561  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MAX] MaxCoin - Alive and Kickin' on: March 06, 2014, 10:57:03 AM
My BEST settings for minig Maxcoin (MAX) with mining rig with 3x Sapphire R9 290X 4GB DDR5 (5000MHz)

I've just started mining max using the dwarfpool pools but after 2 hours i've receive no MaxCoins, how long do you normally to have to wait for a payout? With exactly the same configuration I get payments from 1gh every 20 minutes.

The payouts are made once an hour. But it also takes time, the "immature" block becomes "confirmed"

Why MAX profit calculator is such innacurate?
Given my real hashrate(not what see on pool but real) i by calc have about 30% more than in reality. How its possible?

This might happen due to many reasons.

The results may differ slightly because of the variable difficulty. Calculator uses the actual difficulty, not for last 24 hours. Therefore it is only for rough estimation.

Another question is a personal situation, do you have 100% uptime? I have been already asked by users the same, but after check of personal account it turned out that he either was leaving in disadvantageous moment, or his rigs has been down for some time.

"disadvantageous moment" means that, the smaller part of the whole hashrate a pool get, the more irregular it founds blocks. It may differ one day is unlucky, the other one is two-times-luckier then typically.

On the pool level there is 100% uptime, if you put our second server as backup one.

After all, another reason are orphaned blocks. The smaller pool is it, the more difficult to find any block generally, many of them become as orphaned. The smaller pool, the more percent of orphaned. This does not apply to the situation, if there is more or less uniform distribution of hashrate "23-34-43%.." but it is extreme by situation "75-2-5-8%.."
On a pool level itself it also makes a contribution to less found blocks, if a part of them get orphaned.

I just had a look at the other pools to compare the results, in comparison with dwarves there is no statistic at all, so I was only be able to find out the following data at the moment:

Code:
pool GHs(at the present)	found blocks/24hours	blocks per day/THs
hashfaster 1064 69 65
coinedpool 740 124 168
maxcoinpool 580 23 40
dwarves 400 97 242
nut2pool 180 35 194
max-coin 170  6 35
supernova 150 25 167

So, as I said, it's a problem of monopoly and miners there, who do not understand that it definitely destroys the coin. It's a real pity for MaxCoin could have an excellent long-term outlook in comparison with other coins. But I knew 1gh for some longer time, and unfortunately, in this case a wish to make a profit is much stronger than common sense.

With a coin based on PoW, the miners ARE important. Without happy plethora of miners, 51% attack occurs. Without the right crypto, there's also threat of the market crash from  ASICs.

Miners are also the people actively involved with the community, and buying/selling. What in the fuck are you smoking bro? Roll Eyes

Yes, of course, in your sense miners are important for EXISTENZ of coins, but the REAL VALUE of coins depends only on "normal" users and investors.
See on doge-community, who were not miners, but they had an idea, enthusiasm. the same with bitcoin/litecoin, it will be accepted overall because of distribution in real world for people.

The basis of a successful coin is the ideology!
If only the miners buy/sell, it leads to fail of coin. Many coins die just because the miner-community do not understand the importance to bring the coin into the real life!

One thing we might be able to do is connect more with the reddit community, but how do you break that barrier to entry is the hardest part of the endeavor.

Sure, to develop a coin is nothing miraculous, the main point is an advancement.

To be honest, I do not believe in hundred coins, but only some of them have a future.
You do not come to reddit or crypsy just with "we love sha3, it's the best" without any idea behind it. Did you get any plan for helixcoin?
what the applications were you talking about?

Never mind, perhaps I'd get some suggestions, let's see if it works. One trick we already missed by start. Second one, I'm talking about a certain nishe again. You have to find out which were interested in helix.

E.g. there are quite plenty of various sites of fun clubs (fantastic, sport.. just cant count), you could awake an interest to the owner in getting the donate from their funs in helixcoin. You have to speak to ONE man, and he dustributes FOR YOU to ALL HIS FUNS your coin by himself, just because he has nothing to lose and it is also exciting and modern

I find helix is a nice coin. It just needs to come out to the "ordinary" mankind. It may be the only narrow area, but the own one, where the people use it.
Are there some ideas here?    Roll Eyes

From the technical side we'd try to assure the attractive distribution of the whole hashrate to be shown to the best advantage for the investors.
DwarfPool got some more than 50% hashrate, I cant exclude the existing users from my pool, but if it will depend on my pool, as soon as more miners come to helixcoin, I'll think about how to bound the new members on the technical level not to keep more than the permissible share.

We tried to keep that a fair distribution and what ended up happening was just another hash reduction. We will add more informative help on how to mine SHA3 to help get more people.

We would love to see more practical applications become available for people, and would love to assist people making them.

On a non-technical side, it would be advantageous for people to think about the state of coins. How many scrypt coins are their. And how many coins arent. In the future, perhaps the perception really should be a top three mentality. The top three of each algorythm are the coins that really matter in the long run. For miners, SHA3 is superior. For people investing, superior algos make sense as people move into them and increase difficulty.

We want the community to grow, value will follow, especially if we can keep adding exchange support and configs for those who just want to get in as an investment. Sha3 and Helix are better from the DNA level!

What the direction of apps are you thinking about?

Sorry if I'm wrong, but it seems to me, you change the definitions, miners are not "people". Miners do not deal with value of coin at all. They do not make the value of coin, but "normal" users do! People (not miners) also do not care what the cryptoalgorytmus based the coin on! no matter if there are sha, scrypt, keccak.. they are only interested in using of coin in real world.

That means, the sense of advancement of coin is to awake an interest of normal people but not miners.
For instance, to find a nishe interested in cryptocoin: online games, anime funs, porno etc..

what is wrong with the dwarfpool?
seems working so why it is "unsupported"?

nothing wrong, supported as always.
we're just discussing with developers about the fair uniform distribution of coin to attract the potential investors.
Sure, value of coin depends on investors as well as on community, not on miners.

anyone having issues with dwarf pool unconfirmed disappearing, and not getting credit for blocks? I also haven't seen a block on my address page for 20 minutes even though the pool is continually finding blocks.
Hi, I have worked and disabled for some times scripts that counts personally shares. Now works.

I've tried two different pools and keep getting rejected shares every time.

cg miner config looks right

I get 0 hashrate with this config. Don't know what to do.

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT=100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS_1
cgminer.exe --keccak -o x -u x -p x -d 1 --gpu-map 0:1,1:0 --remove-disabled --intensity 13 --worksize 256 -g 2 --thread-concurrency 8192 --temp-cutoff 87 --temp-overheat 83 --auto-gpu --gpu-memclock 1500 --auto-fan --gpu-fan 0-80 --gpu-engine 1000-1100 --temp-target 75
timeout 60
Try without any settings: cgminer.exe --keccak --no-submit-stale -o x -u x -p x -d 1
Works?

Sweet mother of crap. Hashrates that high?? I don't have experience with Sha3. I didn't know it has hashrates so exponentially higher than script. Cudaminer users were excited when they used keccak for maxcoin and were getting similar 17Mh rates.

I remember reading; first minutes of maxcoin release, early cudaminers at that rate got many maxcoins. Was maxcoin not Sha3? I just thought keccak is keccak. So I should just quit. I have a GTX670. Sha3, whatever it is, is never gonna work for me.

Ha, I was excited seeing 17000khash flashing on my screen. I'm just a  minnow among whales.

SHA-3 is around with 450-500 times more speed then scrypt

why did I get a rejection rate (4-6%) ?  Is it normal?   Huh Huh
(I mine at dwarf pool).
I have on my rigs 0.2-0.7% rejects
