It's not a wallet backup if I move the entire wallet.dat into a usb that I take offline right?

i use the same process to secure my bitcoins amount from a compromise PC.

1) run bitcoin-QT
2) save wallet.dat in multiple SAME files in different USB (i use microSD).
3) delete the wallet.dat in the PC
4) run bitcoin-QT (with 0 BTC and unsecure wallet)

when i want to view the evolution of my wallet

1) shutdown the unsecure bitcoin-QT
2) delete the wallet.dat
3) copy-paste the (real) wallet.dat in the PC (from the USB location)
4) run bitcoin-QT
5) check the "upgrade" automated received from the bitcoin network

---

In this bitcoin network, only the door (compromise PC) can stealth the bitcoin amount.
Not the "trace" of your bitcoin (wallet.dat)

At the end, i think that i will create a single PC with a RAM/ROM loader to only launch bitcoin-QT with a wallet.dat on a stick (and so, the blockchain main folder).

13705  Other / Beginners & Help / Is it profitable "for bitcoin network" to solo mine ? (not for me !) on: February 02, 2014, 01:42:34 PM
Actually, i win 0,01 per week in a pool of mining.

But, i want to do something to help the bitcoin network ... so, solo mining is good for this network ?
(with no gain at all at the end for me, it's not a problem)

Is solo mining accelerate the network efficacity ?
Is solo mining help to integrate the low fee or erase dust transaction more quickly ?

13710  Economy / Speculation / Re: Psychological bitcoin price on: January 31, 2014, 03:00:46 PM
reponse (b) for me ... it's take only 3 month to rise the price of BTC to 700 euros (real rock stable since december).
more 3x time waiting time to insert in the global merchandising (to adapt auto-cash at seller)
13711  Economy / Speculation / Re: Psychological bitcoin price on: January 31, 2014, 02:37:48 PM
price increase because people want this ...
if people keep bitcoin in cold storage, the price decrease (because 25BTC is injected every 10min in the network).

only price bump will be if the "noob people" use instead of credit card (or paypal).

use opendns instead of your FAI DNS ...  Grin
simply change DNS on ethernet card to DNS1 : 208.67.222.222 and DNS2 : 208.67.220.220

and you can view the different, usually (no restriction at all).

13717  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: intel i5 hd 4000 on: January 29, 2014, 12:23:48 AM
with a i5 you can mine with minerd ( a cpu miner ) at 35kH/s but it makes only sense with a brand new coin and a very low difficult

with E8600@4,33GHz (120w) ... i can mining at 4MH/s.
with GTX280 (430w) = 80MH/s
with USB block erupter (5w) = 333MH/s
with BFL miner (42w) = 12000MH/s

so ... you want mining for what ?
that it's the real question.

If you want help the network, ok.
If you want to found a block ... no luck, don't try.
13718  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Combine wallet with miner software on: January 29, 2014, 12:18:03 AM
no, the -gen attribute is optional ... and must be indicate in the shortcut (ex: in windows desktop) to activate the mining process.
1 big (very big) problem is that process is not in the gui and it is not configurable (100% of the CPU when activate).

the request can view like this :
- in the gui, add a checkbox that it enable "mining"
- in the gui, add a slider to configure "mining" power (like 1s in 10s for 10%)
- in the gui, add a slider to configure a pause after this cycle like 1-5-10-30s after mining 10s
13719  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Combine wallet with miner software on: January 28, 2014, 11:58:55 PM
If I understand correctly, you can directly mine using the qt wallet using -gen.

yes, but this "option" ... can not be used with graphic card or asic miner.
i request, too, this feature ... because i alternate solo mining and pool mining.

i only want 1 software for solo-mining that it can understand asic, gpu or cpu mining strategy.

after all, mining is a "big" part of the fludity of the bitcoin network.
13720  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Weighted Average or direct price from a specific exchange? on: January 28, 2014, 05:40:10 PM
Mt.gox price exchange is useless ... check virwox (system) or justcoin.
when i transform BTC to Euro, only last 2 is the true about the exchange ... example : 400mBTC = 200 euros (virwox and justcoin indicate 500euros/BTC and mt.gox indicate 720euros/BTC).
