501  Other / Meta / [PROPOSAL]Stickied a topic all about merit on: April 07, 2018, 05:38:56 PM
I was wondering to the mods if they will stickied a topic  that's contain all about merit otherwise collect a different ideas  about merit and where do merit pours.
This is means to minimize  the spammers and beggars of merit.
Having a stickied information will lesser the questions. The biggest  purpose of these is to make Meta Thread clean because when the time was merit started it makes the Meta Thread only for meta. It's  been 2 months ago after merit been released. This will make the forum better.

502  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Should I keep my BTC now? on: April 06, 2018, 05:17:34 PM
Hi guys! I have been hold my BTC for a long time but now it's completely down and I started to think about selling it. My friend is very good trader and he advised me to keep all my BTC now and try to get some free coins from different forks because when BTC will be completely down forks will be more actual and valuable. That's why I am here to ask you how to get that fork coins for free? I have found very good fork calling Bitcoin Interest but I just can't understand how to do that.  Tell me please the best way to do that. Thanks in advance !
Yes the only way to do now is to hold bitcoin and buy if have some fund.  Don't  sell it now because maube tomorrow  or soon price will  get back high. Having a good plan to that is the best to get e bigger amount of profit.

Lesson 2: BBCode signature max. height

Signature max. height is same for all ranks.
Simple way to check what's the maximum possible height: While designing a signature - create a table column with 3 lines of text, in each line write a letter 'p'.

Remember: Profile signature space has 'same' cascading style sheets as a 'quote' -
- That's why anything below 3rd line 'p' will be not visible on your signature space.

Quote
p
p
p

Lesson 3: Senior/Hero/Legendary Members signature table template (and a bit about tables...)

Tables are made from columns and rows.
To create a table you need to create a table frame and rows. Rows contains columns.

Simple explanation in an example:
Open a table -> open a row with ie. 4 columns -> close a row -> create another row with 4 columns -> close a row -> close a table

In a code same example looks like:
Code:
[table]
[tr]
[td]
Row_1_column_1
[/td]
[td]
Row_1_column_2
[/td]
[td]
Row_1_column_3
[/td]
[td]
Row_1_column_4
[/td]
[/tr]
[tr]
[td]
Row_2_column_1
[/td]
[td]
Row_2_column_2
[/td]
[td]
Row_2_column_3
[/td]
[td]
Row_2_column_4
[/td]
[/tr]
[/table]

Preview:
Row_1_column_1
Row_1_column_2
Row_1_column_3
Row_1_column_4
Row_2_column_1
Row_2_column_2
Row_2_column_3
Row_2_column_4

When you want to create a new signature design (For Senior/Hero/Legendary Members) you can start with a template which will save your time:

Code:
[quote][table]
[tr]
[td]
p
p
p - MAX. HEIGHT -
[/td]
[td]
CONTENT
[/td]
[/tr]
[/table][/quote]

After design is ready remove 'quote' tags and your BBCode signature code is ready Smiley

511  Other / Meta / Re: 1 day old account with 10 merits. It is acceptable? on: April 05, 2018, 03:33:22 AM
-snip-
This is acceptable since the post of that user is seems to be meritorious.
In the initial days when crypto-currency meant bitcoin only. Slowly picture started to change and new coins were introduced.  With boom in the bitcoin price also fast-tracked the adaption of alternate cryto-currency. However there was A big bIAS TOWARDS THESE COINS. Real surge and adaption happened when bitcoin went over 1000 USD mark. After that rapid growth of bitcoin accelerated adaption of alternate as many people realized that investment in bitcoin from testing purpose is now not affordable.
One of major reason for alternate crypto got the bad rap was many coins mushroomed, collected money and vanished in thin air. This was observed after boom in alternative currency started. Many coins stand test of time, coins such are ethereum, monero etc etc.  alternative crypto currency is of two types: 1. coins 2.token.
Majority of the altcoins are based on the ethereum. While checking the tokens and their usage, i noticed noticed that one could use these tokens for various purposes apart from being used as coin. They could be used in the healthcare industry as well. I'm sure there are other coins which have similar or different usecases for them.

