can you get approved for flexirent by the income you'll get from mining ? if that is your job....
142  Economy / Economics / Re: The Bitcoin economy needs about $100,000 a day of new money on: July 05, 2011, 10:30:34 AM
Bitcoin production is supposed to be about 7200 coins per day, which at $13.75/BTC is currently $99,000. So, right now, it takes about $100,000 a day in new money to keep the price of Bitcoins stable.

We just saw this on the 4th of July. No one was putting much new money into the markets, since it's a US bank holiday, and the price dropped from $15 to $13. The "weekend slump" has been mentioned previously. But it's not because people aren't trading - that's symmetrical. It's because they're not depositing new cash.

How long will the supply of suckers able to collectively put in $100,000 a day hold out?

i dont think it should be looked at from a point of needed 100,000$ new capital each day. more from the volume perspective.

rather we need min 7200 volume each day to stay stable ? (assuming no old coins sold and all new mined coins sold)

even these days with the low volumes being traded we are easily clearing that goal...

enough so to cover plenty of old coins being sold each day, but they will run out more and more and eventually the base value of a coin will be worth more each time it is traded at a rate higher than it was bought for.

please critique.

sorry but the dollar has come to represent the antithesis of independence and is manipulated as a tool for global slavery  Grin
144  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: CPU usage 100%, any way to diable it at all? on: July 04, 2011, 11:15:24 PM
so ive read alot and saw the new settings of Affinity to cores.
But my question is, is there a way to get it down to these below 10% cpu loads?

if your talking about gpu mining, and cpu usage during that try -f10 or number higher number till it reduces cpu usage to needs.

if i run less than 10 i get strong usage an core 0 making temps higher and fans loader, fine for garage, but not for my caravan.

i use guiminer poclbm and get next to no usage on any core
145  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My earlier google trend correlation still holding strong, crash predictable on: July 04, 2011, 11:11:10 PM
OP your graph doesnt appear to actually predict anything (ie show something before it happens) it changes when the price changes. correlation but not prediction.

and the reason it is below near the end is that there is no price line to mach it against due to trading freeze, and then your graph ends.
146  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Optimizing ATI performance, 6950 in particular on: July 04, 2011, 10:49:12 PM

i just cant seem to flash it. it has the bios switch and i have saved the original bios, run the scripts to mod it for the extra shaders ...but nothing !
if i flash it back to the card after the flash then it wont boot ........ Shocked( (lucky it has a dual bios !!!lol )

are you making your original backup bios with gpuz ?
147  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Volitility for new bitcoin follower on: July 04, 2011, 12:29:46 PM
one thing i like at least here is that there is no margin calls like there is in forex Smiley

i think it actually been really stable since it dropped down to 10 after 30 and bounced back up. as well if you dont count the mtgox hack which shaved about $2 off the price its been flat overall with a slight down trend.

i guess the real question on any investors mind is will it keep falling, for how long and how much ...  Huh

i think if there is enough trade volume each day to cover the amount of bitcoins mined & sold in a day plus those bitcoins people have been holding for along time and then choose to sell that day, eventually there will run out cheap bitcoins and price will start rising again.

well that's my half baked theory im still working on

148  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Codename: EasyCoin on: July 04, 2011, 12:19:14 PM
Due to this reversibility, people can purchase Bitcoins with their credit card due to the eliminated chargeback risk.
Bitcoins should never be purchased with credit cards or other method of credit. Bitcoin is cash and should be purchased with cash, or we risk transferring all weak spots of a fiat money system to bitcoin system! Cash against cash, this should be the leading principle for all bitcoin exchanges.

not really, as the money/wealth we can transfer from other systems into the btc system the stronger we get and the weaker they get.

i really like the idea, and no one said we where talking about actual bitcoin protocol development here !

its just an idea like the rest, and not that far out, and not compulsory, and you dont have to have nothing to do with it if you dont like it and cant stop it if you want to.

alot of you guys hating it are so stuck up in your ass that you have no idea about common folk. people who brought you into this world and looked after you and maybe know enough to check their email and do internet banking.

these people are not retarded because of this ! you are retarded if anyone for being so judgmental, negative and elitist.

