1281  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Custom FPGA Mining Board: X6000/X6500 on: September 02, 2011, 02:54:38 PM
Hi guys,

did someone look at this site: http://www.picocomputing.com ?

Could they have something that helps producing faster/cheaper boards?

Cheers.

MintCondition,

another issue (so to speak) is that, it seems to me, if I do an instant cash out it does not subtract the donation that is set inside My Account->Account Details.

Is this by design or am I wrong?

Cheers.

MintCondition,

this morning I woke up and I found out that rejected shares are now around 4-5%.

I'm using phoenix and DiabloMiner, both show the same amount of rejected shares.

Is there something going wrong?

1284  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [101 GH/s] ABCPool.co - The NEW 0% fee PPS pool; with stales as bonus! on: August 24, 2011, 10:02:03 PM

UPDATE 00:15 UTC: RPC server has been restored to service. We introduced changes to the RPC server that should make it more compatible with the original pushpoold. Since most clients play nice with pushpoold, these changes to ABCPool should benefit compatibility with mining clients.

MintCondition,

I've been mining the whole day with latest DiabloMiner, it works ok now.

There is a little issue still open, though, that is the LP socket being closed often (every two minutes now).

Code:
[8/24/11 11:51:00 PM] ERROR: Cannot connect to pool.abcpool.co: Bitcoin disconnected during response: 200 ok

I still think the LP socket should not be closed so often, anyway it does not seem to be causing problems to DiabloMiner apart from this warning message.

Best regards.

1285  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: DiabloMiner GPU Miner (Long Poll, BFI_INT, async networking, multipool) on: August 24, 2011, 09:34:24 PM
As I just said to iopq, some kernels require more than others. Try 1/3rd, it will probably bring back your missing hashes.

Diablo,

with cores 860,287 and 980,327 and -v 18 I now get 795-797 so it is 3-4 MHs faster than the previous version.

Thanks a lot.

spiccioli

btw, what makes a kernel depend upon memory speed?

I thought that there is no (or very very little) video memory use in hashing the bitcoin chain and, up until now, I always did lower memory clock as much I could to lower energy consumption.

DiabloD3,

I've downloaded latest DiabloMiner, sadly it went from 793-795 MHs on a dual GPU (5850/5870) rig (860,260/980,280 as clocks) to 445-448 MHs!!

I start it with -v 19 -l url

best regards.

spiccioli

Try -v 2 or -v 18.

DiabloD3,

it is still slower

-v 18:  790/792 MHs
-v 2  :  789/792 MHs

best regards.

spiccioli

Btw, why are your memory clocks wrong? They should be 1/3rd of your core clock's speed.

They are the lowest ones that don't slow down mining.

Mainframe MC pool http://mining.mainframe.nl/index is officially adopting 'viribus unitis' motto effective immediately.

My thanks to spiccioli for this awesome suggestion.

You're welcome Smiley

Hey spiccioli,

I don't know why that is, however, I am sure that antares will take care of that. People got paid out anyway Smiley
Also, I think he changed it to the bitcoin blockchain now.

Hi computer22,

I did not consider we were mining namecoins, I don't know how long it takes to have 120 confirms on namecoin blockchain.

thanks for clarifying the issue to me. Smiley

1290  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: 120 confirmations on: August 24, 2011, 08:13:24 AM
a block does not get paid into the pools wallet until 120 confirmations, most pools will not payout before this is reached.

some pools pay earlier, it means the pool operator is taking a risk that the block will go invalid before 120 confirms

Aren't all blocks equal?

How comes my payment inside that block is safe after 6 or so confirmations but the 50 BTC reward inside the same block isn't?

best regards.

1292  Bitcoin / Pools / 120 confirmations on: August 24, 2011, 07:44:45 AM
Hi,

I'm wondering why are (most of) pools waiting for 120 confirmations for found blocks while the network considers 6 confirmations enough?

Hi,

looking at rounds history, how comes a block solved four days ago is still waiting for confirmations?

Code:
6	18683	lejpbc	60130	20-08-2011 03:14:00	6 hours, 25 minutes	50/ 120

and, btw, why wait 120 confirmations when after 6 it is assured to be real?

best regards.

thanks for your generosity, right now, though, the share count does not increase anymore and my worker is listed as inctive while it is connected and sending shares...

Code:
Workers
Worker Name Active Hashrate (Mhash/s)
spiccioli.m0 N 1303

Resolved: The lock that prevents multiple executions was not properly released, causing the pipeline to stall. All shares gathered between 03:25 UTC and 10:21 UTC have now been properly accounted for.

Thanks a lot!

We have mitigated the issue by making sure that only one instance of the bookkeeping scripts is running at a time.

We will leave the inflated share counts as they are for now; they might be corrected downwards in the future.

In incidental cases, account balances have also increased more than they should have. As a token of gratitude to our early users we will leave these balances as they are. Cheers!

Question:

given these personal stats

Code:
Personal Stats

Current Hashrate: ~1120 MH/s
Lifetime Valid: 118440 shares
Lifetime Stale: 232 shares
Lifetime Invalid: 5947 shares
Lifetime Earned: 2.48992491 BTC
Balance: 2.48992491 BTC
Updated: 23:22:03 UTC

and a share reward of 0,00002769 BTC each, how comes it says Earned: 2,48 when 118440 share times 0,00002769 gives 3,27 BTCs?

I did not withdraw any BTC yet.

1299  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Augustus, we have a problem! on: August 20, 2011, 12:10:57 PM
Note vis is a defect noum meaning not all forms do exist.

vis, f.  strength

singular / plural
normative: vis / vires
genitive: - / virium
dative: - / viribus
accusative: vim* / vires
ablative: vi* / viribus
vocative: vis / vires

*will scare those emacs folks, might be a good thing Tongue

I have it a little different (while we're at it)

singular

vis
roboris
robori
vim
vis
vi

plural

vires
virĭum
virĭbus
vires
vires
virĭbus

spiccioli

btw.  'viribus unitis' can be (and has been) a motto (it means 'putting our forces together').  In our case it could be used by a pool Smiley

1300  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Are you getting 1 BTC per day from ~1.9Gh/s? on: August 20, 2011, 09:52:12 AM
With 2.4-2.7GH/s I'm not even getting 1 BTC per day.  Lady luck has my balls in a vice clamp.  I was at BTCGuild for 2 weeks only to have those horrible bad luck days (only 1 day was positive).  I bailed and went to slush only to see them go negative for the last 2 days and BTCGuild of course is now running some insane 200% luck since I left.

I'm going to go lay down on the freeway now  Cry
I've been averaging about 0.95 BTC/day with 1.8GH/s now.  Sad to see it finally drop below 1 BTC.  Sad

BUT, it sounds like you went to the scammy pools.  Get on deepbit - they actually pay properly.  I don't know what shinanigans go on in those other pools, but I've tried them, and it just didn't seem like I was getting as much on the payouts as I do at deepbit.  BTCGuild especially I am suspicious of (and other people that I've seen post about them)...

I'm wondering, could a pool give to its miners shares from different rounds?

I mean, a good part of the shares come from the current 'official' round, the one that is shown on the site, but some % of them are from a different bitcoind and those, when solved, give a full 50btc to the pool owner while are marked as simple shares not good to solve the official round the pool is going to solve (in other terms, they are a hidded fee for miners).

Does this make sense? Is this a scam that can be done?

spiccioli.