What do you think about the significance of alternate crypto currency?

If you like my post please consider to send some merit to my post.
But the Merit summary of this user is likely farmed. This received merit from lordquanta  and zcroc1 sent merit back.
512  Economy / Services / Re: Bitcoin Quiz Merit Reward on: April 05, 2018, 02:35:21 AM
The OP is a merit beggar. Merit farming seems to be the purpose of this exercise.
First of all this is not merit farming.
Could you tell me what that even means?
The question is already answered.
Code:
ANSWER:Bitcoin mines are at where the electricity is cheap, and it does worth mining, simple as that. The cheapest power is at:
India, $0,08/kWh
China, $0,09/kWh
But this is an average, it may vary even in the country. But usually you can hear about Chinese and Russian Bitcoin farms. From these two information sources, I'd say most of the bitcoin mines are in China. At least the half.
Also, if a mining farm obtains power not from the grid, but straight from the power plant, it means cheaper power, because of bypassing plenty of fees. These fees cointain: Acquisition/sales, Grid fee, Value-added tax, Concession fees, Electricity tax, and may be others. This way, you can mine anywhere in the world, where you can get cheap enough electricity this way. Some mining companies even do this, for example Envion.
So there is no exact way/location to answer this, but to say that it can be anywhere in the world where the electricity is cheap enough.

It can take 1.7 billion attempts to unlock a new bitcoin.

?  Not true at all.  Modern hardware can hash that in a second.  The average bitcoin takes 10 minutes.
Yes it is. This is already proven In somewhere where bitcoins are banned by thier government due to that they get a lot of bitcoins. I won't say the place where it is. Waiting for some answers.

Question:

1.
About 1,800 new bitcoins are mined each week. It can take 1.7 billion attempts to unlock a new bitcoin. The work must be proved before a bitcoin is added to the chain. Where are the bitcoin mines? Why?
Code:

2.
Bitcoin takes a lot of computer power to mine and to trade. It requires a lot of electricity to run those computers, which in turn generate enormous amounts of heat. Should the world be worried about pollution from the bitcoin mines?
Code:
ANSWER:

Well, what you are saying is not entirely true, even in Europe. Only on thermal and nuclear plants you can produce the exact amount of energy being demanded. And these are not the only types of electricity plants in the world.

There are  countries in Europe like Switzerland which they pump water from the base of the valley back to the top of the elevation, so they can sell this excess energy at peak hours of consume to another countries. If energy could be stored, that would not happen. Search about it on google you will find out.

Indeed  some are hydro plants are able to store energy, but not all of them. Not all hydro plant have a reservoir, actually some of the biggest of the world do not have. They are called [url=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Run-of-the-river_hydroelectricity]Run-of-the-river hydroelectricity [/url].

The biggest one in Brazil (Itaipu), and one of the biggest in the world, is one of this kind of hydro plant.
These kind of hydro power plants just canīt store energy, and the amount of energy produced cannot be controlled.

Even if bitcoin is not be produced from excess energy, it can still be a sponsor of alternative energy sources. As cryptomining is profitable, people could buy solar panels (which can be shut down, but there is no reason to do so, and you cannot store solar energy) and use the excess energy produce to mine.

I think Antonopoulos sometimes speaks too much, but he is very knowledge about crypto and respected in crypto community. Maybe he made a few mistakes in that video, but he has a point. Just saying bitcoin is just bad for the environment is just false and hypocrisy.

Is Bitcoin vulnerable to quantum computing?
Code:
Answer:
I have read https://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/11/09/quantum_computers_could_crack_bitcoin/ talking about this
kind of topic but in my opinion, yes vulnerable.
However, bitcoin can find a way to protect its transactions, free from any attack using quantum computers/computing as we are still finding its blockchain potential.
Ten more years are enough to find solutions from any attack.

