Please migrate to this pool if you can, we need to spread out our hashes. I emailed ~25 pool operators today.  In addition to freynder, I got a response from one other pool operator - he should have his pool set up by the end of the day tomorrow.  Hopefully with >5 good pools we won't run into another 51% situation - but we need to spread out our hashes for sure.

Really? No takers?  We need a few new pools badly - one of ours went down and stayed down do to heavy traffic - now we only have 2 normal pools and 1 p2pool - with a total network hashrate approaching 500 Mhash.

yep - except we have 4 pools that can't handle the miners they already have - I would LOVE to get a pool onboard that can handle over 1Ghash

We only have 4 pools and they are getting HAMMERED by new miners!!!!  Network hashrate has increased 50x in the last 4 days and our pools cannot handle the traffic!  Please any new pool would be a huge help!!

This is a great development IMO.  Instead of abandoning the blockchain they are re-branding the coin as "Credits" so that all of those poor people who mined NYN aren't totally screwed. I'm glad they are doing this.

I'm very happy to report that our reddit community is EXPLODING, more than doubling in size in just the last 12 hours!  Most of this new growth is thanks to redditor "americanpegasus" who reached out to the /r/dogemarket community and started a giveaway thread. He is spearheading an effort to create a nyan trade subreddit - that will act much like /r/dogemarket, where redditors can trade coins and make deals with Nyancoin.  We're hoping to include the same code that runs on /r/dogemarket, allowing good users to build positive trade rep, among other functionality.

I'm feeling GREAT about the future of Nyancoin!  Everyone keep it up!  We're building incredible momentum!

It seems there is a problem getting the Nyancoin wallet to sync on a fresh install - We're getting lots of people over at reddit.com/r/nyancoins that can't get it to sync.  I tried installing a fresh wallet and ran into the same problem.  We are helping them create .conf files which is fixing the problem but is time consuming and confusing for some users.  Does anyone know what's up with the wallet?  Is the default sync address down?

Please contact your favorite pool operators and ask them to add a Nyancoin pool!  I'm sending out a few emails now - If you want to do something to help the coin this would be a big help!

We NEED MORE POOLS.  It's going to be hard to maintain all pools below 50% if we only have three pools total.  Especially if one pool goes down due to heavy load (which seems likely at this point). Can we get a couple cool bros to launch new pools?  Also, if you have >5 Mhash please consider solo-mining, you will hit a block once every ~45 minutes with 5 Mhash.

Yep, that's exactly what happened - around 7AM Eastern time US (~4.5 hours ago) network hashrate jumped suddenly jumped ~110Mhash.  I was monitoring the size of the pools and it was obvious it was not someone mining on a pool.  It COULD be an auto-switching pool - but this is unlikely because NYAN is not on a big exchange yet so they can't set a price and they would only switch to mining NYAN if it was currently the most profitable coin according to the exchanges.

On one had I think it's great that NYAN has gained the attention of one of the bigtime mining farms, but this development could actually be very dangerous because they are only ~ 30Mhash from breaking the 51% threshold.

Hashrate is actually looking pretty good, but I agree we need to build on this momentum and get it to exchange as soon as possible.  People are hesitant to fully get behind a coin until they know they can cash out if they have to at some point.  http://exchange.ghash.ru/ is a good start but we need to really be aiming for coinedup, cryptsy, etc.

It will take a while to find a block depending on your hashrate - if your hash rate is 1Mhash it will take about 2 hours to find a block (337 coins) at the current difficulty

It's actually pretty easy to set up.

First, go to your Nyancoin data folder (by default in windows this is: C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Nyancoin)

Create a new text file in that folder, paste in the following text:

Now save the file as "nyancoin.conf"

Re-Launch the wallet and let it connect - it needs to fully sync before you can start mining.

Now go back to your cgminer .bat file - where you would normally put your pool info put this instead: localhost:33700
your username will be nyan and your password is nyannyan (you can set this to whatever you want in the .conf file)

Now launch your .bat and it will start solo-mining.

When you find a block 337 coins will automagically appear in your wallet

Props to Nyanpool.net - they disabled new signups and posted a link to moonishere.com in the heading in big letters - hopefully this will cause a few more to switch.