yes so it keeps the power tune option as mentioned. i can run 920mhz so long as im not doing much else with my pc, but once a change it to -f60 from -f0 and open my firefox and thunderbird at the same time it crashes. so im trying to find a stable -f60 clock that i can work without crashing, and 915mhz is going well so far.

heres 410Mhs @ 920mhz

it saved me quite some Watts, though.

good point, i never thought of that angle, ill try the beta and get back to you.
151  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Optimizing ATI performance, 6950 in particular on: July 04, 2011, 04:31:00 AM
ok, im getting 408.9Mhs with 920mhz set with trixx as it can work with ccc and leaves power +20% on

i spoke too soon, and they dont seem to work that well after reboot. ccc would just be blank screen and gpu would be acting as if power control had been disabled again... maybe rbe bios mod might be only way left but it sounds risk particularly if you dont have bios switch or backup video output

153  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Optimizing ATI performance, 6950 in particular on: July 04, 2011, 03:45:18 AM
yeah, i just tried msi afterburner to go higher than my ccc limit of 900mhz, but then i dont get power control, and that gives me an extra 40mhs. so im trying sapphire trixx now as apparently that has it.
154  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Optimizing ATI performance, 6950 in particular on: July 04, 2011, 02:25:31 AM
some cards (inc mine) have the voltage locked and you cant get much more than 900, so that why !

What cards do you have?

gigabyte 1gb oc
155  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Optimizing ATI performance, 6950 in particular on: July 04, 2011, 02:13:12 AM
i just want to add that  i just updated to that latest guiminer and i use opencl and i got anothe 20mhs so i can now get 399.8Mhs
156  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: poclbm mining problems with 6950 on: July 04, 2011, 02:07:41 AM
i tried pheonix via guiminer, but it was too much slower for me so i didnt bother testing it for stability, id rather wait.
157  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: GUI mining - Phoenix 1.5 and new, faster poclbm on: July 04, 2011, 02:06:19 AM
i upgraded to the latest version from a few back (may) and use opencl miner. now my hashrate is much faster ! im getting 20mhs more. thanks. donation made.
158  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Optimizing ATI performance, 6950 in particular on: July 04, 2011, 01:00:41 AM
Just installed my HIS 6950.

Using latest poclbm w/ gui front end

passing nothing - 230 Mhash
passing -v - 270 Mhash
No difference between w64 or w128

using -v -w128 -f2 = 281Mhash (only feasible when away at work)
using -v -w128 -f30 = 273 Mhash

Haven't messed with unlocking shaders just yet - maybe tomorrow  Grin

I'd like 2 say thanx 4 the mining parameters as they have boosted my GPU mining quite a bit from 308MHash/s to ~330MHash/s (peak it hit 381MHash/s but that's just lucky I think) on just the same OC settings;
core clock 840MHZ (max catalyst will safely go)
mem clock 1260MHZ
Power control is +20%
fan is 55% (should be 62% for my GPU as temps get high)

Thank you JWU42 Smiley

yes, i just changed added -v its got me an extra 12mhs ! nice. -f2 just holds me stronger but make everything laggy, so i run -f60 so it drops back when i need it coz i work and mine at same time

can someone with experience on this please tell me in a clear step to step guide guide on what utilities to get, what settings to use,how to prepare USB stick for DOS flashing?

for starters you wont get over near 400mhs unless you are pushing 1000mhz with voltage increases as well...

you should be able to oc (depending temps) to 900mhz with no voltage changes, you just have to use something like msi afterburner to allow you to oc further

as for dos usb http://www.mediafire.com/?tjekkdcawqe7yd6 download that. you install HP prog, run it point it towards the win98 folder as the source of dos files (its an option during boot creation) this will make usb bootable and put dos files on it. then copy in windows your atiflash.exe and bios rom file onto the usb also. boot up on it and run

atiflash.exe -p 0 romfile.rom  (assuming you are trying to flash card 0 ie its the only one installed)

reboot and check gpuz that your count has gone up
160  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Optimizing ATI performance, 6950 in particular on: July 04, 2011, 12:46:42 AM

unlocked shaders. can't get my memory clock below 625MHz with msi afterburner. if i try trixx, memory clock won't change at all. power is +20%.

theres no point underclocking your mem that much or more
