darkcoin to Dash rebrand might get some people to abandon ship. Is this Shadowdash now? People are fucking with me I think? Darkcash was a Carsen coin, but a good name.

It was just a tongue in cheek joke, all in good humor.
118  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [DRK] Darkcoin is NOT Anonymous? Possible Proof inside. on: March 10, 2015, 11:11:11 AM
well it's a good thing its not shadowcoin, its shadowcash.

Oh yea my bad, that changes everything.  Grin

Of course, branding means alot.
119  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ⋆⋆⋆ [SDC] ShadowCash | The First and Only truly Anonymous POS coin ⋆⋆⋆ on: March 10, 2015, 11:09:50 AM
I'm legit interested in this project, just do something cool and I'm here. I love proof of stake (definitely an improvement over proof of work in theory) and i love cryptonote. What do you guys have to prove that you are making advances in the space of bringing proof of stake to cyrptonote. I see a lot of promises and very little in the way of concrete advancement. Sorry for not doing exhaustive research, there are so many people promising so many things everywhere that i could never research all of the claims. A distillation in this respect would be greatly appreciated.

I'm usually here lurking and looking for ways to bash this coin, but to answer your question and to be fair, the devs have already done it to an extent.

They have put one part of cryptonote on top of the PoS SDC blockchain. The difference from a true cryptonote+PoS hybrid is that the cryptonote layer runs on top of the PoS block chain much like zerocoin would run on top of bitcoin. Here they substitute cryptonote-type ring signatures for the zkSNARKs of zerocoin. It's a good idea, actually, from a purely theoretical perspective.

Now here is the bashing part: cryptonote ring signatures cause a lot of blockchain bloat. The SDC implementation compounds this problem with the clunkiness of a zero-coin type token system. It's a great proof-of-concept, but in my opinion, it's not going to be practical. I could be wrong. Time will tell if it gets adopted, used, and is maintainable.

Appreciate the acknowledgement, eventually you might buy some sdc. Smiley