Merit sales, transfers to aliases, back-and-forth trading, etc. are not much of an issue. All illegitimate merit will decay, and will account for a tiny and very expensive fraction of the total merit economy. It's basically a rounding error; fight it where convenient, but waste no sleep over it.
That is what theymos said on merit trading.
DT Members- they are not allowed to red tag those who are trading and exchanging their merit as what The Pharmacist said.
I would gladly tag merit abusers, but as I've said before it appears Theymos doesn't want that, and I have to respect his stance.  Also, these cases of abuse are much less clear to me than account sales or even campaign cheating.  There definitely can be users who really like what one particular person has to say, and I might tag such a person unnecessarily.  I don't feel like dealing with the backlash of that, nor do I really want to neg someone and be totally wrong.

This all will take care of itself eventually; I have some faith that this'll be true.  We're only in month 2 of the merit system, so it's still young.  It wasn't designed to stamp out shitposters immediately--it's a gradual, long-term thing I think.  We'll see in a year or two.
516  Other / Meta / Re: How to get merit? on: April 04, 2018, 07:23:00 AM
I already answered this repeatedly.
with new bct update to become a full member need 100 merits and i still have only 10 merits. What is the best way to earn merits
You should be constructive on your posts. Having a useful post are one of the ways to earn merit. I have some guides to earn merits. If you have a constructive post and it didn't get merit, there are BCT members that are viewing some thread that are useful and they give merits.
●Be constructive!
●Make your post useful, not a shit post.
●Use correct grammar and use ENGLISH language if you are posting on big threads like Bitcoin discussion, economy, Meta and Alternative Cryptocurrencies.

Getting merit is not easy as what you think. Don't try to ask for merit because it will be a self-moderated topics, don't buy also a merit because buying merit isn't allowed nor prohibited.
Here's my searches answers for questions about merit.
You can earn merits by just simply posting constructive and useful posts. Enjoy on posting don't understand if you're post will be merited it will merited if your post deserves it.

MERIT MODERATOR
Alt Coins vs Bitcoin
518  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Moderators on: April 03, 2018, 06:45:16 AM
All merits abusers are not being reported because there are only some users that makes thread where to report those who abuse. In this case I suggest to have a Merit Moderator who will priorities or who will moderate about merits.

Many users are being reported but they do not receive any punishments. I was wondering it because merit moderator will only priorities merit.

Indeed I also need your suggest?
It is a nice suggestion but don't you think they will be punished soon enough for their actions? Default trust members are going around giving red trust to merit abusers and I think it is enough punishment for now. Nevertheless,. I think merit abusers deserve a permaban if ever they are caught abusing the merit system.  That way we also won't need merit moderators.
I think so. But in this case this forum is now over populated. Can they do all this? I believe in their cause they have been pointed by theymos to become DT's.

This isn't going to happen. Staff are already swamped and I think it should be left up to the community to police just like scams are. Merit abuse is probably just going to cause more hassle than it's worth and sadly farmers and "friends" are just trading it or swapping it between themselves and it's regular users who are left feeling the pinch whilst those with a lot of accounts and/or "friends" will just continue to bend the rules to their advantage.

This won't happen, as it could result in moderator abuse, just like (likely) scams aren't moderated.

Default trust members should not tag normal members for merit related cases, people were posting garbage and DT members tagged them, theymos made merit system and said that he had to speed up the process because he didn't want DT members tagging garbage posters. misusing merits is the same as posting garbage. majority of members will abuse this system because they don't really know what is happening, they only see that their accounts need merits to rank up and since they don't have anything to contribute, they would keep doing what they were doing.

After running out of merit supply, they have nothing else, even if somebody provides merits for them, it would be expensive, we have to find merit sellers after a few more months when only sources have sMerits to distribute. please don't tag people now. what if theymos disables merit requirement to rank up for a month or what would have happened if he'd introduced it one month late?

Let people do what they want with their sMerits, or tag them but don't act surprised if theymos removed you as DT1-2.
