Hi kangasbros,

I'm just back in my office after my lunch break and I've found out that during this time someone acquired some bitcoins from me and payed them, but now the escrow deal shows:

Escrow L1932B1HO advertisement #3674
Status: Payment not marked complete within the time window, purchase canceled automatically.

I don't know how long it waits, but maybe a longer time window would make things easier or even having the deal marked but not automatically cancelled.

Thanks.

Hi Piuk,

I've got half of the bounty Huh

Anyway, I'd like to ask one thing: I've translated "My Wallet" in Italian, but now I think that "My Wallet" could be a trademark or sort of.

So, the question is: Do you want that "My Wallet" remains "My Wallet" inside national language files or can I (or we) translate it into our own languages?

I agree, my problems started with v10 also, and got worse with v11 - which also matches up with the beginning of the bad luck streak. It's just too coincidental me thinks........everything before v10 was grand.......but hey, I'm a noob, and I'm not kidding when I say I still have a lot to learn about this. But just look at that chart - something's wrong.

PatMan,

still so sure something is wrong? Wink

peace.

I'm investigating the memory leak; one person experiencing it gave me SSH access and I'm waiting for it to occur. If anyone else wants to lend SSH access, that would be helpful too.

forrestv,

this is my public p2pool entry point at p2pool.soon.it:9332 after 10 days

I'm using python here but I've also used pypy in the past when I was experiencing high memory usage.

I'm going to restart it with pypy just to see if it makes any difference at all.

Hi kangasbros,

I'm located in Italy and I've sent it to +43 676 800505463.

Sending a message to that number costs me 0,30 € so, for small transactions, sending two or more SMSes can eat my already very small margin!

BTW, there are several numbers listed in every deal; which number points to the first backend and which one to the second?

How do I select which number to use to send SMS? Right now I'm using the one of the Nation nearer to me.

spiccioli

Unofrunately it seems our SMS provider doesn't have numbers from italy, otherwise we would just buy one from there. Meanwhile Austrian (+43676800505463), Swedish (+46769436195) and UK (+447937947654) numbers should work internationally.

Also with the SMS system, it should always return the message. So to test it, you can try sending some fake release SMS code, and it should return "Invalid code" response. If I would do it again, I wouldn't probably do the SMS system - it has turned out to be somewhat unreliable technology. Initially I thought that SMS messages are robust, but that was a mistake.

Hi kangasbros,

I've used the Austrian number since it has been available and it failed one time in six. Now I've made a couple more tests resending an already used REL code and it answered me both times.

So, for the time being I'll keep using it, we shall see how it goes. Smiley

If Avalon's website is any clue, they will soon have the capacity to start delivering 30Th per week.....

true, but at a certain point in time adding 30 TH to one's mining farm gives a negative return, I mean, you end up paying more in electricity than you get from mining.

there is not an infinitely available mining capacity, it is constrained by electricity costs.

IMHO.

Question:     Why isn't p2pool more popular than it is?

Answer:    1) http://p2pool.info/luck/

               2) Rejects, stales, DOA rate.

               3) Loads of tech stuff I don't understand, but my guess is there's something amiss with the code.

Thanks for the 1st link, i really didn't know about that stuff till now.

PatMan,

please stop spreading FUD here and there!

p2pool luck is OK, it is called variance, I've been mining on p2pool since january 2012, there have been longer unlucky periods and even longer lucky ones.

I do agree that it takes a little more work to setup and babysit it that it takes for other pools... but that's the fun of it!

You're effectively mining solo when mining on p2pool... and like the whole bitcoin thing, with great power comes great responsability! Smiley

Hi Piuk,

I've made a pull request for the Italian translation.

https://github.com/blockchain/Blockchain-Translations/pull/24

I hope I did not make mistakes since this is the first time I use git

I've used subversion in the past, but there are differences I don't fully grasp yet.

Let me know if it is OK for you.

In that case you can pay the bounty here  16CtsQsV6bPrtzc3DaYvDHjsHS5MwXL476  and as soon as I can use it in your site I'll give it a review to correct errors / inconsistencies.

spiccioli

PS. auto_italian.json should/could be removed now since italian.json was made copying language.json over it and converting the resulting file from scratch because auto_italian.json has all the strings in an order which is different from the order inside language.json.

Hi,

I've just released a little sum to a buyer via the SMS service, REL 3MWSCU97EK, I did not receive back the confirmation SMS though.

Is the SMS service a guaranteed delivery one or not?

spiccioli

ps. I'd pay a little more to be sure that funds have been released, last thing I want is to be somewhere with buyer's cash in hand without knowing whether BTC have been released or not.

Where are you located/what number did you use? We try to make the SMS delivery system as bulletproof as possible, we have now 2 sending backends . if the primary one fails, it uses the secondary. However it seems that there are still problems, at least delays. We will research the SMS system, maybe try sending each release message two times just to be sure.

Hi,

just to let you know I'm at two thirds of the Italian translation, made from scratch from the english one.

I'd say that there are tons of fully or partially repeated strings which make translating slower and more prone to inconsistencies.

It would be a great thing if, after all languages have been translated, the string file is cleaned/compacted and re-organized to make it smaller and with less repetitions.

Now, back to work Smiley

It was a partial italian translation that I did few weeks ago.

Ok,

in the meantime I've found out that it takes a lot of time to correct the auto_italian.json file because string sections don't have the same order they have inside language.json.

I've done 300 strings in a little more than three hours.

So, it is probably faster to simply copy language.json to italian.json (or your_language.json) and start over from scratch.

This way you don't spend time reading the auto translation and trying to reconcile it with Italian on one side and the original on the other.

spiccioli.

800  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Blockchain.info Development Bounties on: January 09, 2013, 11:46:48 AM
PS: The string arrangements do not matter, right? The auto_(language).json and the original English JSON file are not arranged similarly in structure.

John,

and this is another pain in... Smiley because it makes it more difficult to see what was the original text.

spiccioli

Yep - I've been having to CTRL-F every new 'category' I'm presented with, and that's adding a lot of trouble.

By the way, can I just simply edit everything in the auto_(language).json, and replace the (language).json with the results afterwards? It seems that almost every line has a minor mistake here...

John,

I've copied auto_italian.json over italian.json, since italian.json was just a few KBs, and now I'm moving each section I translate following the order they have inside language.json.

I hope this does not destroy everything. Smiley
