243  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I will create a forked bitcoin chain on: April 20, 2013, 06:00:12 PM
I will create a forked chain of bitcoin to accomdate for broad adaptation.

The only major change from the old chain is:

Reward of 200 BTC per block for each new block - (never changed)

  • The chain will produce 10.5 million coins/year (which is far from enough to cause inflation)
  • The clients (incl source) running the new fork will be made available well ahead of the fork
  • All bitcoins created before the fork will by nature be contained in the new chain

I think Litecoins can solve this problem right? Then maybe years later when Litecoins are worth $1000 another coin like PPC can be used for smaller transactions since it has no currency limit.
244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will ppc go to gox on: April 18, 2013, 04:41:46 AM
PPC was just released, they should give it a year and see if people are still supporting it and then think about it.
245  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: how much BTC would you trust in a blockchain.wallet, how long should passord be?? on: April 17, 2013, 10:25:23 PM
how much BTC would you trust in a blockchain.wallet, how should password be??

note assumes you have got all your private keys backup and encrypted everywhere

me, unsure at this stage (hence the thread) but it seems with say a 20 plus letter password it should be ok?Huh

I have all my bitcoins there in watch mode with a strong long password. I use paper addresses and I import the keys when I want to use the coins. Those coins might sit there a couple of days and I have no problems with that but long term I wouldn't let any coins sit there in case the site goes down and you can't access the website or something similar.

248  Economy / Speculation / Re: sleeping with an open sell order, anyone? on: April 17, 2013, 03:49:30 PM
Went to sleep last night, and forgot I had an open sell order for $75

Wake up this morning with Bitcoin at $85 and my precious coins are gone... so sad.. LOL
Now I have to wait a lot until goes back to cheap coins so I can buy 'em back.

Anyone else forgot open orders when going to sleep (I mean, not doing it on purpose) and lost opportunities?
I've learned to think long and hard about having any kind of order siting over night. I had sold out a few bitcoins before the crash a few days ago and planned to buy back in lower. Instead of waiting I put a buy order in at $140 that night and forgot about it. I was tired and knew I shouldn't have but I did it anyway. I woke up the next day and saw the price very low ($60) and got excited to buy the coins back then I logged in and saw that I had already bought at $140. I was not happy lol.

251  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: 1099's on: April 12, 2013, 07:44:44 PM
You are talking about an ignorance tax.  Educate yourself at that link and you'll see that all you need to do is file the paperwork to show that you don't owe the taxes.
Interesting info thanks for posting.
252  Economy / Securities / Re: ASICMINER: Entering the Future of ASIC Mining by Inventing It on: April 12, 2013, 04:48:08 PM
Update

Deploying
At the same time waiting for the new place's power supply system and our second batch's assembly, we have tested the fully enclosed rack approach, which turned out to be denser and has better cooling over the devices.

The projected earliest date to start installing new hardware and releasing brand new hashrates is 22th this month. The whole deploying process will take at least two weeks, with the final hashrate decided by how much we are going to sell to consumers and how much we will keep for ourselves.

Device Selling
Apart from the same boards we use for mining, we also have an adapted version of the mini boards which we used at early January for our first arrived chips that are nice as small gifts. Here is a picture of a not-yet-assembled one with 300MH/s. It can be powered by merely the USB port:

Since the most important mission of ASICMINER is the maximization of profits for shareholders and the security of the network (hashrates should be in hand of good people and decentralization has to be preserved), we will balance the ratio of kept and distributed hashrates based on our portion and the market price of devices.

Financials and Business Plan
We are always aware of the openness and transparency of how we operate. We keep almost if not all the agreements, trading receipts and bank/exchange records, which could be used for restoring a full history of financial report when put in the hands of an accountant with some knowledge of Bitcoin and some of our help. Sooner or later it has to be done, and most likely it would be in the period between the next batch and later batches, during which we will expand our core team with both technical and financial people.

We will start a google-doc-based business plan for us and all board members to edit and update. I will make a stub version as a basis for extending and modifying first this week.

I'd buy one if they're under $50.
253  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Petition To Request Mtgox Not Add Altcoins on: April 10, 2013, 07:31:12 PM
I think they should add Litecoin and maybe Namecoin because they've been around long enough and seem stable. But I'd stop there, the rest need a year or two to prove there stable and that people actually want them.
254  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: btc-e.com down on: April 10, 2013, 07:08:17 PM
Anyone having problems with being logged out at random and having to refresh the page? It's super annoying.
255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: PPCoin is live on BTC-e trading has already commenced on: April 06, 2013, 02:46:06 AM
The price will probably continue to drop as more people finally get there coins in there. It took an hour for mine to get in there and I missed out on a lot of bitcoins but I still made a good amount.  At least the chatbox kept me laughing for the entire hour I waited. lol
256  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Enjoy getting raided by the IRS for not reporting income and capital gains. on: April 05, 2013, 04:26:50 PM
For the love of god, just charge a uniform added value tax or a sale tax.

Who fricking cares about capital gains, income tax, property tax, etc?

ONE TAX! ZERO LIABILITY!

And no, you can't use the tax law to implement your favorite social engineering scheme. Also, I don't give a damn about those fucking turbotax and the rest of the tax preparation industry. Go do something more productive and fulfilling than doing tax.

Yea everyone would pay taxes if they made it as simple as a flat tax on every item for sale and got rid of the rest. You shouldn't have to buy any programs or hire anyone just to pay your taxes. It would force the government to reduce it's size too.

258  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Importing Private keys error Blockchain.info (solved) on: April 02, 2013, 10:15:09 PM
I Finally solved the problem, I used my other computer typed the key in slowly and it worked. I'm not sure why it didn't work on my other computer.
259  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Importing Private keys error Blockchain.info (solved) on: April 02, 2013, 08:37:06 PM
I created a paper wallet a few months back with www.bitaddress.org. I put a few of bitcoins on one address to use later. Well I tried to import them today with blockchain.info and instead of importing the address with the 3btc I had, it imported another random address with no bitcoins on it, I thought I entered the code wrong so I tried again and it did the same thing, it created another address. Is there something i'm doing wrong? Are www.bitaddress.org keys not compatible with blockchain.info.?
260  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] bitaddress.org Safe JavaScript Bitcoin address/private key on: April 02, 2013, 07:47:47 PM
Nevermind I fixed the problem. (ignore this message.)
